Last night’s dinner was nothing short of spectacular—easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in San Francisco in a long time. This new restaurant is already setting the bar incredibly high. Every dish we ordered was phenomenal, from the silky bluefin tuna tartare and vibrant heirloom tomato salad to pasta so good it made me wish I had three stomachs. The pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the duck breast was cooked flawlessly—rich, tender, and bursting with flavor. The wine list was thoughtful and exciting, and the selections by the glass were spot-on. The sommelier staff provided exceptional service, pairing wines beautifully with each course. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the desserts arrived—absolutely irresistible, leaving us already planning our return visit. This restaurant is a gem and truly one of the most exciting new additions to the San Francisco dining scene. Everything—from food to wine to service—was top notch. Highly recommend!

The team at Via Aurelia made everything about our visit feel really special. The dining room is spacious but full of gorgeous intentional details that, in hindsight, really set expectations for the rest of the meal. Our server Adam immediately made us feel welcome and gave us the direction we needed for food and beverages. I had several of the house cocktails and really appreciated how they complimented the flavors of the food so well, but here's what you need to know: the The Piccolo Pomodoro cocktail may be the best liquid that I've consumed in 2025. Everything we ordered was incredibly well-considered with amazing flavor and some very creative presentations, with the Sformato di Funghi, Pici All’aglione and Maiale being standout "must haves." My only criticism would be about the pacing of dishes coming out, as we ordered a lot and felt like we needed to clear space for things as they came out of the kitchen. That said, I'm already planning another visit and honestly can't wait!

October 2025: Read the review in the SF Chronicle and was excited to try this new place in the Mission Bay area. We didn't have reservations and we were seated at the bar. We had a nice corner area at the bar. Started with a few drinks. I ordered a West Coast IPA from Cellarmaker. Was a refreshing beverage. We started with the Sformato di funghi which is a chanterelle custard with a Brentwood sweet corn soup. Very beautiful presented dish. It tasted like a signature delicious fun soup. They gave us their bread as a complimentary item. Was served with a rich peppery spread and very fine olive 🫒 oil. We shared the scallops with a minestrone risotto. I liked this dish too. Looking forward to coming back again. Service was very friendly and attentive. All of the workers seemed to enjoy working there!

Wow what an amazing dining experience! The cocktails were fantastic. My favorite was the Bitter Giuseppe. The food was also outstanding. We also loved the little surprises from the kitchen! Highly recommend the green garlic custard. We really enjoyed having the option to order a la carte. Additionally the service was excellent. We walked in without a reservation & were seated faster than our quoted time. I can’t wait to dine here again!

We had the privilege of being the first to try the new tasting menu, and honestly, it blew us away. Every single dish was incredible, thoughtful, balanced, and full of flavor. We’ve eaten at a few Michelin-star spots before, and this easily holds its own. The service was just as impressive. Huge thanks to Chef David Nayfeld and the team for such an unforgettable night. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Got the 5 course meal, every dish was amazing so many flavors. George was the best bartender. He made great espresso martinis, dirty martinis, and Via Aurelia martini. Best tasting menu I’ve had in awhile try it!!

Via Aurelia is well worth a visit, with impeccable service, elegant décor, and beautifully executed food. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. The host opened the door for us, the bartender anticipated and presented my cocktail before I ordered, and our server Omar guided us with knowledge and care. We especially enjoyed the panzanella salad with its ripe tomatoes, the rich tuna tartare topped with trout roe, and the vibrant insalata verdura. The black cod was delicate and beautifully plated, while the 30-ounce Wagyu steak (presented whole before slicing) was indulgent and memorable. The sommelier recommended two excellent wines that paired perfectly with our meal. This is a restaurant that delivers both refinement and warmth, and one we’ll be eager to return to.

I had dinner at Via Aurelia and was blown away from start to finish. The space itself is gorgeous — elegant but comfortable — with an atmosphere that makes you want to stay all night. I started with the Panzanella, which was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. The Pappardelle con Sugo di Cinghiale was rich and comforting — the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. The Anatra (duck) was beautifully cooked and paired with flavors that felt both familiar and new. I finished with the Affogato, which was the perfect ending — simple, sweet, and done right. I don’t drink, but the non-alcoholic drinks were fantastic — complex, refreshing, and clearly made with care. And judging by how carefully the staff talked about it, the wine list looked phenomenal too. Service was top-notch — warm, knowledgeable, and genuine. You can tell everyone here loves what they do. Via Aurelia is easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in San Francisco. I can’t wait to come back.

Our first visit to the new Via Aurelia was amazing! We sat at the bar just inside the entrance to enjoy all the activities. We were thrilled with the ambiance, the creative menu and the service. The staff was attentive with excellent recommendations based on our preferences. We wanted to try a selection from each category. Our first course was the Tuna Tartare for the Antipasti. The flavor and texture was excellent. We also tried the Tagliatelle Verde Ragu with Liberty Duck. This was delicious! I have to say my favorite was the Seared Maine Diver Scallops. Very sweet and perfectly prepared. We also took their Carne recommendation to experience the Maiale. It was crispy pork belly with pork cheeks. Full of flavor! Very succulent, decadent, and delicious. The service was wonderful. We ordered our version of a tasting menu to share everything. The mixologists were making some very special drinks right in front of us. The food was brought out timely, as we had requested each item to come out right after each other. I would highly recommend this new addition to Mission Rock. It is perfect for special occasions or a quick stop after work.

Best dining experience I’ve had in a while! The highlight for me was the cocktails! Some of the best in the city hands down! And if you ask, they are actually meant to be paired with certain dishes. It’s rare to have cocktails that actually pair well with dishes, but they nailed it! And the food is next level!!!

K
Kyle Christy

Truly exceptional across the board. The service is next level, I feel like royalty here, but at the same time the staff is super nice and friendly and easy to talk to. The cocktails were unique and tasty. I’ve never ordered duck but panic ordered duck ragu pasta and it was delicious. Couldn’t have eaten it faster. Highly recommend.

Walking into Via Aurelia honestly took my breath away. The space feels like a work of art. The Florence inspired wall of rope is stunning & instantly sets the tone, while the curated decor tells a story that connects parts of Italy with modern San Francisco. The lighting is soft but dramatic in just the right way, pulling everything together so the room feels warm, stylish & complete. The service was something special. It was like watching a team perfectly in sync, almost like a symphony. Every dish arrived with perfect timing, wine was topped up without asking & the staff seemed to anticipate every need. Professional, knowledgeable & incredibly welcoming without ever being overbearing. Now to the food! EVERY single dish was beautiful to look at & even better to eat. The Tartara di Tonno was fresh & balanced, rich tuna belly with cucumber & sea lettuce in perfect harmony. The Sformato di Funghi was earthy & comforting with chanterelles, sweet corn & Parmigiano. The Tortellini di Formagio might have been my favorite, silky tomato sauce with creamy robbiola filling & that Parmigiano crisp for texture. The Pappardelle con Sugo di Cinghiale was incredible, wide pasta ribbons soaking up a rich wild boar ragù brightened by Pecorino Toscano. The Merluzzo Nero con Porri e Patate (black cod with leeks, potato & truffle sauce) was delicate, indulgent & memorable. The Maiale (pork belly & chop) was cooked to perfection, with crispy skin, juicy meat, apple, mustard seed & smoky guanciale tied together by a deep jus. I was lucky enough to get one of the first reservations & I can already tell this place is going to be one of the hardest tables to get in the city & rightfully so. Via Aurelia is not just another new restaurant, it’s a destination & absolutely destined to be a huge success.

Found this neighborhood gem in mission bay! The reservation was a bit tough (only 5:15pm or 9pm available), but I could quickly understand why. Great service and great food. I really recommend the tortellini with parmesan crisp on top, it is easily the best pasta in SF. Scallop was very yummy too. Make sure you check this place out!!

The food service and decor here is such a breath of fresh air for the San Francisco dining scene. The staff is warm, friendly and knowledgeable. I have been to many a SF restaurant in my travels here but Via Aurelia is punching above the market. I can’t wait to return on my next trip to San Fran!

Outstanding meal. The orzo lobster pasta was exceptional, as was the sformato de funghi veloute. We also really enjoyed the panzanella salad, pork belly (pork four ways) and cod. Started off with a little of a wait, but more than made up for it in service.

Via Aurelia is one of the best dining experiences I've had to date in San Francisco, and, I eat out a lot! The decor and ambiance are stunning --so warm, so cozy, and so beautifully executed. I have not experienced this level of service in quite some time. It's' unique to be able to say that every single person from host, wait staff, manager, and all service providers were exceptional in their service. So efficient, so professional, so well-timed, executed, and so well received. The people who work at Via Aurelia are as warm and lovely as the decor and as exceptional as the food! Now, on to the food, wow! An elevated experience that makes you feel like you're in a 5-star restaurant. It was very well executed, absolutely delicious with unique and unexpected ingredient combinations that will delight and surprise you! The more I tasted, the bigger the smile got on my face. Don't miss the bread service to start and the Almond Gelato to finish. From beginning to end the experience at Via Aurelia was exceptional, I highly recommend you try it. And...even their valet was exceptional. We have already booked our next dinner and will be a returning customer for life. Well done!

From the moment you walk in, this place just gets it. The food is genuinely excellent — full of flavor, clearly made with care, and the portions are perfect to share. It’s the kind of meal that leaves you satisfied, not questioning your life choices (which is rare these days). But what truly sets this restaurant apart is the service. Salvador and Isaías weren’t just great — they were on another level. Attentive without hovering, warm without being overfamiliar, and always one step ahead of what we needed. You can tell when someone actually enjoys taking care of guests, and that was absolutely the case here. The space itself is beautiful, comfortable, and inviting — perfect for actually enjoying your meal instead of rushing through it. Everything comes together effortlessly: great food, generous portions, an amazing atmosphere, and service that genuinely elevates the entire experience. This is the kind of place you remember — and the kind you recommend without hesitation.

Via Aurelia Wow…where does one begin when a place is this good. You know from the moment you enter and are warmly welcomed by the hostess that you’ve just found your new favorite spot in SF. My husband and I dined here last week and OMG did they nail it. The ambiance, the vibe, the wonderful staff..everything is perfect. The food is extraordinary. Perfectly sized portions made with care and passion. The flavors are incredible. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes and is great for ordering many different things to share, or to have for yourself! They even have a few suggested cocktail pairings with some of the dishes that were beyond expectation. Which brings me to the cocktails. This bar manager knows her shit! Absolutely next level. Every sip was mind blowing. Easily one of the top cocktail experiences we’ve ever had, and we’ve been to many of the world’s top cocktail bars. We have already booked our second dinner here, and we’re bringing friends. This place needs to be shared and experienced by all!!

My experience at Via Aurelia was outstanding from start to finish. The restaurant is beautiful. It is warm and stylish and has some very unique features. The cocktails were creative and surprising in the best way, each with unique flavors. The food itself was superb. It was flavorful, well-executed, and plated with great attention to presentation. Each dish arrived looking as good as it tasted. Service was excellent: attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the evening. Combined with the music and vibrant ambiance, the whole experience felt elevated, but retained a familiarity from the Che Fico team.

I expect this place to be around for a long time - Mission Rock lucked out. Some of the most attentive and professional service I’ve ever had. Beautiful refined atmosphere but not overly stiff. Every dish was thoughtful and delicious - the green garlic custard was one of the best bites I’ve had recently.

High end delicious Italian food. Great attentive service and large bright space. However it is very expensive, especially the bar alcohol and wine. But the food, especially the scallops were delicious.

I really wanted to give more stars to this place, but we had a really mixed experience there. On one hand, the staff was very nice and welcoming; on the other hand, we waited for our pasta for 1 hour and 45 minutes! In the meantime, we had 2 compliments from the chef. The first one was some chickpea chips—literally 2 chips—which were kinda okay. Not my type of food, though. The second one was some bread with olive oil and pig fat spread. I eat everything, but that was just gross. And for 4 dishes and 2 glasses of alcohol, we paid almost 300 dollars. And the funniest part was that the "Italian" restaurant didn't have espresso. They only had Americano from the filtered coffee machine. Overall, what we ordered (not the chef's compliments) was pretty good, but keeping in mind the whole experience, the place is heavily overpriced.
