One of my favorites! Food is not overly salted, has a fun atmosphere, and is an entertaining meal. It can become pricey depending on what you order, but it is worth it. My kids love the experience every time.
It is a nice place with friendly staff who are very patient and don't rush you. A reservation is best but isn't necessary if you aren't wanting to sit with a crowd, which is recommended with younger kids unless they like the action. If you don't want to sit in the loud area with the live cooking, there is a secondary room off to the side that is for quiet dining and still looks great. The walls are decorated with grayscale painting and they have a few interesting looking statues. These sushi rolls are priced very fairly, averaging around $1 per piece. Some of the more simple veggie rolls are only a few dollars too (less than $0.50 per piece). I got to see the grills where the chefs do the cooking. They are arranged in a rectangular "C" shape, with the grills at the two ends and the center open for the chefs to work. They briefly shut off the overhead lighting when they are going to do a flare up so that it looks more spectacular. I got a nice photo of an orange flame later in the less busy part of the night. The entire restaurant is decorated with a nice blue lighting along the walls and this completely fits the atmosphere. And some of my food photos, there are specs of glowing blue because the light reflection off of the glaze was coming from the walls rather than the ceiling. Ceiling lights are a nice warm light and not too bright but not too dark either. We can't wait to go back.
Great staff, the chefs are great & really funny. Food taste absolutely amazing. The fire can get pretty large & extremely close & hot, but the experience is great. Great place to take the entire family. The wait time can get pretty long for the hibachi area, but if you are just eating sushi, the wait time is just a minute or 2. Pretty pricey place, but you get what you pay for. I love bringing the wife on sushi dates here, especially when the lights are dimmed. Some of the best sushi in Tulsa, hands down.
I loved it! The food was really good. Of the three hibachi Steak House's I have been to in Tulsa, I would say this is overall my favorite. I will have to try the newer one down on Memorial for comparison. The food - I had the (Teriyaki) Steak, not the regular steak or filet, added chicken with Fried rice and all the fixins'. The steak was a smidgen undercooked, but it was also the last thing to make it off the grill other than the chicken, so I can't fault the guy. The chicken was awesome.....so good. The veggies were great. The noodles were like a 4.5, only because I thought they were lacking something. I'm not sure what, though. Food is overall 5 star for sure! Service - It was good! The server girl was slammed, so I could not hold it against her. She kept up and my drink was full, that's all I can ask for. Atmosphere - I liked the decorations, the seating was a little too close to each other, but not horrible. My only problem with the place was it is in need of some repairs on the inside. Maybe some deep cleaning, but that's just my restaurant management life talking. What mattered was clean. The hood vents, grills, food carts etc were all nice and clean. The hood vents were shining! Juat some paint, ceiling tiles, etc that needs some love. 100% recommend though! Best hibachi fried rice I have tried so far, the teriyaki steak was a nice change and the chicken was bomb. The only thing I liked better at the other guys was the ginger dressing. It was great here, but the other one has them in that regard.
Just went and ate here for my birthday with my boyfriend, it was amazing as always! Friendly, helpful staff, clean restaurant, and best of all GREAT FOOD! My plate was almost gone in the photo sorry I didn’t take one of my full plate. Great portions!
Hubby & I really enjoyed the cooking show and the yummy Hibachi food & some sushi rolls. Everything was spectacular! The food portions were great. We plan to come again.
Enjoyable experience, I had never been before when a friend took me for dinner. Let me say if anyone hasn't at least once in your Life eaten at a Tokyo Garden you need to. From the time walking in the door til walking out, friendly staff, chiefs are friendly and involve patrons opinions then the show you'll love it, ended with ice cream so parents I saw will enjoy as well. I'm for sure taking mine soon.
The guy we had that cooked our meal was so awesome! He was very friendly and funny as well! Food was amazing along with all the workers and wait staff! I will be going back!
Yummy! Super friendly and helpful staff. Good food! We look forward to our next visit!
Great food. Entertaining cheff, kind staff. It was a great place for my girlfriend to take me for my birthday, I had never been there before. Tried a bottle of cold sake for the first time and it was ok, got a good buzz though. The long island ice tee was good as well. Place is very clean. Parking is kind of tight. Would definitely recommend.
Great experience. The food was seasoned. Friendly staff. We were able to make reservations for Mother's Day. We were seated in a reasonable amount of time. Prices are reasonable. Food was delicious.
Tokyo Garden is one of my favorite restaurants in Tulsa. My family and I have been eating there for years. We go for any birthday or other celebration. We always sit at the hibachi table and order hibachi. They put on a show for you with the way they cook the food on the hot table. We also order sushi and always get the Oklahoman and the Dragon. The owner (I think is the owner) is always there to welcome you and seat you to your table. There is always plenty of food so I always wind up with leftovers for the next day. Family friendly, delicious, and entertaining. Bonus: you get ice cream with your hibachi meal!!!!!
Fun place for us to eat. Who needs a movie when the food is delivered pipping hot; plus your shoes won't stick to the floor. Everything gets a lump of "butter" uderneath and covered in a special sauce. So in reality that specific sauce is what makes this place authentic Japanese? Would go again, less dinero than RL. Obvious certain tables get a more lively chef stopper. Make sure to get a reservation on certain nights, great for parties of 8. Caught the spirit of Tokyo in one of my snaps, check it!
Had a great time the cook was funny and knew how to keep us entertained. Food was decent. The noodles they use kind weird tasting.
Amazing Time. Great Cook. I think her name was Kalista! She very entertaining! Everything clean!!!! Well serviced!! Wonderful Way to celebrate 🎉
The Chef is amazing, the staff are quick and friendly. Fun family atmosphere.
Easily seated 11 of us for a birthday celebration. Chef was excellent, wait staff spot on. Food perfect for all of us.
Overall great experience, no wait whatsoever. Food was hot and the chef even did a new trick that we haven't seen before (not our first hibachi experience) so that was excellent to experience. Even got free ice cream after our meal. Great food, great service. 👍🏼
Our favorite hibachi place! Great food and good prices.
Love going to Tokyo Garden for hibachi. Our cook was entertaining and talented. Our server was extremely attentive and was always on the spot with drink refills. Will always return.
Great experience and food was delicious. I’ve been to many other Hibachi restaurants and I can say that I’ve left a few of them still hungry… Not the case here! The staff, food and the vibe will keep me going back for years to come.
Very delicious! Service was alright. The chef had a good show. No yum yum sauce and only ginger dressing for the salad. Small portions and they have a bar but you can't sit at it because there are no stools. All in all I liked it. Might have to go to their sushi bar next time.
I use to work here many decades ago under a different owner. They have renovated, and the ambience is really nice. The bathroom needs a little sprucing up, but I enjoyed my meal here quite a lot. It was very delicious and very friendly staff. I didn’t enjoy that the server immediately brought to-go boxes and the bill right after the hibachi chef cleaned up/left the table. I almost felt rushed to hurry up and eat, even though there were multiple tables left. I thought the food was very delicious though. The soup and salad is a smaller portion size, and I thought it would have been nice to have tomato and cucumber in the salad (it was just lettuce with shredded carrots in ginger sauce). The mustard sauce was awesome. Nice touch with the complementary rainbow gelato.
Very allergy friendly. My wife and I are gluten and dairy free. And when we told the staff, they were very accommodating, even telling us certain things that were not listed for anything allergy. And looking out for us the entire time. They even cooked our food in the back to make sure it was separated. The staff was very friendly, and did not make us feel judged for the way we have to eat. Which is not the most common thing that we have experienced at least. Overall, it was a wonderful date for my bride, and I!
Went for my friends birthday, chef was funny and kind, service was excellent and food was tasty.
We took our 2 grandsons out for dinner. We ordered chicken, steak, filet mignon, shrimp and lobster. They were perfectly cooked and we had much left over. Sherbet was a delight. Good service and delicious food and the atmosphere was very nice. Highly recommend it.
Busy place! It was a fun experience celebrating birthdays with teens. Big big portions. The cook was entertaining and great with the kids. Everything looked to have been cooked right, I think it’s just not the best quality meats. The scallops and steak were pretty chewy. HOT it was very hot with all the grills, flames and people. All in all a great experience and plenty of leftovers.
It was a fun experince, our grill person was good. We all had a good time. The food was very good, well seasond good portions. I would go there again!
Sushi was not the best. Not wrapped well, and the rice was almost mushy.
Very happy. I like originals over the new place. My tuna roll was great.
First time ever at something like this. Was very interesting. Food was good.
The food was tasty, the show was outstanding and everyone was nice. We had a 5:00 reservation and we felt a little rushed to order and then when it was time for us to leave, the guy came and stood in front of us as soon as the chef walked away, asking if we needed to go boxes and waiting for us to pay our check. We ended up eating fast and taking a lot home. Might want to do something about the yellow jacket nests above the front door and around the side, also. I will go again, but maybe to another location.
This place is on the expensive side for sure. We had a family event and the final bill was 250ish. We did not order any drinks except soda. The cooks try to entertain but after saying the same thing 20 times a day they become mundane. Food is good but I feel it is over priced for what you get.
Our visit started off great. We had a 5pm reservation and were seated right away. Drink orders and appetizer orders were taken right away. Our drinks came out quickly. Our server took our meal order after bringing our drinks. Our sushi appetizers and gyozas came our fairly quickly. The gyozas were overcooked (see picture) and burnt. Soup and salad came out in a reasonable amount of time. Tempura shrimp took a while to come out. Our cook arrived and started preparing our main meal and was very entertaining. My beef yakitori appetizer didn't come out until my rice and vegetables were ready and the beef was overcooked and chewy. My lobster was overcooked and my drink was empty for 15 minutes. Not likely going back here.
This is the only Japanese Hibatchi restaurant that I've seen actually flip the shrimp into your mouth, which I REALLY appreciate! I loved the waterfall, bridge, sauces were good and happy hour specials too! Shrimp and fried rice were good. Great volcano with other surprises added onto it. Glad he used real eggs! Unfortunately, the service from our waitress was horrible, bad vibe in the air, the meals come with bland noodles that they don't put anything with, he didn't do any tricks, only the chef at the other table did tricks, no chopsticks, and veggies are extra. I know the waitress was training someone, but she still should've stayed longer so I could explain my situation and so she could recommend something. She acted like everyone somehow knows what to order. What if I have food allergies??? SHE NEEDS TO STOP TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM HER CUSTOMERS!!! SHE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT HER CUSTOMERS IS HOW SHE MAKES MONEY AND SHE WOULDN'T BE THERE WITHOUT THEM!!! It was slow at that time, so she had literally NO EXCUSES!!! Plus, it felt as if the employees all hated working there. I sensed resentment, disgust, and disdain. I wish they were open for Lunch.
The sushi is not its best here. The service was not good either. Sushi chef forgot 1 of our ordered rolls. The salad was runny lole they didnt dry the salad before adding the dressing. The miso tasted generic. I forgot why we dont eat here. Dont believe me? Go try it.
Salad dressing tasty... soup tasty... the food itself was ok..very polite but long wait
Our chef was absolutely amazing! Made sure everyone was taken care of and full of delicious food. Our waitress on the other hand was not the vibe. She had attitude at the table, I waited for 5 minutes to get a water refill… I would not be complaining if it were just me but everyone else at the table had gotten one right after the other. She also marked our ticket wrong and overcharged us. When she returned with the bill she threw it down on the table and said “here’s your bill” with attitude. Very pleased with the food, but service staff needs to get an adjustment and to also stay off their phones!!
The outside of the building is rundown and not well maintained. Upon entering the front door, the smell of Lysol cleaner is strong. It followed me to the table. The service was good by the waitress. The food was not seasoned and tasteless. Very bland. The salad was from a package from Walmart starting to turn brown. When the chef put the vegetables on the grill he said, "Japanese vegetables from Walmart". They were bland. Noodles... Bland Meat not seasoned... Added salt and it helped. Overall... Certainly not worth the $100 we paid.
The food was good. Our chef was great. However, the place itself is just run down. First thing I did was make a mental note of where the fire exits were. The floor is not clean. Neither are the walls or ceiling. No telling how much grease is built up of these surfaces. It is really packed too. We had to wait till till the chef at the other table next to us was finished before there was room for ours to wheel in the cart and start the meal. At least 45 minutes of just sitting and waiting. Not good. Been to others and it's not than bad.
We have dined at Tokyo Garden the last few years for our grandchildren’s birthdays. We’ve had wonderful experiences until this last time. We had a reservation for 6:00 on a Friday night. We weren’t seated until 6:15, of which we didn’t mind the wait. But I think the later seating put them behind on their reservation schedule. Therefore, we were rushed through our whole meal. Our kids love interacting with the chef, which did not happen at all. He hurried through his routine, barely speaking. We had brought a birthday cake to be served after our meal, but before we had finished eating, they brought out a tray of sherbet. Of course, when the kids saw the ice cream they didn’t want to eat any more of their dinner. The staff acted like they were surprised that we hadn’t finished our meal yet. After hurriedly eating the ice cream, and filling our to go boxes that were promptly brought, we just took the cake home. We all love the food there, and have always had a good time. I guess this was an off night, or maybe weekends are too busy to take time with the customers.
This was my first time here and compared to hibachi places I’ve been to in the South east, I’m only giving this place one star for service and one star for the taste of the food. First let me start off with I was absolutely disappointed that they didn’t have the traditional yumyum like sauce most hibachi restaurants. Their choices weren’t much of sauces and more like dips. Oily dips. That was strike one for us, secondly was the portion sizes. Absolutely a ridiculous small amount of rice, noodles and veggies with a meal that I’m spending nearly $30 a plate for. Our chef was ok on the theatrics of his performance and personality. Maybe he’s new and a little shyer than others idk. Horrible aim. No one caught their food in their mouth that made the attempt, I got food thrown on me more than once. And I didn’t even attempt to get food in my mouth! And then the final strike on them was when we got the check. There’s an EXTRA $1.75 CHARGE FOR FRIED RICE! What??? Seriously you go to a hibachi expecting fried rice on the grill it should not be an extra charge!! I expect when I go to a hibachi restaurant to take home at least some rice, NO! You won’t have that problem here. But the meat portion was decent. Rice has to be the cheapest side and they can’t raise the portions of it??? I will NOT go back to this place! Their food tasted basically like any other hibachi place I’ve been to. Just much less for your money. Attached are the photos of my meal. I decided to start taking pics of my portions only after I took 2 very small bites noodles and one small bite of rice afraid I’d have nothing left to eat with my meat, it practically got cold waiting for the meats to get done and on my plate.
The food is good and is a fun experience once. However, the food is okay, but is expensive given the quality. The restaurant this time was unclean. The table was greasy when we were sat, the chairs were sticky, the carpet was gross, and the walls were likewise. Service was okay, our server seemed to be a little standoffish, and we didn't recieve a part of our order. The chef was reasonably fun and was on par. I was not impressed given the price.
The last two times we've been, the service was nowhere to be found at the hibachis. Completely out of drinks and the server only showed up to get the checks. Not to fault the servers, the place appeared completely understaffed. The sushi and food is great always but the experience, not so much. We will doordash for a while and try them again in a year or so.
I paid $111 for 3 meals that were only filled 1/2 full. My filet and scallops literally only had less that 3 scallops in the box! Not worth the $$$’s we paid! Will be taking our business elsewhere…
Didn't see the hype 4 year hibachi veteran felt like he was hired yesterday Ok to go elsewhere for dinner
The rice is nasty and salty and they give imitation crab with the sushi and its oodly sweet.
My wife daughter, son and myself sat down and ordered About 30 minutes later my wife and daughter got their food. Then another 20 minutes I got mine and was still waiting on my son's food he is 11. I was done with my food and I had to go to the manager to get my son's food. Terrible service and letting a child sit and wait for everyone to eat was the worst experience I had ever had.
Staff is nice. Good service. Restaurant is dilapidated. Every item ordered was not good. Extremely salty, over cooked and/or no seasoning at all.
Made a reservation was still placed on a 20 minute wait , arriving on time to reso . The in the middle of the “chef” doing his show for our table he dropped the egg on the ground and picked it up and still proceeded to cook with it (uncracked) but I still felt like that should of been some type of health violation. Food was very under seasoned and not good at all .
