Super chill, family-style BBQ restaurant that had a classic country vibe. An older gentleman was playing guitar and singing the afternoon we were there. Merch was great and the food was better. Ribs, beans, and brisket were excellent! Pickles, onions, beans, and bread are served family style in the middle of the restaurant and the sweet tea was lovely. Anywhere I can self-serve pickles is a bonus for me! Almond slaw was delicious, and the cherry and peach cobblers were hot and had just the right sweetness.

One of the best places I’ve ever been to for a classic Texas BBQ. We stopped by here because we’re moving to another state soon and this will definitely make me miss it. The brisket was so tender, the ribs had a beautiful glaze, the sides were wonderful, and the blackberry cobbler was the perfect way to end it. Even the sweet tea was classic super sweet Texas sweet tea.

This just became one of my favorite BBQ places! Me and my fiancée were here on Saturday about an hour before they closed. We got half a pound of brisket and half a pound of ribs and a side of tater tot casserole, potato salad, banana pudding, and blackberry cobbler. All of the sides and desserts were absolutely delicious. All I can say about the meats is that they were a little dry but it’s okay because we did come an hour before they closed and it tasted better with the BBQ sauce. Overall, we will definitely be back!

Got a recommendation for this place and have to pass it on. We weren't even very hungry but the guy made it sound so good. Usually either the bbq place has good meats or good sides this place has both. Best turkey I have ever had. Tater tot casserole is one of the greatest sides I've ever eaten.

This was hands-down the best BBQ we had in Texas. The brisket was great, the baby back ribs were tender and well-seasoned. For sides, we had the butter beans, classic potato salad, and tater-tot casserole. All were good! Also tried the banana pudding, which had more of a mousse-like texture but was quite tasty (and very sweet). You order at the counter, service is very efficient, and you are left alone to enjoy your meats. Highly recommend!

WOW ... INCREDIBLE.. I could say more. The Austin area has so many wonderful barbecue spots. 10 years it took me to actually sit down and enjoy hot food. Stop here after visited the springs. Really fun place were there on a Tuesday so wasn't that busy. Food was really good. The jalapeño sausage is delicious. Tx atmosphere

Awesome smoked meats, brisket, sausage, ribs, a killer pork chop and turkey breast. Great sides and cobbler, be sure to try tater tot casserole and jalapeno creamed corn.

Opie's Barbecue is delicious Texas BBQ served up "family style" in Spicewood, Texas. Opie's offers brisket, ribs and sausage cooked in large barrel style pits. The brisket was moist and smoky, and the ribs were "falling-off-the-bone" tender, and sausage was also tasty. My only real complaint was the very high prices...over $35 a pound for the brisket....and everything is sold by the pound, so I ended up spending well over $30 for a three-meat sampler lunch. I did have leftovers, but it's still too pricy for BBQ imvso I also defintely liked the vinegary, peppery, not-too-sweet BBQ sauce. Note pinto beans and white bread are served free of charge to all customers. Minor complaint that the water that came out of the soda machine was very cloudy, needs filtering.

They were out of brisket, sausage and several other items. Definitely will not stop here to eat again. The ribs were above average.

Well… This place was NOT on my radar until an Aggie recommended it to me during the recent Longhorns vs Aggies game. I’m a UT alumnus and avid Longhorns fan so perhaps the Aggie was just misleading me after the recent win at DKR Stadium on Friday. Drove to Opie’s today from Austin and was very underwhelmed. Dry and flavorless moist brisket with no bark, no bite and overly smoky. Ribs also dry and flavorless despite being billed as sweet and spicy. Bought jalapeño cheese sausage and chicken too but have not unwrapped it to eat yet. I was too disappointed with the other two meats to care about trying the other two. Next time I’ll either just go to Franklin’s BBQ, Leroy & Lewis or any of the other BBQ places in Lockhart like Black’s or Smitty’s. Sorry Opie’s but you’ve got some work to do.

A no frills BBQ place on the route to Austin (71) The BBQ is ok. Not great. Prices are fine. At 4pm on a Saturday (November) the place was almost empty. I had a brisket and a side of Mac n cheese. Again, nothing to write home about. Maybe it was the time... Middle of the afternoon, but the meat was slightly dry.

The most bland, mediocre barbecue I've had in my entire life. The staff was friendly, the furniture was nice, their merchandise game was A+, but what does it matter when your food is $20+ per person and has no taste at all? If anything, Google reviewers are being way too generous .... I'm willing to bet if I had a smoker, I could ChatGPT "how to make brisket" and make it better than this on the 1st or 2nd try --- not even exaggerating. And pretty much everything my wife and I tried there was bland at best and outright bad in some cases. It honestly feels like they spent 10 times as much time on developing their merchandising than they have on their BBQ game. So if you want a nice hat or shirt of the world's most mediocre BBQ, then this is the place to go.

I have eaten here several times and it has always been good. This last time it was not. I just got a chopped beef sandwich with some sides to go. Love the cole slaw with almonds and cranberries. But there was something wrong with the beef. It had a metallic aftertaste. It also had too much smokie seasoning . It really was not good .
