Very typical Roman trattoria, with an wide buffet of antipasti and mixed vegetables. A good selection of pastas and other typical Romans main courses. Big portion of food a good wine selection too.

If you want to see where the real Romans eat,suggest go to Il Cortile. You cannot find a single tourist there. It has a die for buffet with great selection of “antipasti” as well as a die for dessert buffet. I tried at different times pasta and they were all good as well as lamp chops. Service is friendly. Family owned. They make you feel at home. Not noisy( one of my most important criteria). It is located in one of Rome’s most beautiful neighborhood, Monte Verde Vecchio. You can go for lunch and also eat outside in the spring and summer. Young ones and those who have strong legs can easily climb the hill from trastevere to Gianicolo and up to the American Academy and another five minute walk from there to Il Cortile. ( total walking time 45 minutes) or walk down after a good lunch. The neighborhood has beautiful classic and liberty architecture two- three story private houses. It is not your downtown antique Rome but it gives a good flavor of residential Rome. Reservation is a must at Il Cortile. It is about 40-50 Euro per person with wine if you eat a really full dinner.

I just had an incredibly deliciously fresh fillet of Dover Sole and a side dish of chicory. The pasta is average, the bread is delicious and the wine selection is excellent. Good experience.

Very respectable Roman Italian food. I had the ravioli with tomato sauce and the meatballs with mashed potatoes, plus half bottle of Montepulciano d'Abrusso. All of it was delicious comfort food. We were lucky to get a table at 8PM and by 9PM, all of the tables were booked, so reservations are probably a good idea.

Clearly a neighbourhood favourite as evidenced by the number to local customers. Recommend booking a table, as it's quite popular even during a weekday. Food quantity is decent, and quality as well. Not over flavoured, but delicate.

Maybe it was an off night but the food was very average at best. Pasta with prawns and zucchini didn’t seem fresh at all and pasta itself reminded me of instant ramen. Filet was tender but not the best cut and under salted. Greens looked slapdash. Wine was good. Double charged for bread like someone else mentioned. Been to Rome many times; maybe our luck has run out in terms of consistently excellent value for money dining.

Large serves of undistinguished overpriced routine dishes. Pleasant local atmosphere and friendly staff but not worth going out of your way or spending 50+ euros a head.

Well worth a visit as is a true local restaurant. .Fabulous array of anti pasti - possibly the best in rome . Always fresh and remarkably varied. Secondo meat dishes are simple and well prepared. The quality of the meat is consistently good. Comfortable seating inside and outside on the pavement. Unabtrusive and efficient service . The let down is the billing. I have been overcharged more than once. Simple maths is not the owners strong point so do check your bill before handing over your cash. (Also they will always charge you for bread that you don't eat) .

Famous for its "antipasti" buffet serves decent, but not particularly exciting, food. It is nice to sit outside in the summer, even if the table are just on the sidewalk of a quiet street. The service could be improved.

Very rude waiter who told us to 'go to a different restaurant' next time for requesting the second bread basket to be removed from our bill, as we hadn't ordered or eaten it. Perhaps there is some cultural misunderstanding on how bread is ordered, but that level of rudeness was quite shocking.
