Excellent cuisine! The service is a team effort but Rick was knowledge, courteous, and made you feel like your at home. Get the price fixed menu. It works almost the same as a la carte. Brian Cooper, the chef, perfects and prepared the food we had with an eye not to over flavor the food. A great dining experience. We will be back!!
Place is perfect. Food is phenomenal and the service is outstanding. The absolute best in Wilmington.
Upscale restaurant. Food was excellent and service was great. Would recommend for an intimate dining experience..
Came here to celebrate my moms new promotion to VP. Everything was amazing. The atmosphere is intimate and enjoyable. We made a reservation, recommended that you do too as it gets busy. We we’re sat as soon as we arrived and greeted by our server Chanel. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and polite. With a hint of comedic accent. The food speaks for itself. Started with an amazing charcuterie board. Ended up getting the prix fixe as it made the most sense. Started with sweet potato soup. Which was luscious and smokey. My second course was the kimchi pasta with the diver scallops. I mean my god. Those scallops were cooked to perfection. And the sauce was nice with a slight, but not overwhelming kick on the backend. My main was the duck breast. It was cooked to perfection and so juicy and succulent. Compliments to the chef on those beets too. I typically don’t like beets as I find them too earthy, however these beets right here. Oh these beets right here. These beets were the best I’ve ever had. Finished off with the rice pudding which wasn’t too sweet. Overall had a great time and most importantly my mom enjoyed. Will be back for sure.
One of our favorite places to eat in Wilmington. The owners are lovely, and the staff is knwledgeable and approachable at the same time - unlike a lot of other wine-centric places. The food is good enough to keep us coming back even though we live in downtown Philadelphia and have our choice of places within walking distance. Domaine Hudson is in a close battle with Moro for our favorite place in Wilmington.
Loved it! The decor is casually elegant, the waitstaff and bartender were warm and professional and the food was delicious. The menu offers something for everyone and their wine list and prices are good.
We highly Recommend this restaurant. We went on 9/14/18 during restaurant week and had the wine pairing which was perfect. Staff were very friendly. We definitely want to go back for their Thursday special.
Splendid. First time at Domaine Hudsin, went for a couples dinner. Small intimate setting, but we weren't closed in. Staff was excellent, Cindy the hostess was quite welcoming. The menu was short, so I was a bit worried about the choices. Trying things outside my norm, I opted for the parsnip soup, 1/2 kimchee linguini & the strip steak. My spouse had the beet salad, shared the kimchee pasta & the strip steak. Soup - nice flavor & texture, creamy. The walnuts & small apple bits worked well with the bisque. The kimchee linguini had seared scallops, broccoli & pasta. Flavor was amazing, it had a bite to it. Scallops were perfect. The steaks - it came sliced - I could cut with a fork. Literally. Probably one of the most tender beef steaks I have ever had. Chocolate truffles topped that off, they were tasty if not a bit sweet, topped with caramel glaze. Very glad we went, it was a great meal. We parked in the Christiana Care lot for free. There was plenty if street parking too
I don't like carrots or brussel sprouts or salad. All of these were amazing. The pork chop entree was perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful...which itself goes a long way. Food overshadowed it all.
Artfully prepared food that consistently delights. The Gnocchi appetizer was divine. The Bolognese was delicious as well. Great bar and wine selections compliment a balanced menu.
Fine Dining in Wilmington with a very well curated wine list and incredible by the glass program with 2,5, and 7 ounce pours of many different wines. A really good Prix Fix option. Ample parking in the quiet neighborhood behind the restaurant, across the street from Wilmington hospital.
Last minute decision to stop by on a Friday night and had the best time sitting at the bar. Great wine recommendations, wonder cheese and charcuterie boards. Can’t believe we don’t get here more often.
Want a place to just stop and have a little wine? It's Domaine Hudson. Or want a place to have a delicious dinner? That's also Domaine Hudson. Or have both. The atmosphere is as nice as the food is delicious. It is both sophisticated and a neighborhood place at the same time. Great!
One of my best dinners ever. Chapeau! The charcuterie board is simply amazing, every bite is an explosion of goodness. Definitely you should take try the 4-courses fixe pris menu, in my case I replaced the starter with the charcuterie with only 5$ surcharge.
The service was great and friendly. The chef was very accommodating allowing us to make substitutions. And the plates were empty at the end of the night. Great place.
This place has their act together! The food is superb and their drinks remind of something from a speak easy. If you're looking for a nice romantic destination, check it out...you're welcome.
Hard to find but well worth the effort. Easily one of the best dinners we've had in North Wilmington. Attentive staff, amazing food and great cocktails.
Atmosphere was wonderful and staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Food was amazing! Most memorable was the rabbit tortilini and the chocolate cake.
Amazing food and amazing wine. A little pricey but will worth it! The portion sizes are bigger than I expected.
Hidden gem. Nice little place that you might not know about by the exterior and its surroundings. Some people may think it is not worth the exorbitant price but I would suggest that while other places may give you more value for your money, this one stands alone in what it does. So get something you would probably not find somewhere else.
Great place to entertain fir work. The meat and cheese selections are good and wine flights help with over 500 wines in the cellar!
Best restaurant in Delaware. Chef Kalup's Duck Confit, Duck Breast and Charcuterie are amazing, but everything he does is unique and wonderful
Happened in based on Google reviews. Extensive wine list, excellent service, eclectic menu, delicious food. A bit pricey, but worth it. We loved everything we ordered. Trust the chef, the menu doesn't always sound like it's going to be good - or at least that the ingredients would go together - but they do and it is delectable.
The atmosphere is very pleasant. Every server can help well with all questions and food sensitivities. The cocktails, the wine, the food, the desserts and after dinner beverages are spectacular. The food is seasonal and fresh. This is an excellent choice for a fine dining experience.
Chance visit but pleasantly surprised. Generous mixed drinks, decent wine selections though limited. One of the best preparations of swordfish ever, perfectly cooked, done and still moist, steak au olive done perfectly. Ample portion sizes. Great team work with the staff.
Extensive beer and wine list, great service and a delicious meal! The duck mousse starter was amazing, as was the fish of the day. We didn't even make it to dessert, but I'm sure it would have been fabulous as well. Service was excellent. This was a great stop on the drive from Washington, DC up to Philly!
Lovely intimate upscale dining. Took a very special lady here on our first date. I think the special treatment we received worked it's magic. We were encouraged to stay after closing to dance. That was 4 years ago and we're still dancing. Love to visit whenever we can.
We had a wonderful dinner here! They have an excellent wine list and offer many options in 1.5, 3, and 6 ounce pours, so it's easy and fun to try different wines throughout the meal. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Wilmington. Most people I talk to about it don't know it even exists. The combinations they use are genius and the prices are well worth it. Plan on spending a couple of hours enjoying delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere.
If you are into wine, bourbon and fantastic food. This is the place for you. Price is high but we'll worth it. Reservations are a must as this place is small with high demand. You can stop in for a quick drink, but your best bet to to stay and have a culinary experience. Look for thier wine and bourbon events. I have been to a few and they were quite memorable.
Great food and service from my favorite Wilmington date night spot. My wife and I went recently and we're informed that each Thursday is a date night special. A cheese board, two entrees, a bottle of wine, and two desserts for $95. With incredibly convenient (safe) street parking right out front, it's a no brainier for a relaxed but intimate evening out.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Wilmington to bring friends from out of town. Domaine Hudson offers interesting multi-course and prix fixe menu options that rotate frequently enough to keep us coming back. Don't miss the mushroom risotto or the bread pudding! The staff will happily match wine selections to your order and their wine flights let you try multiple pairings. Their selection is massive! We came to celebrate my step-son's birthday and they went above and beyond to make his evening special. He was invited to take a peek in the kitchen and it was an unforgettable experience.
It's on of my favorite restaurant in Wilmington. The food is delicious: we had the Verlasso salmon appetizer, which was perfectly seasoned; followed by a big plate of perfectly cooked duck (thank you for not over cooking it!), Steak and Barramundi. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We also tested several of their wines, and this list is very diverse and tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant, the staff is very accommodating and nice.
We love Domaine Hudson! Always high quality, delicious food and drink. We love sitting at the beautiful bar even more than sitting at the tables. The bartenders are always very attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place.
Delicious food, and excellent service. Parking can sometimes be tricky as there is only street parking in one side of the street. The kitchen can also be a bit slow at times. Other than that it is an excellent restaurant. Perfect for a Romantic Date Night.
Ordered the mahi mahi and a green salad. The mahi mahi was tender and juicy but I could taste the gas grill on every bite. They need to switch to a hardwood grill so that the gas taste doesn't taint the fish. The moat of sauce was yummy but too heavy for the fish. I regret not asking for the chicken to be used in the dish instead of the fish. Next time I will have to ask to sub. The salad was a healthy helping of greens and could be a meal in itself.
Great food and wine list. A good choice for a special dinner. Took my wife there for her birthday and we both enjoyed it.
Really tasty food and friendly service. Duck was way overcooked, served well done when I ordered it medium. A tad overpriced.
Pricey, but great food. Always good to make a reservation. They also have a special menu.
great wine and bear selection, Kip was an outstanding waiter. really knew his win and beer!
New American menu. The food was great. Extensive wine list. The customer service was very pleasant. Ambiance was good. The atmosphere was good however, the seating was too close to each other. You almost cannot have a private conversation. The Decor was OK, nothing special. But overall, this is one of the better fine dinning experience in the area.
First visit. Attended a group dinner hosted in a private back room. Good service, well-crafted and prepared appetizers and entrees. Exceptional wine list, but not clear to me that it deserved a Wine Spectator award given the presentations, especially of a few of the whites.
We were so looking forward to Easter Sunday dinner at Domaine Hudson after several friends' recommendations. Service was great, food was good & creative but portion size was extremely disappointing. An entree order of leg of lamb with dumplings for $29 turned out to be mostly dumplings with pieces of lamb in a soup bowl. An order of fish, also for $29, showed up as barely 4 oz. it was tasty but I left hungry. There are many restaurants in Wilmington where you can dine on great food with greater value. I will not go back to this restaurant.
Service was the redeeming characteristic - waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. Noise level was awful - could not have a conversation with my husband without yelling. In short, this place was a huge let down. My husband and I enjoy bright and tasty dishes cooked with love, not precisely constructed plates lacking soul. Overall, the food was meh, especially considering the price. Many of the dishes could have benefited from a little salt and pepper, but there weren't any shakers on the tables. Visually, the dishes were amazing (which is the other reason this isn't a 1 star review), but the gigantic plates and tiny portions of under-seasoned or misconceived food were a huge disappointment. The martini and Manhattan drinks we ordered were great. The opening bread course had a lengthy description for the butter, but it was essentially just salty and sweet. The bread was tasty on its own. My apple and green salad was delicious, definitely a great start to the meal. However, my husband's scotch egg was mediocre - lacking in some basic seasoning. The gnocchi were light, fluffy, tasteless and grainy. Using the carrot tops for the gnocchi is a cute idea, but just didn't work well. The sauce and carrots with it were decent. My husband's agnolotti were delicious, but the broth had no flavor and the mushrooms/truffles seemed like a way to add something without bringing anything worthwhile. My fish of the day was great - although they missed removing some of the bones and it was an unwelcome surprise. My husband's rabbit was overcooked and bland. The desserts were awful. My pecan pie tasted like the bottom of a molasses barrel and had almost no pecan flavor because of the overpowering burnt molasses. My husband's chocolate ganache could have been reproduced with a Snack Pack and a bunch of chocolate-covered espresso beans. The photo below typifies the entire meal: over-large plate, over-done plating, over-small food, it will just leave you wanting more...of something else.
Food was good but not amazing, atmosphere is too loud to hear yourself, much less the person sitting with you, and then it's super expensive to boot. This place is all trend and not good enough food to justify the process and lack of food atmosphere. Not looking for a party scene with our dinner!
Went for my anniversary. Epic fail. The group next to us was so loud that we had to tell at exh other to be heard. Ecclectic food choices. Expensive menu for a terrible experience. Unfortunate.
We were disappointed in this restaurant. The service was excellent and the wine pairing superb but the flavors were absent or didn't mesh well in most of the dishes. We were also seated in the bar which lacks the charm of room .Overall a disappointment.
Food was good, the atmosphere was good and the hostess and bartender were nice. However, after being seated at our table it was downhill. It took a long time before our waitress realized we were at the table. Also, she didn't explain the menu well, which lead to my fiance' trying to order a pasta dish that turned out to only be an appetizer. She adjusted her order with a scallop entre, which we were told was of a medium size, but turned out to be smaller than the appetizer portion of her pasta dish. 3 scallops (1 large, 1 medium and 1 small) with a tablespoon of purple potato decoration. I tried the special (duck and lamb lollipops), which was good but not great, and way overpriced compared to other Wilmington restaurants such as Mikimotos, Walters and Cafe Mezzanotte. The wine list was good, but the "Artisan Beer' (read Craft brews) was a subset of many of the other places in Wilmington. Overall I felt disappointed leaving this place, which is the complete opposite reason of why we went there.
Let me first say that the food was good and the wait staff were friendly...but...it....was... so.....slooooow. We were there long enough for the parking meter to expire and we gave it an hour and a half. They decided to accomodate by giving us complimentary entrees; let me clarify. Instead of taking money off of the bill, they brought out additional plates of food. And it was stuff we don't like. They didn't even ask, it was awkward. It was like "hey, we have some extra pasta, give it to table 9; they've been waiting forever." Only, if we would've wanted it, we would've ordered that. Bad experience.
We've been in this restaurant 6 times since my first review. Each coming time the experiences were slowly but surely moving from amazing to great, to good, to not so good, to disappointing and finally the last visit was just plain awful. Lets talk about this awful one. FOOD: varied from very mediocre to tasteless and in case of beet soup (which was bland as baby food) and sweetbreads appetizer (which they probably forgot even to salt) just uneatable. DRINKS: my husband's cocktail was just OK, my Riesling was expansive and awful (with the weird aftertaste) + was ordered a 5 oz glass but what was received was 3 oz the max. Though we didn't fuss about it because after tasting it would be hard to prove the exact quantity poured before tasting and besides who needs more of unpleasant wine in anyway. SERVICE: The wait for the 1st course was 40 minutes after ordering, 2nd course wait was 20 minutes after we requested to talk to a manager and sent back these tasteless dishes it took 15 minutes to correct them and bring it back, between the second try was finished and the main course arrived took another 10 minutes, and we didn't even want to order desserts because it was time for us to take our medications and we had to head to the hotel. Yes, they were agree about the quality of the food and the slowest service we ever experienced, explaining that they were very busy (at 80% of capacity the most?!?! at the time of our visit). Yes they were "apologetic" about it and "even" brought a bread basket (which BTW was the only highlight of our dinner) and took some of the dishes off the check, but the evening was ruined in anyway and nothing was said to really convince us in their sincerity. BTW we observed the other tables while waiting for our food and noticed that the ONLY two tables which were served poorly were the tables served by our waitress. All the other tables were receiving at least timely service. So when we were leaving and passing by this 7 people party table (celebrating some event) they all were in total agreement with us and expressed it quite clear praising us for speaking out. So it's not just our opinion I am talking about but theirs too. Now the VALUE: which was quite good for the experiences we've had received in the past (maybe first 2 times) but as quality went down the prices went up and now it's just not worth it to spend this kind of money for all of the aggravation you can get. Needless to say this was our last time here and you decide for yourself, but we won't be surprised if in a little while this place will go out of business.
