Opinions de The Lighthouse Grill Trinidad
The mashed potato cone was excellent! Really one of a kind. The staff was kind, burger delicious and perfectly cooked, and the location perfect. A must visit for anyone in the area!
A park ranger in Avenue of the Giants recommended we come here and get the mashed potato cone. It’s Wednesday. Google says it’s closed. We go to the pizza place instead. Across the street, Lighthouse Grill is open?? We ditch the pizza and go inside. Cashier kinda rolls their eyes about the cone and recommends the spicy chicken sandwich. We get both plus fries. Go to lighthouse grill. Get the spicy chicken sandwich and fries. Mashed potato cone is a nice set piece though.
I call it the dinner cone. Bacon cheese potatoes gravy and meat served inside a delicious seasoned cone. Wholesome meal 😋
Always a stop when traveling to Trinidad. Loaded mashed potatoes in a waffle cone are amazing, homemade Italian ice cream daily.
We came here for dinner from our campground and were super glad we did! I had the Crabby Cone - dungeoness crab and mashed potatoes In a waffle cone! It was SO good. We also had fries, a Nutburger, and a Beyond Burger - all were great! We finished it off with homemade ice cream - delish! The only negatives are that the line for ordering is very slow and there is limited indoor seating. The outdoor patio looked cute but it was too cold to sit out there. What a great find... Wish we lived closer!
This place is great, so glad we found it on vacation. Ordering is simple and the food came pretty quickly. Our kid liked her burger and my brisket sandwich was very good with a soft bun. Ice cream after made a complete meal.
The brisket cone was amazing and the staff was very accommodating to our special needs. Highly recommend!
Cute little grill in the tiny town of Trinidad! I have included the menu as well as the beer on tap. Service is super friendly and the art on display (for sale) and on the patio makes the whole place feels like a unique find. Eat lunch and then stroll done to the memorial for those lost at sea.
Our second time having take out from The Lighthouse Grill. A Thursday evening in mid May. Not too crowded. Service was great - nice person taking orders and the food came out pretty quick. My wife had a Fried Fish sandwich and I had the Beyond Cheeseburger. We split an order of Cheese-Gravy fries (it was huge) and a Greek Salad. The sandwich and burger were cooked spot on - both tasty! The Greek Salad was crunchy, fresh and loaded with olives, tomato’s and cucumber chunks - the dressing a nice slightly sweet Greek dressing. I will warn you - the one order of fries was enough for two (or maybe 3!!!!). Loaded with melted cheese and a rich gravy. A bit more seasoned than what I was expecting - but still very tasty - and filling.
Excellent food! The "All you can be" waffle cone was surprisingly phenomenal! I highly recommend it! Also had a cup of their clam chowder, it was pure ambrosia! So very good , also recieved one slice of what I think was a perfectly toasted slice of sourdough bread, perfectly buttered, to accompany it. They both tasted perfect for each other!! Great place to chow down, I would recommend the bread bowl of chowder though!!
Simple, well prepared food is the hallmark here. It was busy on the Sunday evening we were there - so be prepared to wait in line and then snag a table - either indoors or out. The fried crispy chicken sandwich and the tuna melt are both highly recommended. And check out the restroom for one of the most amazing toilet murals ever!
Had a wonderful time eating here with the family. I had the mashed potato waffle cone with a bowl of clam chowder. Everything was prepared and cooked to perfection. Definetely recommend going all the way with the items you can add to the mashed potato cone. I also appreciated the artwork in the area near the register. I love when restaurants do something creative with their decor.
The Spicy Chicken Sandwich was to die for! Greeted by friendly staff and even let me sampled their homemade ice cream. The inside of the restaurant is welcoming with a coastal mural covering the ceiling. A true Trinidad staple, I would recommend to anyone local or driving through the 101.
Creative, delicious menu choices with the option to dine inside or on the patio. My girls LOVED the savory mashed potato and gravy waffle cones..how fun! We also enjoyed homemade ice cream cones. Far less crowded than some of the other dining options in Trinidad. Definitely recommend!
Such a lovely place for a great brisket sandwich, NUT BURGER, or a cone of anything. Cute atmosphere, with outdoor seating and blankets for your warm pleasure. Pitchers of beer and homemade ice cream. The bathroom is clean and beautifully muraled. The wait time can be long, but well worth it. Staff is nice and friendly.
Stopped here for lunch while we were staying locally. Everything was great! Food was fresh and came out quickly even when the place was super busy! Do yourself a favor and safe room for their homemade ice cream! It was amazing.
A party of 7 had a wonderful experience! The fresh food was amazing. Out favorites were the fish and chips, mashed potato waffle and clam chowder. The local artist did an amazing job with the painting and decor.
Great access right off highway 101 in Trinidad California. Lots of great specials and good prices. The three of us got full on the fully loaded waffle cones with brisket and gravy. They had a sweet tasty Root Beer on tap, yum yum. The Arnold Palmer was perfectly mixed. 🥰 Just a delightful stop to refuel our bellies after hiking Strawberry Rock Trail.
Very good little waffle place on your way along the coast. When you're going into Trinidad it's on the left, right on the edge of the town as you exit the highway. Was busy when we were there, but the wait is definitely worth it. Parking all around the stand alone building, and seating inside and outside. Fully loaded waffle included brisket, bacon and mashed potatoes. Filling and makes you very happy!
Wowzer, I'm from the east coast, RI to be exact and I've never had a savory cone. I was a happy camper eating it. I got the works- so so good! The best part was that it wasn't an oversized cone filled with too much of anything. The proportions were perfect- potatoes, cheese, bacon, brisket. The best surprise was the savory cone. Absolutely Delish from 1st bite to last. Oh yeah, the Thai tea ice cream was darn good. I went back for that 2 days later and was so sad they weren't serving it that day. Now I'm home dreaming about both the sweet and savory cones.
Infamous for their Mashed Potato Waffle Cone - have it All The Way Everything, Brisket, Bacon, Cheese, and Gravy! Tip: ask for gravy at the bottom of the cone too because once you’re done with the fixings on top, you get to the bottom and have no more savory bites to top it off. Great outdoor seating, friendly and most importantly, best home fries ever. Seasoned just right and crispy.
It was our first time here when we went Monday October 17th, 2022 and they have the best hands down grilled cheese. I have been to many places but they are the best ever. Their hamburgers were amazing and my husbands pulled pork brisket was the best he has ever had. We will definitely be making this a stop anytime we go back that way.
The Lighthouse Grill has been a go to place for my family for years. Great customer service and food. We love to pickup food and or ice cream and have a picnic on the beach down the road. My usual go to is the Tuna Melt, today I got the fish tacos and was blown away. Easily 5/5 stars. Don’t be turned away if you see long lines as there is a very good reason for that. This restaurant is awesome.
Super fabulous fish & chips! Greasy, light and super crispy breading on the dish. And Lost Coast draft root beer that was to Live for! The “chips,” aka fries, tasted like they were deep fried in peanut oil, giving them an awesome flavor. We also had clam chowder with homemade bread—also very tasty. We sat outside in the open patio at around 7pm in mid-April and were delighted it was warm enough for us and our food. A lucky evening, despite all the wild wind we’ve been experiencing up the Northern California coast. Great place, so glad we found it!
This small restaurant is a gem. They use local farmers to source their wine, produce, and dairy resulting in amazingly delicious food. Their burgers are small portions, but made with locally sourced beef and are the best tasting burger I've eaten yet. Fries are made from fresh potatoes and ice cream is hand made daily from local dairy farmers. Clam chowder is pretty delish too. They even have blankets for outdoor seating for those chilly evenings!! Love how cozy this place is!!
A mashed potato-filled waffle cone was just as unique and tasty as I'd hoped. Got the brisket; gravy actually was seasoned with cumin, unexpected but not unpleasant! Cone has a bit of corn muffin flavor but still more of a waffle texture. Nice local support too. Worth a try if you're in Trinidad!
Oh my goodness! If you come here you HAVE to try the savory cone! Its so delicious and filling. Also tbe local root beer, delicious! Will definitely be coming back!
Family road trip and we returned here because the food is delicious. The smoked salmon sandwich was incredible and so were the fish and chips. Sweet potato fries are the best ever. The homemade ice cream was fantastic. We also enjoyed the mashed potato in a cone. A really fun and delicious place to eat.
This place is so good. Everything we ate was AMAZING: clam chowder with homemade bread, tuna melt (fresh - not canned) with cheese and tomatoes, brisket in a waggle cone, brisket sandwich, fish and chips, ice cream.... first of all the waffle cones are made right there fresh as can be. For the meaty dishes the waffle cones have a savory taste. It's so delish- you just have to try it. Also the it seems clean and staff is super nice.
Lovely roadside restaurant. We stopped here for lunch on our way to SF from Seattle and were quite glad we did. Their sandwiches, especially the bbq tofu burger and the grilled fish with jalapeno jelly was amazing. The service here is quick and they have both indoor and outdoor seating.
sometimes in life, you have the choice between 2 restaurants that offer seafood & burgers. but this one also has ice cream. the burger was amazing and the ice cream (home made with local ingredients!!) was top notch. such a fun cute local spot!! highly recommend!
The food is not fancy but is delicious, inventive, and more than the typical grill. We got the loaded potatoes in a cone - which were fantastic, as well as a burger with goat cheese and jalapeño jelly - also amazing. Don’t miss the fresh made ice cream as well!
Found this place on vacation last week. I love a good burger and my wife is as crunchy as they come. Two regulars, two gluten free and two lettuce wraps. All delicious. I had the local brewed root beer and kids had freshly made lemon sodas. We all enjoyed it.
A Hidden Gem with Coastal Charm and Culinary Delight! Trinidad Lighthouse Grill is an absolute treasure on the Northern California coast. From the moment you arrive, the ocean breeze and lighthouse views set the tone for a truly memorable dining experience. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with a laid-back coastal vibe that makes you feel instantly at home. The food here is packed with creative ingenuity, just look at the menu! From the mashed potato cone to the inventive ice cream flavors and the unforgettable goat cheese and jam burger. BUT THE FRIES? They absolutely blew me away. I asked the owner how they were made, and the process is next-level: first, they’re cut and soaked for 20 hours, then blanched, dried, and frozen overnight. The result? A crunch like you’ve never experienced before.. crispy perfection in every bite.
We just stopped in for late evening snack: strawberry ice cream (5) and garlic fries(5). The fries were hand cut and came with a dipping sauce. The fries were cooked to perfection, some crispy and some thicker, not greasy. They have homemade cones and ice cream. Large portions. Service was exceptional and atmosphere had local art vibe, clean and colorful.
Food was delicious. My husband got the savory mashed potato cone "all the way". He loved it! I wasn't sure if I would like it and to my surprise it was quite delicious. I got a burger with a side of hand cut fries. Fries were good and plentiful, burger was nice and juicy, seriously have no complaints.
Great little restaurant experience. Staff was very friendly at walk up order station. There is outdoor seating. We had California Tuna melt and fish sandwich. Plenty of food and delicious. The hamburgers and mash potato cones looked great as well. This is a popular eatery and filled up with locals and travelers. We really enjoyed eating here.
Delicious Food and Amazing Service! I got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich on a homemade bun, paired with garlic fries and a coke. Absolutely delicious such a beautiful restaurant! They have absolutely delicious homemade ice cream that you get in a homemade waffle cone or a bowl. My boyfriend got the fish and chips and he absolutely loved it! Said the fish tasted amazing and was super flaky and the batter was amazing on the fish as well. Highly recommend this awesome place. You definitely won't regret it!

Fun place to stop by for a meal. Always busy and always windy here for some reason, so dress warm! Worth the wait and a little cold weather if you have to sit outside. The food is great with a nice variety to the menu. The house specialty is waffle cones, filled with a variety of ingredients inside which offer a surprisingly tasty combo! My favorite is the brisket, gravy, and mashed potato combo. Worth the stop and wait!
So literally one of our favorite places. Especially for French fries and the cones. Recently though they changed ownership and we got our order with like a baby order of fries. Not sure what that's about but really I love it. Great people
The food we ordered was delicious. The fries were the best, and the order is large. I would get one order to share. I did not like the chowder at all. We wanted to try the mashed potatoes in the waffle cone, but they were out. The restaurant was very busy and a bit crowded. That's a good sign.
I enjoyed my burger and fries here. Would recommend. Alot of stuff herr is locally sourced and fresh. Will return
Customer service is great. Food is better than ok but there are some downsides to it. Beef patties were cooked rare. Didnt ask us how we wanted them, which was a surprise to us. And the price is exorbitant but so is everything out here. Fried are clearly natural and really delicious. I took the leftovers to our cabin, chopped it all up and made a hash for breakfast with a fried egg so we made it stretch better the second time around tbh.
Excuse the half eaten pics, as we forgot to take pic before we dove into it all! Hub got the cheese burger, fries, while I chose a lighter Greek side salad. I also tried their homemade soda, lemon mint, some may feel it's not bubbly enough, but I think it was just right. Not so sweet like typical sodas tend to be. Very refreshing! We ended with a shared ice cream cone, again homemade ice cream and cones, we chose the Jasmine Orange Blossom! Again, perfectly flavored and not overly sweet.. Why is it store bought ice cream is so sweet with such little actual flavor?? Great little place.

Walk up fast food that is exceptional. The French fries are a meal by themselves. The fresh fish is yummy! Small seating area inside - patio seating available.
There's nothing worse than getting fish & chips and have the inside batter be raw!! The hand cut fries had great flavor but they were under cooked as well. So disappointing $18.- w/tax

The cashier was cheery and encouraged us to getting “the works” mashed potato cone with brisket, gravy, bacon and cheese. We also tried the clam chowder and fish sandwich on a gluten free bun. I almost never say this but their homemade bun top was crispy and chewy and tasty. Couldn’t believe that it didn’t crumble. The fish in the sandwich was very flakey and tasty with their Romesco sauce. The clam chowder was missing clams. The price for value was on the high side.
Stopped in for a bite after reading all the raving reviews on yelp. It was ok. Our fish&chips were super greasy. Its unfortunate because the fish was super fresh. I really liked the clam chowder. They have these mashed potato cones th as that as re topped with bacon, cheese, and briskett which was awesome! Just a small casual place, nice people, good service
the lighthouse grill is a nice little restaurant that came recommended by folks from sue-meg national park. we enjoyed the live music and outdoor picnic tables. but be prepared for extremely slow service... the line to order food is out the door, and it took them 45min+ to just prepare our food. a bit long for a takeout burger and chicken sandwich
The food here is okay from a flavor perspective but it is very greasy and slightly overpriced for what you get. We ordered the beef brisket, open face sandwich and the crabby cone which were both on special for the day. We also ordered a beyond meat cheeseburger two orders of clam chowder and an order of chili and chicken strips and fries. The service was okay. They were not rude in any way but it was not anything that stood out either. They do offer both indoor and outdoor seating.
overpriced food with No soul. Mediocre Quality. Service is Ok not great customer service engagement. The Icecream Waffle cones are outstanding Yum! Yum! Convenient Location across from Trinidad Post…
We were excited to try this restaurant. It came highly recommended by a local and we thought the loaded mashed potatoes in a cone sounded too unique to pass up. After our extremely long and drawn out dining experience, I have a few bones to pick, but I'll stick to one particular issue we had: 1) My daughter had a meal that was NOT GOOD at all. We walked it up to the counter to replace it and there was no offer of making it right - we straight up had to buy a whole new $12+ sandwich (they don't come with fries, you have to buy sides separately). 2) We ordered the replacement sandwich and it went to the back of the line, which meant a 30 minute wait, after we'd already waited at least 30 minutes for our original order to get to our table. 3) They gave our replacement sandwich away to someone else. When they realized their mistake, they put in the order again, and once again it went to the back of the line. I couldn't believe it. I asked them if they could please move it up and get it done pronto because we'd already waited an hour for food (between the original order and the replacement order). They really made it clear that they didn't want to do that even though it was their fault that they gave the food to the wrong person. They offered me one ice cream cone to help me feel better about the situation. I told them that there were six people in my party, so one cone wouldn't really feel fair to everyone else (ultimately I'd have to buy five more ice creams). There was no other offer to make things right. The staff could have done a much better job at making the situation right. They missed the mark.
Just got home from dining here with my 10yo son and friends. I ordered the All In cone and was notified they just ran out of mashed potatoes. I should have ordered something else but chose to go along with it and get fries instead. I heard the cook grumble about having run out of the one thing that dominates their menu. I should have ordered something else. My son orders the kids burger and fries and adds cheese to the fries. Picture attached of the slider that they call a kids burger and the sprinkle of cheese that was still cold. You can see the pickle cup is about half the size of the burger. A couple minutes into eating the fries my son finds a ROCK attached to one of his fries. I bring it to the front and all I get is "we will take care of it". I leave his entire tray of food with them to get it replaced. Around the time the rest of us were finished they bring a replacement order with burned fries without cheese and another tiny burger. ZERO apology or acknowledgment. No discount. No nothing for something that could have gone terribly bad because of their neglegence.
We were so excited to try “the place with the mashed potato cone”. Since we have two very young toddlers we decided to get our food to-go. $60+ and a quick 10 minute drive home, and we realized we made a big mistake choosing The Lighthouse Grill for dinner on our first night of vacation. What we ordered: 2 kids ice cream cones, a kids order of fish and chips (because they were sold out of chicken strips), full size order of fish and chips, and the Lighthouse Jammin Burger. What we got: a giant box of very undercooked, almost raw, inedible garlic fries. 4 nuggets of fish that were mostly breading with a side of very greasy/soggy fries, and a burger that was dry (almost NO sauce, no blue cheese, as if someone had ordered a plain burger). Our family is on a budget for this trip and eating out one night was our little splurge. I’m just so sad we wasted it on barely enough food to split between all of us. We were there tonight, a Friday night at 7pm, steadily busy, but not super crowded. I can’t understand how the quality and quantity was so poor.
Place has really gone downhill over the years food quality wise... Seem to have gotten rid of the homemade rolls and buns and now just give you an untoasted Franz burger bun they buy at Murphy's next door. Basically $15 for a soggy burger and no fries, long wait, staff seem annoyed youre there. This place used to be great.
Cute, very nautical themed place not far from the sea, but NOT waterfront. This is a counter service restaurant with the food delivered to your table. The food is basically fast food quality at much higher prices. I had the grilled fish sandwich and garlic fries. The fries were extremely overpriced at $8.95. The sandwich was OK. While the proportion was very generous, the fries were extremely disappointing. They were very greasy and not close to crispy. The Parmesan was scarce and the garlic dip not really very garlicky. Pass on this place.
Fish and chips was completely inedible and was tossed away. Wish I had looked in the box before departing. Steer clear of these greasy duds. Stick to the cones.

My sister and my burger were both raw. Got a new burger but was then overcooked. Long wait. The rest of my family enjoyed their food, that's all that matters I guess.
Ordered the lighthouse Jamin’ burger and garlic fries did not enjoy my food at all for the price my wife got the kids Brisket & Fries yet her meal was as big as mine you pay fries and burger separately if it’s not kids meal…Sandwich was as small as my wife’s Brisket no flavor only could taste the goat cheese unsatisfying…My fries didn’t taste like garlic fries and the ranch that came out like pickle juice had to get ketchup on my garlic fries to make it worth eating only things they have going for them it seemed like there Ice Cream and mashed potatoes cone. If you go here be ready to pay a lot for food not worth the price fast food tastes better then this place won’t be coming here again…
First and only time visiting. The fries were mostly burned, greasy and bland. Burgers are tiny. Overpriced for the low quality food. They have communal condiments which people take to their tables instead of only using what they need. This leaves people without condiments and no idea where to get them. There is also a communal water jug which is used by many but I noticed many reused their cups putting them up to touching the spout, which is unsanitary. Wife got the lemon soda which is made there but doesn't taste good either. One of the worst restaurants in recent memory.
I came here yesterday. They were out of all dinner specials, fries, tuna, beef brisket, and grilled cheese. I got the Greek salad, mashed potatoes with gravy, and cheeseburger. The green salad was supposed to have cherry tomatoes, scallions, carrots, olives, feta cheese; which it did not have any. I pointed this out to staff and they assured me that this is the correct salad, and that the olives are sometimes at the bottom of the bowl. The mashed potatoes were very cold like they had been in the refrigerator, the portion of mashed potatoes in the cone was only at the skinny tip at bottom.
Beer was warm. Burger bun was hard?? (Stale??). Fish and chips had way too much breading and were bland. Fries were soggy and there were flies all over the place. The lady taking the order was nice but that’s about the only positive thing I can say about this experience.
It's not my cup of tea. The entire experience was not pleasant. Customer service was very unsatisfactory, and they rush you. We have never dined at The Lighthouse Grill before, so we were not familiar with the menu, and they do not give you time to decide and they are not pleasant about it. The staff at the counter had terrible customer service skills. It took a ridiculous amount of time to receive our order-I mean just ridiculous, and my fish sandwich was so terrible that I could not even eat it. It had no flavor-terribly bland, and when I took a bite, liquid filled my mouth. It was very unpleasant and unappetizing. Even the bun was unappetizing like it was undercooked. Then you are expected to bus your own table. I was not impressed with any of it. I do not recommend. It's too expensive, has terrible customer service, and poor quality food.
What a disappointment. The Lighthouse Grill completely missed the mark on quality, flavor, and customer service. The fish and chips were greasy and bland -- hardly deserving of the title "catch of the day." If this is fresh, I'd hate to imagine what it's like after a few days. Worst fish and chips ever. The fish sandwich didn't fare any better. It was undercooked and equally lacking in flavor. I found myself reaching for ketchup just to make the meal somewhat bearable -- never a good sign for seafood. To top it off, the service was lacking. A young blonde staff member interrupted our waitress mid-order without so much as an apology, which was rude and unprofessional. Overall, a very underwhelming experience. I regret not reading the recent reviews beforehand. I won't be returning. $78 in the trash. Sad, because, the location is perfect.
