It's a family owned diner that's been in business for over 50 years. That's how long I've been going there. Old story for a review, but, true: great food, reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Our meal was awesome tonight and our waitress we think was starting out, did a fantastic job and was so pleasant and attentive. Thanks for a great experience!!

Very fast making the meals a lot better and cheaper gen mcdonlds food and it's all home-cooked d does have all the chemicals McDonald puts in their food and a real at McDonald runs u like 15$ and then they have the nerve to ask for donation I refuse to eat there I will only eat at the silver leaf r jerks subs and that's it idk why everyone else doesn't eat at those 2 places with them u get fast food and it's not freezer food it's always homemade and fresh from both of those places the only flaw the silver leaf has is the only gas 1 girl taking care of every table in there idk how she was doing it but she did she took care of every single table in there so the need to higher more waitresses but eating at those 2 places is about 10$ a person were McDonald is 15$ a person so there's no reason at All to eat at both of those places rather than McDonald's

great place to eat, best little diner for sure. all day breakfast or on of their many amazing specials followed by a piece of homemade pie, you cant beat a home-cooked meal for the price.

We were the only ones at the restaurant. For.a little while then more people started comming in. We had tossed salad and spaghetti and. Meat balls note two very large ones and home made rolls.very good.

This is a classic, American, roadside Diner with a clientele as friendly as the owners and staff. You can eat at the counter or in the attached dining room. Lots of comfort food and daily specials, and breakfast served all day (6 AM - 8PM). Don't miss the homemade pies. Pancakes and waffles come with real, locally produced maple syrup at no extra charge (although you can get the fake stuff if you ask). The prices? They put Denny's and IHOP to shame! OBTW: Recent ownership change - Traci bought the business from her grandmother, and has been putting in some new equipment. Her grandmother, though, is still on the payroll making great home made pies and doughnuts.

First time there. We enjoyed the family atmosphere since we are a family of 6. Our waitress was very warm and welcoming. She definitely knew her way around children asking for milkshakes when they probably won't eat their dinner as a result, lol. The food was great! We had breakfast for dinner with pancakes and omelets. Very happy that they offered different cheeses other than American (not a favorite of ours). Will definitely come back!

Great dinner. Food straight forward home cooking. Nothing fancy just classic dinners stuff. Staff is always polite and attentive. You get a chance try there Mac and cheese and meat loaf. Got that home made mama's cooking taste that can't be faked

We came in on the way back from Saint Laurence, fantastic place! Three generations work there and the staff was incredibly friendly. Portions and food quality were like you were having a family dinner (simple, healthy, and hearty) and especially the food was fantastic. Get a pie!!!!!! Great place, highly recommended!

Food is always good. Place is a gem in today's fast food eaten out of a wrapper fast food joints. Staff always friendly. I always get just what I asked for, cooked the way I want. Place is so busy sometimes that it takes a little longer, but well worth the wait.

Family owned and run, it's my comfort food go to place. Friendly and welcoming to all. It's like going to grandma's house for dinner! They fix off menu things if you ask, and you may find yourself chatting with total strangers at another booth. And the pies ... oh, my, those pies. Freshly homemade by Grandma, who lives across the street. She makes the donuts, too. Try breakfast, and ask for "the real stuff" with your pancakes!

The food tastes great. We were very pleased with the service. They were very understanding of having other sides. I highly recommend the poutine and the wrap. The curly fries were crispy and tasted great. The service was great they were periodically checking in.

This was a great place. They are kind of in the middle of nowhere, but well worth the drive. Went twice while visiting in the area, breakfast one day and dinner another. Everyone was very friendly and prices are very reasonable. The fresh homemade bread is amazing. Couldn't really find any thing I didn't care for about the restaurant. We will definitely come back if we visit the area again. This is a place I would highly recommend trying.

This is not just a diner, this is a place that really makes you feel at home with all the employees being very kind and the quality of the food always consistent and delicious.

After all these years driving past, we finally stopped in and that's when we realized what we were missing out on. This place is a wonderful little restaurant with delicious food! The breakfast was on point both days. They had the best ham steak I have ever eaten and the stuffed french toast was incredible. I highly recommend the Silver Leaf Diner to whomever drives by and is hungry. You will not be disappointed. On top of it, you can't beat the prices.

The wife and I love finding new little Mom and Pop diners to take the kids to because well I mean who doesn't love diner food 🤷🤤... This little place has to be one of the nicest diner's we've been to yet!!! The food was delicious and the service was beyond phenomenal!!! Our waitress just had that way or making you feel at home and like family 🙏🙏 10/10 highly recommend that if you are out near DeKalb, Canton, or Gouveneur that you punch this fine establishment into your maps and make the drive because you most definitely won't regret it!!!

We eat breakfast from 1-2 times a week at SilverLeaf. The owners, staff and patrons are the best. They greet you as you’re coming in and going out. Food is excellent. Homemade pies! At least 10 different kinds everyday. You need to experience this place.

I have stopped by numerous times for breakfast in recently stopped by for lunch and every time the food is fantastic and reasonably priced. One of the best diners in the area for home-cooked food.

If you want really good home cooked food, go to "Silver Leaf Dinner". The food is great. The waitstaff was very friendly, and the waiting time was minimal. And the prices were great. It's a little cramped. I promise the food is so worth it!! We bought 6 homemade cinnamon rolls that are worth the trip.

The food and service was incredible. It was a little crowded, but that just made it seem more homey. As busy as it was the food was still served hot and quick. You know it is good when there is a lot of locals there, who know everyone by name.

This Diner has THE BEST coconut cream pie ever!!! The cold plate was delicious and real ham and turkey. Great portions and very reasonable prices. Staff are very friendly!!!

Burgers are some of the best I've had, the breakfast is always awesome. Their specials are always good, the meat loaf, spaghetti, chicken parm, Spanish rice are always good,a must try.

Great prices, and really nice staff. I went as a part of two, right near the end of the service day. The food came quick, and although the staff said the day had been one of their busiest, they were kind and in great spirits. The special was fried haddock with 3 sides and bread, all of which was good. The outdoor seating area is lovely, and the staff are doing really well with safety measures during COVID-19. I will definitely be returning.

I stopped for lunch just passing through for Business. These hidden gems are the absolute best! Quaint little diner with good atmosphere. I was greeted promptly and told of the specials. They were varied and priced very reasonably. I decided on a rueben with Mac salad. It was brought out quickly by kitchen staff as the lone server was getting busy with newly arriving tables. The sandwich was maybe not the biggest rueben I've ever had, but it was prepared well with tender Corned beef, saurkraut and 1000 island dressing. The bread was very buttery and crisped. Mac salad was a great mix of pasta, fresh veggies, and hard boiled egg. Food was great! Seeing others reviews I figured that I needed to try the pie. I got a slice of coconut cream pie to go. Admittedly I'm not a huge pie guy....I almost look at the crust as a mere conveyance to get the deliciousness in my mouth. However the crust here is the star of the show. Obviously a homemade shortening style crust......it was flaky and delicious. Don't skip the pie here! I will be back next time I'm in the neighborhood!

The food was excellent, truly a home cooking experience. The owner was our waitress and the cook rolled into one due to the early hour. She was attentive, friendly, and efficient. I'll definitely be making this my preferred stop when I'm in the area!

Stopped at this Diner after a game...me and my grandson. It was my first time here. What a great little Diner. The food was awsome and the staff was very friendly. It's very small, which is too bad because it was packed and I believe if it was bigger, even much bigger, it would also be packed because it's so good. I highly recommend this little gem of a diner!

Deserves nothing less than five stars! The food is incredible. I had pancakes and a steak, mushroom, cheese omelette with coffee and toast. Everything was amazing. Even the toast in homemade. Got pie to go. The cherry on top was the people. Made me feel like family. I want to move here just to become a regular. Perfect food. Perfect atmosphere. Perfect experience!

The silver leaf is a mom and pop diner regulars and outsiders always welcome. Great atmosphere and the food is great, especially the chili. I'm sorry I don't live close enough to go on a daily basis. Score on a 1 to 10 base. This place gets a 10 plus.

From the time that you enter until the time that you exit, you are treated with kindness and feel at home. I took my dear friend, on her birthday, and what a gift she received! She loves diner cuisine and absolutely fell head over heels for The Silver Leaf. Our waitress never missed a beat with our party of five! The service was fast and served with a smile. The food was out of this world DELICIOUS! I had the fried chicken dinner, which I highly recommend that you order! I can't wait to visit this lovely establishment again and again. Too, homemade pies are phenomenal! I bought a whole blackberry pie. I was in heaven with each bite I took! Five stars just doesn't do The Silver Leaf enough justice. I give this establishment many, many more!

This country diner in Dekalb, NY is exactly what you would expect from a family diner: daughter at the grill, mom serving and grandma baking the excellent desserts! This is one of the few places I can get raspberry pie, and yes, I had it for breakfast after eggs Benedict! Locals drive from miles around to experience the homey atmosphere and plain cooking. Love it.

Great small town diner. I drop by here on my deliveries to the north country. The first reason was because there was ample parking for my big work truck, and now the first reason is the delicious home cooked meals and great service. You can tell this place is like a second home to many people and whenever I get a chance I get one of the lunch specials and a cup of soup. The people behind the counter and serving do a terrific job, and are friendly. If you want to feel the vibe of Northern Ny stop by, and be greeted with a smile and a good meal.

Best diner around. Always packed because it’s a small establishment with limited seating, but food comes out quickly. Great prices for the amount of delicious food you get. Always a list of homemade pies and cakes ready to buy by the slice or the whole thing. Very friendly family run staff. 100% recommend.

Have stopped in here a few times this year for their Wing Wednesday night, and haven't had a bad experience yet! 13-14$ for 12 wings these days is very reasonable, and bring able to split the order to try multiple sauces is what I'm talking about! I've tried the Mango Habanero, Sweet Chili, Hot, Kickin Bourbon, & the Maple Garlic sauces so far. The Mango Habanero is by far my favorite... great balance of sweet & heat. These are typically always cooked perfect! Crispy, but juicy meat inside. Diner food is always comfort food, but when it's done this high quality, you just can't beat it!

A great little place to grab some home cooking not far from home. This diner is always bustling and I've had trouble sometimes finding a seat. The staff are all very friendly and the owner is the cook. She always says hello and makes sure our food was satisfying. That goes a long way with me. I almost always get the hot turkey sandwich (pictured) and it never disappoints. Make sure you leave room for "Grandma's" homemade pie. Great place to eat.

Didn't check reviews first and came in here blind. Very busy diner but that's a good sign. I was allowed to order something that I love to eat that isn't even on the menu and they made it very tasty. Staff worked together to keep the service excellent. Really I think my whole day has been made as a result. Will return!

My mom ran this place many years! Same congenial place, hospitality😊 but men's room and accessibility could use some entry reconfiguration. Food was fine and ample. Blue Lake type green beens would taste better. Awesome server keeping up her deaf fingerspelling skills for deaf old folks like and my wife!

Little hole-in-the-wall with very good food in large portions. Pancakes, french toast and omelette are delicious. Small griddle and minimal staffing mean you may have to wait if they are busy but it is worth it.

If there is a rule about eating while driving long distance, the rule is always stop at the roadside diner with the most amount of local cars out front. Silver Leaf diner is one of those. You need to stop in the fried chicken's good, the pie at the end is even better. I've never seen a restaurant sell as many pies as this one does. If there's any downside, it's the sides which are a little traditional and pretty bland. However, staff is wonderful and you should definitely stop by for dinner

Silver Leaf Diner - I arrived with 5 others and they made us feel welcomed and provided us with an excellent meal even if they were slightly overwhelmed. They is plenty of parking. I believe they are more comfortable with smaller groups and dealing with local/repeat customers. The food was excellent. Most of the group had a BBQ. I had 1/2 a chicken. So, I could have used more/larger napkins. But, that was minor as the washroom was close and available as we sat outside.

I have been trying a lot of diners in this part of ny. This is my favorite. Inside is nice. Service is top notch. The food is amazing and the prices are great. My number 1 pick for this area. I had to travel 45 minutes each way to get here. Worth the trip.

Fantastic stop on the way to Potsdam. Classic diner experience with friendly staff, very good food and reasonable prices. Breakfast is great. Had the burger and fries on another visit, was great too! Pies look awesome, but I am always full at the end of my meal.

Waitress was very nice, place was clean. The cheese omelet and hash were tasty & a good portion. Beef melt was ok, but didn't compare to the old Arby's one husband was hoping for!

I ordered the NY strip steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. They kind of mixed up the order with the one I was dining with but they corrected it. The steak was delicious though.

Unfortunately we sat there and waited awhile to even get a menu ...the food was not to bad though and prices r good ...they were busy yes but even when we sat down it was like 25 minutes before even getting a menu and we watched other people come in and they recieved drinks and order food before we even had a menu or anyone to say hello how r you today😕 then never even came an offered us more to drink at all or checked on us but 2 minutes after we had our food we were asked is it all ok and then nothing ...had not been there in a very long time but not many mom and pops diners around and I enjoy going to them for home cooking and this just put a damper on stopping there again

Very surprised with our meal this afternoon. Ordered cheese bacon burger with trimmings. They forgot the trimmings, one side of burger burned crunchy black. Very small burger. The other meal was a two piece ham dinner. One piece was burned black on one side. It will be a while before we return.

Had a sausage dinner.the sausage was approximately 3" long and it was boiled so were the onions and peppers served on a hotdog bun . Tne bun was soggy from the onions and peppers. Potato salad was good. $8.99 was a little high for what I got
