Locanda Val Grande is run by passionate, competent, kind, and helpful people. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the low season, and a low flow of people passing through, we were greeted warmly and kindly and informed by the owner of the impending snowfall shortly before our lunchtime arrival. As for the quality of the food, there's nothing to complain about; everything is excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend the cheese and cured meat platter, the tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, and their homemade desserts. Even the homemade compotes are mouth-watering. Congratulations!

Locanda della Val Grande is an excellent restaurant in a charming location. Its location allows visitors to enjoy a stroll through enchanting nature, a walk of about an hour. The service is excellent, with kind and welcoming staff, and the food offers a culinary experience unlike anything I've ever had before. I highly recommend the tagliata di manzo. I recommend trying this restaurant if you're looking for a welcoming place with delicious food.

A charming place and authentic cuisine. We went there for the special "Brescia spit-roasted skewer," which all my friends loved. As a vegetarian, I enjoyed the excellent grilled cheese with polenta and grilled vegetables. The desserts were also delicious. The highlight is undoubtedly the truly beautiful location.

We tried the food at the Locanda after a hike from Vezza d'Oglio to Malga Val Grande. Excellent product quality and interesting flavor combinations, with a special mention for the blueberry and mint risotto. To top it off, the crostata was superb. Extremely friendly, helpful, and customer-focused service... a delightful lunch break!

We stayed at the Locanda on the day dedicated to the Brescian spit-roasted meat. We had a wonderful meal; the meat was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. The place was clean and very charming, with a huge, beautiful outdoor garden. The owner was extremely helpful and gave us tons of information about the valley, tips on what to see, the best times to stay, and the best route to take to get back. He even gave us a detailed map that made it impossible to go wrong. We only had lunch, so I can't comment on the rooms. It was a great experience, and I'd recommend this place to everyone.

Third time in 4 weeks, still completely satisfied! We're usually a large group (8/10) with children (half of the group) and we've always had a great time! The location is within walking distance, the break always gets longer than planned thanks to Matteo's hospitality, and then a nice long walk through the valley. Excellent food, usually generous portions, delicious platters, and a menu that varies based on the ingredients available but is always good and offers options for children too. Prices are higher than average, but the food is carefully prepared and high-quality, and not like a self-service restaurant as is often the case. One of my favorite stops that I'll try to repeat next winter! See you soon!

Situata all’inizio della magnifica Val Grande, questa locanda é un ottimo posto dove riposare e rifocillarsi. Perfettamente pulita e in ordine. L’accoglienza e il servizio sono cordiali, simpatici e disponibili. I piatti sono molto buoni e freschi. Si tratta di un vero paradiso.

Bellissima locanda, immersa nella natura della Val Grande. Esternamente fatta in pietra con tetto in legno, richiama molto le cascina montane. Svariati posti a sedere sia al chiuso, sia in veranda che nel giardino. Interno accogliente caldo con finestre che rendono il tutto molto panoramico. Vi consiglio di prenotare. Piccolo parcheggio vicino alla locanda. Qualità prezzo ottima!

Locanda situata lungo la strada che percorre la Val Grande. Si mangia all'aperto e il luogo è molto bello. Il cibo è buono (ma a mio parere non superiore rispetto ad altri rifugi della zona). Ottimi gli antipasti: sia il classico tagliere con salumi e formaggi (ottime le marmellate fatte in casa), sia quello vegetariano (e nonostante non sia vegetariano questo mi è sembrato persino più buono e più originale, diverso dal solito tagliere classico insomma). Le tagliatelle ai funghi: buone le tagliatelle fatte a mano ma di funghi ce n'erano davvero molto molto pochi 😔 tagliata ottima così come il risotto. Sembra invitante anche il piatto della locanda (un piatto classico di queste parti: formaggio alla piastra, salamella, polenta e funghi), ma non l'abbiamo preso a dire il vero. Dolci buoni ma nella norma, direi. Prezzi circa 20-30% più alti rispetto ad altri rifugi della zona.

Posto molto bello per passeggiate tranquille.

We had lunch at the Locanda today, two of us returning from the Val Grande hike. Very quick service, you can reserve a table in advance by calling, and two generous and delicious first courses. Polenta and gorgo, just like at grandma's house—we love feeling at home! And to finish, an exceptional homemade amaro. A trip to remember!

Beautiful spot in the Val Grande. Delicious coffee and wonderful cake. Easily accessible by mountain bike or on foot. By car, the route we arrived at was challenging, and generally only suitable for drivers.

I went to Locanda della Val Grande for lunch. The platter of cured meats, cheeses, and jams was truly excellent. We ordered the small one, but the portion was generous... After the platter, the two of us were only able to share a first course and a dessert. We would have preferred an even smaller platter, so we could have ordered more dishes later. The gnoc de la cüa were also very good. Beautiful location, surrounded by nature, although the large white gazebo outside spoils the view a bit. Friendly and helpful staff.

We only had lunch, not an overnight stay. The food was good, but the portions of the entrees we ordered were really small for the price. Guests have free use of the lounge chairs. The location is nice, though not easy to reach. We took the shuttle from Vezza d'Oglio.

What a discovery! Some useful info: - To reach this inn, we recommend leaving your car at the "Grano parking lot" or a little further on. Be careful with the route Maps directs you to, as it takes you down very narrow streets in the heart of Vezza to reduce your mileage. - The trail is very beautiful, convenient for those with pets or children, and takes about 60 minutes. - The inn recommends making a reservation because, despite there being plenty of tables, many hikers and mountain bikers stop here for lunch. - The staff is very kind and polite. - The food is good, and there are several options, including vegetarian options. The price may be a bit high compared to other restaurants in the area, but it's still worth it. For two first courses, one second course, one dessert, two waters, and two medium beers, we spent €76. Congratulations! We'll be back soon :)

Locanda carina immersa in un bellissimo ambiente montano. In due volevamo mangiare qualcosa a pranzo ma senza esagerare. Ordinato un tagliere piccolo con salumi e formaggi (diviso in due), un primo (diviso in due), un secondo con contorno a testa, caffè corretto, mezzo litro di vino alla spina e acqua minerale. Prezzo totale 90 Euro. I prezzi erano correttamente esposti sul menu. La qualità dei cibi era buona, a parte i fagioli duri nel chili (poco cotti). Come valutazione generale considero buona la qualità dei cibi (fagioli a parte) ma ritengo che 45 euro a testa per quanto mangiato sia troppo in rapporto alle portate come anche il prezzo del vino rosso alla spina (€ 9,50 per mezzo litro!)

Bella passeggiata da Grano, nei boschi si vede una esplosione di funghi, ci fermiamo alla locanda, scegliamo dal menù tagliatelle ai funghi e scaloppine ai funghi….. mi sembrava superfluo chiedere se…

Qualità del cibo mediocre, prezzi altissimi e porzioni minime. Consiglio pranzo al sacco per non rovinarsi la giornata. Titolare molto scortese.

Mediocre food quality, extremely high prices, and tiny portions. I recommend packing a packed lunch. UPDATE TO THE MANAGER'S RESPONSE: *** Who should I look for, the waitress? I see, however, that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem; many people have. If I were you, I'd look for a solution instead of justifying it. Otherwise, given the difficulties you mentioned, the situation will only get worse! The discount wasn't mentioned because it was ridiculous. I also appreciate the fact that I pointed it out to you personally; given the reviews, you were aware of the insane prices and the meager quantities. The fact remains that this behavior from a manager is quite inappropriate.

I CONFIRM WHAT I ALREADY EXPRESSED IN THE REVIEW: THE BILL WAS DISPROPORTIONATE FOR THE PORTIONS, AND THE ATTITUDE EXPRESSED IN THE REPLY ONLY REINFORCED OUR NEGATIVE IMPRESSION. THE "DISCOUNT" HAD NOT BEEN MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY AS IT WAS A REDUCTION OF ABOUT 3 EUROS PER PERSON, WHICH OBVIOUSLY DID NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT EFFECT ON THE TOTAL.*** Seven of us visited this refuge for lunch. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the food was generally good, in line with expectations for a mountain refuge. However, we were quite disappointed when we got the bill: we had ordered four ramekins of first courses and two of second courses for a total of €329! The price was decidedly disproportionate to the portions served and the amount we actually ordered, especially considering that the dishes were meant to be shared. We've had lunch at numerous other refuges with the same sharing arrangement, but we've never paid such high prices. Furthermore, since we were seven people, it's unlikely we could have actually consumed nine first courses and nine second courses: if that had been the case, we would have hardly finished both courses. For drinks, we only ordered two beers, a Coke, and four bottles of water, so no wine or other beverages that could justify such a high price. No desserts. It's a shame, because the quality of the food was decent and the atmosphere pleasant, but the lack of clarity on the bill and the excessive price ruined what could have been a positive lunch experience.

Disappointing. I don't know if the chef, who received good reviews, was resting when I dined, yet I had raw pasta on my plate that didn't go well with the ragù. The dish of the day consisted of ready-made polenta, sweetish frozen mushrooms, and a flavorless, hard-to-chew sausage. The location is nice, a wooden house that gives off a sense of order and cleanliness. There are outdoor tables, and the waitress was courteous. She asked me how dinner went; I don't know if she noticed that we'd gotten up ten minutes after the dish arrived, and we hadn't even finished it. I told her it hadn't gone well, and that I invited her to try the raw pasta, but aside from apologizing, she didn't do much. The price was moderately high considering that the dishes were mostly frozen and not at all fresh. Not recommended, especially since the road to get there by car isn't easy at all... and the journey isn't worth the destination at all.
