Opinions de Kedai Upland
Really enjoyed my time here. I stopped in and tried their hot latte and the chicken skewers with rice, and everything was really good. The food tasted fresh and the latte was smooth and comforting. The atmosphere is great too. It’s a nice place to get some work done because it’s not too loud, but there’s still a good amount of people so it has a nice vibe. There are plenty of tables and lots of parking, which makes it really convenient. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the relaxing music made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back.
This is a nice find for Indonesian food in Upland. I just tried their ox tail soup. Also orders the Sumatra coffee. Both were delicious and fantastic. Ox tail soup is just as you would like when mom made it for you. Vegetables and tomatoes sliced in were not overcooked and brings good texture to the soup. I will certainly try other dishes next time. On second visit I had their americano coffee. Since this place is a cafe the espresso based coffee are quite nice too. I came during off hours so this place might get crowded during peak hours. Parking at the strip mall looks adequate.
One of the most delicious dining options in Upland! If you're craving a meal that will keep you coming back, this is the place to visit. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. My favorites are the almond pastry paired with an iced mocha coffee made with coconut milk. Their prices are very reasonable compared to other spots. I highly recommend this place :)
Food is absolutely amazing, we had the rice porridge, nasi goreng, and noodle soup and all were great. Even better were the pastries and prepared snacks. Highly recommend coming here, it’s worth the drive. Our only complaint would be there was a bit of unnecessary waste. Shrimp chips that came with the entree were served in a mini ziplock bag, for example, which is unnecessary.
Good place to go to if you want to have Indonesian food or really good soup. I had the oxtail soup, which comes with oat crackers and a bowl of rice. It had a flavor close to a combination of tomato soup and a rich beef soup. There is also another soup called soto betawi that I usually get. It uses coconut cream to get a creamy consistency. Highly recommend it. One bowl of soup is more than enough for two people, but if you're still hungry, I suggest getting an order of one of their sweets like an ube pancake or fried banana.
I drove by this place a couple times and was excited that a new Indonesian place was opening up. It's a really nice and cozy cafe that serves old school pastries, the kind I would eat in my childhood. When I moved to the States, you can't really find those pastel, kroket, risoles, or lemper, not many restaurant sells them, or even makes them from scratch. So when I saw all these pastries, I went crazy and I knew this place would fill the missing parts of my immigrant life here. I would say this is one of the only place that would bring back all those nostalgic memories before moving to LA and I would drive 1 hour just to get that fresh, made from scratch pastries. I haven't found any other Indonesian cafe that would bring back all my happy childhood memories of hanging out with my friends at a cafe, eating pastels & risoles with chili and sambal (the real one, not that fake wannabe bullcrap from HuyFong). Oh and the coffee? Stop going to Starbucks that serves fake coffee using Indonesian island as their name, you're better off going to the real place that serves the real, authentic, imported Indonesian coffee for the same price. If you have a doubt about this, my last name is Indonesian as hell, I grew up there, and I approve this as one of the most ethnic & authentic cafe. **Fast forward to now, June 2024. Kedai is still very special to me. I just came back from Indonesia, had the pastries (pastels, risoles) back home but let's not fool around. Kedai's pastries still taste waaaay better. First of all, 1 pastel in Indonesia is now about $2.50. You Indonesians who think it's still cheaper to eat in Jakarta can suck on deez. Second of all, the pastels here are about twice the size, so you're already getting a good deal. Lastly, the pastries here (especially pastel) have more flavor than the ones in Indonesia. You can taste the difference in quality. You 90's Jakarta people surely know what Indonesian pastries are supposed to taste like. I'd rather get Kedai's pastries, and I'd be more than happy to pay $5 for the taste Kedai has to offer. Kedai's recipe is still the classic, the ones I grew up with, and will always be very special to me. In the pictures are pastel, risoles, choco banana roll, and Dutch roll, with ice americano and pandan latte.
Delicious food, great quality and value. Nice owners too. I highly recommend the chicken satay plate and if you can try one of each on all the other goodies then you should! The layer cake, honeycomb pandan cake, risole, dutch roll etc all worth it. Can't go wrong. 😁
We had the best experience. Missing my Indonesian food and came across this place in Upland. We had Turmeric Chicken (came with yellow rice, which is super delicious, sauteed tempe, lettuce, tomatoes, shrimp cracker) and a bowl of an Oxtail soup (came with white rice and cracker). It was delicious and finished the whole thing! They also have comfort Indonesian snacks, coffee and tea. We took home beef croquette, banana roll, coconut custard cake (kue lumpur) and honeycomb cake. The people are very friendly, helpful and the place is spotless! The owner (also the chef) actually came out to visit the tables and chit chat with everyone. She introduced herself and asked our names. She is so nice and makes us feel welcomed! If you are looking for Asian food other than Thai or Chinese, definitely should give this place a try and you wont be disappointed.
So flavorful and the plates are beautiful! I tried the vegetarian plate, gado-gado, and asinan. All were amazing!
Finally get a chance to stop by, have so many options in their menu. Alot of light snack and food to eat with some coffee. I got the sate komplit as lunch, and also got like half moon cake "pukis", risoles and pastel. Food was good. The sate komplit was good. However little bit more pricey, but its also come with a free drink. Service was nice and friendly as well. Its a small family owned restaurant. The reason i took one star away because they didnt give me any spoon or fork to eat my food. I bought food on my lunch time and went back to work and realize there was no cultery to use. So i have to walk to some ramen restaurant to ask for it. But i would definetly come back to try other stuff that they have
Absolutely an amazing cafe! Obsessed with the vibes inside. A absolute hidden gem in Upland, Ca. I barely found out about this place. Iced coffe is breathtaking. Desserts are way too delicious looking that i can’t wait to explore the whole menu. For anyone willing to try this place.Go NOW.
This place has wonderful owners, they are super kind and welcoming. It is hard to find good Indonesian food in this area, and they always nail it. The tempe is delicious, the meat is always marinated extremely well, and the sambal is definitely a 10/10, I always ask for extra. I always get either the chicken satay plate or the ayam goreng (turmeric fried chicken plate) and I would definitely return. They also do catering for parties and the food is super delicious and a great price for the portion. Everything is super delicious!
All I have to say is WOW , very nice dining experience. The owners are super friendly and accommodating. It was my first time having Indonesian food and definitely come back with my family. I Had the chicken satay plate. The homemade spicy sauce was a hit. Much better alternative to the chain type spot. Thanks again.
I really enjoyed the Risoles. I am not very familiar with Indonesian food/ drinks so I didn't know what to expect. I just want to warn, if your someone like me who doesn't like boba/bubbles/jellies in your milk tea, your not gonna want the cendol. it's like some odd flavor gummies in there. the tea is good tho. I really appreciated their customer service as well.
🇮🇩 INDONESIA (via Eat the World Los Angeles) - The sweet couple that operate the business will be happy to welcome you into their new store, which has plenty of room for people to slowly (or quickly) enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee and some of their treats. Come in the first hour of business and you will see the savory pastries arrive from the kitchen and be able to enjoy them as fresh as possible.
Food is awesome! Makes you feel like you’re back on the beach in Indo after a long surf sesh! Nasi Goreng is delicious. Ox tail soup hit the spot.

Very good authentic Indonesian food. Nice people. Also took lemper, risolles and more home. Delicious.
This is some of the best food I have ever enjoyed. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and very clean. The owners will make recommendations if you ask them (if you are new to Indonesian food like I was). We had coffee, chicken satay plate, croquet and fried plantains. Like I said, truly some of the best food I have ever eaten, anywhere. Everything is made fresh and using very fresh ingredients. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say. We plan on eating here again very soon. If you're in the Upland area I strongly recommend this restaurant.
This restaurant is a hidden gem in the city. Once in a while You find a restaurant that’s very special . I highly recommend the Gato Gato or Satay. I find myself often recommending this restaurant to other people Because the food is so delicious. It is especially fun if you go with a group of people as it’s an experience when everybody tries a different dish. I usually don’t get dessert, but here I do because the spekkoek is amazing!!!

Note: I did not have a lot of experience with Indonesian food and can't tell how authentic it is. The chicken satay is really good (tasted like teriyaki chicken), the beef dish is a little dry thou. Overall, I would say it's on the pricy side. ($17.50 per dish)
Very nice small little cafe! The rendang comes with vegetables, tofu and tempeh, and your choice between coconut or yellow turmeric rice. Pretty good portion and prices!

The food was fire, but don’t get the oxtail. I recommend the honeycomb dessert. Perfect for old folks that like sweets that don’t taste like straight sugar. Also highly recommend the empanadas and the veggie dish. The tofu side dish is probably the best tofu dish I’ve ever had. Won’t let you down
