Decided to hit El Techo for brunch on Saturday. Reservations were set for 1 pm for 10 guests. After several friends flaked, our party only ended up consisting of 3. They were flexible with us, and we were still able to keep our reservation. Initially, we were seated in the rear of the restaurant. However, we weren't happy with those seats, so we asked to be seated elsewhere, and they obliged. The restaurant was nice and well decorated. The food was DELICIOUS. I and one of my friends ordered birria tacos(which were cooked perfectly) , and the last friend ordered the breakfast nachos. Everything was great, and the food came out quickly. We got bottomless drinks. We mostly stuck with the mangos margaritas. They were good af. 10s across the board for the service as well. They started to get busier after 1:30. El Techo's has a brunch deal for 55$ on Saturday. Brunch is available until 4, which is an hour later than most, but they only give you 1 and a half hours for bottomless. My only complaint is that the "grass wall" kept getting caught in our hair. Aside from that, I have no issue with this place, I'll definitely be going back, but on Sunday next time because the brunch deal is 6 dollars cheaper! I'm including pictures of the menu.
Either brunch or lunch or dinner el techo well serve you the best I’ve been to the restaurant for all three and I was amazed with every meal I’ve ordered and I advice you to visit then the atmosphere is amazing the staff is very supportive over all the full experiences were amazing.
I was trying to book a holiday party in DC in October… for my company. So i already knew I was in trouble. Louie was fantastic. He was very responsive and helped work out a great menu that worked with our budget. The space was beautiful, the team loved the food and the staff was stellar. I’ve already heard that it was the best holiday party venue we’ve ever done. 10/10 not a thing we’d change. Thank you El Techo!
This past weekend was the second time visiting El Techo. First time was for brunch, our party of four opted for the bottomless mimosas & the buffet. The food was amazing and the staff was even better. Our waiter went out of his way to ensure we understand how everything worked and truly made the experience even better. That’s what made us visit a second time, for dinner. We are sold and will 100% make it a point to drop in every time we are in the DC area. The staff was so attentive and even the owner stopped by our table multiple times throughout the night the make sure we were taken care of throughout our time spent. The mini chimis and carne asada bowls were to DIE for!! The music, live DJ, the atmosphere was 10/10. The selection behind the bar was nicely stocked. I genuinely recommend this establishment to anyone native or visiting the area!! If I would rate 10 stars if possible!
El Techo – 5 Stars! El Techo hosted my wife’s birthday party, and it was absolutely fantastic! Louie and the entire staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The food was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented—and the rooftop atmosphere made the celebration feel extra special. What really stood out was the service: warm, attentive, and effortless. You could feel that everyone genuinely cared about making the evening perfect. The team handled every detail with professionalism and kindness, which made all the difference. Beyond the amazing food and service, the story behind El Techo is truly inspiring. Knowing it started as a food truck and has grown into one of DC’s best rooftop dining spots speaks volumes about their passion and hard work. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you, Louie and the El Techo team, for helping make such a memorable and joyful celebration! #ElTechoDC #RooftopDining #WashingtonDC #DCFoodie #BirthdayDinner #RooftopVibes #LatinFlavors #DCBrunch #FoodTruckToRestaurant #DCNightlife #LoganCircleEats #DCRooftops
We held our baby shower at El Techo for 45 people, and it was absolutely fantastic!! The staff and the owner were extremely attentive and flexible with what we envisioned and the space was absolutely perfect. The food is phenomenal and it’s a great price point too, so I’d recommend to anyone to have an event here!
El techo was absolutely amazing. Could not recommend more. We got there when they first opened and the atmosphere was still insanely good. Food, service, atmosphere, drinks, AMAZING. Louis (the owner) greeted us and interacted with every customer there. He was awesome. If you’re looking for brunch/good drinks/food or just a good time, GO TO EL TECHO!!
Fun lively techno dance vibe on a rooftop. Friendly service, including check-ins from the owner. On the rooftop on a warm summer day - it’s perfect. Solo visit on a Saturday evening and luckily got a seat right away at the bar open air window. But make a reservation if you want seating. It was all booked
Had a birthday for one of my closest friends last night. The El Techo team held our cake, added the candles, and took every other step, down to the smallest details, in ensuring we had the best event imaginable. Super special shoutout to Cheyanne. Whenever we needed anything she was in arms reach, doing the absolute most in making sure we were happy. Definitely returning thanks to her. You don’t get service like this anywhere. Thank you, everyone!
Went on a Saturday night in between brunch and dinner hours to a nice mixed crowd. Nice covered rooftop with a DJ spinning a mix of afrobeats, Latin, and other music. The bartender Angelo was super attentive and cool to chat with. Great vibes. I tried the carne asada bowl and it hit the spot.
If there was an option to give more than 5 stars I would! My Boyfriend & I visited El Techo and our waiter Ezekiel was very welcoming & very attentive! Live music & AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD. The Atmosphere was very colorful & BEAUTIFUL! The hour drive was worth every second here! No disappointments! Book your reservations ASAP! Thank you Ezekiel! We’ll be back!
First time visiting this place and definitely not the LAST time. From the hospitality to the fresh food, to the strong delicious bottomless drinks and prompt service I was HIGHLY impressed. They accommodated 15 people at the last minute during Howard Homecoming! Destiny the host was amazing and our waitstaff Aslin was phenomenal and bubbly, and was very attentive. Francesca also was a wonderful waitstaff and kept checking in on us. Shout out to the manager of this establishment because everyone was singing the same song and delivered exceptionally!!!!

Wow. I am well traveled, and well fed, but place was outstanding. Fun atmosphere and great food. It’s absolutely worth hunting for a parking place.

I want to give a shout out to Shawn, the security guy for his hospitality. My friend and I were visiting from Atlanta, and we felt like we met a brother. Oh, the food and service were good too.
Great atmosphere, good food and beverages as you enjoy your meal you are also enjoying the music in the back ground

I’ve been here a few times. It’s a fun spot if you want a night out but it’s not a great spot for a chill night. The music blasts loud all the time, if you’re close to the speakers, you have to yell across the table to the person you’re with. I will say they have a great happy hour. Cheap drinks and food. I love their chicken tacos from the happy hour menu.
I had an incredible experience at El Techo. The rooftop ambiance is amazing, offering interesting views of the city that make it a perfect spot for both relaxing and socializing. The food was outstanding—each dish was flavorful and fresh. The tacos and ceviche were especially delicious, and the cocktails were well-crafted and refreshing. The service was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. If you're looking for a great place to unwind with good food, drinks, and views, El Techo is definitely the place to go!
The food at this restaurant was amazing, there were no Togo bags taken. The space is very small though, and I really didn’t enjoy the techno music, I was expecting Latin music since the atmosphere was giving Latin heritage. But nonetheless the food was great, I had the lamb braised tacos, it was delicious. And my friend enjoyed her steak and eggs. We bought a pitcher of mimosas which was good for the two of us . I really enjoyed the food.
The carne asada bowl is fine and a decent delivery option. The portion size was a little small for me but the content was fine.

2 points. It’s a vibe. Terrible service. Ill start of this place offers a cool Latin vibe with really good food. The best nachos I’ve had in all of DC and the atmosphere is so cool. However, the staff, especially the hostess was rude, the place was not even busy but they didn’t take our order until 10 mins after we sat down. The basket of nachos came at the same time as all our food. We didn’t eat anything until 20 mins since we came in. There is also a 5% charge added to your food to deal with the DC initiative. An entree is like $20, but a cocktail is like $15. Overall, a really cool experience but I just didn’t like the service.
Cool place but not good for gluten free. The $6.49 gluten free shrimp taco didn’t come with anything on it - just 2 bare shrimp on a corn tortilla. Found out afterwards my cousin who I was with ordered the same, and hers came dressed. Server didn’t know anything about allergens but fetched a manager who was knowledgeable. Super fun atmosphere and the staff were attentive and nice. Would go back for drinks!

decent rooftop thats pretty well covered, nice margarita specials, DJs, good vibe when the weather is nice
Service was alright. It was pretty expensive, but decent food. The restaurant is so beautiful and fun!
Let me start by saying that the food was amazing! Despite the waitress failing to let us know the sauce that comes on the taco is spicy. The drinks we had were good. I originally ordered the pina colada as my second alcoholic drink but as i took a sip i found it to be nasty with whatever spiced rum that they put in it, the service was beyond slow and when we finally got our waitress’s attention she seemed to have an attitude to take the drink back. It was BEYOND hot in this establishment and the bathrooms were even worse with heat. We were sweating and fanning ourselves off in this place which is a no go especially in the summer…there should be adequate A/C. You also have to pass the area with urinals out in the open to get to the actual bathrooms. Even though the place was already hot, it started to get more crowded and they struggled to accommodate a huge party who came in and couldnt even sit with each other…at this point it felt like the air was so thick and you couldnt breathe. My friends and i decided to leave but still had to wait a long time for the waitress to come back over to us and initially had an issue to split the bill. Another thing we noted was that when the servers came with the food, they were standing around with the hot plates trying to figure out what table or who it was for and the waitress did not help them when they should have taken control of the situation and guided the server with the plate since they know who ordered what. I think more training needs to occur and there should be a manager on shift to help run things smoothly, it was beyond disorganized.
I came here a couple of years ago and the brunch was pretty decent. This time it was horrendous. They offer a buffet now and changed the previous menu. Everything at the buffet looked dry and nothing on the menu was appetizing. So, we opted to do bottomless margs. The bottomless margs were tasty, but flavor options were limited to watermelon, mango and regular. So we rotated between the 3 flavors & they were strong. The decor here is beautiful and the dj played the jams. But to be honest this place was empty. Probably because the menu was severely lacking. My friend ordered the trio (guac, salsa and cheese dip) and it’s was ok. For 3 bottomless drinks, a trio and a round of shots cost $283. They are very overpriced. They add a mandatory 20% gratuity to your total. Our server was amazing. But, the bartender Austin was very interesting and unprofessional to say the least… very rude and unwelcoming. His behavior was not acceptable. Good thing we were pretty much done when we had to interact with him. Just an unpleasant experience with him.
I found El Techo on Instagram and was very excited to check it out. Before I get into my experience, I do want to say that the food was phenomenal, and the mojito that I ordered was great! The deco…
