The galbi are thick but sooo tender. The juice that comes out? You don’t get cuts like these any where but here! The other cuts here were skirt steak, ribeye, and the thinly cut briskets. Every thing was so fresh and tender, AND the servers do all the work so that you can enjoy your company!! Highly recommend :D

A Culinary Gem That Delivers More Than Just Flavor – SIKGAEK From the moment you walk into SIKGAEK, you’re transported—not just into a Korean dining experience, but into a celebration of bold, authentic flavors and warm, communal energy. Whether you’re a seasoned Korean food enthusiast or a first-time explorer, SIKGAEK makes every guest feel like part of the family. We started with the Seafood Pancake (Haemul Pajeon)—crispy on the outside, tender and brimming with fresh scallions and squid. A perfect start, especially when paired with their house-made dipping sauce. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the live octopus (Sannakji) and BBQ Pork Belly (Samgyeopsal), cooked tableside with theatrical flair and precision. Watching the staff expertly grill the meat while guiding us through the proper lettuce wrap technique elevated the experience from great to unforgettable. But SIKGAEK isn’t just about the food. It’s the atmosphere—the laughter from neighboring tables, the sizzling sounds from tabletop grills, the clink of soju glasses—that makes the whole experience feel like a night out in Seoul. The service was fast, attentive, and genuinely kind. They made sure every dish came out perfectly timed and offered recommendations that proved to be spot-on. If you’re looking for an experience that blends tradition, fun, and flavor, SIKGAEK is a must-visit. Come hungry, bring friends, and be ready for a memorable culinary adventure. Five stars, without hesitation.

If I had to sum up my experience here using one word I’d have to use the word Amazing! This restaurant simply serves excellent food. 🥘 I had great customer service here as well. The waitress checked in with us numerous times to make sure that we were having a positive experience. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful as well. Lastly the environment was very welcoming. I got to eat great food while listening to some of my favorite K-pop groups like Twice and New Jeans. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I would definitely give this restaurant 10 stars ⭐️ if I could.

individual meal menu is great! the appetizers are alright & the korean bbq is better quality meat than an unlimited kbbq restaurant. i like the privacy of the booths & the staff are friendly and attentive. the young female waitress there is always super kind and lovely! overall great place to enjoy a simple meal (dining in or take out) on a weekday or a place to gather with friends and family. :) def the best authentic korean spot here in sunnyside.

You can come for other dishes, but you will be missing out if you don't order the seafood hotpot! For $100 it's definitely worth every penny + they will cut and sever all the seafood for you so you don't have to!

SO DELICIOUS! One of the best meals I’ve had in recent memory. We went on a Friday night and ate a lot of BBQ & drank the big watermelon cocktail (in an actual watermelon!). Staff is very friendly and the environment is fun. Highly recommended! Great place to bring out of towners, too.

It’s been quite a while since my last visit, but stepping back into this spot wasn’t an easy one. The restaurant has undergone some notable changes, especially in the menu and overall ambiance. While it still holds on to that small-town, homey charm, it provides more welcome vibe. What really stands out is how the atmosphere walks the line between comfort and authenticity. Soft lighting, subtle textures, and old time finishes. The main dishes were surprisingly good without adding excessive MSG although side dishes were sub par. In all, it’s still a place I would like to revisit in spite of my issue with the name of the restaurant: Sikgaek, which is literally interpreted as “a dinner guest.” The actual meaning is something different. In old days, dinner guests mean a person or a stranger unexpectedly shows up at dinner time. In my memories, they were mostly vagrants. Having said, the owner must’ve grown up in a big city unlike myself who is from a tiny village in Korea where people often faced famine especially during the springtime. Sad and it gives me heebie-jeebies.

Have been coming here for decades but it has been a while since I’ve been there recently. Pleasantly surprised by the new menu. The spicy chicken and nengmyun (cold noodles) were delicious. So were the ban chan. Really solid Korean food, especially for the area. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Service is terrific. Highly recommend!

Great environment, great service, amazing food! SOJU BOMBS were awesome! Rice wine and plum wine went well with our seafood steampot. The best meat I've had in a while! Very generous with the sauce as well. Had a great time visiting my family, this was a great choice for the night. We all just wish there less clams and more crabs and shrimps!!!

We were in the area and craving some Kbbq when we found this restaurant and let me tell you it was so good! The atmosphere was great, as well as the service. They are so welcoming and helpful, in fact when dealing with the grill, they put some onions closer to my mother so that she could grab it easier when they saw her struggling. In addition, they do tell you when the kitchen is closing and if you want any last minute meals before it does. Overall, it was a great restaurant to go to and I highly recommend 🙌

So I was in the area and found this spot! I am a huge korean food fan! So I went inside and decided to try it. I do want to say that their bbq and plates seem a little big for one person, ! My plate was huge ! Staff were nice and attentive. I really enjoyed my food and their kimchi was on point! Price wise it is a little expensive but like I said my plate was huge so am not complaining because it is deff worth it! Will be coming back and bringing my family. I can't remember what my plate was called but everything was fresh ! Omg the crabs that came with it were so meaty the clams were delicious and the squid itself melted in my mouth!

Easy to park near. The place is nice and cozy. We were lost in another galaxy how fun the experience was with tasting. Food is really good and amazing we had a drink serve in watermelon, Korean pancakes, octupus meatball, the noodle appetizers, the beef grilled, with several sides, the seafood in a tiny bit spicy broth. Serving was fast, the waiter was nice and helpful with food, especially if you don't street food or traditional dishes. I like Korean food and use to go in Korean st in a city, this is another level. 🙌💯

We had an amazing meal with La Kalbi, Fried Calamari, and Gopchang Jjigae — all flavorful and perfectly cooked. The kalbi was tender and rich, the calamari crispy and light, and the jjigae was spicy and comforting. Our sever daina was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Highly recommend!

I know the beef fried rice doesnt look the best .. especially in a takeout container but it was very flavorful and delish! Throw some kimchi n radish in there!! Their kimchi is good, but their radish is crack The oxtail soup was also delish.. personally i like the oxtail soup very bland but they do add salt/pepper on the side if you want to make it salty Def will order again.. and will def visit the store for the bbq

If you’re craving an authentic Korean BBQ experience in Queens, this Sunnyside spot is an absolute must-visit. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere transported us straight to Seoul. Our server, Diana, was a standout — attentive, friendly, and impressively detail-oriented. It’s rare these days to have someone who remembers the little things that make a meal feel special, but she did just that. The food was fantastic across the board. One highlight: the handmade dumplings — light, puffy, and almost reminiscent of a Korean take on empanadas. They alone are worth coming back for. As for the BBQ itself — the meats are prime quality and it shows. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly marbled, they’re a cut above what you’ll find at the typical all-you-can-eat spots. Every bite reinforced that this place values quality over quantity, and the difference is worth every penny. All in all, a top-tier Korean BBQ experience in Queens. Can’t wait to return.

This is my favorite place I always go for Korean food. It's been four years since I came here and Their service and quantity are really worth going all the way there to eat. the people work there, especially the two men and one woman were very nice!! I usually get Steamed monkfish but this time I got the Big steamed seafood It was really good and healthy and they gave so much that I could have eaten two more at home. Even though we were so full, it was so delicious that we had to eat the udon and fried rice too. haha. I can’t wait to go back again soon !

I used to live on Skillman Ave and had been going to Sik Gaek for the past 10 years. Now I’ve moved to Brooklyn, and I still order from them, that’s how good the food is! Everything is always delicious, and we love it so much. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy the full experience again.

Unbelievable Korean food experience. Especially during covid I feel very safe. And the food... the FOOD! Eating at a table with one person who doesn’t eat meant and one who doesn’t eat shellfish. They are both eating everything because it’s so good. Literally everything on the menu is amazing. The service has been perfect every time I’ve been here over the years. Lychee soju is a must try.

Been here a couple times, the service is good and fast but slows down closer to when you’re getting the check. Which is fine, not worth detracting a star over, especially since they have buttons to let the staff know you want something. The food is good and the portions are large. I really enjoy getting food here—dine in or carry out.

This place is a solid spot for Korean BBQ, especially if you like marinated short ribs. 😍The galbi was tender, flavorful, and grilled perfectly without being overly sweet. I visited this place expecting good marinated galbi, but it honestly exceeded my expectations. The meat was tender and well-marinated, with a deep, slightly sweet flavor that didn’t taste artificial or overpowering. It grilled evenly and stayed juicy all the way through. You could really taste the balance of soy sauce, garlic, and natural meat flavor. Portions were satisfying, and it paired perfectly with rice. Definitely a spot I’d come back to when craving real Korean BBQ.

Great place to dine. Food is very good and service is great. Food was cooked properly. All dishes were awesome. The pork belly and the marinated short ribs is delicious. Korean bbq is legit here. You need to order atleast 2 orders of meats in order to cook at your table. Great restaurant highly recommended. Tables hold up to six people. Drinks are good here. We eat Korean boq a lot so I think we have pretty high standards. Sik Gaek was so amazing! It wasn't all you can eat but the quality of the food really came through. All the meat cuts we had were great but our favorite is always marinated kalbi. The starter salad was also a favorite. It's a fun ambiance for family dinner (a little noisy with the kpop music) but they were very nice and turned down the volume upon request. They cook the meat for you. The service was very attentive and kind! Mike was super helpful and taught us the Korean ways of preparing the lettuce wrap or to combine the meat with daikon. I can't wait to come back!

Super nice Korean Restaurant! I live far from the city and accompany a family member for their classes close to this place. We found it to be a good Korean restaurant for our first experience. The staff was very friendly, asking if we needed anything and letting us know they're here if we needed anything! The food like the corn cheese was sweet but delicious! (Sadly, we didn't take many pictures) Me and my aunt are definitely going back though ❤️

Just had an incredible dining experience at Sikgaek—and honestly, it’s now one of my favorite Korean BBQ spots in NYC!🔥 Located in Woodside, just minutes from Manhattan, this cozy gem has been serving up authentic Korean flavors since 2010. They’ve recently refreshed their menu (seafood is out, more K-BBQ goodness is in!) and the space is beautifully decorated with warm vibes and super friendly staff.✨ We went all in with the Sikgaek Prime Combo—featuring Prime Short Rib, Prime Ribeye, and Prime Brisket. The meats were so tender and flavorful, and the best part? The staff grills it all right at your table, so you can sit back and enjoy every sizzling bite.

Visiting after long time here. The outdoor seating was bit disturbing due to train tracks. However food was good. Tried beef intestine for first time here but didnt like it at all. It was bitter and didnt like the taste as well. But fried rice, kinchi jigae and budae jigae were awesome. Wanted to try their watermelon soju but they were out of it so tried lychee soju which was good. Server was attentive.

This place used to have the seafood pot but is no longer available under new management. Check menu before going, a lot of changes to the menu. The food was good, however, they upsold item without clearly communicating that its additional upcharge. We got one of the hotpot, we were full and said so, and the staff helping said there is fried rice after (without mention of extra charge per serving) and that they can package the leftover. hotpot was approx $50 and fried rice $12 for (2 servings). We had already said we were full, but staff said we should wait to get the fried rice and they were gonna pack the leftover soup. The staff should have clearly communicated it’s an additional charge and asked how many servings we’d like to have, etc of what options so customers can make decisions that’s best. When we got the bill, the up charge wasn’t a lot but being that: 1. Customer/buyer wasn’t on notice about the additional cost (no where on menu I saw regarding this either) + 2. time exhausted (we were hurry), we didn’t leave with good impression. Food was decent and we paid 20% tip but not sure if we will go back. For note I came here before and also deliver food from here, but did notice last time delivery, portion was smaller than before, and different taste. Again, I want to emphasize that the food and service was fine except for the non-transparent upcharge.

I have now had the BBQ for lunch eat in, and the lunch special takeout. Good food—but never cheap. My takeout lunch was a combo of Kimchi jjigae and Spicy squid: as pictured. Ten years ago this might have been $16. Today it’s $26. Portions are conservative. It’s probably just the nature of today’s economy. The quality is high. Premium fresh ingredients are well-prepared. Big, fresh ginger, garlic & chili flavors abound.

Sik Geek BBQ Restaurant is hands down one of the finest Korean BBQ spots I’ve visited to date. Service: Exceptional. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our dining experience. 5/5 Atmosphere: Cozy yet vibrant—authentically Korean and thoughtfully arranged. A great place to enjoy a laid-back meal or a fun gathering with friends. 5/5 Food Highlights: • Crispy Calamari: A personal favorite of mine and a dish I always try if it’s on the menu. Sik Geik did not disappoint—the calamari was well-cooked and paired wonderfully with the accompanying sauce. 4/5 • Seafood Pancake: A hearty fusion of various seafoods enveloped in a crisp pancake. Best enjoyed hot. 4/5 • Pork Combo BBQ: Arguably one of the best BBQ experiences I’ve had. The meat was flavorful and perfectly grilled. The combo came with a delicious soybean stew—rich in flavor with tofu, zucchini, and the right blend of spices. The assortment of side dishes complemented the meal beautifully. Overall: An excellent spot to enjoy authentic Korean BBQ with quality food and top-notch service. I would absolutely recommend making a reservation in advance, as this place tends to fill up quickly.

Looks like a very interesting authentic Korean Restaurant. The price stopped me from entering. I know Korean food can be pricey but this place has the price of Manhattan Korean Restaurants. I was expecting Queens price so I stopped by after a recommendation from friends. Looks like a nice place.

Service and atmosphere was great. Food was honestly not great at all… we’ve been here a few times but management seeemed to have changed. Would not recommend a few things, yuk geon was super pricey for 4pcs, plus it felt like it was premade and microwaved… Seafood cream udon was horrible. The seafood was undercooked. The whole dish itself tasted like milk that was slightly warmed up… no taste at all. Honestly super shocked how it tasted for the price… Had bbq only in the past. Would still check out the place, has a great Korean vibe

This is a fantastic local spot that stays open late, offering a variety of Korean dishes. The marinated galbi is flavorful, and the spicy stir-fried squid is a solid choice. For the adventurous, they even serve live octopus--yes, raw with still-moving tentacles! It's a unique experience and a decent option for late-night bites.

H
H T

We ordered the braised seafood stew. The portion was huge, but mainly consisted of a monstrous squid and some octopus. It would have been better if it came with a well proportioned variety of shrimp , clams, and muscles. This might be a better place to come with a larger group so each person can try different dishes. We left feeling completely "squided out."

L
Lisa Kim

Staff and atmosphere were great. I saw great reviews about this place and came here but it was just mediocre... it’s very unfortunate. We got seafood hotpot and shared with four people. We also got the live octopus as appetizer. The quality was not so fresh. Unfortunately I won’t come back here.

V

I used to frequent this spot for years. I realize COVID times have shifted the business quite a bit. They recently moved to a new menu from what it was originally known for (seafood pots, butter squid, etc ) that left me disappointed. New menu isn’t bad but pricey. Service is always great and vibe is good- I just miss the old menu.

The atmosphere of the location was typical with regular tables and tables for grilling. Clean and service was good and friendly. The downside was the food. We ordered the Japchae that had overcooked noodles and had so much black pepper in it that we both coughed trying to eat each bite. It became inedible. The boneless short rib was very chewy, came in huge chunks, and not a good value for the price. The tofu soup came out with a broth that was tasteless. The tofu was not soft, not firm, but outright hard. For the money, the food was a complete let down.

The food itself was good—especially the cold noodles—but the service left me unsure if the experience was intentional or just inattentive. A large portion of the meat was burned, and when I mentioned it, I was told I could flip and move the meat myself. I wasn’t given tools or guidance on how to handle the large uncut pieces, so that was frustrating. About a third of the meal ended up overcooked. I’ll give this place one more try, but if the service doesn’t improve, I’ll likely stick with spots in Flushing or K-town where I’ve consistently had better experiences. A simple acknowledgment like, “Sorry, I was busy at another table,” would have gone a long way.

I was there on a weekend date - we chose the couple’s grill and it was over $150 with tax and tips. We left not full and I think it wasn’t enough for two who can eat. Service was good even though the host was running around like a headless chicken, busy and overwhelmed. Our server was nice but very quiet- I would expect her to br a bit more explaining since it was our first Korean BBQ. Overall good experience for the first time but wont be back for BBQ.

Extremely disappointed. Ordered the Sea food pot for $99. Even though the presentation was eye catching, the seafood tasted old and rubbery. I would not recommend.

This place is a ripoff. For $15 they gave me 2 thin slices of beef and soup. Literally I could have made this by dumping powder into water and it would have been the same thing.

I delivered the food and the cabbage was sooooooo look bad. How they use this kind of vegetables. Apparently it has been at least a week in the fridge. Should cut off it.

I went there last Sunday with a group of 8 people. When I called to make a reservation, they told me that the kitchen closes at 9:30. We had other plans before and it might be a little tight, so i called the restaurant that we will be there either on time or a few minutes early or late. They told me that the kitchen will close 9:30 on time. We rushed to be there and made it on 9:27. I didn't even sit down and started to order a bunch. The server's attitude was something intolerable, super disrespectful and rude. She game me so much grief about not coming sooner, we had to work and went bowling for our staff holiday party, I explained. Then she said we should have got an uber. I said yes we did but since it is Queens, uber took a while to pick 8 people up. Then she told me "You should have gotten a Korean cab". While she was taking orders, she called my staff who came with me, which means her customers "These kids can eat spicy food?" I told her right away not to call my staff and your customer that way. The food was ok and I wouldn't write a bad review even though the food wasn't great. The real problem is the server. I will never go there again. It was such an unpleasant experience.

Ordered delivery from them. Samgyupsal 삼겹살 was $30 and this is the portion size we got. Thin, sad slices of pork. Unbelievable. Called the restaurant to make sure there wasn’t a problem with the order (we were thinking maybe they had made a mistake), but the store staff matter-of-factly insisted “this was it,” without engaging in the issue with us. Easy to think they must get similar calls often. Stay away.

Came in on what looked like a slow Monday afternoon -- only one other table was occupied in the whole restaurant. We ordered a few dishes, and honestly, everything was pretty mid. Portion sizes were decent, but that didn't make up for the lack of flavor. We didn't even bother trying the KBBQ grill because the prices were ridiculous -- over $90 for just three types of meat? For that price, you could get all-you-can-eat KBBQ elsewhere. Makes no sense. It almost feels like good service is reserved for the people who spend big on their overpriced meats, just because that means a bigger tip. But honestly, even if the food had been good, it still wouldn't have made up for the poor service. The side dishes were very stale. Dressing on the salad was gross. Kimchee stew was decent (can't go wrong with that), Bulgogi was dry. Our server, Mike, took our order and then vanished. I'm not exaggerating -- we saw him chilling in the back, fully tuned into his computer screen, smiling and laughing. Just because it's a slow day doesn't mean you get to check out completely. Meanwhile, the couple next to us -- who did order the grill -- were getting great service. Maybe it's because they spent more, or maybe Mike just didn't vibe with us for whatever reason. Either way, it was noticeable. As a paying customer, I'm not just here to eat -- I'm here to dine in. That includes being taken care of. I might as well have done takeout. I had to literally wave Mike down just to get the check and boxes -- something that should have been offered without asking. And when he finally brought the boxes, he didn't even include a bag. How am I supposed to carry four containers on the train? Does it look like I've got four hands? I can't imagine what service is like when the place is actually busy. Mike seemed totally checked out, and it definitely impacted the overall experience. And when the service is bad, it makes the food taste even worse. After reading several past reviews of this restaurant, it seems that the issue of servers disappearing mid-service has happened before. It’s starting to feel less like a coincidence and more like a pattern that could be rooted in underlying discrimination. Long story short, Mike needs to seriously improve by doing the basics of his job -- checking in, being present, and treating all customers like they matter, regardless of how much they spend.

we were 4 persons a little bit late in night. We get a table and we ordered some meat for grill as we were instructed by the waiter. The cuts are very cheap and the waiter did not explain to us how to eat them. The waiter was more absent and away from the table even we were the only clients. The meat was overcooked. Bottom line, AVOID!

Tried the take out of two different dishes and thoroughly disappointed that there won’t be no third time. Food quality is reasonable while the parking situation and service will require immediate and drastic improvement. Twice, I asked and was replied a chopstick is provided that proved them wrong both times. In fact, nothing other than food not even a napkin. I called in advance to place the order for takeout only to be told the food is yet to be prepared, not good and very upsetting!!!

Ordered cold noodles via DoorDash and it came without the broth. We put water in it, and it is so bland. I won’t order it from here again. Please avoid.

Visited during the holidays in December with a group of 8 friends visiting from out of state. We arrived around 10 PM (restaurant closes at 1 AM), sober and respectful. Unfortunately, the service was hostile from the start. We were seated next to the kitchen, where there is a glass window facing our table. At one point, our server placed his phone directly against the glass with the camera facing us. From our perspective, it appeared we were being recorded. When asked about it, he denied recording and said “my boss was fixing something,” yet left the phone there without a clear explanation. A simple gesture like removing the phone upon request would have resolved the issue when your customers are uncomfortable. A few minutes later, after my boyfriend jokingly posed for the camera for two seconds, the server came out and told him, “You’re not a kid anymore. Act your age.” This was confusing and inappropriate, especially if he truly was not watching or recording. When we asked to speak to a manager, he then claimed he himself was the manager, contradicting his earlier statement of his boss being there. He also refused to give his name, saying it was none of our business. The food was mediocre for the price, but the service is what truly ruined the experience. One of our visiting friends calmly tried to explain why we felt uncomfortable, and the server was openly rude to him as well. After we left a lower tip due to the service, the server made a final, inappropriate comment: “Where are you guys from? Vietnamese, right?” said in a condescending tone. This was unnecessary and felt discriminatory, especially when we were all racially Asian. I started recording the event as evidence in case things went worse. We were polite throughout the entire visit and were not drunk (eight of us shared one soju since it was late). I even apologized to him for having to work during the holidays and was met with a hostile stare. I brought friends here hoping to share a place I once enjoyed, but instead our holiday night was ruined by unprofessional and disrespectful service. Never have I been treated so poorly as such being a paying customer in NYC, especially on the holidays.

Had high expectations from all the good reviews. However, quality of the food and the service are simply not up to standard. Such a disappointing experience. Nothing in this restaurant worth your money. I do not recommend this place at all. You can find better quality and price Korean restaurants in Queens.

Extremely disappointing order through Uber Eats. The meat was extremely dry and burnt…quality and quantity both poor. My naengmyun felt like it was pre-prepared because the noodle came in a block, and there were no noodle soup. Would advise anyone from ordering from here.
