Invited my friends visiting from NYC out for dinner to Bardea as a little holiday treat and boy did we all enjoy our time. It was all of our first times at Bardea and the restaurant definitely made an impression. From the staff, to the vibes, to the food, everything was immaculate. We ordered several plates to share for the table, including shrimp, scallops, "pop tarts", and the whole branzino. All of our dishes came beautifully arranged and each plate was described upon presentation, adding to the dining experience. Everything tasted as good as they looked, leaving everyone to argue about their favorite dish. Looking forward to coming back again to taste more of the menu.

Wonderful spot for large or small groups. The staff is very helpful and attentive. When visiting with a group of 22, they were able to give great recommendations for dishes that could feed the whole table with great precision on amount of food. Great selection and variety of starters, entrees, and pastas. They put a lot of thought into the dishes and explain them when they bring them out! Very attentive and knowledgeable staff. The bone in porterhouse was one of the best I’ve had! Absolutely incredible. There are several vegetarian and gluten free options. Would not recommend for vegans. Good selection of speciality drinks and wines. Really enjoyed our meal here and would definitely come back.

The food here is phenomenal! It’s all tapas style so I recommend this place with 4+ people but you could absolutely still do 2 person date nights here as well. This is on the pricey side but the quality of the food was on par with how much we paid. Overall I would absolutely come here again for a special occasion!

Bardea continues to be one of our favorite places in Wilmington, and this visit reminded us exactly why we keep coming back. We started with the octopus tacos, which are always a standout. Perfectly tender octopus with deep, layered flavor, balanced by bright, thoughtful accompaniments that make each bite feel intentional rather than heavy. The burrata “poptart” was playful and comforting at the same time. Rich, creamy burrata paired with sweet and savory elements that felt indulgent without being overwhelming. It’s one of those dishes that sounds whimsical but delivers seriously on execution. The duck foie gras ravioli was unreal. Rich, smooth, and comforting, one of those dishes you slow down for. The beef tartare was elegant and bold, beautifully plated and packed with flavor. Every component worked together, and it felt refined without losing that craveable edge Bardea does so well. For mains, we shared the venison and lamb. Both were exceptional. The venison was deeply flavorful and cooked perfectly, rich but balanced, while the lamb was tender, luxurious, and paired with a sauce that begged to be soaked up to the last bite. To drink, the smoked old fashioned was outstanding. The smoke was present but never overpowering, adding warmth and depth rather than theatrics. We also finished with a marshmallow espresso martini that somehow managed to be indulgent, smooth, and not overly sweet. A perfect end to the meal. Beyond the food, what keeps us coming back is the consistency. Every visit feels special without feeling forced. The service, the creativity, and the execution are always on point. Sharing a meal like this with my wife reminds me why Bardea is more than just a great restaurant. It’s a place we love returning to, again and again.

Perfect date night spot with cozy seating and a warm atmosphere. Everything was tasty and presented beautifully. Would recommend: scallops, gnocchi, cabbage, burrata pop-tart, and whole chicken( just wish they would cut up the chicken for you after presenting it/was hard to do with the steak knife and being so full from previous courses.) oh and the verve mocktail was a great holiday beverage!

Maria was a fantastic server! Everything we tried was so unique and delicious, would come here again and again! I can’t recommend enough! Also Bailey is an amazing manager and a great restaurant and experience all around!

Maria provided above and beyond service, you can tell she loves her job and cares about the customer’s experience. The food was phenomenal and the service was perfect from start to finish. Bailey, the manager on duty, also provided excellent service and was very attentive and knowledgeable. It doesn’t get any better than Bardea.

Upscale with excellent food! The wait staff and servers definitely know how to describe the excellent food they are serving and can help guide your selection. The portions are small but the taste is rich, really a great atmosphere and experience — in their 7th year (2025).

Fantastic small plates, a real culinary experience! Really nice place, with incredibly diverse menu with amazing tastes and presentations. This is a gem of Wilmington. Service is top notch, our server Chanelle was so nice and provided us with outstanding service and the perfect recommendations for us to try. I would happily return to this place, it was a next level culinary masterpiece.

BARDEA SHOULD HAVE A MICHELIN STAR!! This underrated place in Wilmington downtown area blew our minds away. Very few restaurants make classic food into fusion food work from concept to the table -in this case elevated Italian cuisine. And no it's not your regular red sauce pasta or wood fired pizza. Yukta was the sweetest server ever. Her recommendations were phenomenal. I was celebrating my birthday and atleast 3-4 people wished me and made my day. That's how you know the restaurant works really well as a team. Coming to the food - the focus is on small portion which is genius because we got to try a lot of food. Cocktails were the right amount of booze and flavor. We started off with Pop tart - imagine buttery flaky pastry filled with ozzy burrata. Mind blowing and must have. Next we tried chicken parm bao - chicken was melt in mouth and bao was silky soft. For mains we went all vegetarian. Sweet Potato - It was the star of the night. Cannot imagine how they transformed the humble sweet potato into something so delicious. It had like 3-4 main ingredients and that's it. I can have it as meal everyday. Eggplant parm was so light and airy. It wasn't mushy and had the right texture to support stuffed mozzarella inside. To end this amazing joyride we had tiramisu which was drenched in caramel sauce and topped with a kahlua ice cream. Phenomenal. The raspberry panna cotta looked like it came straight off a MasterChef kitchen. This dessert was well thought of and the ingredients paired really well together. I will visit this restaurant again to try the rest of the menu. It's a gem of a restaurant and loved the hospitality. The research and innovation is outstanding. I hope it receives the recognition it deserves.

Amazing food, great service, and such a beautiful vibe ✨ Everything was delicious! 10/10 would definitely come back!

If I could give this 10/5 stars, I would. The atmosphere was great. The food was beyond amazing. When each serving was presented, it was its own moment. The eggplant Parmesan was the best I’ve ever had. The branzino was possibly the most amazing fish I’ve ever had. Luke G was our waiter and he was fantastic. He was extremely thorough with my food restrictions and allergens (which are many) and the way he treated made it the most enjoyable restaurant experience I’ve had. He explained everything really well and was extremely attentive. Money was so worth it!

Bardea in Wilmington is an absolute culinary triumph! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with great service that is both professional and genuinely warm, making you feel right at home. But let's talk about the food – it was truly fantastic! Every dish we tried was a work of art, bursting with incredible flavors and creative twists on Italian classics. It's clear why they've garnered national attention. And to complement the exquisite meal, their drinks were great as well, perfectly crafted and adding to the overall luxurious experience. Bardea is a definite five-star experience and a must-visit for anyone looking for an unforgettable meal in Wilmington.

What an excellent way to celebrate your birthday by having an awesome meal experience at Barde of food and drink. We can honestly say we do not have a favorite item that we tried. They were all incredibly delicious. If you’re interested in trying something new, definitely quite the experience of culinary delight. This is the place to go. We do have to say that they had a scallop tasting on a rice crisp that was just exciting to our pallets. And to top it off because it was a birthday dinner the chef was so nice to sign the menu so I could take it home. ❤️✌🏽🥳👏🏽 definitely a Michelin star contender.

Good choice for family dinner celebration! Everything we ordered was delicious! Our favorite was the calamari and the pop tarts! We also ordered a variety of desserts and we liked each one of them!Oh, their spicy margarita I also loved! Service was fast even if it was crowded (Saturday night). They also have ample seating outside. They have valet parking. Street parking is also available (but I dont advise it). We parked a block away, right next to Double Tree Hotel. About a 3 min week.

Bardea Food & Drink absolutely lives up to the hype. As a NY transplant living in Delaware for 20+ years, it’s amazing to have a restaurant of this caliber right here—no tolls or train fare needed! We went on a Saturday night. Arrived at 5 PM for a window seat, and by 6 PM, the dining room and bar were completely packed. The atmosphere is trendy and stylish, but totally inviting. This is pure comfort food, elevated to the next level. Here's everything we tried: Chicken Parm Bao Buns – Soft, fluffy buns stuffed with crispy chicken parm, gooey cheese, and vodka sauce. Basically an Italian twist on a bao, and it works. Crab Tacos – Light, crispy, and loaded with crab inside a tempura-fried squash blossom. Awesome presentation. Ravioli – Sweet and savory mix with persimmon, creamy cheese, and pecans. Unexpected but really good. Linguine – Perfectly cooked pasta in a scallop-based sauce with rock shrimp and caviar. Rich but not heavy. Iberico Pork – Super tender with a crispy crust. Juicy, flavorful, great sauce. Working Girl Cocktail – Smooth tequila with passion fruit and a little spice. Desserts were just as solid: Sticky Toffee Pudding – Soft, rich, and tabled poured koji toffee sauce. Olive Oil Cake – Rich, moist, and topped with pistachios and olive oil whipped cream, with another tableside pour of guava sauce. Awesome. Service was on point too. Our server, Emily, was friendly, knew the menu inside out, and paced everything perfectly. Bardea deserves all its accolades. If you haven’t been, make a reservation and go. You won’t regret it. Bardea is the empire that Wilmington needed! The brand is top tier and the food and service represent them well! Long live Bardea! Shout out to Maria for being our guide and ambassador of the evening!

Bardea know what it is doing in all ways. The food is elevated, the atmosphere balances sophistication and comfort, and the staff are helpful. If you're visiting Wilmington, this is a "must visit" dining experience. And if you live in Wilmington, you are darn lucky to have this gem.

BLOWN AWAY!! I primarily picked Bardea because of the interesting menu options and for being on the Inkind network. Everything we ordered was PHENOMENAL! Such an amazing demonstration of culinary creativity, presentation, and most importantly—flavor. While I focused on the fusion part of menu, it was nice that they had more traditional Italian options for those who want something more familiar (e.g. Pizza / Lasagna / Pasta). Again, all the food was amazing but by far my two favorites were the Chorizo Empanadas and the Diver Scallops (texture was unreal) Service was a bit overly attentive but overall good.

We ordered the most popular dishes the patient waitress suggested. I like the pizza and lamp most. All of them are very delicious. Also make a reservation first before you go.

Food was very yummy. A clearly well thought out, well executed menu. Drinks imitated Williamsburg-esque style, but that's probably to be expected. Sorta great, mostly 'unique'. Service was delightful. Especially considering how little space they have to navigate. I'd advise you get a table for 3-4, as the 2 tops against the wall are 'eating disorder' level of crammed. Not stylish at all. Maybe ditch a couple tables to expand guest room, up the menu prices (and thus chuck the surcharge) and then this wouldn't be an issue? Music in the bathroom was loud enough to cover up an atomic bomb explosion. I consider that a plus.

If there was only one place to go to during your stay, it would be here. You will have a fantastic time surrounded by lively chatter. Always fully packed so prepare to grab a drink by the bar while you wait to get seated. Decor has a lovely old-world charm with lots of character. Food is meant for sharing so order a ton of dishes to try. My fav was the charred octopus and the raw dishes, but really everything was great and service was fantastic. Great place to bring a date or celebrate a special occasion.

It was a very lovely experience. It was my birthday, and our waiter took his time to walk through each selection. The food was amazing, the ambiance was relaxing, and the complementary glass of champagne was a lovely cap to an awesome dining with friends. I will be back!

My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner here and the 5-star experience started as soon as we walked in the door. While making our reservation, we noted that we were celebrating our anniversary. The hostess greeted us kindly and upon giving her our name, she congratulated us on our anniversary and seated us at our table with menus that were signed by the managers with a personal "Happy Anniversary" message written on the top. Similarly, the waitress welcomed us with a "Happy Anniversary" greeting and returned to the table with complimentary champagne as a toast. Little steps and extra effort to really make our evening special. As wonderful as the service was, the food was equally matched in quality and presentation. Pictured are Nonna's Meatballs which are a must-order! The sauce was smooth and rich and the meatballs were tremendous and delicate. The meatballs needed bread though because it was heartbreaking to have to give that bowl back without sopping up the extra sauce. Also pictured are the pillowy gnocchi that is sauced with tomato soup upon arrival to the table. We had several other plates that were also phenomenal, but I just didn't have pictures of them. The oysters were refreshing and clean, the fried calamari was crispy and tangy with a slight spice from the chilis and the pork bao buns were reminiscent of my favorite sandwich - DiNic's roast pork with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone - but served up in slightly sweet and fluffy bao buns. I can't wait to go back and try new things along with getting the meatballs again. I can't stress it enough - GET THE MEATBALLS!

My husband and I enjoyed our date night here. The food was delicious! Our waitress, I forget her name but it was her first night and she was great! The fish was seasoned well and melted in our mouth. The burrata pop tart was different and delicious. Our drinks were good, it was a good vibe, and we had a great night. We will be back for more!

Bardea is an institution in Wilmington. They set the standard of fine dining here. The staff and kitchen are first rate. Nothing leaves the kitchen that isn’t tasty and perfectly prepared. That being said, what they do with vegetables is unbelievable. How can this chef do things to eggplant, lettuce, celery root(?!?) that none else does? This place is an absolute gem!

B
Brandon Dennis

Alfred at the front desk was so helpful , on a special night for me and my significant, we booked the wrong location. Through his efforts he was able to get us a table quick to celebrate a special night. Although this may seem as a small and considerate thing to do, it meant so much more that we didn’t have to reevaluate our night or wait super long. Very nice staff with understanding is such a plus when in the restaurant business. Alfred I️ hope that this review shows the value you have as a person and a hard worker in the restaurant business. For what turned out to be amazing could’ve been a chaotic night turned. But , it turned into a night that me and my significant will cherish and will be back for!

This experience for my birthday was absolutely incredible. Sabrina was the best and most friendly server I’ve ever had, and I’m in the industry. The food is complex and absolutely incredible. I can’t say enough good things about this place - start to finish, an incredibly wonderful time. I tell everyone I know about it. Thank you Sabrina!

The Food and Service was excellent. The presentation was really nice and tasted fantastic! Our server Jailyn was very helpful friendly & knowledgable when asked about the menu. From the moment you walk in the door until the moment you leave, the experience at Bardea is nothing short of amazing!!! The atmosphere is beautiful and the host's are warm and welcoming! Our waiter Matt was great! He answered all of our questions and made great suggestions and made our experience so fun! The people that brought our plates to the table and explained everything were so nice and great and letting us know all of the different flavors. I can not say enough about the entire Bardea experience!! Can't wait to go back for a 3rd time to try more!!!!

One of the best food spots in Wilmington for sure. Spanish vibes with tappas and shared plates. Awesome atmosphere, vibey, fun music, and the wait staff is on point from service to knowing the menu and recs. This place is always a nice treat!

Really nice meal. The flavors were complex and interesting. 10/10 for the service. Maria did a great job of providing exactly the service I expect from a nice restaurant ( my standard is high). New plates and silverware at course change is hard to find, but clearly a regular thing here.

**If you want video/pictures of this review look on my food Instagram or TikTok @ReservationforAmanda This is one of the most upscale restaurants in Wilmington. It is often regarded as one of the best, and you can tell both the chefs and the staff work hard to make it that way. We tried 8 dishes (they recommended 4 to 6 for two people, so we over did it) and left stuffed...like could not finish the delicious dessert stuffed. Our ranking of the dishes we ate: --Carbonara--yes yes yes, a delightful explosion --Lamb neck--the richness of the broth cut slightly with the acidity of the passionfruit...order this --Branzino--light, flaky, heavily seasoned skin (in the best way) --Burrata pop tart--a classic that the entire table will love --Beef Tartare--loved the pillowy bread twist on this dish --Salmon--these are meant to be eaten in 1 bite, a pop of citrus with salty roe at the end --Scallop--this was the only miss for me. I thought the flavors were competing with each other instead of complementing. The Ode to Chocolate was awesome with so many different flavors and textures. A chocolate lovers dream! The staff here was super friendly and helpful. Each dish was described as it came out. I always love that because it shows how much care goes into each dish. Sabrina, our waitress, recommended incredible dishes and answered the dozens of questions we had. We will, of course, be back to try even more.

The bar has very efficient and sweet bar tenders, I was promptly asked about any allergies when I ordered a custom drink ! My grapefruit fizz was made diligently :) Restaurant opens into the Bar area which is small and can accommodate not more than 15 people, and leads to the restaurant inside which is suited for larger parties. Vibe is excellent with servers seamlessly passing about The reservation system is quite efficient as well, one could earn dining points with their AA advantage rewards membership if planned ahead! ‼️Plan Parking ahead: I parked at the mid town residence garage and was charged 9$ hourly. Could be better!

We had dinner here on New Year’s Eve and it was a nice, upscale spot with some fancy menu options. The food was good! We ordered the Margherita pizza and Momma’s meatballs, and everything we tried was tasty (wish I could remember what else we got!). Only downside was the atmosphere, it was really loud, and the tables were super close together. We could barely hear each other, and the group next to us was so loud we could hear their conversation better than our own.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff; seated promptly for our reservation. It's not an inexpensive restaurant. I'll call it "cozy" seating but tables are pretty close to each other. Bottle of Poggio Anima Rose ($56) was cool, not cold but good addition to dinner. Had the Little Gem Salad ($13) which was super tasty; Upside Down Pizza ($19) could have been cooked just a tad more so it wasn't so flimsy and toppings didn't fall off but very flavorful and the crust was perfect; Fusilloni ($23) was ok and seemed a little overcooked (bread would have been a nice addition to soak up the sauce); full rack of ribs ($48) was delicious but too much for 3 people (good problem). Half rack would have been sufficient. Nice atmosphere. A place to go for special occasions or business dinners. Surcharge of 3% to offset rising costs associated with restaurant added to bill. Still on the fence about this practice but wasn't a dealbreaker. Will probably go back but not for a while. Lots of other great restaurants to tap into.

First impression is last impression - hostess was trying to put us in THIS VERY CORNER of the dining room with two tiny chairs when 1. We were the first reservation of the night, and were to occupy the very first table of the night, 2. I’m 8 months pregnant. She attempted to put an older couple who’s been married for 40 years in this very corner again , while the restaurant wasn’t even 20% full, visibly overcrowding this area. It’s just not a smart and inviting thing to do as the front face of the restaurant. One star off because of this first encounter. Everything else exceeded our expectations. Our server Ryan is knowledgeable, professional, and attentive. Menu is seasonal, creative and easy to understand. Portion is perfect for curious minds with limited stomach capacity. Dishes are reflective of the R&D spirit of the restaurant. The two of us had 5 proteins from 5 dishes - chicken, lamb, rabbit, duck and crab. Bold combination of ingredients, creative mix of spices and aromatics, innovative flavor profile that goes surprisingly well on the palate. Will return for other occasions.

Very good experience for my good friend’s birthday. We had the calamari (great taste), meatballs (my friend enjoyed them), Risotto was the very best!, chicken pasta (we could have done without). The drinks were good, especially the fruit and sour cocktail(great flavor). The cheese cake was chefs 💋. All of the wait staff was friendly. Our waitress Abigail/Annabelle was very friendly, attentive and pleasant! The risotto is a must try dish!

My experience at Bardea Food and Drink was very positive. It's important to note that this place is known for its Italian food and proudly serves tapas-style portions, with menu prices reflecting small, shareable portions. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive, although there was initially some confusion regarding menu allergies. However, the issue was quickly resolved. I recommend reserving a table through OpenTable, even on weekdays, as the restaurant tends to be busy. Despite this, the food arrives promptly. In terms of the food, there are hits and misses. Some dishes are incredibly tasty, while others are just okay. I particularly enjoyed the Barbacoa and Crab tacos. It's worth noting that the menu may be limited for those with allergies, such as eggs, dairy, or gluten. While there are many vegetable options, not all are vegan. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that Bardea is one of the best places to have dinner in the northern Delaware area.

J
John DePasquale

Our experience at Bardea started on a negative note, as we could barely get in the door to speak to the host. We arrived at 710 for our 715 reservation but were not seated until 750 at what seemed to be the worst table in the restaurant. It was in a cold drafty corner with poor lighting, making for an uncomfortable experience. Our server Brandon was excellent, super friendly and knowledgeable. However, the pacing of the meal was disappointing, with long gaps between courses. The appetizers were good, but the portions were extremely small. We shared the steak board, but by the time it arrived, the slow pacing had dulled my appetite. I skipped dessert, though others at our table had some. Portions were not great for sharing. Overall, I am not sure Bardea is worth the hype or effort. I wouldn’t go back.

Hard to find parking. Nice decor. Very noisy! Difficult to hold a conversation. Not a place for an intimate dinner. Service was perfunctory. Drinks were average. Food was average. Lots of competition in the Philadelphia - New York area.

My husband and I had a fantastic dinner at Bardea last night. This truly is upscale dining at its best! As starters, we had the octopus taco and the fried calamari (fried in a separate fryer so it is safe for those of you who are gluten intolerant). Both were to die for! The presentation of the octopus taco was superb. Next we had the diver scallop in green curry and the lamb osso bucco. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the green curry sauce was heavenly. The lamb was a surprisingly bold contrast with the other dishes. Finally my husband had crab tagliatelle (I could not have it since I am gluten intolerant) and he said that too was wonderful. I had the corn rotolini (the chef made a glutenfree version of it for me) and I would say: if there is anything you eat at Bardea, it has to be this! If you are gluten intolerant, this is a great restaurant to try! Apparently, the chef is gluten as intolerant so there is quite a wide selection of dishes that are safe to eat! Please know that the pasta dishes are small so you should order at least one other plate to accompany your pasta dish. Finally, we wine selection is amazing. If you are looking for an awesome dining experience, this place will deliver!

We reserved a table over a month ago and tonight was the night. We waited almost 40 minutes just to get water and this is after we already asked for it. Our bubbly waitress finally took our order and it was all just ok. I’m not sure if the 40 minute wait for water had anything to do with our taste buds but the food was not that memorable. The presentation was very good, though. Bardea bought our drinks but the offer did not prevent me from writing this review. Service is essential and they fell severely short. I will NOT return nor recommend.

I reserved a table for my birthday earlier this month but left due to poor service. My husband and I were seated, received the appetizer but never got the main courses. We both ordered pasta and that's easy and quick to make. The server who had a rude undertone along with the manager both apologized for the delay, stated the food was on the way, but again nothing came out. Initially, the server said the plates were being garnished but that was about 10 minutes or so before the manager stated the same. At some point, hubby and I got fed up and left because the wait was uncalled for. When we spoke to the manager or whatever she was, she "acted" mortified that we received this type of service and also said it wasn't in good taste. Her actions showed she was full of it with her hands crossed across her chest as though she was ashamed. SMH. My husband wrote a review on the company website, received a note from an owner to speak about the experience but have yet to hear of anything. Needless to say, we won't return despite the food being good.
