World class sushi for sushi connoisseurs. One of the best sushis places in Mexico.
The sushi was really good and the poke bowl! Authentic japanese cuisine!
Amazing food, best Japanese food I have ever tried out of Japan. It is spectacular, very fresh. The service is amazing and Carlos is very friendly, we felt very well treated. This is the second time we came and we will come back!
I love this place. They serve authentic japanese food with a beautiful view. The service is great, the prices are good, and the quality of the food is incomparable to any other sushi place in tulum. Would recommend.
I'm Japanese guy so I like sushi very much. But when I try to go to sushi restaurant at any place of forein country, always that is far from Japanese sushi. But about this restaurant is real Japanese sushi because the owner sheaf is Japanese. If you want to eat real sushi, you should come here.
Fresh sushi, great drinks 😉, awesome serving staff(Freddie), and a view you can’t beat! Must visit!
Love love love! Best sushi in tulum for sure. The chef is very skilled and professional, atmosphere is a dream, and so is the fish.
Delicious!!!!!!!!!!! I definitely recommend this place if you want to eat a real Japanese food with a great view. The chef is so kind and attentive
Kogure is a little gem in tulum. If you are a sushi fanatic like me you need to try Kogure. Yusuke the owner and chef as good japanese takes care of every detail and you will eat AMAZING.
Fantastic food and demonstration . Perfect location on the beach. The owner and chef is super friendly and made the grill salmon exactly as my little guy wants!
Best Japanese food I have had in several years! Authentic and delicious! 100% and more recommend!
This is the best, freshest, most delicious sushi I have found in North America, and I love sushi. A hidden gem.
Amazing sushi with a great beach view and vibe. Highly recommend Kogure if you are hanging out in the playa paraíso area.
Great nigiris. High quality. Similar to Kuu but for less than a quarter of the price
After being in japan for almost a year, I can say that I felt like I was back in Okinawa, the respect, pride and dedication of the chef was iconic of Japanese culture.
Tonkotsu Ramen is amazing. I don't really eat sushi but I tried some and it was great.
Vraiment a faire
The food quality is insane. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The service was very good and the view was immaculate. This is the best sushi I've had in Tulum, if you have a chance, you have to try it.
Surprisingly good. Really enjoyed the rock shrimp appetizer (lightly tempura breaded), nigiri, soft shell crab roll, veggie fried rice, miso soup. Service was great, music choice was chill and excellent. Outdoor seating in the sand or indoor seating Would go again for a reasonably priced change of pace in Tulum
Hard to see from the beach, and looks very casual, but amazing food. Fish was so fresh and delicious. It really melted in my mouth. I would come back here often given the chance. I’m picky (snobby) when it comes to Japanese food/sushi.
Beach front with a beautiful view, this restaurant is to die for. The service is great with the kindest servers and the drinks are always on point. The fish is always fresh and the food in general is consistently high quality and authentic Japanese. Could not recommend a place more. I’m always begging to go back and I’ve been more times than I’d like to admit. Eat here!!
The food & service at Kogure were exceptional! My husband and I shared the spicy tuna roll, tuna poke and several of the traditional skewers (steak, chicken and pork belly) - all were outstanding! From the delicate and thoughtful preparation to the flavor we were completely impressed and can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough! One of our absolute favorite meals in Tulum!
We had lunch here during the day. It was beautiful! No wait time, the food was amazing, and the staff was great while we were eating sushi on the beach. Their sauces are super yummy too! There were not a lot of options (for sushi) but it did have a variety of food they offered like ramen and vegetarian options for sushi.
Stayed at the hotel, not really there fault that the beach sucks because of the sargassum but this restaurant is really good, weather it’s by the Japanese chef or by his sous-chef, the sushi and tempura is one of the best I’ve had.
Food was great! Pricey…because it’s Tulum. Super friendly service and every dish was quite enjoyable! We walked on the beach to the resto from our hotel and didn’t have to put on shoes as the tables were on the sand :)
As a self proclaimed nigiri connoisseur, this is an absolutely gem & highly underrated. The quality of fish was comparable to KUU Tulum (which is around $2800 pesos per person for a 14 course omakase). Here, we paid a bit over $600 pesos for 12 omakase nigiris: the quality was the exact same as that of KUU. We ended up ordering another course of 12 omakase nigiris, still being half the price of KUU for double the amount. The fish is fresh, perfectly cut. The quality is amazing. If you understand quality nigiri and aren’t there to eat an all you can eat sushi roll, you will have a great experience. The head Chef is from Japan. Incredibly friendly staff. We will definitely be coming back upon returning to Tulum
Absolutely fantastic Japanese cuisine. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen and my partner had the Tuna Poke Bowl. Both were very well made and delicious, tho the ramen noodles were not quite at the same level as the broth. We plan to go back for lunch as this is easily one of the best places we have eaten in Tulum and probably some of the best food we have had on the beaches. Edit: Went back for lunch and had the Toro, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Soft Shell Crab Roll. Absolutely amazing. Definitely the best food we have had in Tulum! Service was good, my only concern was that when we paid with a card they took it out of my sight, which made me very uncomfortable. Probably would rate a 4.5 stars for that if I could. I would suggest that people pay with cash or that the business get a portable card reader like almost every other restaurant in the area.
It has been over 3 years since last I wrote a review for any restaurant, and not because of COVID-19, please read on... I've been touring Riviera Maya for the last 10 days and as a foodie my traveling experience is usually measured by the food I eat. Eating at chef Yosuke Kogure's Kogure meant experiencing joy like I seldom experience nowadays when going to a restaurant, it is the proverbial return of flavor as has not existed for years. Domo arigatou Kogure-san!
Kogure is located within Pocna Hotel and we went past it many times a day from our hotel that was down the road. It was a beautiful beach setting - everything was super clean. I ordered the salmon poke and the fish was so fresh! My boyfriend ordered the pork belly fried rice and was absolutely blown away by how such a simple dish could taste so amazing. We wanted to come back the next day but everything was shutting down due to a hurricane coming in and we were forced to evacuate to a hotel further inland. I'll definitely be coming back next time!
Good spot on the beachfront. Sea breezes and roaring waves with some great sushi.
Food is amazing, it’s hard to find authentic Japanese in Tulum, this place is delicious. We had ramen, full omakase and fried rice. NYC prices like most places on the beach side But I was disappointed with the size of the portions entrees are way too small, almost like an appetizer, keep in mind
Good place, good food, I like the real Japanese chef He looks handsome ... and give that impression to the place, Service little bit slow.
Perfect spot for some relief from the sun and fresh sushi. We got the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls and the tuna poke bowl… everything was delicious. Only problem we got take out and they didn’t give us chopsticks.
Very good place, delicious food and cheaper than in the center of Tulum facing the sea All fresh and carefully selected :D
Cute restaurant right on the ocean. My server was really nice, but he was very busy since he was the only one on the floor. I ordered the fresh catch of the day seabass); unfortunately it was not a fresh and was clearly frozen (my fault for not checking to see what fish are local to the area!). Otherwise, this is a cute spot for a drink and to soak up the ocean breeze.
First time I went was wonderful. Great Sake beer and Salmon Rice. Second time service was really slow and me and the friend who ordered the same (miso soup) ended up with food poisoning for two days 😬
Qualità da buon all you can eat… niente più, menú básico
Great atmosphere, right next to the beach, but you shouldn’t expect Japanese food/tastes. The tempura is not crispy, the wasabi is horseradish, and the rice doesn’t taste like Japanese rice at all.
$50 for barely any food, and $5 for a small bowl of white rice. Not worth it. Still hungry.
The food was very expensive and not the quality I would expect for the price. 2 apps and a ramen bowl were $80 US. We tried to go to the other half of the restaurant with Mexican American food and they told us it was closed (people cam in to the other side while we were eating)
I have no idea why there are so many positive reviews. Very basic sushi options, which wouldn’t be bad if it was prepared well . It was not. Not sure what else to add, we had 3 rolls, neither tasted great. Service was ok, given the one waiter that was running around, poor guy. Ambiance- beach, ocean - awesome
We were excited because the website made this restaurant look great. While the sushi was good and the chef seemed very skilled, our overall experience was not great. 2 stars because the restaurant did not feel clean and the staff was not taking any covid-19 precautions seriously. No one was wearing masks when preparing the food. Waiters were excessively touching everything on our table. Cocktail was not made well either. I would not recommend it when there are so many other places to try in Tulum.
Walked a significant distance down the beach as they said they were open. They were closed when we got there despite saying open in Google.
If you step into this restaurant, you lose a chance of encountering a fine restaurant in tulum. Why do I rate 1 star? #food wise Not good quality Not good taste I would say that I would not accept to eat the food even if they pay me 100 dollar. #Service wise Waited 20 mins for the menu It rained in a sudden, my place outside has no shelter but no one came to help move the food indoors Tip at least 15% is the rule, however unsatisfied I am.
Oct 2024 Good luck finding the place. Google maps has you going down some shady roads to get there, and there's security that won't let you go down towards the place. Seems to be a private location. Security said a reservation is required.
Not a shred of evidence of expert Japanese sushi. Very basic, and overpriced, fare. On top of that a treacherous walk just to get there.
Couldn’t make it to reservation due to lack of instructions given by the restaurant. Google maps currently routes you through the ruins road, and that of course is closed. The only other way had a checkpoint that we were turned away from probably due to language barriers between me and police. Nowhere in the reservation do they tell you about the construction or the process needed to drive to the restaurant.
We left before eating. We arrived at 9:00 pm for dinner, but from the start the waitstaff did not make us feel welcome and seemed reluctant to accommodate us, even though the restaurant closes at 10:30 pm. After sitting down and trying to order, we explained that my boyfriend is celiac and cannot eat gluten. The waiter told us that the only thing he could eat was edamame, as all other dishes contained soy sauce. At countless sushi restaurants we have visited around the world, staff have been able to accommodate gluten-free requests by simply removing soy sauce. Here, there was no willingness to do so. Given the lack of accommodation and hospitality, we decided to leave.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. The wait for the dishes was an eternity, and the quality was far from acceptable. Years ago, they had a Japanese chef who cooked very well, but unfortunately, he is no longer there. The high ratings are clearly for the previous chef—this place is definitely not worth a 4.5 anymore. Do yourself a favor and look for another option. Honestly, fasting seems like a better choice. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.
I expected authentic food because the restaurant appeared to be run by a Japanese chef, but the sushi rolls were not made in the traditional way. The rice was also hard, despite the fact that the salmon used in it was reasonable. Sashimi, on the other hand, was not as fresh as expected. The service was pleasant, but the food was a disgrace to Japanese cuisine. Perhaps the chef was not working at the time, and guests at the beachclub are treated differently from those who have a reservation at the restaurant?
