Cool ambiance. Good coffee
Excellent coffee. Didn't have the most "social" vibe going on since literally EVERY customer was sitting behind their laptop or ipad haha... But that's nothing the place itself can be held accountable for of course ;)
Fun, upbeat espresso bar and coffee shop. Friendly staff, delicious drinks, and a different artist featuring their work in the shop every month.
Great quick coffee spot! I'm not a local but still enjoyed it. The espresso is light but had a kick to it
Delicious coffee, espresso, and coffee drinks. Super nice space and good selection of their own beans.
Cannot call it a perfect day without having an iced mocha here☺️longtime favorite coffee shop in Ithaca!
Amazing coffee, friendly staff, and a cool atmosphere. They even have a few delicious vegan treats!
I was there this morning. Just had a regular coffee. It was EXCELLENT! Can you tell me what kind it was & if you sell the beans by the pound?
I simply love their coffee! My only criticism is that the square credit card machine makes tipping feel expectant.
I've been to this place a few times and have yet to be disappointed my favorite is their cold brew with one of their homemade syrups. They staff has always been friendly and welcoming and the service is very fast. Love them!
Oh man, just purchased an ice coffee with 2 shots of espresso, strapping in for the ride of my life. This cafe was very clean, the staff was friendly, polite, and helpful. They listened to my stupid stories, smiled and nodded and that was very satisfying for me. Will stop by again next time I am in the area.
Thank you for going above and beyond! I ordered some coffees as a treat after a long hard week. Everything took longer than it was supposed to on the way to pick up our coffee and we were running very late. The wonderful staff waited for us even after we went to the wrong location trying to get our coffees. You really brightened my day. Thank you.
I'm super excited that this Gimme location has reopened its indoor seating area. The space is beautiful and a great place to hang out. Coffee, pastries, and baristas are as awesome as ever!
This place is great, they have excellent coffee, a wide variety. Internet connection is provided; and even some delectable pastries sweet, and a few savory selections as wells. I'm glad you're here Gimmie because I had a horrible experience at Press Cafe. This mean-spirited woman tried to disconnect my computer while I was uploading a sensitive file and almost ruined it. I had to stand guard as she kept pacing back and forth frothing at the mouth. I always feel welcome at Gimmie and the staff goes out of their way to make all customers feel welcome.
Fantastic coffee roasters with a great shop, they offer different coffee, espresso, tea and desserts. This is what Starbucks should be. My favorite grind is called leftist and I usually have them pull me an Americano. UNCLE GERRY’S TIP: Bring a pound or two home, and use a french press to make some top-notch coffee and always GRIND YOUR OWNS BEANS RIGHT BEFORE BREWING.
I liked this place a lot. I had a latte and it was exceptionally good. Staff are courteous and efficient. The place has a great ambience, which I will always associate with my visit to Ithaca. You should go!
Hip but welcoming, great espresso drinks with smooth, delious foam. I recommend a mocha with one pump of their chocolate replaced with one pump of a seasonal syrup. Plenty of seating. Well maintained interior.
Excellent, delicous coffee, very well made drinks. These people definitely know what they're doing. Even if the general clientele are pretentious, the coffee makes it worth the visit.
This place is down to business. That's straight fact. It's in the name. Coffee is what you came for, so take it. Where I hail from, the only down to business coffee shop is "Coffee Coffee Coffee". ×3. That's business. Its business casual. The usual. Wear flip flops into the snow type casual. Three buttons down type casual. Stick on a belt and tuck in that shirt tail, remain business like. The boss will be proud. This morning I got a cup of joe, without a side of dough. Dough stuffs me up, makes me unproductive. But joe? Joe's like a stab to the spine with an icicle, make me cringe and put some muscle into that typing. Love you guys!!! Kiss kiss! If your not at Gimme! Coffee right now, your living without thrill and spill. Live a little. Live more. Live mas. Gimme Coffee.
Nice location with a lot of seating both for sitting and working as well as quick visits. Loved their scones, and the barista put together a perfect almond milk cappuccino.
The coffee here Is. So. Good. And reasonably priced too! Same for all the baked goods, really really delicious stuff! Service is always quick, I love this place :)
Just the best lattes I’ve ever had. Great outdoor seating. Gets a bit crowded while waiting, but very worth any small inconvenience.
The downside is that they are walk-up only (as of July 21 2021). The upside is that they made spectacularly good lattes for us: strong, fresh and distinctive. I'd be delighted to go back, most especially if we reach a time when they can reopen for interior seating.
It meets all the basic requirements of a coffee bar... Good coffee, locally roasted, well made by talented (and unionized!) Baristas. I think they are friendly enough, just not full of fake happy to see you smiles. There's a decent selection of pastries and such. After these basics, you'll like gimme, or not, based on ambience. It's very popular with students who are studying and chatting. They tend to camp out here for a long stay. There are many tables. Older people also frequent gimme. Local art on the walls is changed regularly. I usually like the music mix. I like the coffee and the vibe. It's not too pretentious. You should like the coffee, the vibe might not be yours.
Barista knew his stuff & cashier was exceptionally friendly even though I hadn't had coffee yet and could scarcely function yet. Espresso (I had the single origin) was excellent & came with a side of sparkling water. I will absolutely be back next time I'm in Ithaca.
Fantastic coffee and coffee products! Easily the best in Ithaca, although at times the staff knows that, and can be a bit stiff. But you'll be hard pressed to find better coffee beans in Ithaca, and the consistency of their quality is great.
I spend a lot of time here working on my laptop. The coffee is superb and worth the extra 50 cents to 1 dollar. Nice wifi, tables, and bathrooms. Side note: not everywhere who sits here wears deodorant and it can get a little smelly if you get unlucky with a bad seat or if someone walks in on a hot day and sits near you.
This is a convenient location for me to hit on the way home coming from Wine Country if I need a little pick-me-up. I also appreciate their hours for a little later. Most importantly though the coffee is good and that's all you could ever ask from a coffee shop..
I like this coffee shop. The staff are really nice and they make most things from scratch. But good LORD, there is one man who just talks loudly and constantly. People try to be nice to him and "act interested" in what he is saying...but i'm sorry thats not helping the situation. He was super defensive when I asked him to be mindful of his volume. Maybe he has mental health challenges, i don't know. But everyone in the coffee shop shouldn't have to use noise cancelling headphones to work or study over the sound of his talking. The coffee shop is responsible for making this space comfortable for everyone. Not just pacifying one man because there's a black lives matter sign on the door. Be inclusive...of everyone.
Local hip coffee shop with great coffee and matcha green authentic cerebral brew tea (not from premixed sweetened powder like Starbucks does). Large comfy lounging area for read and study or zoom meetings. Very professional, fast service and positive vibe. Choose this spot over big chain coffee shops around. Gimme! Coffee On West State St in Ithaca NY
It's a nice spot to sit down for a quick snack and coffee. The service is great. It's a pretty laid back place.
The menu is small but fantastic. Quality of the roast was great and the baristas were very patient and friendly. If I lived in the are I would be a regular. Interesting twists in pastries ; salami and cheese scones and interesting berry croissants. Flat white was perfect.
Some of the best coffee in Ithaca! They consistently make solid espresso drinks. I’ve had lattes and americanos from here and they’ve all been really well made. This is our go-to when we’re in town.
Great coffee & excellent atmosphere. Friendly, knowledgeable and skilled staff of baristas! As good a cuppa as I've ever had anywhere has made Gimme! A daily habit.
Coffee is why you come here. The interior is phenomenal. The hipsters personal is just what you’re expect. Love it!
They've recently (2022) upgraded this cute cafe. Very good place to work (the bigger chairs are very comfy too). Some of the best coffee in Ithaca, for sure. Friendly staff and inviting atmosphere.
Gimme Coffee on State St. is my favorite place in Ithaca. I just love the character of this place. It has a great local Ithaca vibe. The coffee is delicious. The barista are very nice and friendly. The atmosphere is perfect to sit and get some work done. I find Barnes and Noble sometimes too cold to sit, but it is cozy and perfect here. There are original artworks by local artists on display that keep rotating in every few weeks, making it a really cool place. The music is great too. The bathrooms are also clean and well maintained. Highly recommended.
Worth a visit to Ithaca just for their espresso. Quality reminded me of Blue Bottle in SF. Distinct style and absolutely delicious. The party is great, too. Nice open space with lots of larger tables to work or chat in groups.
Excellent and high quality coffee! Thank you!
I've always loved Gimme and the new inside is so lovely and way more welcoming! I also want to thank the staff for being patient this morning when I brought my puppy inside. They are not open to dogs but my puppy is too young to tie up outside and they allowed me to have her inside while I waited for my latte. I really appreciate their flexibility!
Best chai I've had in a long time, and my partners latte I almost had to steal it was so delicious. Their baked goods were equal excellent and service was friendly, quick and safe. I wish I lived closer so I could get their coffee more often. Definitely will be going back each time im in Ithaca.
Great single origin coffee (tested espresso on the rocks), and at least 3+ vegan breakfast/pastry items (I loved the apple turnover and raspberry croissant). Great quality and selection for vegan coffee drinkers.
Great local place with a good variety of brews and drinks depending on your tastes. I get only plain brew so I can't speak to the more elaborate drinks. The staff seems friendly. It gets very busy at peak hours but if you visit at off times you will find lots of space and a peaceful atmosphere. Parking can be a pain as it's street parking only and a lot of it is metered during the day.
This is one of the best places to get coffee! Baristas are all really nice, coffee is strong and delicious! I always get an iced mocha and enjoy looking at their big ole' dictionary while I wait for it to be made, which there usually is not much of a line for either
Extremely good coffee. Coffee has evolution of flavor and an incredible finish. So smooth and complex. Nice atmosphere to do work. The local art, alt music, and lack of crowds makes for a nice break from the bustling coffeeshops in Collegetown.
The espresso and espresso drinks are consistent in quality, and always fantastic. The Gimme locations in Ithaca are all very nice to be in. I was sorry to see the one on Green street go, but that remaining two more more homey inside anyway. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
I quite like this place and find myself gravitating back here whenever I visit Ithaca. It’s a large cafe with lots of seating and good coffee and pastries. It’s a nice spot to hang at for a while. It’s a spacious place that I think can get crowded - I happened to be here on a snowy day right upon opening when I took the photos. Staff are very kind.
They have absolutely the best coffee in the area, I never skip a visit to Gimmie! when in Ithaca. Now if they'd just open a location nearer Syracuse 🙏🤞🤞
Appreciate that Gimme is still thriving as a local, small coffee shop. Good coffee and pastry items. I will say, I miss the old interior. I find the new inside of the MLK location a bit off-putting -- less cozy without individual tables or warmer lighting. I wish seasonal and specialty drinks were also publicized more regularly on social media; it can feel a bit awkward having to wait until you're at the register to see the list.
Modern coffee shop. Staff is friendly, coffee is locally roasted, and they have some great looking pastries. Standard coffee and tea menu (espresso drinks, drip coffee, hot tea, etc). And they have cold brew! Unlike many other places in Ithaca, Gimme feels fresh and modern. It’s a great place to work, meet a friend, or read. There’s lots of outlets and free wifi.
Great coffee, cool staff... Laughed out loud at the almost movie-like hipster vibe, of people “working” on their laptops in a cafe on public WiFi, and the skinny jeans over flabby-bellied guys donning the perfectly combed over tuft of hair sticking out just far enough from under their beanie so that you can see they understand the trend.
Nice lil coffee shop not much to note here but the coffee and service was excellent! 8/10
Coffee and snacks are great. Only 4 stars bc when it's busy it's one of the loudest cafes I've ever been to- in no small part bc of the hard surfaces so everything echoes
I love their coffee 5 stars for the coffee! 4 stars cause the baristas have several times had a bad attitude about who knows what. Sometimes I feel like a nuisance ordering my coffee. But the coffee is good enough I can overlook it.
A little warm but it's a nice size coffee shop with a pretty good coffee. The space itself was interesting and it's close enough to other things to not male ot out of the way but far enough that you won't have trouble with too many people being on the street.
Order was mostly right, food selection was very disappointing atmosphere was...cold? Not very descriptive, but it was clean. Just didn't feel like a place to sit and enjoy a coffee.
Excellent coffee and pastries. I especially like the elderberry/raspberry croissants! Would you please carry more snacks approved for the Keto dieters (high protein/low carb.) amongst us?
Nice pastries and great service. Not a big menu coffee, but great quality of product. Good environment to sit with your laptop and work or do some readings.
Baristas are talented and coffee is pretty good, but I wish they carried Califia almond milk because the Pacific brand is so cheap and borderline gross. The drip was pretty good but seemed slightly sour/under extracted.
Super kind baristas. Shop seems a little barren but it may have just been a weekday setup or response to COVID distancing recommendations. I appreciate the safety they exercise. Great coffee on the go.
Glad that they're introducing more lighter single-origin roasts into their portfolio. The standard dark roasts, which are made for the standard pallete, are a bit too Italian/French for my taste. But, service staff is friendly and the coffees are good.
Perfect maple salt latte. My latte was amazing.. Exactly how I would want my coffee to be everyday. They did an amazing job. I am just giving four stars because of the $1.50 up charge for oat milk. That is a bit much.
Gimme never disappoints. Their baristas are well trained, the service is fantastic, the relationship coffee is top notch. They brought third wave coffee to Ithaca and haven't tested on their laurels but have kept improving since. Their baked goods are also quite good. I love the morning Glory muffin as an excellent breakfast option that feels at least a little bit healthy.
Warning I'm picky with my coffee. My large latte tasted more milk than coffee. I suspect it's 2 shots instead of 3. Nonetheless, great space to work from. Free wifi. Clean and friendly <3
Average experience. 6 ppl working in a shift, but very slowly, we moved a chair and they made sure to come over and tell us to move everything back after we leave (we would do it anyways). Service was not very friendly, coffee was just ok, pastries were fresh.
I had a great pour over coffee served on a Kalita Wave and EK43 grinder. The experience at Gimme became awkward when my friends drink orders were screwed up. My friend ordered a cortado to go and the barista called it out as a gibraltar in a for-here cup. My friend, not being a coffee snob, had no idea what a gibraltar was. So she waited for her cortado as my other friend waited for his espresso. After 10+ minutes neither drink came out. The staff got our orders out to us correctly after we explained the situation. Like I said, my pour over was excellent and my wife's cappuccino was wonderful but the fact that only 2 out of our 4 drinks came out right, and the fact that my other friends felt excluded from the coffee community with the lingo leads me to give a 3 star review.
The coffee is decent. The level of service varies wildly depending on the day. I found the prevalence of single use containers and the lack of a recycling bin very confusing in a seemingly progressive city like Ithaca.
The barista at the register seemed annoyed to take my order. It really makes for an awkward first impression as it just made me feel like I was a nuisance by being there. I ordered a small iced vanilla latte to go - it was good! The expresso was smooth. Not too bitter or sour and there was a nice hint of vanilla in the drink. I understand everyone has off days so I would come back to try it again if I’m in the area.
Coffee is amazing!! But it take foreverrrrr to get your drink, too much chit chat among the staff while they make the drinks. Also, the homeless outside are very pushy and relentless, it stresses me out when I go to this location because of them.
I hope this was just one employee. I ordered a medium Cappuccino, the Barista rung it up as a Latte. When asked I was informed that the only difference between two was the size 🤷♂️ That said the drink I received was good, more like a latte though
Coffee much more watery (weaker) than it was made just one year ago and the years prior. I have had four cups from here over the past several days hoping I was mistaken but unfortunately, not so. Not such a great cup of coffee here anymore at N. Cayuga location. Outdoor seating is nice if you can catch a table or bench. Customer service is lovely and efficient.
used to be my ULTIMATE favorite place to get espresso-lattes but now they only take cards and when i was hacked I was without a card for 4 weeks and descided when my new card comes in just not going back. they didnt take my $$ when I was down why give it now
Always too crowded. Packed with people, hardly any conversations. Most heads down, staring at devices. Coffee and tea the usual fare. Some of the counter folks are pleasant, but most of them are surly.
The coffee itself was okay. People seemed nice but it took them 15 minutes to make a cup of latte. They accidentally gave it to another customer, said they'd make another one. Never did. Had to ask then they let 3 customers pass by.
good vibe, and nice study space. BUT matcha was insanely weak. basically $8 for a cup of oatmilk
Previous reviews that mention "good Wifi" or "good place to work" are horribly misguided. Indoor seating appears to be gone for good. The "Dine-in" option simply does not exist.
Trying to patronize a local business for a coffee during Corona shut down. Called the Cayuga St store. The girl who answered the phone spoke so fast it was difficult to understand. When I finally got her to slow down her speech I would have to place an order online and pick up in State St. Ok fine.. online placed order I could then pick up on Monday, 2 days away?? She can’t tell me this? Done! Not the 1 st time I found this delicious coffee place to be super UN helpful.
Ugh, I used to go here EVERYDAY for over a decade- the vibe here now is soooo stuffy and unnecessarily pretentious. Miss the days of baristas having fun and spreading kindness in the world. Now feels like everyone is so uptight and treat people like they shouldn’t be there. Lame. Not sure what changed.
Painfully slow service. People were waiting ages for their coffee and no apologies offered. Definitely not a grab and go type place.
Normally, I highly recommend Gimme Coffee but the State Street location has gone bad because of a rabid barista Brittany. I've been coming there for years, tipping highly andI spending between 10 and $15 a day. I have promoted them on my television show. The other day because of an Internet conflict with this woman who is been mean every since I had to block her on Facebook. this person finally reached the Tipping Point I sat down and computer even queued up she came running over and said I had to buy something I was going to use the internet. Later I took a walk around the block (I have a spinal injury sitting long periods of time needs a little exercise) she immediately approached me yelling and getting all red in the face that I could not leave my computer there yada yada yada and I told her that is no problem if it was stolen or something I wouldn't hold give me responsible Plus usually have two or three friends keeping an eye on it anyway. she insisted no I could never leave anything there alone if I was going to leave the store for even a moment I asked her why she was singling me out and ask to speak to the management Unfortunately they were in a meeting or something but this is just absurd I'm basically a local a 58 year-old middle-aged do continuously does numerous acts of charity I've never been spoken to in such a manner I can't believe that take some sort of Facebook conflict and attack me in public I'll wait to hear back from management...
I’m a regular customer at Gimme Coffee and usually enjoy my drinks here. Today, however, I had a very disappointing experience. I ordered two drinks as usual — one iced latte and one hot latte — and clearly told the cashier I wanted oat milk, which is what I always get. Unfortunately, they did not use oat milk today. While I was standing near the counter, I saw the barista pour regular milk into the iced latte. Immediately, a lot of white curdled floaters appeared on top. I overheard the barista say to another staff member, “I don’t know why I poured this,” and then she proceeded to scoop out the floating curds with a spoon instead of remaking the drink. After that, she simply added ice and handed it to me. When I drank it, I could still see and taste the spoiled milk particles. It didn’t feel right, so I searched online and confirmed that this is a common sign of expired milk. This was disappointing, especially from a place I’ve supported often. I hope the team can take better care with ingredients and remake drinks properly when something is clearly wrong. Serving spoiled milk is not acceptable.
