Amazing seafood and service. Atmosphere is wonderful
Red clam chowder for lunch to go. They have these CROUTONS that you sprinkle on top ( these CROUTONS are 1 of a kind ) delicious! Also the fresh bread loaf with real butter 🧈. We will probably have lunch from here weekly it was so good. So delish on a rainy day. The fresh bread 🍞 is the best I've ever tasted ( I leave it double paper bagged overnight/. And the next day it has the perfect crunch with butter. Best bread ever!!!!!!!!
Always enjoy coming to this location and the wonderful service, not to mention delicious seafood. The coleslaw is not too liquidy and I couldn’t wait to try before taking the picture 😄 also, the fish or seafood is cooked over mesquite wood briquettes. When I am wanting scallops, this is my go to place. But you have to try their clam chowder too. Worth the drive from the Menifee area or Riverside area. Have been a loyal customer for nearly 30 years and will keep visiting 😎 Oh and be prepared that the food is served on disposable plates as it helps to make cleanup faster.
If you want a classic Orange County seafood experience, go to the Crab Cooker. Their food is delicious. I love their scallops on a skewer. They are perfectly cooked and spaced with bacon, and their romano potatoes are perfection. The Crab Cooker has been in business for more than 60 years and there's a reason why.
Crab Cooker in Tustin is awesome! I had the Halibut (fish of the day) and a bowl of clam chowder, and both were seriously delicious. The Halibut was super fresh and cooked just right, and the chowder was rich and full of flavor without being too heavy. The vibe is laid-back, and the service is friendly but not over the top. If you're in the mood for some solid seafood, this is definitely the place to go. Simple, fresh, and hits the spot!
I've been dining at the original Newport Beach Crab Cooker since I was a little girl, often requesting the family eat there for my birthday or other special occasions. It's SO nice, despite increased prices, to count on the same delicious quality and good-sized portions of beautiful seafood and sides after 50+ years. I drove over 100 miles to see my family and knew I could count on my early dinner being wonderful if I ate at either Crab Cooker location. 🦀 👍🏼💖🦐
Don't usually get to the Tustin Crab 🦀 Cooker, but we did tonight. The ambiance is more like the Newport Beach location than the last time I was there, so I found being there a better experience. The food is always top shelf and I enjoy the relaxed dining conditions. I will try to get there more often. Enjoyable meal 🌺
Always a favorite place to go for a good fish dinner. They cook everything over charcoal and it is SO good! Completely unpretentious, served on paper plates, and no fancy sides or sauces—just really good quality seafood. If they’re in season, get the oysters. I can also highly recommend the crab cakes and salmon plate. My husband pretty much exclusively orders the halibut or swordfish plate, which is also excellent if you like a meaty “steak” of a fish. Oh and of course the clam chowder and smoked albacore are kind of a must! We never leave here hungry 😋
It’s a must if you love crab! Limited menu but that’s so they focus on what counts. Some complaints about paper plates and plastic forks but their focus is on the food. Food: soft shell crab was a good starter as was the clam chowder (keep in mind that it’s not your typical white clam chowder; this one is better!) Alaskan king crab legs are huge. 1.5 legs gives you enough crab meat along with 2 sides, which were excellent. It’s cracked perfectly so no fuss. Drinks: Nothing fancy but good selection of beers available (including Stella). You can tell where their focus is. Service: Excellent. Checked-on often and food arrived fairly quickly.
This was a place that was not my intention to stop at but was going to the 17th street grill. I saw the crab cooker across the parking lot and decided to try seafood. This was such a great decision to advert to here. Reading the menu and saw this was a simplistic kind of place but everything sounded good. I decided to go for the crab cakes for the appetizer and ask if they had any flavored type of dipping sauce and she told me no just tartar sauce and it did not need any type of sauce because it was so delicious. I ordered the grilled salmon, romano melted mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. I was hesitant on the salmon because of being cooked right over mesquite coals and did not want dried salmon and she assured me it would be moist and a great flavor. Oh boy, the salmon was perfectly cooked with moist flakes that fell apart. It had a buttery mesquite taste that left your taste buds stund and wanting more, even with no type of sauce, just fish. The chessey mashed potatoes was really good and the coleslaw was freshly made and tasted really crisp and delicious. If I am ever back in the area of Newport Beach, CA, I will stop in and try something else.
Good, friendly service. Very casual. You are served with all disposable plates and utensils. Must buy a loaf of bread with dinner if you want bread. Only 4 options to pick 2 sides with your main course...rice, potatoes, coleslaw, or sliced tomatoes. Wish there were more options...I don't care for tomatoes nor coleslaw, so that only left me with two starches to choose, so I ordered a side to give hubby. Main courses were delicious! I had Halibut, hubby had deep-fried soft shell crab. A little high priced for what you get, but not too bad. Small counter to order fresh and smoked fish. Bought some smoked Albacore to go.
I'm not sure what it was but I left feeling not quite satisfied.. The service was fine, the server was friendly, the food was ok/good but not spectacular and the portions were decent. I had the clam chowder, which was the best dish on the menu and the calamari was good too. I don't recommend the shrimp cocktail. I would recommend this place mostly for their availability when other places have a 1-2 hr wait. Would I eat here again? Yes.
Really good place to eat... not flashy at all (paper plates and plastic forks) but $42 for that lobster they serve on those plates. Decent food average service. Food cooked in an open kitchen. Their chowder is really good. I feel with them cooking over charcoal that the fish filets come out more over cooked than they should be. However, the shrimp and lobster tasted really good!!
I was disappointed with my food order. At nearly 30 bucks, I hoped my crab cakes would have tastes better. Didn't look like it had been breaded or anything. Seemed over-cooked. Maybe I should have ordered the swordfish or something. The free bread I get from other restaurants seemed to be better than the bread you have to pay for here. Not sure if I tasted much clams in their "world famous" clam chowder. Cole slaw was pretty bland.
Disappointed, even at $120 for king crab legs because my mother wanted some and I was back in town visiting, the red chowder was just not edible, and for a place called the Crab Cooker.... Cmon not like it used to be.... Nice waitress...
