Benjies is a popular Jewish-style deli known for its generous portions and delicious food. Customers rave about the pastrami sandwiches, matzo ball soup, and friendly service, especially from staff like Stacey. The ambience is nostalgic and reminiscent of the 90s.
Tip: If you're craving a pastrami or corn beef sandwich, plan a trip to Benjies. If the parking lot looks crowded, there's usually space in the bar.

11/17/2025 Stopped in here to have a bite with a friend. Nice dim lighting creates a great ambiance. We were seated relatively quickly. Open seating in this occasion. Alejandro was very attentive to us. Not a long wait for our orders to be taken. They have an exquisite Salmon Salad. Dining area is very clean and organized. Either in-use or prepped for next customer use. Facilities clean and well maintained. Will surely return many times! Definitely a 5-star rating! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you Tutto Fresco! Thank you Stephen White! - Michael Montoya
House bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was good. My daughter liked her spaghetti with meatball. Meatball was a bit grainy for my liking, but my daughter still ate it, so no problem with that. I truly enjoyed the berry salad with pecans. That's the highlight of our restaurant visit.
Its order first, then find a seat, just a heads up. But, man, this place was the bomb. The food was really, really good. Fast and delicious. Service was fantastic. I had the lamb, and my wife had the picata. Overall, it was superb. My only issue was that they ran out of cheesecake, but that means it's really good, so order it with your meal.
It's been at least 3 years since I've died here, and the food didn't disappoint. Normally, I think restaurant ravioli is "no value" for what they give you, but my mind was changed when I had the lobster ravioli. Tasty, and PLENTY filling - definitely value for the money. And...in 2025 where a sandwich alone could cost you over $20.00, I was pleasantly surprised that most entrees came in UNDER $20.00. The food came out in 20 minutes, which is not bad, and it was relatively crowded ( Friday, 7:00pm). Definitely looking forward to making more frequent dining stops here in the future.
Always love coming here. Food is very fresh and the service is great. Even give you Andes chocolate mints after.
I used to work in Orange and never realized how much I was missing by never coming to this restaurant. At first glance, the very idea of a drive thru Italian restaurant that didn’t display a “hut” or “domino” seemed low-key suspicious to me. However, I was deeply mistaken. Tutto Fresco is ridiculously amazing. The food is SO GOOD. They offer a decent-sized menu with options that range from cheese pizza to decadent truffle pasta dishes. If you’re looking for a frugal lunch, you’d probably be better off hitting the closest Pizza Hut. But if you’re like me and don’t mind paying for quality food, then I assure you that you do get what you pay for at this establishment. Once seated, guests are greeted with warm bread + olive oil and balsamic vinegar. YUM! Pastas we’ve tried have been amazing!Their seafood fare is nice and always arrive perfectly cooked. The best part? Their customer service at this location is as impressive as the food they serve. The wait staff and management are attentive and friendly. Def adding this place to our go- to list. If you don’t like it here, then you probably don’t like eating delicious food. Just saying. 🤷🏻♀️
02.14.24 Really good restaurant for eating alone or as a group. Food selections are awesome. The attendants at the counter where food is ordered are pretty good and attentive. Once food is ordered, attendant gives a number stand to customer to take at the table. Table service is pretty good, too. All around attentive staff, pretty quick, and all are very nice to customers. I had chicken piccata and it was perfectly seasoned with the right balance of lemon and capers. Salad that came with my order was very good too. I can't forget to mention the fresh bread. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip for the bread is an all time favorite. Good parking spaces for customers. I believe they have take out service, too. All around one of the best places for Italian restaurant.
Happy 2023! Delicious food & friendly atmosphere! Bring the family something for everyone an it won’t break the bank! We had gotten the Salmon Pesto dinner &. Chicken Parmigiana, fancy presentation @ a fair price, unlike the big chain restaurants that have no flavor & poor customer service…
Gordon ramsay would be shocked they have a drive thru!!! The food is devine, each and every dish is hand crafted.we are never disappointed the many visits here! This is a great place! The ambient atmosphere is a plus!
Terrific Italian restaurant with great food, ambience, and service. Very reasonably priced. Authentic and fresh with fast preparation, wonder how they do it to have even a drive through for the full menu. Humongous portions in entrees that you probably would need to box out. The starter bread is fresh and soft, a delight with the olive oil and balsamic. The chicken parmigiana with the pasta and marinara was a blast, the caesar side was fresh and the parmesan was of a very high quality. The pesto panini equally good. The restaurant has a unique American Italian ambience, has earthy tones inside and outside, has outdoor seating, is not located in an upscale restaurant row and is opposite a philly cheese steak sandwich shop in a strip mall which has other things like ammo, across the street are in-n-out and chick-filet, its in its own building though, parking seemed enough. The ordering is walk up or sit down, large screens behind the counter have food prep videos which are very appetizing. Friendly and caring servers. First time here, will go back for sure for dine in or drive through.
Friday nights at Tutto Fresco have been our tradition for the past four years, and it never disappoints. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a busy week. The food is always delicious, the restaurant is consistently clean, and the atmosphere is warm and family-friendly. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!
Good was worth the wait. We came during rush time so the team was definitely swamped with orders. I didn’t really get to see much of the inside besides the waiting area so there was not much I could say about the dine in service but definitely have some things on the menu I would like to try next time.
I would never think of giving this sort of place 5 stars, but the quality of some of their plate for the price is crazy. Who would think and Italian restaurant with a drive thru will serve food that is actually beyond decent? Well, this is the prime example that it is possible. They have some plates that are meh, the pizzas could be much better and the price doesnt make much sense. However, their sandwiches are extremely good! The beef one, chicken pesto, and cheese are a must try. Please, dont be like me and start judging an Italian restaurant for having a drive-thru - this place is great!
We started off with the house bread served alongside olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and it was really tasty 🥖✨ Simple, fresh, and a perfect way to begin the meal. My daughter ordered the spaghetti with a meatball, and she absolutely enjoyed it 🍝😊 She cleaned her plate without any complaints, which is always a good sign! Personally, I found the meatball to be a little grainy in texture — not exactly how I prefer it — but since she loved it and happily ate it, that’s what matters most ❤️👍 The real standout for me, though, was the berry salad with pecans 🥗🍓 It was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with a nice crunch from the nuts. That salad was honestly the highlight of our visit! Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience and left satisfied and happy 😊✨
I’ve driven by here many times and wondered what it was like. I finally had the chance to stop. It was fantastic. Great, kind service and corned beef piled so high I almost dislocated my jaw. 😁 I’ll be back! (I’m puzzled by some of the negative reviews.)
I had the pleasure of visiting Benjie’s tonight for the very first time and it’s everything I hoped and dreamed it would be. Such a warm, cozy restaurant. It feels like a big hug when you walk in! Service was phenomenal. We weren’t sure which meat or side we wanted with a particular dish—we were given such thorough and gracious help picking! Everything was piping hot, fresh, and delicious with VERY generous serving sizes. I’ve been craving matzo ball soup like this for almost 14 years. Absolutely phenomenal. We will definitely be back!
Epic & classic NY Deli vibes can be found at Benjie's, with pictures of New York City on the walls, plus amazingly delicious sandwiches & deli food served. The menu includes tasty breakfast, lunch & dinner choices, so anytime of day you're hungry, you can get something good to eat, here. We came in at lunch-time & split a Benjie's Special, With Corned Beef, instead of Pastrami. This comes with choice of Fries, or Potato Salad. We added a Side of Onion Rings, which were hot & super crispy. The golden brown rings came with a container Ranch Dressing, to dunk them in. Our sandwich was a Goliath, no other way to put it! Cradled lovingly between 2 flavorful slices of Rye bread, was Benjie's delicious Corned Beef, piled nearly to the sky. *(Slight exaggeration) smirk Our server was friendly, & attentive, taking our order, refilling my Iced Tea glass, & getting our check, plus To Go Box, without us having to ask. They sell all sorts of baked goodies here, as well as their quality cold cuts, in row of glass cases, up front. You may also buy one of the much talked about NY Black & White Cookies here, which are humungous. Benjie's interior walls were decorated festively, in a cute Halloween theme, when we visited, on 10/29/25. I love this place, which has been in business, for 68 years!
🍴 Benjies NY Deli — A Classic with Character I ❤️ Benjies NY Deli. The food — OMG, the food! I may be a little late to the game, only discovering Benjies about ten years ago, but it’s been a favorite ever since. Opened in 1967, this Santa Ana institution serves up authentic New York deli flavor with a side of nostalgia. You’ll find all the classics: bagels with lox and schmear (yes, that’s how you spell it!), traditional chicken soup — aka Jewish Penicillin — loaded with matzo balls, kreplach, noodles, rice, or all of the above (the beloved Mish Mosh). Their towering pastrami and corned beef sandwiches are piled so high you’ll need a strategy to take the first bite. Honestly, I can’t think of a single thing on the menu that disappoints. And the service? Picture a dining room full of sassy, quick-witted New York “aunties.” They’ll spoil you with prompt attention, keep you laughing with their one-liners, and make you feel right at home. Every visit is an experience. Sure, the 68-year-old building shows her age a bit around the edges — but that’s part of her charm. The retro booths, classic signage, and old-school ambiance make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Before you leave, don’t forget to browse the bakery case. Trust me, you’ll want to take home some rugelach, black-and-white cookies, or a slice of cheesecake — because there’s no way you’ll have room after your meal. If you’re just looking to relax with a cold beer and the game on, head to Avenue K Bar, tucked just off the main dining area. It’s the perfect spot to unwind. Bottom line: You owe it to yourself to check out Benjies NY Deli in Santa Ana. It’s authentic, delicious, and full of personality — a true SoCal treasure with New York soul!
Hey OC people! Based on trying Benji's vs the place on Kaetella, Benji's pastrami, corned beef, latkes, and homemade chicken soup are better quality here. When in OC and not feeling like making the trek to LA, I'll probably choose this place for the pastrami craving. My husband and I got the triple decker #5. My Mom got the pastrami, and Dad got liver and onions (it's pretty good if you are into liver). Lemon marscapone cake and blueberry cheesecake for dessert.
What a wonderful discovery! We first saw this on a YouTube video about the best pastrami joints in Orange County. We were not disappointed! The super friendly staff seemed happy to be here. The atmosphere was 60's diner - which makes sense since Benji's was established here in Santa Ana in 1967. I highly recommend the Ultimate Reuben sandwich. Superb.
First time trying their pastrami, and I’d say it’s better than Philippe’s in DTLA and The Hat. However, Ugly Drum Pastrami is still the gold standard for me. Since Ugly Drum at Smorgasburg is closed, I’ve been trying to find something comparable, and this comes close. I rate their pastrami below: Ugly Drum: 10/10 Benjies: 7.5/10 Philippe: 6/10 The Hat: 5/10 I do wish the chef cut the meat thicker—the slices of meat here were too thin for my taste—and it would be great if they included hot mustard sauce with the sandwich. I haven’t tried their other sandwiches yet, but the atmosphere is great, there’s plenty of seating, and a big parking lot. Definitely come back to tried other sandwiches
Stumbled upon this place while looking for a legit sandwich joint. I wasn’t sure how their claim of NY-style would hold up, but my partner, who was born and raised, loves visiting NY-style delicatessens, convinced me to give it a try. We shared the corned beef with coleslaw, a side of fries, matzo ball soup, and potato knishes. The ambiance was that of a real kosher style looking deli. The service was excellent, and they have a nearby bar called Ave 76 next door, which was very charming. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions are quite generous— the sandwich platter was enough for both of us. They don’t skimp on the meats; the matzo ball looked a bit dense but was surprisingly light, and the knish was flavorful. The gravy wasn’t bad either, and I ended up taking some home to make poutine with the fries!
Kept driving by this place and finally stopped in for lunch to try it. I’m so glad I did! I want to come back and try various items on the menu. This time around I had The Benjie, which is their signature pastrami sandwich. I’m drooling right now thinking about it. The pastrami was really good, but the star of the sandwich is the coleslaw dressing 🤤. Make sure to eat it all there because if you decide to take half with you like I did it will get soggy. Still delicious, but soggy. The server suggest the potato salad as my side and I’m so grateful 😄👌🏽. Old style deli vibes with friendly service. My server was amazing. Can’t wait to come back.
We wanted a pastrami sandwich and wanted to try somewhere new. We googled it and came up with Benjies NY Deli. We were so glad we went there. My husband got the pastrami sandwich on a French roll with Swiss cheese and fries. Excellent! The meat was stacked high and the flavor was delicious. Definitely reminded us of the sandwiches in NY. I had the French dip with fries. Again, excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a traditional pastrami sandwich. PS. We got the carrot cake and chocolate cake to-go and yes, worth the money.
So delicious, and the customer service is fantastic!!!!! If you're a fan of Jewish Deli food, you will not be disappointed!!!! The sandwiches are fantastic. We had pastrami on rye and corned beef on rye! YUMMY! The matzo ball soup was delicious! The chicken in the soup is super fresh and yummy!!!!!!! Oh, and the cole slaw is fabulous!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tutto Fresco: Fresh Italian and I must say, it was a delightful experience from beginning to end. The restaurant boasts a wonderful and peaceful atmosphere both inside and outside, creating a relaxed and inviting ambiance. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the cashier team. The cashier was kind and helpful, patiently guiding me through the menu as a first-time visitor. Once we were seated, the wait staff promptly provided us with sauce plates and, within minutes, served warm bread and olive oil, which tasted absolutely great. It's worth noting that the olive oil had a strong flavor, so it's best to be mindful of how much you dip your bread. Our starter plate and salad arrived in less than five minutes, and they looked absolutely fabulous. The Caesar salad, made with romaine, croutons, parmesan, and Caesar dressing, was delicious, although the croutons were slightly dry. The bruschetta, prepared with tomatoes, red onions, garlic, basil, olive oil, and oregano, was a delightful combination of flavors on pre-cut toasted bread. For the main course, my wife opted for the spinach ravioli with an add-on of gunuchi. The cheese-stuffed spinach ravioli, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and lemon pepper cream sauce created a creamy dish with a soft texture and a hint of zestiness and tanginess. It was a flavorful choice. The baby lamb chops, accompanied by macadamia nut pesto, rosemary mustard sauce, and rosemary potatoes, initially had a slightly off taste due to the sauce. However, as I let it rest in my mouth, the flavors began to meld together, creating a more enjoyable experience. The rosemary potatoes were moist and well-seasoned, and the lamb chops were incredibly tender, requiring no assistance from the provided steak knife. To finish off the meal, we indulged in the Chocolate Lover's Cake, which featured chocolate fudge icing and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. The cake itself was as expected, rich and chocolatey. However, the raspberry drizzle around the plate elevated the dessert to a whole new level. I would suggest having the raspberry drizzle directly on the cake instead of on the plate for a more seamless experience. Overall, my dining experience at Tutto Fresco: Fresh Italian was delightful, and I would certainly return when in the area. The combination of the wonderful atmosphere, warm customer service, and flavorful dishes made for a memorable visit.
Very enjoyable place to catch late lunch. Lazanha was perfectly baked and mini carrots cupcakes were divine. Too bad they last just 2 small bites.
I love the two Tutto Frescos. The food is way better than most Italian restaurants. You can get a high quality meal for reasonable prices. This visit however, the 3 lamb chops were cooked 3 different temperatures. And the table service was basically a drop your food off only. In the past, they've come back to check on you, offered fresh grated cheese on whatever, and taken plates. Neither happened on this slow Monday night. Disappointing. But I will go back as the MANY times I've been before, it's been better.
The search for a real New York deli lead us here, and Benji's didn't disappoint. We had the whitefish on bagel, the Benji's special (pastrami with cole slaw and Russian dressing) and some potatoes pancakes. The whitefish and pastrami were on point and potato pancakes were good. We'll be back to try more items. The restaurant felt like a proper classic diner, which we loved. The attacked little dark bar was a surprise but we loved that too.
Matzoh ball soup did not taste homemade. Matzoh ball was very bland. I was always raised for a little pepper in the matzoh ball to give us some flavor.. chicken cubes were kind of chewy. \n\nChhoti…
It is a great European deli food , if they had a real Bartender their bar would be much better . It is a cozy and cool place to be but they need a real bar tender not a waiter making drinks ..
Sauces, bread and veggies were good. Chicken parmesan and the blackened chicken were both very dry and over cooked. Service started good...then our server disappeared for about 20 minutes. She reappeared with our overcooked chicken that seemed to have sat under a heat lamp and dried out. Maybe an off day for her or thecooks. I have had much better food and Service here in the past.
We thought we would give Benji's a try when my mom was visiting. We have been in the past and enjoyed it. It was sadly disappointing. The prices were really crazy high! I got a starter of chopped liver. It was two small scoops with a piece of onion and two slices of bread for $15. It tasted nice, but wow! My mom's brisket was SO dry. It looked like it had been sitting all day. She couldn't even soak it in gravy and chew it. The fried chicken was tasty, but dry like leather. They were kind enough to give my mom a half sandwich, which was very nice of them. The sandwiches looked delicious, which is why I gave it two stars. But when does a sandwich cost $25? Oh, and if you want pickles, that's $1.50. I have never been charged for pickles in a deli in my life! One server was generally nice, but she made us feel like we were bothering her. Maybe we were? Idk, but we couldn't wait to leave. We won't be going back unless they make some major changes. $1.50 for pickles??

I recently visited Tito Fresco Restaurant and decided to order three chicken sandwiches through the drive-thru. My total was about $52. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Upon arriving home, I discovered that the restaurant had given me three burned chicken parmigiana sandwiches along with burned sweet potato fries. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed with my order. First and foremost, the burned chicken parmigiana sandwiches were a major letdown. The chicken was overcooked to the point of being charred, resulting in a dry and unpleasant texture. The burnt flavor overpowered any other seasonings or toppings, making it difficult to enjoy the sandwich. The quality of the bread and cheese was also compromised by the charring. To make matters worse, the sweet potato fries were also burned as you can see in the pictures. Sweet potato fries are typically known for their delightful sweetness and crispy exterior. However, the ones I received were far from appetizing. The burnt taste was overwhelming, overshadowing any hint of sweetness. The fries were also noticeably dry and lacked the desired crispy texture. This not only affected the overall taste but also made them unpleasant to eat. What disappointed me the most about this experience was the fact that I only noticed the issue after returning home. I expected better quality control from Tito Fresco Restaurant, especially when it comes to their drive-thru orders. It was disheartening to realize that my meal was ruined due to the negligence of the staff. Despite this disappointing experience, I must acknowledge that Tito Fresco Restaurant has offered better meals in the past. However, the mishap with my order raises concerns about their consistency and attention to detail. As a customer, I value the quality of the food I receive, and this particular visit did not meet my expectations. I sincerely hope that Tito Fresco Restaurant takes this feedback constructively and improves their food preparation processes to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. A little more care and attention can go a long way in preserving the reputation of a restaurant. My experience at Tito Fresco Restaurant, specifically with the burned chicken parmigiana sandwiches and sweet potato fries, was highly disappointing. I regret having to write a negative review, but it is essential to provide honest feedback. I hope that the restaurant addresses these issues promptly to ensure a better dining experience for its patrons.
An italian restaurant with a drive-thru, and an atmosphere half fast-food, half restaurant. I had a chicken parmesan made with overcooked pasta, very dry chicken, hyper concentrated tomato sauce. After this dreadful dish, I tried the tiramisu. That was horrible too: what is supposed to be cream is a plain sugar tasting paste, and layers of dry sponge looking layers. The whole thing was a really bad experience.
