Opinions de Max's Restaurant Woodside
Well, they got the recipe! Worcestershire sauce to go with their crispy fried chicken they are famous for! But, please less pork on your menu! After all, ur famous for the chicken not the Filipino pork based menu! I had to specially request my pancit without meat and pork broth ( they have a big pot of pork, chicken, beef broth altogether ).
The comfort and love that Max’s food provides. My family and I enjoyed the lumpia, garlic rice, pancit, sisig, crispy pata, ube shake, and halo halo.
So happy Max’s Restaurant is now open in Woodside, Queens, NY! 😍🤩 We had dinner last week of July 2022 to celebrate hubby’s bday. It was a weekday so we didn’t experience a long wait time. Great food! Tasty! Can’t even pick a favorite because everything was just delicious! Excellent customer service from the staff- they were very attentive and kept checking on our needs. Kudos and Thanks to Bianca, Jowett, and Kuya Oliver and to all the staff! 👍😊 For my hubby who’s the bday celebrant that day, just like the branch in Manila, Philippines, I requested for a simple surprise wherein staff would prepare a fun “happy birthday” song and they did so wonderfully amazing on this! They also gave him (the birthday celebrant) 1 free scoop of ice cream with candle on top. 😁 We’ll definitely return 😊
Great service, food quality is not cheap, unlike other restaurants, great for meet ups no noise. The escabeche sweet & sour fish fillet was excellent very authentic. Dessert buko pandan was the best I absolutely recommend. Food presentation and quality is 10/10🫶🏼 this place is a winner.
International comfort food chain Max’s finally comes to Queens’ own Little Manila neighborhood. I’ve tried it in the Philippines, and it’s every bit as good here! I ordered a whole fried chicken, halo halo, and Sago't Gulaman to-go. It was delicious and made me crave banana ketchup again!
The Philippines’ most famous fried chicken! No, I’m not talking about the Chickenjoy, rather, I’m talking about Max’s fried chicken! That’s right, this iconic restaurant has landed in Woodside Queens’ Little Manila Avenue and they are serving-up your favorite Filipino dishes. They got your pancit, lumpia, sisig, kare-kare, desserts and many more! Perhaps, the highlight of this restaurant is their fried chicken - fried to perfection then paired with your banana ketchup and Worcestershire sauce - will bring you back to your childhood. Come and experience this classic Filipino restaurant. The customer service is top-notch and the taste is similar to the recipe back home. I hope they maintain the quality and taste for years to come. Visit Max’s and bring your friends to this iconic Filipino restaurant!
Great tasting food just like their Their Jersey location. No complaints. Big fan of Bulalo so I mostly order that. The fried chicken with fries is great as well.

We had a wonderful experience in the homey atmosphere with friendly staff and delicious food. There are awesome vegetarian options too! Can’t wait to go back :) the calamansi juice was unique and refreshing.
I came sunday afternoon in this Max Restaurant branch in woodside..it was snowy chilly weather and really craving for hot soup and I ordered Bulalo with rice, and I was really amazed with the big serving of Bulalo in a big bowl.. ( sulit na sulit talaga sa presyo). And it's really a great serving with lots of beef and perfect taste.. and my server named Rowen is very nice, approachable and helpful attending to every client's needs. Im happy with everything..I will definitely come back again.. 😊this Restaurant is highly recommended 👍
Our son, his wife and little daughter visited us from London to spend Christmas with us. We brought them to Max’s here at Queens, last Friday for lunch. Of course, I had him taste my favorite Batangas Lomi and other lunch courses. The atmosphere is so relaxing with the excellent and warm service of your service staff MEI-SAN ( she is so good, I’m very impressed) and of course, the very Reliable and Friendly ALYSSA! Thank you for the very food, excellent service and delightful atmosphere. We love this Max’s Branch and very highly recommend it!
Earlier me and my mom went here and it's our first time eating filipino food. My coworkers recommended me this place and they told me to try the sinigang. And It was a wonderful experience to eat something authentic from other country. And thanks to the guy named jowett and rexy. They help me out with the menu I had a hard time what to order. They recommended the best seller which is the kare kare and the sinigang. Im definitely coming back again!

We got extraordinary excellent service from your Staff named ALYSSA, attended to us seeing that we were taken good care of. We were a company of 4 including our guests so our guests were very impressed with the great food and excellent service of ALYSSA. Thank you very much Max’s, Queens Branch!
The food was pretty good. Loved the Java fried rice and the halo halo. The serving sizes were good and the food good flavor. The downside is their vegetable menu section isn’t strictly vegetarian and a bit misleading - if you have dietary restrictions it is best to tell your waiter.
New Filipino spot in Queens! More accessible now than in Jersey! Must try if you are in Woodside! Location: It is located in Woodside, where all the Filipino restaurants are. The interior is quite small. The seatings from table to table is too crowded. Service: they are very nice. They greet you once you come in. I came on a Friday lunch, and its little bit busy, but we got seated right away. Food: Everything was good but not the chicken. Lol. MAX CHICKEN: we ordered whole fried chicken and it comes with french fries. The chicken is quite dry tho, maybe the way they fried it? DENCIO PORK SISIG: this was the best food here, I will come back to this restaurant just from their sisig, its crunchy and creamy at the same time! Definitely order sisig! LECHON KAWALI: another favorite, the skin is crunchy and the pork was soft and moist inside. I hope they have mang tomas with it tho. LAING: it is creamy but most of the leaves are still crunchy, so it needs more time on the pan, but they seasoned it well. SAGO’T GULAMAN: so refreshing and perfect amount of sweetness. GARLIC RICE: this is good too! Large order is 5 scoop of rice so just make sure you can finish the large. Lol Price rating: 6/10, it is not that bad for Filipino food. I will definitely come back here! Order PORK SISIG and LECHON KAWALI, both of them are the bomb!
We went there Monday afternoon and luckily its not that busy. We ordered sisig, pinakbet and chicharong bulaklak( which I’ve been craving for the longest 😅) as well as Halo-halo for dessert. It was a pleasant experience and will definitely recommend the chicharong bulaklak (really crispy-crunchy ) 👍

Mediocre, nothing special about the chicken with spicy chili powder. Their Kare-Kare veggies are good except for the meat is a bit chewy. The meat tripes would’ve been edible and easier to chew if it’s pressurized cooked. Otherwise would’ve been a good dish the peanut butter sauce a little sweet. The lechon kawali sisig I had is not the traditional sisig I was expecting. So much missing ingredients just fat fat fat. I like their pancit cause of the veggies crunchy.
Oh the anticipation for months, waiting for this to open. This actually used to be Rosario's Ihawan's spot which was one of our favorites in the area before. Finally came last Saturday late afternoon, thinking it might be better with the post peak lunch hour. The good: Nice redecoration of the space to make the vibe 'Max's' Krispy Sisig from Dencio's (didn't realize this was a thing and is part of the Max's menu now, wasn't before!) Kare Kare (but didn't come with Bagoong) Garlic rice was good and came in good portions Areas of opportunities (giving them a bit of grace since they've only been opened for a few weeks): Chaotic welcome (or non-welcome) process No other way to reserve except get there and attempt to be part of the list but no tables until 45 mins at least and not even guaranteed. Resorted to doing take out and btw they told us that they don't answer their phone number on the menu card ever so forget the number in the menu, you still need to show up and order and come back again to pick it up. The staff looks so stressed and unhappy and it was showing in their customer interactions. They barely acknowledge excited customers coming in to introduce the Max's brand. Pancit Canton was soooo bland, why? :( And painful as it is to say this, the fried chicken was sub par and wasn't up to the glorious Max's fried chicken taste that the brand is known for. How?! :( Overall 3.5 out of 5. Sincerely hope the owners and management takes the feedback seriously (feedback is a gift after all!) and works through all these. Hoping to come back and support again once they've hopefully improved. Also, attention to detail in everything, please. P.S The space is also obviously too small for a Max's. Consider expanding outside perhaps? Some potential for an outdoor space there. And please get on with a proper reservations program: Yelp, Open Table, Resy. Do yourselves and your customers a favor or it'll always be chaotic.
**Ambiance and Service:** My visit to Max's in Queens, amidst a serene snowstorm, offered a stark contrast to the bustling, multi-floored New Jersey counterpart, known for its vibrant Filipino community. The Queens location, a cozy single-room establishment, initially greeted me with an empty space, likely due to the weather conditions. However, as my meal progressed, more patrons began to trickle in, filling the room with a warmer atmosphere. The staff at Max's Queens truly shone with their friendliness and helpfulness. They went above and beyond, assisting me with directions, especially since the seven train was not operational that weekend. Their kindness was a beacon in the snowy weather, making me feel genuinely cared for. The server, a delightfully talented young individual, added to the homely vibe with beautiful singing, creating an ambiance that felt both comforting and unique. **Culinary Experience:** Despite the exceptional service, the culinary journey at Max's was underwhelming. I opted for the 'Sinigang ng Bangus' - a classic Filipino dish known for its tangy tamarind broth and rich flavors. Unfortunately, this rendition fell short of expectations. The fish served was disappointingly thin, small, and excessively bony, detracting significantly from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Moreover, the soup lacked the authentic tang of tamarind, tasting more like a pre-packaged mix one might find at a local store. This was a letdown, especially considering the homemade quality I've experienced in other restaurants and from family-prepared versions of the same dish. **Final Thoughts:** In summary, Max's in Queens excels in creating a welcoming and intimate atmosphere, greatly enhanced by their attentive and amiable staff. However, the culinary aspect was a letdown, particularly with their rendition of 'Sinigang ng Bangus'. While the food did not meet expectations, the phenomenal service and the rarity of Filipino cuisine options in New York City might compel me to revisit. I am inclined to give Max's another chance, perhaps to try their famed fried chicken, hoping to find a dish that aligns with the warmth and quality of their service.

Location is small as expected in a NYC neighborhood. Decor is just like home. There was a light in the middle of the restaurant that was above the ceiling fan so it was giving a blinking effect. Gave me and my bf a super bad headache and ruined ambiance. Thank goodness neither of us have epilepsy 🥲 Food was really disappointing 😢 the crispy pata was decent. Thankfully it wasn’t dripping in oil like other places. But the chicken they’re supposed to be famous for was so bad. Never tasted like that in other US locations. It tasted fishy like I could taste the cooler and everything that was inside the cooler. On top of that they gave us less than a handful of fries which were actually undercooked. Only giving 2 stars cause the staff was very friendly and the crispy pata wasn’t bad.
Do we just sit at any available table? We weren't greeted when we walked in while only 4 tables were occupied. While ordering the waiter seemed inebriated. She was just staring while we order, no response or any indication that she was listening. The plates they put on the table were DIRTY as well.

Very mediocre food. Squid, tentacles and tail overcooked; main body undercooked. Fried chicken, taste, fry, nothing special. After taking our order which are 5 dishes, our waiter came back to our table after a while asking if this is our first time and wanna try the sigsig, I found it strange, don’t u ask and suggest during the ordering?? Can’t get water or napkins refilled Floor super greasy and slippery

I am writing to provide feedback on my dining experience at your establishment on Monday, August 25th. My party and I arrived at approximately 12:00 PM. While the overall experience was somewhat marred by inconsistent service, I feel it's important to highlight both the positive and negative aspects of our visit. One waitress displayed a noticeable lack of enthusiasm and professionalism. Her demeanor was unfriendly, she lacked a welcoming smile, and she incorrectly stated that the restaurant was not yet open despite the time. This created a somewhat negative first impression and impacted our initial enjoyment. However, I must also commend the attentiveness and pleasant disposition of another waitress who served us later. Her friendly and accommodating service significantly improved our experience and provided a stark contrast to the earlier interaction. The inconsistency in service quality is a concern. While one member of your team provided exemplary service, another's behavior fell far short of expectations for a dining establishment. I believe addressing this disparity in staff demeanor would enhance the overall customer experience. While I enjoyed the food, I'm hesitant to return due to the initial negative interaction. I hope you will take my feedback constructively and address these issues moving forward.
