A lovely restaurant with beautiful sunset. I really have a great time with my wife.

My wife and I wanted to try something different so we noticed The Flying V was highly recommended on trip advisor. This place did not disappoint. We started with the calamari, it was wonderful! For our main course we went with the highest recommendation from our waiter John, which was the ahi tuna and the beef tenderloin. It was amazing! We had no room for dessert but we finished our evening with nice sipping tequilas. We will indeed come back! Great food great service!

Me and my husband came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we really enjoyed it, the place has a great view, great atmosphere, great food and great service! The only thing is that they were having a guitar player but the music was just inside the restaurant, we would enjoyed some music at the outside part of the restaurant too.

We stopped by for a drink and watched the sunset, then stayed for dinner. Wine by the glass is limited, but adequate. What came out of the kitchen, however, was outstanding: steak tartar with nopales followed by seared diver scallops over toasted farro with a mild-flavored creamed spinach.

Love this place. Second time here. We sat on their patio with our puppy this time. Servers were on point. Food was great. The summer berry salad was a perfect appetizer for a warm night. Ladies had filets and I had the duck. The smoke and honey drink is outstanding if you like spirit forward, classic cocktails. Order the hummingbird cake for dessert, you will not be disappointed. Salud!

I am a new transplant from NY. I am used to fine dining. This is a destination place perfect for a special dinner. Not stuffy or too formal. Guitar player in the back round playing classical music softly. Wonderful wine list that pairs well with the menu. Food is a true fine dining experience. Beautiful room, ask for a table with a view. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Probably the best place for a casual and elegant dinner in Tucson.

Great food, awesome views, and excellent service. The property is beautiful and they have good happy hour prices from 530pm to 7pm on the weekdays. I'll be back her again for sure.

Wanted a fancy place for Valentine's dinner- did not disappoint! Beautiful views, excellent service, great-5 star resort style amenities (like cloth towels in the bathrooms). Excellent, unique food. Most menu items have a southwestern flair. I am not an adventurous eater and was very happy with every unique touch to all items including the ribeye steak that was very tender and cooked to perfection. Extra staff ensured excellent, fast, professional service.

I visited the restaurant on a busy Friday night. I was not feeling well and I eventually got violently ill. The staff were so kind to me. I was very embarrassed to mess up their bathroom on a busy night but nothing was too much bother. The manager later sent some chicken noodle soup to my room which was a lovely touch. My husband was able to eat his meal and he enjoyed it. Thank You so much for such kind gestures.

We had an exceptional meal and experience! The service was superb and the staff very accommodating to my date's physical injury. The short rib taco appetizer was terrific, as were the rib and hamburger main courses. The hazelnut tres leches dessert and mango sorbet were a great end to the meal. And we so appreciated the heaters on the outdoor patio with a beautiful view of the city lights. This is a perfect spot for a romantic dinner.

The food was amazing!! Our waiter Cole was exceptionally amazing at his job! He made us feel welcomed, helped choose a delicious wine and really let us eat at our own pace! Loved every minute of our time here.

We were there the first time this Thanksgiving. They had a special Thanksgiving menu that was phenomenal. The turkey was good, but the sides really made the meal. I think they tried to include something traditional from many regions in the US. It was a nice Thanksgiving meal. We'll be back.

I took my father here for a nice dinner with great atmosphere. They had a really good guitarist, Gabriel Francisco, a Spanish Guitarist, he was loud enough without being too loud. The prime rib was prepared perfect and the scallop potatoes were exceptional. Cesar salad was so fresh. I really enjoyed my cocktail plus the waiter was great.

Excellent service and atmosphere, with beautiful indoor and outdoor dining options. Good food presentation. A little pricey. Sunsets and overlooking the water, golf course, city and mountains are worth the visit.

Been wanting to enjoy the Flying V for the view of the mountains, waterfall, and golf course for a while. Nom nom'd on octopus, short rib tacos, and some nummy cocktails while just enjoying the relaxing sounds of water ... "serenity now" as George Castanza would say 🥰

With zero management support..Cole you are a true professional..You handled our birthday table( 4 top by fireplace) with grace and with the help of other hourly staff members during a very busy night handling multiple tables inside and outside..Thank you Cole. To upper management. We almost did not come in on Tuesday due to your hours showing closed Mondays and Tuesdays?

The wait staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to answer any question we had, as well as provide excellent recommendations. The first night I had the short rib, which was a huge delicious portion. But my favourite entree was the duck confit. Every bite was magical, and the polenta was the best I've ever had.

Great environment and decent food if you are staying in the hotel. Staff is great and will take your order asap. Love the wait time even if is packed, they will manage to serv your food in a timely manner. Friendly place with a sport bar showing games pretty much all day.

Contrary to belief, this restaurant has a entirely separate menu that caters to vegetarians and vegans! Everything we tried was absolutely divine, from the legendary tableside guac to oyster mushroom tacos. Besides the food, service was top notch and views were impeccable. This is the romantic dinner spot you've been looking for. Sunset on the patio 100% recommend.

Really nice sunset lights to enjoy our dinner. Shane our super server was very attentive and professional. Excellent selection of food. Kids got a snack on the house and it was on point…first time. Perfect spot to celebrate my 50th birthday! It’s got it all, water view, mountains, sunset and great atmosphere.

Absolutely the best meal we've had in so long. The cornbread with local honey comb & jalapeno jam was exquisite. The Diver scallops were beyond incredible. The ribeye was impeccable. Probably the best meal we've had in months. Our server, Cole, was absolute perfection. He made the experience perfect Just beyond amazing in every way: food, ambiance, service.

I had an impromptu trip up for dinner on Halloween. The food was amazing. I absolutely loved the menu, and the selection. The tableside guacamole was excellent. The crab and shrimp appetizer was a great compliment to counter it. I ended up ordering the lamb birria for dinner and it was cooked perfectly. The house margaritas went well with everything we had as well. We will be back again soon, and I will definitely be recommending this spot to friends and family to go and experience for themselves.

Made a last-minute reservation and had excellent service. The gazpacho soup was delicious and smoky. However, I usually prefer a little thicker and texture. Still amazing taste. Also had the mix salad which was absolutely seasoned perfect with nice fresh vegetables.

Wow! This place for dinner was amazing! My sister order scallops, I ordered duck, and my husband got steak. The price was worth it! The flavor for it's price was great! We also got the pork and fruit appetizer. But I would come back here just to get a tray of scallops they were so good, they were soft and buttery and flavorful and then crispy on the outside. The duck I got with the pico was not spicy at all which was nice and it was actually more of a sweet/savory, delicious! And my husband's steak flavor I don't know how to describe, maybe smokey? Very mystic type flavor and the fries he got with I believe their house made ketchup was also very good. We did decide to try dessert! My husband got butterfly lemon cake of some sort and I ordered the mousse, it was very rich! We all probably could've shared it if we wanted because I ate only a little then took the rest to go. The wait staff was very attentive to us and made sure our waters were full and checked on us to see if we needed anything else, ect.

T
Tung Pham

The foods were delicious and mouthful. Be aware the full baby back ribs portion is huge so it might take a few men to finish. Great for sharing though. The portion of the Cesar's salad was small for sharing more than 2 people. View was nice and service was great! The worn chair cushions were kind of throwing me off but not such a big deal. Overall still earned a 5 stars for my experience.

Came to Loews for an impromptu staycation and ended up having the most memorable foodie experience at Flying V. We ordered the Green Chile Cornbread to start. It came with a beautiful chunk of honeycomb, a delectable jalapeño jam, and a yummy garlic butter pat. A smear of each was a different journey on your tastebuds. We really enjoyed both the honey and jam on it together. For our entrees we ordered the Scallops and Chile Relleno. Each dip of scallop or marbled potato in the buttermilk vinaigrette was perfect, the pistachio gremolata brought such a nice added texture. A perfect portion size as well. The Chile Relleno was unlike anything we’ve had before. Just looking at all it entails awakens curiosity . Crab, goat cheese, Meyer lemon atole, grapefruit fennel salad, and fate cognac essence. It was unbelievable how well everything worked to create such a delicious bite. The bitter sweetness of the grapefruit with the licorice flavor fennel was a combo I didn’t know I needed. Just an all around impressive creation. For dessert we ordered the Mexican Chocolate Mousse. This whole meal will stay as a core memory, but this dessert will live in my dreams eternally. The texture of the mousse was so smooth and had just the right amount of sweetness. The cinnamon masa crumble was delicious as well. The blood orange tamarind sauce should be bottled up so that I can have it at home. It definitely gave me a nostalgic memory of drinking a cup of Abuelita hot chocolate at my Nana’s house. Everyone on the crew there seemed genuinely happy. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you all!

The best guacamole I have ever had. It was very fresh and flavorful. The service here was amazing 👏 We went for dinner and it was dark, but we still enjoyed the water flow sound in the outside sitting area. Overall great place to hangout with your date. Romantic place!

The restaurant was updated and is beautiful! The food was Devine. We were there for my mother in law 65th and it beat expectations. Thank you Melissa and the rest of the staff for a rememberable night.

The ribeye blew me away and I came from Monterey California. The food overall in that part of Cali is of a higher quality however for the price you pay at the Flying V I would say they offer a better price to quality ratio. Very affordable restaurant if you're coming from Cali, New York, or any other bigger city where they tax you to death. This is also, one of the very few higher scale restaurants here in Tucson, no Michelin restaurants in this city, yet.

J
Junhua Chen

I ordered the lamb shank. So tender, the meat fell right off the bone. The flavor was great too. In addition to the great food and atmosphere, there was a guitarist playing in the background.

From the bougainvillea, cacti, and koi-filled pond in the foreground to the amazing Catalina Mountain vistas behind Loews Ventana, the Flying V restaurant offers an unparalleled setting for a romantic evening. We enjoyed an indulgent three-course dinner, and each selection was well-plated and nicely cooked. Service was generally good, and it would be nice if the fantastic live guitar music was available on the patio. The Flying V is our new go-to for any special-occasion meal!

K

The food was excellent! Our favorite was the special, which was the lamb shank with sweet potatoes mash and tortillas. The ribeye with crab bearnaise was very good though.

C

We had a lovely dinner the other night however two major things to be aware of. First, the wine list is grossly out of date. The vintages listed are not what are presented at table. Buyer beware. Second one of my dining companions ordered a full rack off ribs that came out super dry and over cooked. Now, I only dropped one star because the manager comped that meal and dessert for the trouble. The service staff and the rest of the meal was top notch. But, if a restaurant is charging resort prices they have to be on their A game especially with wine and with BBQ in the Southwest.

D

Really nice place with good ambience. Great for family or friends gathering. A few vegan options available...the tacos were good.

S
Shane Hansen

The food was great, but our service was not. Our server seemed new, or distracted, but took almost 20 minutes to even acknowledge us after we were seated. Then took another 10 minutes to come back to take our drink order. And then another 15 to bring our drinks. We were seated near the bar and could see they were keeping up. The server was a little more attentive later on but we felt for the price here, it should have been a little better. Again, maybe just a rough night for them. Overall great food, nice cocktails, and nice ambience.

N
Norman Allgood

The cornbread to start the meal was amazing and they even supplied you the recipe. What a nice touch. The steaks that we had were okay. They were served in a bowl which made it somewhat difficult to cut. The filet was a better choice than the New York strip. My wife found the New York strip a little tough. The service was exceptional but what really made the night was the mountain views and the sunset. It was simply breathtaking.

K
Kenna Stephenson

Incredible patio dining experience! Miranda took photos, explained menu well, and our orders were perfect. Enjoyed ceviche, Chile, and flourless chocolate cake!

Great atmosphere, good service, quality of food was good but a little pricey for what one gets.

L

A lovely restaurant with beautiful sunset views! Great service once seated. The lamb shank was absolutely outstanding - very similar to a well-made ossobuco. The duck was wildly overcooked and - to me - inedible - plus, it was scarcely even warm when it was served. I should have sent it back - but my husband switched plates and ate it. Also, if you have a reservation, would advise you not to arrive any earlier. We were five minutes early and had to stand in the (increasingly crowded) for nearly ten minutes (even as a larger party that arrived later than us - with a reservation at the same time - was seated!). An option to be seated but understand our server would not be immediately available would have been preferable.

Golf 911

We had the baby back ribs. They were excellent! The beans were OK and the coleslaw had no flavor. We had the jalapeño cornbread as a starter and it was very good. The service was excellent.

I had the Rib eye, my wife had the ribs. We both got the loaded potatoes. The potatoes are the bomb! We had a great meal! And the man playing the guitar was outstanding! Will go again.

Flying V Bar & Grill: Elevated Service, Stunning Views, and a Touch of Desert Charm What began as a quick stop for drinks before closing turned into one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in a while. Flying V Bar & Grill delivers on ambiance in a big way—the patio overlooks a serene desert landscape accented by a beautifully lit water fountain. It’s the kind of setting that invites you to slow down and take it all in. The bartender was welcoming and attentive, graciously seating us outside even as the evening wound down. Shortly after, we were greeted by Cole, our server, whose hospitality was exceptional. He was personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our visit special. His recommendations were spot-on, and he even introduced us to a local raccoon who occasionally visits the patio—wild, cautious, and surprisingly charming. We enjoyed a couple of expertly crafted cocktails, then decided to order scallops and crème brûlée to go after seeing and smelling them at a nearby table. Cole had everything packed quickly and professionally. Once home, the food didn’t disappoint—the scallops were perfectly seared, and the crème brûlée was rich, smooth, and indulgent. Flying V blends upscale dining with laid-back warmth, and the service—from bar to table—was seamless. We’ll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu. If you're looking for a place that pairs great food with unforgettable views and genuine hospitality, this one’s a standout.

I recently dined at Flying V Steakhouse and overall had a great experience, with a few highs that really stood out and a few areas that could use some improvement. First, the service was wonderful. The staff was incredibly friendly, and our server assistant was outstanding — always attentive, anticipating needs, and on top of everything without being intrusive. It really elevated the experience and made us feel well taken care of. The atmosphere, views, and overall vibe were absolutely perfect and made for a really enjoyable evening. For drinks, the lemon drop martini was hands down the best I’ve ever had — perfectly balanced, smooth, and simply amazing. Truly a standout. The steak (14 oz strip, medium) was cooked perfectly and was delicious, exactly what you hope for at a steakhouse. The ranch dressing on the wedge salad was also incredible — creamy, flavorful, and a highlight of the meal. That said, there were a few misses. The food was quite slow to come out — it took over an hour for the steak — which was disappointing. The mac and cheese was dry and lacking flavor, and the asparagus had a strange, unbalanced flavor that didn’t quite work. The Caesar dressing was also very oily and not particularly enjoyable. Overall, while not every dish hit the mark, the excellent service, perfectly cooked steak, amazing lemon drop martini, and beautiful atmosphere made it a memorable night. With a few tweaks to some sides and timing, this would easily be a top-tier experience.

Under construction outside, so no view as the windows were covered up. I wish that this would have been stated somewhere prior to traveling there. The reservation site should have a note regarding this. Food and service was fantastic. We went for our 30th anniversary, so this was disappointing.

K
Kuei-Da Liao

We started at the resort and came here for dinner. The atmosphere was really nice especially when there was a live performance of guitar. The service was also great. The food was pretty good slightly short to the great level— the paella was a bit too sour and on the watery side, personally thinking; some of the asparagus was bit crunchy.

Mike Shubic (Mike's Road Trip)

It’s been 13 years since I last dined at the Flying V Bar & Grill at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, and my recent return was both a nostalgic trip and a delightful rediscovery. The restaurant’s ambiance has only become more spectacular over time—walk through the elegant wooden doors and you’re greeted by a warm, Southwestern-inspired interior, with rustic wooden beams, earth-toned walls, and glowing pendant lights that create an inviting lodge-like feel. Just beyond lies the terraced deck, where you can sip your cocktails while gazing out over a serene lake, the well-manicured golf course, and the breathtaking Catalina Mountains and the Tucson city lights in the distance. It’s a magical setting that showcases the desert’s natural beauty in all its twilight glory. We began our evening with two signature cocktails: the PICANTE COWBOY and the CROWN JEWEL. The PICANTE COWBOY—featuring Maker’s Mark, Ancho Reyes Verde, ginger agave, lemon, and hellfire bitters—offered a bold, smoky flair underpinned by a subtle peppery kick. The ginger agave added a pleasant sweetness, balancing the tang of the lemon and spice from the bitters perfectly. Meanwhile, the CROWN JEWEL—mixed with Patron Reposado, pineapple turbinado, and orange bitters—delivered a tropical fruitiness that was neither saccharine nor overpowering. Both drinks were impeccably balanced and showcased thoughtful mixology, though at a premium price point. Sipping these alongside a basket of fresh artisan bread and a luxuriously whipped butter “concoction” felt like a quintessential Southwest indulgence. For dinner, we shared the GRILLED PRAWNS—a dish composed of leche de tigre, cucumber, serrano, coconut milk, cilantro, and confit squash. The flavors dazzled with their bright acidity, creamy coconut undertones, and fresh herbal notes. My only critique was the portion—three sizable prawns made it awkward to share, and we found ourselves playfully vying for the “odd one out.” Moving on to our main course, we opted for the CHILEAN SEABASS. Presented in a pool of walnut consommé with kabocha squash and a dusting of pistachio matcha, the fish was expertly cooked to a buttery, flaky finish, seasoned just enough to enhance without overwhelming its natural richness. Curiously, both dishes arrived with the same slice of undercooked squash. While flavorful in theory, the squash’s firm texture left parts of it inedible. It was a minor misstep but noticeable given the otherwise refined execution of the plates. Service throughout the evening was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable—servers appeared at just the right moments, kept our glasses filled, and were eager to answer any questions. The romantic atmosphere, panoramic views, and the warm glow from the interior’s rustic décor all contributed to a memorable night. Though portion sizes were on the modest side—particularly for the price—the overall experience of dining at the Flying V Bar & Grill remains elevated by the quality of the cuisine, the captivating setting, and the attentive service. After 13 years away, I’m delighted to report that Flying V continues to shine as one of Tucson’s most distinctive and enjoyable dining venues. JS ;-)

Really unique ingredients. The flavors were much more interesting and complex than I'd expected. I thought the caldo de queso would be a straightforward cream-based, potato cheese soup. I was way off. It was so much more than that. And the mushroom tamales were something else. They're almost fried. Total game changer.

Very nice place located at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort with great view of the water and part of the golf course. Very nice location, staff were very nice, welcoming & attentive. Connor my bartender had some great recommendations on both drinks & food. I tried a PICANTE COWBOY cocktail made with makers mark, ancho reyes verde, ginger agave, lemon, hellfire bitters The table side guacamole very fresh with multiple offerings of mixtures. I started with sweet corn bisque which was very very flavorful. For main course Connor recommended LAMB SHANK BIRRIA, which did not disappoint. this dish was delightful and large portion served with tortillas. I finished with a chocolate martini, which was tasty and great way to finish the meal.

We had great service here! We had the guac which was kind of plain tasting but an okay appetizer to start. I had the pan seared sea bass special as an entree. I enjoyed my dish but I’ve had better as well. There was live music and I would come back if I was staying in the area.

A
Andrew Waldson

Cornbread and guac were great starters for sure. Espresso martini was still a 2010 recipe...tasted like vodka and espresso only. No froth / cream. Special (poblano relleno) and burger was great. Only thing that grinded me was the menu said hand cut fries....well they must have been out because I got frozen fries right from a Sysco bag. Way undercooked the first time, fine the second time, but not hand cut by any means. Service was great and no issues there.

J
Juju Linder

Made reservations for dinner while staying at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. We got a table out on the patio overlooking the pond and the resort, which was beautiful. The service was incredibly friendly and relatively quick. However, the menu options and the dishes we ordered fell flat for us. I felt that the menu was trying too hard to be something this restaurant is not. Too many fancy, expensive dishes with weird taste combinations. I ended up ordering the Chile Relleno, which was a grilled green pepper stuffed with goat cheese and crab. I unfortunately couldn’t finish it, while my husband played it safe with the ribeye which was better. We had better dining experiences at the other restaurants at the resort.

J
Janet F

Food was quite mediocre with a high price tag. Ribs were dry and cauliflower was undercooked and unseasoned. Scallops were atop a bed of unseasoned black lentils, a strange choice that took away quite a bit of the refinement of the scallop itself. Pork belly was the best dish. Desserts were grocery store quality, and the cocktails were quite average resort style. Service was also a bit strange, with servers bringing plates and standing there awkwardly and waiting for us to clear dirty older plates to make space, instead of the server removing them from the table. The servers didn't seem to know much about the menu or wine choices either, which seemed odd for a higher end restaurant. All in all, for 100$ a person, I felt like the dining was not "fine" and was more akin to a Chilis quality. Was disappointed to see the flavors and quality take such a sharp turn from what it was years ago.

N
Nerissa Patrone

Service was great and the food was delicious, but the portions were very disappointing. I ordered from the prix fixed menu for Mother's Day. The smoked salmon was amazing and super flavorful, the lamb tenderloin as well, but there were literally 3 squash chips and probably a 1/4 cup of barley salad. I understand that protein is not cheap especially lamb but squash and barley costs a restaurant practically nothing even during these hard inflation times. Maybe as a local I made a mistake of coming to a restaurant at a resort where prices are highly inflated for tourists, but I have been here before a few times and don't recall the portions being so tiny for such high prices. Our bill for 2 people was $200 for very little food. Very disappointed.

T
Travis Beach

The Flying V Bar & Grill hosted a dinner for a business conference. The restaurant atmosphere is fantastic. The bar and wait staff were also great. The food not so much. The dinner salad was good but the portion size was small. I ordered chicken and risotto for dinner and it was bad. The chicken was incredibly dry and the risotto had no flavor. The dessert bar on the terrace was good but nothing special. Overall I recommend hosting a conference dinner elsewhere.

j
jophis

Prices matched the food quality and size. Servers were very polite and available. 2 tid bits i didn't care for. I asked for a view of the golf course and was seated in the furthest seat from the course with several visual obstructions. My bill wasn't the charged me too much in our sides and not enough in my beverage. All in all, not bad.

T
Tanner

The ambiance of this restaurant is sufficient to provide a satisfying dining experience. However, the quality and presentation of the food will leave guests disappointed. The french fries - served with a charred burger despite requesting medium rare, are unbelievable soggy. The beat salad was remarkably low effort, consisting merely of chopped beats, dressing, and honeycomb. Admittedly the guacamole with chips was delicious, but it was the only item off the menu which I would recommend.

I
Isaac Rodman

Feeling very gipped. Not sure how you can justify plating absolutely tiny portions of vegetables and starches with your meat. It's fairly customary to have probably three to four times what we were served today. The meat servings were as advertised, but we finished our dishes in minutes. It was delicious, but not nearly worth approximately $50 per dish just for the meat portion. I'm certainly not going to do this to myself again with a $200 check for almost no food.

We were staying in the canyon suite at the resort for a few nights and observed many high reviews for this restaurant. Staff is very cordial and friendly. We had an 8:15 reservation for dinner and when we arrived a few minutes early, our table was not ready. We stood at the bar and waited. Only one bartender who was extremely busy, so our wait to be noticed was considerably long, but once noticed he was very attentive and quick. We got a decent bottle of Decoy cab for $88, which can be purchased for $22 at a nearby store, so we were aware of the up-pricing. They could use another bartender to help as other customers were waiting while he tended to our needs. We were seated at 8:30 and noted that they had been seating walk-ins, which could account for our wait. Our table was a small table for two, which was fine for us, however, it was along a screen that separated the dining room and service area. Thus, it was a little distracting for our dinner conversation. Our server was pleasant, sweet, and attentive. Ordered the scallops special and duck leg. Scallops were very good and full of flavor. Duck, however, was very dry and lack-luster, with little taste, which is difficult for duck. Definitely have had more divine duck at other establishments. Creme brulee for dessert was very good. The scenic views from the restaurant are supposedly spectacular, but it was night so we didn't have that experience to balance out some of the disappointments. We do see the views from the resort and our room so we can safely assume the views are outstanding. For fine dining and value, our meal and experience was average to below-average. Definitely had much higher expectations, especially since we had reservations.

We (3 of us) just ate there last Sat the 1st. I had made my reservation thru Open Table months ago as we were there for a special family occurrence - however the table we were offered was the one nearly next to the hostess in the open area. We asked for a different table and were offered the next one inside - not a great placement but ok. That was disappointing,. The appetizers, including the fresh guacamole were terrific but the plates were never cleaned away - even when they brought our meals. We had to flag down a server and ask to have the appetizer plates be removed. We also had to flag down a server for more water. We so wanted to have a wonderful family experience, and while we enjoyed our evening, it really could have been better. I'll stay at the resort again because it was wonderful, but probably won't use the Flying V next time.

Great location, but there weren't enough staff so we had to keep walking up to the bar and ordering drinks and food. Other than that it was great though.

Thanksgiving dinner. Certainly a challenge to keep the Prie Fixe menu fresh all day. Salad and Dessert were outstanding. Main course of either turkey or lamb chop could have been better. The Guitar player was superb, the view incredible and atmosphere was great. Sadly, we expected better food for $95.00 a plate. We’ll skip next Thanksgiving.

This experience was a bid odd as we ate here on May 5th and the menu was still using their Fall Menu. At that it seemed to be thrown together. The salad was a winter salad with all small bits. Nothing that the fork could sink into and pickup. The appetizer we ordered was dripping off the board on to the table and the waiter even made a comment and didn't offer to wipe it up. By the end of the meal it was all over the table. We obviously survived but was just odd as this restaurant is supposably ranked as 'find dining'. The servers were very nice just a bit inexperienced. The steak was over cooked. We won't be coming back for a 'nice' dinner but maybe for more of a sports bar experience. The Guacamole looked amazing. Overall pretty disappointed for the rating that Tucson put this place at. Not fine dinning.

We had high hopes for this place, but it fell way short of our expectations. The service was terrible and the server was absent for 15-20 minutes at a time. Water was not refilled, we got our appetizers before our bar drinks came, the risotto was cold and lacking flavor and for $19 for a hamburger, the patty was unseasoned and unimaginative. Then, someone at our table ordered desserts and it took almost 15 minutes to get a pre-made dessert. No manager came to the table to address our displeasure about the service either and they had the nerve to slap on the 20% gratuity without telling us. Personally, I gave it two stars because of the atmosphere, but as far as the menu was concerned, it lacks creativity and vision for such a beautiful restaurant and for the outrageously priced menu options. Chef Harvey should take advantage of more of the local produce, agriculture and flora that Arizona provides instead of two slices of poblano pepper on a hamburger!!! I recommend staying here and getting a taxi to better options down the road with better food and cheaper prices like Wild Garlic Grill and Commoner &Co.

The chef is lazy/sloppy or took the night off and left the cooking and service up to the front of house. The filet was missing many basic elements and tasted like a frozen steak just slapped on the grill. It had very little flavor for a $45 steak. The table side guacamole is an identical story— just a concoction of the fresh ingredients but lacking any salt and tasted very amateurish for $20. The Short Rib tacos— boring. You’ll find better tacos for $2-3 at a quick-serve joint anywhere else, throw a dart on a map for a better taco place. I’ll give credit where it’s due by saying the drinks were great and the scallops, while not the best, had enough natural flavor that the lack of care put into them made the dish edible. Funny enough, the complimentary jalapeño cornbread was the show stopper and phenomenal. I’d recommend ONLY ordering drinks and eating the cornbread but dining elsewhere. Highly let down for the price/value here. If we had the correct experience as others then I find the reviewers here highly questionable. Some or none of them have ever experienced a high end meal before. That’s the only explanation for near 5* reviews of Flying V.

For the prices they charge and image they put forth, the service and food did not deliver. We were well treated throughout dinner. The three issues we had were 1) none of our dishes were cleared between courses and they built up in our table until we asked for then to be removed. 2) Do not order the lobster salad. You will be disappointed in the quality of flavors, lobster, and old/flavorless fennel used in it. 3) the guacamole cart they move around the dining room is bulky and disruptive to everyone drinking. It feels like a gimmick rather than a fresh service

Scallops- underdone Citrus Salad- red frilly lettuce was not cleaned properly and was gritty. Ribeye was very underdone. It had so much fat and gristle I took it home to take time to cut it all out. There was hardly any Bearnaise sauce on the plate. It was more like a smear. For the money we spent we were very disappointed and will not return

The service was good but the food was not. From the 'Caesars' salad to the entries the food way barely edible. The brocilini was barely even cooked. The 'Ceasars' salad, if you can even call it that, was odd tasting with soft/soggy crutons. The filet was as basic and bland as they come. The sweet potato puree was very basic and lacked flavor. My dinner date had the mushroom tamales which was dry, bland, and lacking mushrooms. For the final bill and total overall value we won't be heading back.

To echo others, the food here is nothing special. The waitstaff are extremely attentive, however we weren't aware there were specials until the end of our meal, when a different server mentioned them to another table. Also you apparently get free chips/salsa, which we didn't receive either. My $50 steak came out overcooked.....wasn't bad, but it was a $25 steak at best even if they did cook it properly. Ate outside on the patio, which was really nice. Unlikely we'll return unless the food drastically improves, which is a shame as the location/scenery is great. If people think the food here is great, they clearly haven't been anywhere even halfway decent.

The rib eye was thin, poor quality meat, for over 50.00 not worth it. They are not buying top grade beef.

Update: the restaurant manager reached out and refunded the birria. I really appreciate the service, the industry is tough but these are efforts allow for a little inconsistency that is always expected! Still thinking about my surprise experience last night. One of a few things we ordered was the lamb birria. When it arrived it was beyond tough, clearly not cooked right with no possibility of shredding. I tasted the meat and it was terrible, the server kindly took it back and replaced it. However, on the second go around it was still pretty tough and borderline inedible which she could tell by us barely touching the serving. I thought she'd pick up on that and I hesitated to share another negative remark. I hope you understand my SHOCK when that $42 dish remained on our bill. That is simply horrible service.

Came here for a Friday night dinner with a few friends. The restaurant is beautiful but the service was sub-par and the food hit-or-miss. For the prices, that was unacceptable. For example, we ordered the filet mignon, potatoes, beans, pozole, carne asada tacos, salmon belly, and corn bread. Of those, the steak, cornbread, and salmon belly were very good. The beans and potatoes were decent. And the pozole and carne asada tacos had NO seasoning to the point of being inedible. In the southwest? A carne asada or pozole without spices? And the waiter, who saw that we didn’t like those dishes because they were left mostly on the plate, didn’t check in to see if everything was ok. Nor did they check in with us when the food took 40 minutes to arrive. For the money, there are MANY better places in Tucson. Would not return here or recommend to others.

I recently visited Fly V Bar and Grill for my husband's birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. There were a lot of bugs around, and I even got a bee bite during our meal. To make matters worse, the utensils weren't clean and looked quite unappealing, which set the tone for the rest of the night. The food itself was not of good quality and lacked flavor, leaving us very dissatisfied. The only redeeming factors were the beautiful view and the friendly waitstaff. However, everything else about this visit really ruined what was meant to be a special evening.

Beautiful setting and views, but food was way overpriced and nothing special. Expensive mushroom tamales come with no sides and hardly any mushrooms-mostly cornmeal. We won’t be back.

Service was great. Salmon was left thawing too long and had an overwhelming fishy taste. The risotto was sticky and undercooked only having stinky fish as the flavor. We also ordered the ribs and the bbq sauce and beans were one note. The alcohol wasn’t cooked off correctly or there was a heaping amount of liquid smoke. Either way it tasted like the bottom of a whisky barrel poured into an old boot. Also the ribs had no caramelization. We were polite had them box it up (for the dog) and had a good laugh about it all the way home. We went at sunset, the view was pretty great.
