Opinions de Mongol King Torrance
The food was so good I was very impressed with the flavors of different levels of spicy sauces. I love spicy food. You can make it to your own level of spice or no spice with some teriyaki or bbq flavors your choice. Don’t forget to put some of the garlic sauce in the meat and noodles it made the meat so juicy with the dragon spicy sauce. 10/10 it satisfied my hunger I was so stuffed I slept really good that night.
I love this place. I miss it dearly. Everytime I come back to Torrance I eat here. From 2003 to 2014 I lived down the road.
I have no words to explain how great the food is. This is my first time coming here and I had a blass....the employees here are so kind, very friendly and super helpful. I met the owner of the business and I told him tonight that this was my first time here. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves to eat and I promise you that you will have a great time just like me. Parking can get very busy but you must come early. This place gets very busy so you might wait about 10-15 minutes, but it is worth it. Thank you Mongol King we support small local business, see you soon, Harry Irvine
The all you can eat is a great deal. The food was good and the service was wonderful. Liked trying the different sauces. Will be coming back! Server advised the all you can eat buffet is the only option Fri-Sun, other days you can get one single serving through the buffet and other options.
This fine dining restaurant is outstanding in every aspect from service to food. Very delicious salads, appetizers, and entrees served by a most attentive staff. They feature a very complete wine list to complement your dining experience.
I haven't been here in so long but was helped immediately. The service was impeccable. Jose was extremely helpful and handled my food with care.
If you were ever fortunate enough to eat at Mongols in Westwood back in the day, this place is just as good! We usually get a to-go order (all you can fit in one bowl) and it is enough for two dinners. The meat is good quality and all of the ingredients are fresh. I love the selection of topings. You do the sauces and noodles yourself (which I prefer). You can also get rice, soup, and other things at the buffet, but I don't know why you would need anything else. If you eat there, it's all-you-can-eat with brownies and soft serve at the end :-) I love this place! It is sooooooo yummy!
We used to come here all the time as the food is delicious a d the price was always reasonable. With COVID making indoor impossible we wanted to see how they were doing to go orders and the staff takes your desired options and they PILED IT ON. Crazy value for the amount of food you get now lol. Highly recommend because the staff is great and the food is delicious
This place is a gem. The lovely gentlemen who work there are just the best, the food is delicious and great because everyone can get whatever they want! Kid friendly, awesome little Mongolian spot in Torrance.
Fresh, tasty food. Friendly service! Good value. It could use a new sauce bar, because some people can't figure out how not to spill them all over the place. Maybe a pump system instead of ladles. That wont stop me from eating there though. Give it a try!
Have been coming here since a child and now I’m excited I can bring my family and friends.
If you’re in the mood for something adventurous and delicious, head to Mongol King. It’s a hidden gem in Torrance, the Beef LoMein is the best you’ll ever taste. Get ready to have your taste buds on a wild ride!
The food here was delicious, and the service was quick
Absolutely delicious! Everything you eat here will be phenomenal. Best egg rolls I've ever had! Even the ice cream at the end was yummy. The staff is very kind and attentive, bringing you refills the second you glass is empty. Love going here for lunch and hope to be back again very very soon.
Have loved this place for decades. Glad to see the quality and freshness has not changed.
First time there on a late lunch break. Timing was good, i picked my items gave it to the cook n before I knew my food was bagged & ready. Got the dinner bowl with rice & lil naan like biscuits, cost just under $18. I have no complaints, everything was good. Next time i will put more seasonings for my preference but that's what soy & other sauces are for right. I couldn't even finish so Im glad I didn't sit down for all u can eat. Definitely will be back.
So yummy!!! We were in the area and didn’t know where to eat. Googled places in the vicinity and it was here or the Hawaiian place in the same complex. BEST CHOICE EVER!! This easily became one of my favorite places to eat. Fresh food. Good service. Go on the weekend.
This Mongolian BBQ is so good my mouth started salivating just thinking about. PRO-TIP - if you’re only getting one serving use broccoli around the edge to build a stronger base with which to build your bowl higher. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of that now but next time I go I will be sure to take pictures to show you exactly how to use this a Vance technique for the Mongolian barbecue.
I've been going there for years, service is always good and the food is the best of its kind. You make it yourself and they cook it for you. Dinner is all you can eat with the option to buy a single serving at a lower price. Vegetarian or Meat eater you choose.
No reservations needed. We went around 6pm and it wasn’t busy at all. We get a pot of rice and bread for free which was really good. The place is on the smaller side but that isn’t a problem. The food area is small compared to other Mongolian places. They have about 5 selections of meats and a good amount of veggies and sauces. They also have a dessert bar which is I haven’t seen in other places which is a plus.
Place was not crowded but not empty. Food was excellent with a variety items to partake from. For an all you can eat I recommend this place and I will be coming again. You choose what meat, Beef, Pork, Chicken, Turkey, and Lamb, and vegetables, see photos, then add oil, that you want and then the food is cooked for you
It’s my 2nd time around and it was good. Reminds me of the old days when it was on Hawthorne ave. You should try it….

Yes, ownership changed years ago. But I’ve been visiting this place for upwards of 17 years. I’m always treated in a friendly manner and feel greeted as though they’ve known me for all those years. The food has been pretty much the same the entire time. The staff has been there as long as I’ve been going there other than the cooks have changed on occasion. If you like Mongolian BBQ it’s a reasonably priced all you can eat place and the foods is good. In 17 years I’ve not been disappointed so I’m giving it my recommendation for this type of cuisine & experience. Great staff I dine in and do take out
The service was exceptional. I told the cook that it was my first time there and didnt know what seasoning to put on it so he did it himself after asking me what I liked. He seasoned it perfectly. Very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. They also include a side of rice and bread. 10/10
Always great food! Everything tastes fresh and service is good. Big portions for a good price, I always take home leftovers enough for multiple meals.
The best Mongolian BBQ place I've ever had. The staff is remarkable and the food is delicious. Huge portions and fair prices. You will always leave with a full stomach.
Mongol King is my favorite restaurant, period. I enjoy good food. I have many favorite restaurants for different types of food, but Mongol King is my favorite of all restaurants! I also enjoy reasonable prices and good service. I have eaten at this location for about 30 years. I moved away for over 10 years and the manager recognized me when I returned. Very cool. The food options are great. A good variety of meat and veggies. The sauces options at this restaurant are better than those at any Mongolian restaurant I have visited - and I have visited many. The soft serve ice cream is also great, either before or after dinner. I definitely recommend Mongol King.
We had not been to Mongol King since last year. Tonight 4 of us had dinner there. Everything was fresh and clean. The food was great and service was excellent. It’s a fun experience choose the ingredients and take it over to the cooks at the big wok. They cook it and serve it back to you on a plate. At the table there is rice and these puffy bread rolls. Very good. To finish off the meal they have jello, brownies and vanilla ice cream. This is one of our favorite spots in the South Bay. Go there you won’t be disappointed and you will not leave hungry.
This is one of my favorite spots for Mongolian food. Place is not that big and it has a split-shift. You could buy a plate or all you could eat buffet.

The food was excellent and there was a good selection and variety of meat and vegetables. We got there when it opened for lunch and all of the tables were dirty and the floors hadnt been swept. I assume it was left from the previous evening
This place is great!! I love Mongolian bbq. You pick your own meat, veggies and can eat it alone like fajitas or add noodles. You also add your own sauces. I did regular,Mongol, and garlic, and added the bbq oil. You have to add sauce and oil, or your food will be bland. The staff was short, there was one guy doing all the cooking, rather than the usual two. He still regularly cleaned the grill. We walked in picked our table, were served drinks, asked for extra napkins and water and were served it right away. They also serve steamed rice. There are yummy little breads you can pick, jello and soft serve ice cream too. And best of all, very reasonably priced meals. Clean ,spacious place, friendly staff, clean bathroom. Parking was ok. It's easy to find, you can see it from the street, don't have to search for the place. I have been to a couple other places like this, and this place is my favorite. Check hours of operation before you visit. They close for like an hour between lunch and dinner
This place is easy to access and hits the spot when you're craving Monolgolian. Since covid, they now do allow dine in with indoor and outdoor seating. You're able to serve yourself your portions again. Grab a bowl, or two. I like to have one bowl for meats and sauces and the other for vegetables and noodles. My serving size came out good for the price. They have added a nice desert area with brownies, jello and ice cream. They brought out the rice in a nice heated container and the whole meal left me full and satisfied.
Overall a great place with good food. My only wish is that they would have a little broader selection of items and sauces. I do love being able to select what meats and toppings and sauces I can have. Alwaysxtastes great! And the extras like bread, rice, ice cream and awesome!
My experience with Mongolian BBQ is moderately diverse. I first had it when I was going to UCLA at Mongol's in Westwood. To me, that set the bar and was the standard for Mongolian BBQ because it was always delish and a good value. Since then, the prices have gone up and they started getting stingy with the noodles, but they were still the taste I compared all other BBQ places to. In my experience, there are two types of places: 1. places where you do your own sauce selection 2. places where you tell them how hot and garlicy you want it and they do the mixing for you (like Mongols). Personally, I prefer the type #2 if they can do it well enough. However, I have been to Big Wok and now this Mongol King and kind of enjoy the control I have over my sauces since I can be very liberal with them. So getting to this restaurant, it's all you can eat, reasonably prices for that feature, has a good selection of meats, a great selection of fresh veggies, lots of sauce options with clear directions, two cooks working in parallel during busy times, and a variety of other accompanying items to enjoy (salads, soup, rice, soft serve, etc). If you put some extra sauce on (I usually double what the directions are just to make sure there is sufficient flavor and moisture) then the end products are great tasting and you will definitely be full (how could you not be)? The one complaint I have about this place is that once you are seated, the service blows. Refills of drinks, getting extra napkins, silverware, etc. either requires flagging down someone or just waiting a while. They have a "let's get you set up and then you're on your own" approach that I don't particularly like, but it might be the offset to the price and quality benefits you get. Summary: I'd recommend it because it's good and pretty cheap and filling. Just don't expect much attention from the staff.
This is old style Mongolian BBQ that was so popular during the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's. All you can eat(single serving option is available as well) buffet with frozen slices of beef, pork, chicken, and lamb, along with a variety of vegetables, that the guest piles into a bowl, along with their choices from a variety of sauces like garlic, ginger, chili oil, lemon water, and so much more! You take the bowl to a central grill, where the chief pours the contents onto the grill, and masterfully works around the large circular grill, until perfectly cooked. Your selection is removed from the grill, and presented to you on a plate, along with sesame bread. There is also a simple salad bar, and desserts. My only criticism would be that it definitely shows it's age, and would benefit from a facelift. Don't let that old decor hide the treasure inside though. I would highly recommend checking this little gem out! I'm confident you won't regret it 😋♨️🥩🍗🍖
If you're looking for alot of food for very little cost, then this is your place. I have it on the authority from a Torrance local that Mongol King is a local delicacy and I would agree. My only note would be to add some guidance on the sauce combinations for those who might not be familiar with Mongolian BBQ. Also, a little known fact, this facility is also known as The Big Wok by others.

Good for 22 folks for a going-away lunch. Clean tables and large cooking surfaces. The slightly staggered arrival times worked well in keeping the line short. The cuisine caters to both carnivores and vegetarian desired self-selections. Reservations are best made ahead of time a day or two in person. Food was fresh and servers were good. Fountain drinks are extra but reasonably priced. Had soft serve ice cream and jello for dessert. If you figure about $20 to $25 per person, you will hit your budget. Parking was a little tight closer for larger cars but with a short walk parking accommodated my Volvo SUV.

Overall, happy to have found this place. Loved the traditional pockets that aren’t offered at the shopping mall version Mongolian BBQs like Genghis Khan. The reason I’m only giving 3-stars…hostess gave me a table but just assumed I knew that “weekend dinner” was a mandatory all-you-can-eat purchase. No menu provided. Apparently it is only lunch time when you are able to order a “one-time-serving,” but Nowhere is this printed or posted in the restaurant or at the tables. Had I known I was paying for all-u-can-eat, I would’ve asked for more pockets (they only give two). But hostess never returned to my table. She did, however, happily check in with the table next to mine, and asked if they needed anything. She and another male host (mgr?) also took checks to diners’ tables in cute little black “check trays.” I never got one. Upon finishing my meal I had to go up to the counter & ask her for my check, in which she responded “Oh yes, I hv it right here.” Yet she never took it to my table…because…why? So, upon paying $26.26 for one single serving, I mentioned that I would’ve asked for more pockets but she never came to my table. Her reply: “Well YOU could’ve flagged us down.” Hm. Really? Is that the answer you want to go with? Ok. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t surprised that the tip was a big fat ZERO.
Been coming here for 20yrs still remember the former owners. Looks like new owners no more soup, wonton or veg rolls or salads. Rice overcooked and the price went way up compared to the web site. Food variety was good tasted good. Hate to say it probably will not be back.
Was ok . semi nice staff been there 5 times in the past 7,months .for lunch its great. For dinner I'd say so so. Got charged for 2 buffet when only one in my party had the all you can eat. Guilty by association I guess. . can't say I loved it but it didn't suck .iv had better tho.
Hats off to a great staff. Appeared that the cooks had minimal training and tapped what looked like machetes instead of traditional sticks. They didn't clean off the pad very often. Suggestion bring rice out in a bowl not the whole pot. The rice was clumpy and poor presentation. The patrons in line were just nasty. They were handling tongs after locking their fingers (3 different groups we watched -ice cream). Another point is why the ice cream machine at the start of the food selection was at the start of the food selection. But after the snacks, fruit, and desert tray. The layout was too small for the number of customers in line waiting. No person or instruction guides to help with seasoning (oils and sauces) the food. The staff was working hard and pleasant. They were outnumbered and doing the jobs of 3 each. They were victims of the environment - they were the only saving grace to the catastrophe. There is so much potential but swing and miss.
Food is great, but they did remove the soup, bread and veggie rolls. The last time I went in, the OWNER just stood there blocking my way to get food. He acknowledged I was there, but still decided to just stand there, not moving until after a couple minutes. I want to clarify, the workers/cooks/servers I never had any problems and I always enjoyed coming here but I think with everything going on in America today, people are acting how they truly feel and that is the vibe I got with the owner. I also didn’t appreciate his tone with the workers, talking down on them while other customers and myself were around.

I had the worst experience today, just came for lunch. Buffet looked pretty unappealing. Food was cooked for at least 2-3 minutes. Hostess was friendly. However, the food was just not good. I probably didn't add enough sauce for the food to be flavorful so it came out pretty bland, but the that wasn't the worst part. Right after eating I had the worst stomach cramps for an 1 hour in which led me to leave work early. The fact that food took only 2-3 minutes to be cooked means they didn't cook it properly, or it was not fresh food.....whatever it was I'm never going back.
Worst experience ever at a restaurant. It was dirty. Not to mention the ice cream machine fan was blowing hot air on the meat that is supposed to be frozen. The food area was really dirty. The chef came over and with his hand push off the spilled found on the counter with his hand on a plate. Do wipe down with a towel. Didn’t even eat there after I saw that. Almost made me sick. Felt like if I was going to eat there I would have gotten food poisoning. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!
I stopped by to get a take out box. I was told that consists of one bowl. Ok fine. I figured how much could it be? I usually fill two bowls at Mongolian bbq places, so each bowl is probably similar in price to half of what I pay when I eat in the restaurant or maybe a little bit higher cost. So be it. I was hungry. I went to fill my bowls and a couple of the meats were out and others were low. With people behind me, I would've felt guilty taking the remainder so, I wasn't even able to fill my bowls full, then I got the the veggie portion of the buffett. This had overturned tongs all over the place with the handle side in the food. Again, many of the items were low. The sauce area was a complete disaster that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. An absolute mess. I continued and finally dropped my food at the wok. No problem at this point. The chef cooked everything up well. Time to pay. My total was just south of $36. I am in no way cheap, but $36 for a dirty, unstocked mess was not even close to being a fair price. I can guarantee I'll never go back there. Mongolian BBQ in Manhattan Beach is head and shoulders above this place at every level. I'm astonished that people actually gave good reviews for this place. It was not good in any sense of the word.
A terrible experience by the owner and the waiter, my son had a craving and I took him, I made my plate, the waiter never came to attend, I get up to pay and ask for a box to take what is left of my son's plate. .. 5-year-old boy, and they deny me the box, telling me that I cannot take it home, I pay for it, my son eats very little because he is small but he likes it a lot, he wanted to enjoy it later at home ... They were claiming because of the cups of snow. I can pay for it, but is not the attention we'd expect to receive.
This will be my last time patronizing this overpriced & uderwhelming location. I gave it another chance based on my first few times going, but these last two visits left me annoyed & disgusted for a few reasons. Both times the food areas were glaringly nasty & the grill looked as if it had not been scraped all day. The noodles were hanging out of the tray & spread out all over the area in front of it. The various oils & sauces were not properly labeled to know one from the other, the glass covering the serving area was dingy & greasy looking. There also was very little meat in the serving trays, and what was there was clearly not being chilled as it was limp and lumped together, not in separate frozen spirals. The surly lil man came out and poured a few scoops in the bins when he noticed us just looking askance at the offerings. The bowls are so small, you can barely get everything you may want, & they expect you to pile noodles atop the veggies. Suffice it to say the service was nil, the food was terrible & rank tasting coming off that burnt grill & it was definitely not worth the $15 . Add to all that, the place has a very "meh" vibe, like nobody cares. We literally had to ask them to clean up the serving area & that's just unacceptable. Never supporting this establishment again, disgusting all around.
Gave this place a try, but it was extremely dirty. Dirty bowls, very little meat that was already thawing out. So many fruit flies flying around the food. The whole tong was inside the noodles, handle and all. There were missing ladles for the sauces and they were very low and no one was refilling them, the sauce area was very dirty as well. I ended up leaving after seeing all that, very unsanitary and the staff isn’t the friendliest. Skip this place!!
Updated review: If I could give 0 or negative, I would.Very bad experience tonight⛔❌, with owner as the star; our son wanted a plate and we went inside, sit on a table and prepared the plate/bowl. Waiter never showed up on the table, when he finished, my wife asks for a box and they denied it, when my wife asks why? They mentioned because of the kids took too much ice cream, of course we offered to pay the extras, then the owner argues with my wife😡😡, very bad 👎and we ended up to left the food on the table, BTW the rice was not fresh, looked old and no taste. Previous review: Good place to experience the Mongolian flavors. Indoor and outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the meal. You can prepare your own unique plate. Delicious and spicy, is up to you! My kids love noodles, and they enjoy every plate, beverageswith refills are available. You can add salad as you want and to complete the meal, the ice cream and or fruit. I really enjoyed the plate! The condition on the WC are on the improvement area and when they are cooking spicy plates, some customers are affected due to spicy and started coughing.

Used to come here ALL the time. It was our favorite Mongol Restaurant. Then we moved out of state. Decided to return to get some good food! Unaware that it closes between 3-4:30, we arrived at 2:45. We were told we could get to-go. Okay, we will do it!! Well, I asked for a to-go box for salad....no it doesn't come with it. Bread? No again. Rice? Oh yes, you get rice. We walked over to fill our bowl. No meat, of the vegetables only 3 or 4 bins had anything in them, other than dregs. I always get very few noodles, if I did that today there would have been very little in my bowl. I asked the girl for my box so I could put soy sauce on it. She said no, she would give me some. Two packs were not enough for me. Really, it was sad service and we were disappointed. We paid $30 for to-go noodles and a small scoop of rice. We tipped the chef, but did not add a tip to the check. The girl looked pissed. If she had thrown in some bread pockets or something, I would have been happy to tip. Don't want to ever return and this was our favorite place, we have been going there for 20 years. VERY SAD.......
