Absolutely love Gus's Hot Dog's! It's been a staple of Waterviet NY for decade's and people from all over Ny stop to get Gus's. They're the best and if you're in the area stop bye there. You definitely won't be disappointed. Family run and owned. Enjoy!
You folks should give robb Topp dogs lessons in good food. Fresh and a great value
There are other things on the menu, but don't be a doofus, get the hotdogs with onions, mustard and chili sauce. Duh. Gus's is a legendary culinary institution in blue collar Watervliet. It is greasy, messy, inexpensive, unhealthy, and monumentally a must-do Capital District bucket list visit. I grew up across the river in Troy, NY, but I've lived in Central Virginia for 20 years. I visit Gus's every time I return to visit my family.

Where else can I go and get 2 cheeseburgers, with onion, meat sauce, mustard and ketchup, nine mini dogs fully loaded and a can of soda for 21 bucks..? The mini dogs were the good kind with natural casing so they had that nice snap, the hamburgers were a very good size. Such a tiny place, hot as hell if you're crazy enough to sit inside, incredibly efficient. We had everything in less than 5 minutes. I can't recommend this place enough, why on Earth would you ever go to and fast food joint if this place is close to where you live.
This place has amazing food! Been going here for over 20 years and hasnt changed at all. My favorite is the cheeseburgers, which are simply delicious, I orger mine with ketchup, onions, and meat sauce. The meat sauce is the special ingredient here. You absolutely have to try it. The mini hot dogs a great too. Got a little pricy over the years but still worth it. If I'm in the area I always have to stop by.

This pit stop of a restaurant is amazing. Dogs and burgers are to die for. Fast service which is a plus. I highly recommend stopping by for a bit. They also sell merchandise like hats T's pants ect. Keep up the good work 🔥

Just a small little order-at-the-window place and that's all that is needed. Great mini hot dogs. Got them with the works. Spectacular! The price is fair but note that it is cash only. Great place! 🌭
Cash only small hot dog place in upstate Ny, always had a line but moved fast. loved the small town feel and the price is hard to beat. Food was delicious quick and a good time.
Literally went there and had them "pack" up a to go order bc I was driving to go visit my dad and the separated everything it was awesome! I took 2 for myself at 11am!! When I drive from Massachusetts I never miss a chance to get my Gus's!!
My friend grew up in the area and recently moved back and brought me here for lunch, the mini hot dogs were delicious. The dogs had that perfect snap and the meat sauce was what really made it the best. I love that they get their dogs from a local spot in Troy NY (Helmbold’s) I wish we had a Gus’s here in NC. I’ll definitely be back any time I’m in the area, super friendly service too. Thank you for a great meal!
Awesome hotdogs for cheap! 1$ - no joke. Classic menu, dogs, burgers, sausage and peppers. Load it all up with the works. The meat sauce is the star here. Reminds me of central CT style meat sauce. Check out Capitol Lunch in New Britain CT if you like these dogs.
Even in the Age of Covid the long line moved FAST. The dogs are EXCELLENT and worth the trip. Tasty meat sauce, fresh bun and a little snap when you bite the dog this is as good as Famous Lunch in Troy. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Complicated review.Obviously a nostalgic neighborhood staple that has served locals for literally generations. If you are going out of your way based on some nonsense influencer or hyped up opinion,you may be in for disappointment.There are definitely better hotdog greasy spoons in the greater capital region.Prices are exceptional and service is very good. If this is nostalgic for you or your looking for cheap sloppy greasy eats,you will be satisfied.I guess worth checking out once but not sure if going out of your way for a second time would be worth it.
I am very conflicted in writing this review. I know this restaurant is a legendary staple in Watervliet. On a recent visit to Cohoes Falls, going to Gus’s was a must do. Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with my dogs. I probably should have picked different toppings, which I Will do if I ever return to the area- which I hope to. If I return and get a different hot dog topping, I will revise my review! The onions were no good for me. PS- juice pictures is not available as a beverage purchase choice.
Tiny, wrinkled, dry hot dogs- like 1/2 the diameter of Charlie's. Topping were ok. True, they are cheap, but they aren't very good.
Disgusting!!!!! Me and my Wife just stopped there and ordered some hotdogs and i swear to god they were burnt almost black and shrunken. I have been going there for years and they were always good til now. Did new owners take over maybe.I ate one of them and my wife took one bite and we threw them out at the stewart’s near it. I wish i would have kept them to take a photo. I will never ever go to this place again and i’m hoping i don’t get sick cause my stomach is starting to hurt me. Take my advise and go to hotdog charlie’s instead!!!!
