Opinions de Jreck's Subs Potsdam
I love JRECK Subs! I always have since I was young. The best place and very affordable "MEAL, NOT A SNACK" like thier quote 😋! I grab a whole sub and a side. That enough food to fill yourself up 2xs! I always save half of my sub for the next day! It gets a tad bit soggy OMG 😲 it's the best! It's to bad that it is only a regional, and Not ALL OVER THE WORLD! If you are in Upstate NY (Watertown and higher towards Massena area) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ♥️ A VISIT THERE!
Always a pleasure to have good fresh locally sourced food 😍
Benn getting jreck subs for 50 years. Just as good now as my first ones
Soft bread! Everythings made fresh! Best subs in the North country!
Always fresh and great selection of subs and sides.
Great casual restaurant, Jrecks is always on point with their service and hospitality. highly recommend
Best sub shop around. Love the soft buns, always has good meats and fresh toppings.
Great food, great service. I'm always happy when I go, whether eat in or take out.
Every time in potsdamm I always have to stop an get a sub. Good food for a great price
Jrecks is always a great stop if you're looking for a delicious sub and sides. You can't go wrong here
There blt subs with everything are fantastic along with there pizza subs are amazing to get those subs if you go.
I am loving their steak & cheese as a julliene salad. So good!
Fast, friendly service, hearty portions of meat, and great choice of fresh extras. 👌
By far the best subs around... subway tastes like cat food compared to the legendary jrecks
Love coming here and getting a bite to eat! Friendly staff and great food!
Good food, place was very clean, staff was very pleasant!
One of if not the best chain in the north country. All the non-local friends I've brought have loved it.
Consistently good food here. Reasonable prices, usually pretty busy around lunch time. Would definitely recommend
careful what you hear about me, no im not a work snitch. perfect service
Best place to eat. You get more sub makings than bread...skinnier rolls not like subway there you get more bread than anything else.
Steak and cheese is the best, very good fries
Best subs in town. Nuff said
The workers do their jobs great to get our food fast and the way you want it, and the sub rolls are always the freshest around!
I can't really explain it, but I just love Jreck's. To me, they make the best subs in the world. Something about the bread...
Some of the best subs around for sure! Their buffalo chicken is the only I will eat, they make it right!
Very nice, clean and courteous. I always enjoy my meal from here.
Best subs in town for your buck! They make them rite and i find that as long as I never get oil, my sandwich is never soggy. Try the mac and pasta salads! So good!
Your usual reliable franchise sub shop. The food is always good. Fast service for a sit down or grab and go.
Jrecks tasted better than usual tonight! Took less than 10 minutes to get my order! One employee even asked another employee to fix my cold sub while she made the hot subs!
Clean establishment, friendly staff, generous portions and fair prices. Sub was delicious.
LOVE Jrecks! Their Mac salad is so amazing! I sometimes make 2 orders of it and take it home but I try my hardest not to get too addicted to it because it's that good!
This first time I visited this JWreck subs was before that weekend back in 1998 when they stopped taking checks here. Which is a smart move. Don't need the line held up because somebody is trying to kite a check to buy a ham and cheese. Anyways the ambience is the best thing about the place. The food is pretty good. JWreck subs is the place to go whenever you want a modestly price casual meal that reminds you of way back when Jimmy Carter was still in the oval office, ties were long and hair was big. In conclusion, five stars. Would and will go again.
One of the cleanest places I have ever been in for a sub. The lady that waited on me was very nice and helpful. I had the sub of the day which was tuna fish and it was really good. It was loaded with fresh veggies, and the role was very fresh. I can only eat half of it at once. What a deal for $5. Both employees that were there acknowledged me and said hi. I wouldn't get a sub anywhere else, if given the choice.
Simply the best subs in Northern ny. Lots of choices fair prices nice fast service.
Tawny was amazing! Honestly they need a raise. The other workers need a lesson in teamwork because they left Tawny up there by themselves while the customers were rolling in. Usually one person starts an order than another person finishes. Not the case this time, Tawny did it all. Thank you Tawny, you are awesome!
Best meal we had on our trip to Potsdam from the big city of Plattsburgh. Ordered online for pick up I had the cheeseburger sub and it was perfect no complaints. The wife got an Italian and her only issue was the thin shredded lettuce gets wilty and along fast. Her first time with Jrecks and she would return. Whomever was working was polite and greeted us as we entered and even yelled from the back to have a great night as we were leaving.
Best subs in the world. Signature flavor and freshest softest rolls to be found anywhere. Decent prices. Sweet potato fries were good but portions embarrassingly small.
I almost always get the steak & cheese sub with the works (onions, peppers and mushrooms). Never been disappointed.
Their ham and cheese subs are pretty good if you ask me. Way better than Subway.
Better than Subway, workers are never like.... happy though.. we should probably read into that
One of my favorite places. Always make sure I go when I go back home to visit cause there isn't one where I live now
Quick efficient no nonsense and with manors. Subs were real good too, soft breads, not crunchy.
Better than subway by far but still needs a little bit of meat quality improvements
Subs are good but side items are pretty small portions for the price.
Sub Shop- great bread three choices! Hot, cold! Fried foods, too!
Great place. It they need to turn the heat up. Very cold in there.
Good food. Pretty fast ordering. Prices have gone up faster than most places have.
The line moves quick, staff is nice. Love the soft bread and options. It’s a good sandwich.
I have eaten here since I was a kid. Good subs and appetizers both cold and hot.
Orders both a hot and cold sub from Jreck's. They continue to be my number one choice for every type of hot & old submarine sandwich in Northern New York. Their rolls are the best as are their ingredients. They always seem to always be able to manage a sudden influx of traffic with little or no trouble. And seem to be staffed accordingly. These subs have remained the same over the years with the exception of the rolls. They, in my opinion, taste the same, but the recipe has changed slightly. In fact, so slightly most except the oldest and most die hard Jreck fans are the only ones to ever notice. The sandwich shop has also greatly expanded its menu options in some locations, but this will vary according to shop to shop. However, for all those people who return to Northern NY for a vacation, reunion or other occasions will still find the familiar favorites and tastes that brought them to Jrecks all those years ago.
Good food, very nice staff. The men's bathroom need some TLC
The food was very average but the staff is excellent. It was an easy place to get a sandwich in a town I was not familiar with.
I have been eating Jreck subs since I was a little boy. They are just as good now as I remember them being then. There's a good assortment of fried "finger foods" for appetizers, a good selection of hot and cold submarine sandwiches (or "grinders" for you southerners) and the price is reasonable. The veggies are always good and they have a good assortment and have no problem with piling it up to your request. For me personally, I have always preferred their sub rolls. Soft, chewy and fresh. I know that I may find a sandwich shop that has high end sandwich meats, artisan breads, imported cheeses and dressings, I know that I'm going to pay dearly for it and then only be able to get it at the one place. I know that Jreck's is consistent, good quality that won't break the bank. Has been for over 40 years...
It was ok. The soup is good
Nothing special. My meatball sub was cold by the time the other sub was ready.
Good local place for a quick sandwich. Food is decent.
Not like it use to be, prices are high and quality is little, pay to much for a few fries or appetizers, may be enough for a small child,
A fairly decent sub restaurant however the prices are very high for the quality and quantity that you get if you're looking for a better sub Subway is definitely the way to go, if they lowered their prices and increased the quality and quantity of their food this could be a much better restaurant with some simple changes.
Not as grest as the locals say, but not terrible... don't order online. You still have to wait with everyone else.
The Potsdam Jrecks needs a little work. The food is only as good as the staff member preparing it. That being said, some of the staff obviously don't care about providing a quality meal to their customers. Go during the day and on a weekday and you'll have a great experience. Go in the evening or the weekend and take a chance on being ignored by the employees.
I had called in an order for seven subs. When I got home I checked my order and realized I had only six subs in my bag. Guess I should have checked my order before I left. I was not very happy!! And I had paid for the sub.
I usually have a great experience there but today the woman making my sub was obviously not happy to be there. Not once did she look at me, she put the wrong items on my sub and when I tried to correct it she argued with me about it. Thankfully the manager stepped in so my husband's didnt get screwed up. Then she stared me down until we left. Maybe if she'd looked at me while I was ordering it would've gone smoother.
Food and service are above average for the area. Getting here is the worst part. Small parking lot at a weird intersection. No lines or structure to the parking. You're better off parking in the lot on Main Street and walking to the store. There's no real line or organization to placing your order once you get inside. They have fried food. I'm not a huge fan of fried food, but my friends are and they said that it was serviceable. The subs are very good. Summary? I wouldn't go there on my own, but I don't argue if that's where the group decides to go.
The online ordering system must be very new. It was obviously not working very efficiently at all. It was a busy Friday night and there were many orders and customers. However everyone who called in or submitted an order online had to repeat all of the items that were expected in their order in order to get everything. My sub was not made according to the specs that I submitted online and I waited an extra 25 minutes after arriving at the restaurant for my food. The online ordering system doesn't work for this place. Not yet anyway. People who walked in off the street got their food before I did and I ordered online 20 minutes before I got to the restaurant. The staff was working very hard but the system isn't working. After all that waiting and frustration I get my food home and find out it isn't exactly as I ordered it.
Chain sandwich shops these days are all starting to look the same. They offer cold cuts, chips. and a few trendy hot sub options with the ability to make it a wrap. Jreck subs in Potsdam does this as well, with the addition of lots of other food items you can't find at Subway or other national chains. For example, you can get fresh salads, sweet potato fries, fried pickle chips, or have your sub prepared as a salad. This is why I give them four stars for the food. Otherwise the subs are pretty much ok, not great really at all. The service depends on when you go and where, but usually it's pretty good. Staff are friendly, if not always organized and greet you promptly. They do have a cash tip jar, however I wish they would provide the option of a credit card tip, as many folks don't carry cash anymore. The only real downside of Jrecks is the atmosphere. It's channeling some high school cafeteria vibes. The benches and tables are basic, and the decor is early 1980's browns and tans. It's not the kind of place you really want to sit down and eat your food. I always do take out. I do think the quality has gone way down since the 1980s and 90s when I used to eat at these sub shops regularly. The bread is not as good, and the toppings are lower quality and less plentiful. But that is the way corporate America is trending: give less, charge more.
My husband told us how he ate subs here when he was in college. So we gave it a try. The building is basic and clean. The service was ok. The subs didn't look special but mine- grilled chicken piled with veggies and mayo- was great. My son had ham and cheese. He said it was good but nothing special.
Service has horrible last few visits. Food is cold and the portions seem smaller.
Theres a certain worker that is so rude! I have went in twice so far to order and each time she had the same rude attitude!
The service is always slow when I go hear. I order fries and then they charge me for them and never put them in the fryer until I go up and remind them, pretty pathetic for the prices.
What’s the point of online ordering if your not gonna make it until the customer asks for their order
The food was 3 stars. The service was 1. Kind of like a bad version of a Subway, but with a dash of redneck thrown in.
Bland overpriced fry portion was less than a half order at an avg restaurant while good fries it was disappointing. Sub was a let down very bland with the usual stuff I put on it. Employees were professional fast and friendly though so bravo to them.
I've been a jreck customer for about 45 years. I have always liked the quality and flavors.. Yesterday was a real bummer. My 1/2 sub was built using two tiny microslices of tomato.. they might as well have left them off. About an inch and a quarter in diameter and 40 thousandth thick, they didn't even cover a third of the bread. Pitiful. Shamelessly cheap. The server thought it was fine.. "two pieces". She pointed at them to prove she had met the standard. The peppers were another battle.. she struggled to put enough in the sub to make it the way I asked for it.. can you say cheap? They are cheap with the ingredients. It's a shame. That's not jreck the way it used to be.
The extent of what the chick who made my sub said to me added up to asking about toppings and "yep" when I thanked her for making my sub. Now I understand it's the north country and they have to take who they can get when it comes to employees, but a little customer service training wouldn't hurt.
2.658 stars the bread was squishy soft cold and soggy :( , the service was okay👍, they had no olives :( , the atmosphere was peak awful 😡, Gleep DOES NOT recommend 👽
We ordered steak subs, the meat tasted bad, and service was slow.
I seldom eat at Potsdam jrecks any more because i always seem to be disappointed. The rolls that used to be soft are always hard from either sitting open or are just plain stale. A fresh roll makes the sub, considering the tomatoes, lettuce the little bit ham are none existent, as well as the regular mayo and shakers. I am only posting this because the sub I had tonight was truly the worst sub ever. It was edible only after I broke off most of the roll. I decided to read reviews from other patrons, and read one bad review after another. Don't cover up bad food with new advertisements of a new Jreck's or apologize after a bad review. Fix the problem if you want a 5 star review
I went in to grab some dinner with my family and was unfortunate to end up with Joe on the grill. My sub was cold in the middle and very undercooked so I was unable to eat it at all. Now if this had been the first time a mistake had happened with Joe I would be more understanding. The previous month my husband went to grab me a nice grilled sub and observed Joe not fully paying attention. My husband did not want to outright say he was wrong and instead asked him if he had made the sub a grilled chicken. Joe replied yes, twice and then with attitude on the third time. My husband asked as he was handed the sub "Grilled, right?" Joe gave him an annoyed look and replied yes. I opened the sub and it was fried. We brought it in and he never apologized then just as he did not now. Joe does not take the job seriously and will not admit his mistake. Both times he made someone else apologize. Today Emily was the recipient of his attitude. She was fantastic, going above and beyond to try and make things right while still being rudely spoken too in the back. Emily was extremely professional and showed us fantastic respect. 5 Star service from Emily. Joe needs to take time to understand that when you are working with peoples food you must show respect and care a little bit at least. I will come back because hopefully Emily will be there to fill our needs. Should we arrive and Joe is cooking we will leave.
Some cross contamination as they put mayo directly on the meat, but the rolls are soft. They do have online ordering, you can also call ahead they will make your order for carryout. Very busy during the weekday lunch hour from about 11:30-1. ---- Updated 4/23 FYI - The sub rolls are now the size of bread sticks. Their slogan used to be " a meal for your money, not a snack." Guess they gave up on that one? Corporate - what happened!? You guys were doing so good!
Owner is a complete jerk...rude...food was horrible Don't waste your time here...the only way he gets any business is from college kids who don't know any better (until they meet him)....
The absolute worse sub I've ever had. Very small choices. Subway is by far better
They litterly forgot about me standing in front of them waiting for my food and proceeded to still mess up the order I had anyway.
Jrecks is terrible. For the price and quality that anyone who isn't from here is used to, I would go to iga for a sandwich. I thought about giving them a second chance but my first experience was really that awful.
Terrible!!! Six people working and still got the order wrong. Employees are extremely rude and the food is disgusting. A meal that is not worth your money.
Quality of sub roll is still awesome, unfortunately the steak taste out dated and the cold subs way to much mayo and no lettuce to speak of.The ladies preparing the had rotten attitudes....p.s.dont expect to see much meat, you can read your news threw it
This location has gone downhill! I’ll drive the 30 minutes to go to the canton location from now on. At least that one is open when it’s supposed to be open. I understand things happen beyond control, but this location is closed extremely early on what seems like a weekly basis.
i usually never give places a one star, but my experience was just about that. when we first arrived, there was no one at the counter and we had to wait a good minute for someone to come out. i placed an order for a simple whole tuna sub on white bread with lettuce. now you’d think that would be an easy order right..? nope, halfway through making it i’m told that they don’t even have enough tuna for my whole sub. (mind you it was 2:30 and there were only 3 other people who were already eating in the store) i just don’t understand why you wouldn’t have enough tuna prepared. the more i looked, the more i saw that almost every container was empty. the girls at the counter were also giving us a bit of attitude which made me upset :( i don’t usually get to eat out much, and this experience was not up to my expectations and was very disappointing :(
Worst sub I’ve ever had. Tuna is soupy with Mayo. Hardly any vegetable options. Sides are overpriced. Decor looks unchanged since the 70s and not in a good way. I don’t know how they survive.
Hours of operation say open until 9. My friend and I got there at 8pm. There were people getting food made for them, and all the doors were locked. When I tried to call I was clearly ignored because no one answered the phone.
Went here last night, The food was okay, the bread is nasty customer service is poor.i wokeup this morning with a stomach bug. Go figure.
This facility was filthy and the food was sub par. When you offer a vegetarian sub and you have only lettuce and tomatoes, that's not a vegetarian sub. Lettuce and tomatoes are add on's. This restaurant should really clean itself up and try to draw customers. The other 3 subs that were ordered were also sub par. I spent nearly $30, I would have rather spent that money on anything better than this food.
Since when do you put dressing on the outside of the sub.. had to eat it with a fork. called and they said the manager daughter made them. Wow, maybe you should train her right. I go to Massena all the time and that’s not how they make it… the right way and it’s good. And my husband goes to Ogdensburg all the time and that how they make theirs either…… I guess training is in order for the daughter!!!
Came to visit some family from out of town, was so excited for my favorite spot to visit when I get in from Chicago! This location was very rude yesterday, specifically one employee! Please do better at your customer service, not very welcoming!
Very slow- I waited 30 mins for a sub and a few things for fried food, the people who ordered after me got their food before me. And I had to wait to be cashed out.
I went to Jrecks in Potsdam which used to be my families favorite Jrecks. It's changed!!! I purchased three take out subs. The rolls, onion were old and I asked for oil on side, as contractors wouldn't be eating them until 12. She gave me 1/4 of a small container, which was not enough for 1 sub, let alone 3 whole. I asked for more, and she said we only sprinkle a little. So I had enough. $40 and very poor customer service!
I will never eat at jrecks again. it is a cut rate subway and i'd not eat there either. hotdog bun bread, skimpy meat in the hotdog bun bread, flavorless chili and microwaved fried ravioli. it is also way over priced. while we were there something happened in the kitchen and a profound titrate followed. plus the rude signs everywhere threatening parking fines.... no thanks.
Ordered the sub of the day (seafood) and watched as the employee struggled to scrape what little was left of the salad from the sides of the container and on to less than 1/4 of the full sized sub. Subsequently asking the other employee if there was any more which was met with a shrug. Currently enjoying a nice lettuce and tomato sub! Thanks for that
