Godzila Sushi is a Godzilla-themed sushi restaurant loved for its friendly staff and generous nigiri. The Godzilla roll is a must-try. Some find the quality inconsistent, especially since the ownership change, and the miso soup bland.

Very few cooked options, all about the sushi here! I've lived everything I've ever had, even though I have a set order every time. I've been going here for over 16 years and I love it!
Awesome sushi, and reasonable prices for the amount of food that you get. Even the salad had a great flavor. Definitely going again.
Very good sushi with lots of cool Godzilla decorations around, including fun drawings from previous customers. Definitely a new favorite sushi joint.
Sushi was excellent & fresh and used real crab. Service was great and the guys there was very friendly. We'll be coming back!
Great sushi! Slow pub environment with drawings and paintings on the walls. No elaborate changing menus, just good food, wasabi, and ginger.
Was sold on the name and wasn't disappointed. Service was excellent and we didn't have to wait long for our food. The sushi was delicious and reasonably priced. Loved the interior of the restaurant and you can even buy a t-shirt which I did. Would definitely go back!
We went for lunch on a Tuesday. Great service (quick to seat and give us menus/water, polite, and prompt clearing of dishes). The spider rolls were very delicious with generous portions of crab which were freshly fried.
The food is always fresh and always absolutely delicious! Everyone who works there is so nice and helpful. Godzilla is truly a gem in the neighborhood and I’m so glad that I they’ve made it to this side of the pandemic.
My wife & I figured out this place 3 years ago during our honey moon. Definitly the best Sushi and maki ever tasted. I even bought a t-shirt of the restaurant but unfortunately I lost it. How could I get a new one (I live in France)?
So so so good. The miso soup and mochi were especially outstanding. The food was amazing, service fast and nice. Really great experience. We went as a family of 4 for a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised and pleased. The miso soup. They even gave us miso soup on the house!
If you're looking for fancy, high end sushi then this isn't for you. If you want fresh, great tasting reasonably priced sushi then Godzilla is your place. Always fresh and great for a casual dinner out
Good sushi, great Godzilla mural, and got us seated with room on the end of the table for our baby stroller in no time. It did get full at prime time Saturday evening, but didn't get so loud we couldn't hold a conversation.
Charming mural, and only place in the city I know where you can get omakase and watch a Warriors game. Recently prices went up, but so did the quality of the fish cuts, which on average is actually a step up. Try the Godzilla eyes!
It’s been a minute since I’ve been to Godzilla Sushi and the question is…WHY??? The mural was painted in 1989, before some of you babies were even born! Amy had a bunch of Spicy Tuna, which still delivers like it used to in 2000 when we would throw down on a Friday night! The staff was friendly and note: this is very convenient if you are visiting UCSF hospital or getting X-rays etc. That is how life changes, right???
Looking at the reviews it seems to be a hit or a miss for everyone. We had a definite hit with our group if 5. Got a table right away and service was a little slow but that's OK. They only had 1 lady working all the tables and taking care of the to go/food delivery orders. We got 5 different rolls and they were delivered quicker than we thought. All were super good but the spicy mayo was too hot for me. I really liked the Honey roll but all the food was great. If I'm ever in the area again this will be where I eat sushi. Lol the theme also.
The food is good! The shrimp tempura udon is not on the menu, but the chef was able to accommodate our order. We are looking for soup its cold that time, but they dont have it on their menu. But they are flexible enough to make the shrimp and Veggie tempura Udon for us. Bomb sashimi FRESH! no fishy taste. Small salad as appetizer good dressing (not in the picture 🤭) we finished it right away. Like their tea. Everything is good 👍. Come and visit their restaurant. The lady who served us is nice!
I have always wanted to go to this place ever since I found out about it. Its right up my alley. Godzilla 🐲 Sushi 🍣 was a quient little place that houses all things Godzilla. Even if the restaurant has the name misspelled. But still The Sushi i tried was good. Since I am vegetarian I am hoping to try this again but eat in doors since I was with a friend. So because of the Pandemic. We went elsewhere but I took what I had left home and watched Godzilla 🐲 lol 😆 also one of the people who worked there loved my shirt. So I can't wait to go back here. Hopefully indoors next time.
Excellent sushi! Their nigiri slices are exceptionally generous, and the Godzilla roll is not to be missed. Everyone here is super friendly and nice. Definitely worth it for lunch!!!!
So cool to have such a specifically themed sushi bar!!! Upon entry I was greeted by very friendly staff and surrounded by posters and action figures of every different version of Godzilla. Honestly I've never really been into Godzilla but it was pretty cool. The sushi was also on point! I had a great experience
The waiter and chef are so kind! I love the service and food here! Really great place for sushi. 10/10 recommend

Very good sushi and sashimi. I was expecting it to be so-so, but it was quite good. Only the miso soup was slightly bland. I bought the Goszila tshirt.
Dollar for dollar the best neighborhood sushi spot in the city! Been going here for years. Highly recommended.
Great food. Please add a biollante roll. I’d buy 10
This was our first dining spot when visiting San Francisco; came here for lunch. Food was really good and fresh, prices reasonable (same as those one might expect from any similar sushi bistro/restaurant from my experience [same as Indiana at least]), and the staff was polite and welcoming. Will visit again before leaving SF. Highly recommend if you like sushi 🍣🥣🍚🍱🍶, and small/intimate authentic Japanese dining 🍽.
I love this place! I usually fly into town for business from London, and visiting Godzila Sushi became my ritual in the city! The food and experience is very warm and authentic. Can’t wait to get there again!

The name sells the place, the menu is fun and original, sushi and rolls delish--- and you can buy the T-shirt! What's not to enjoy. Drawback? Parking, but it is San Francisco.
While this place does not have the best, it is still quality. I recently went in to eat by myself and order the sashimi combo. I ended up spending the rest of my meal chatting with the chef about different fish. It was a very pleasant experience. Additionally, they have Happy Hour until 7 so that is always a score! Most of their roles are pretty typical but they do have large selection. I will for sure be dropping by in the future whenever I need a quick bite and desire sushi.
This is our other kitchen. We come here nearly weekly to get our sushi fix. Can get crowded and sometimes there are children. Casual place that often has Warriors or Giants games playing. Friendly sushi makers, wait staff has on and off days.
I was hungry and I wanted to eat and this place was next door to where we were hanging out at so we went inside and they weren’t open yet! I waited though because at that point I knew I wanted a Unagi Donburi (rice bowl with eel), and they were nice enough to at least give us water while we waited. When I got the Unagi Donburi, I was a little sad. It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. On the flip side, it was really good. The rice was warm, sticky and delicious and the eel was really good and I liked the seaweed as well. Overall, it was really good, but it was more of a large snack than a meal. I know if that’s the case for other items on the menu, but any additions would have totally stacked up the bill.
Great service and very central location. Great selection of combination rolls and appetizers. Not many hot entrees and not as many choices with nigiri.
Loved this place! I was happy to see that they had vegan options. I asked the server for items that were dairy and egg free and she told me you could order any of the sushi items from the vegetarian section of the menu. I ended up getting the eggplant rolls which were delicious with some low sodium soy sauce. The vibe is very cute and cozy.
Best sushi in town. They are very kind and the combo menu for 2 is perfect. Amazing muchis

Reasonable prices for the quality of the fish. Their miso soup is <$2 and delicious. We split a bottle of sake, two specialty rolls, and two miso soups for ~$40. Not bad for the City. I recommend sitting at the bar for faster, more personalized service. They do sake bombs here too.

Good spot for a quick sushi fix! They have some pretty interesting rolls. I got the Sunset Roll. It wasn't bad, but I have to admit that the asparagus in it kind of threw me off. I tried the ones my friend ordered too (the only one I remember is the Playboy Roll, haha)--they were pretty delicious! Also, all the zany Godzilla decor was fun to read while waiting for my food. Overall, a good place to drop by if you're craving sushi. The service is quick and efficient. Their special rolls are pretty yummy, but not the best sushi I've had in the city. ;)
I wish I could give 3.5 stars. It's a nice place to hang out, but defenetly not a quality sushi place. I ordered mixed tempura as an appetizer, but it was very disappointing (don't order tempura). My main dish was chirashi bowl (I always try it when I go to a new japanese sushi place because it's supposed to be the chef's [itamae] special bowl). The main shef here is definitely not a traind sushi shef [itamae]. It was the first time in my life when I saw avocado peaces in my bowl and only the most usual peaces of fish (tuna, albacore, salmon, and shrimp). The rice was also average (not really sushi rice quality). That being sad, the crew is very nice, and I'm sure the rolls are enjoyable.
This might not be a totally fair review, but first impressions are hard to break. Ordered their namesake role "Godzilla Roll" to go, which was very good. However, for a $9.50+ roll, I expect more than FOUR pieces of sushi. Don't think I've been to a sushi restaurant, anywhere, that gives you four pieces for a roll. Terrible value for a roll that is named after your restaurant me thinks. Maybe this is why the place only had a couple tables filled at prime dinner eating time on a Thursday night?
The best part about this place was the price point. Most basic rolls were $6, and the specialty rolls were around $12. They also serve beer and sake, and have a couple of TVs for sports fanatics or overflow traffic from SFAC.
Cute interior and convenient location if you have an appt. at the Mt. Zion Hospital. Nothing about their food stands out though. They're pretty standard Japanese fare. We had the bento box for lunch and it was decently priced with ok portions. Service was ok. If you're hoping for better Japanese food though, I would recommend walking another extra 15 minutes and go to JTown instead.
The sushi was OK, probably wouldn't return. Happy hour deal was not really a good deal. They essentially give you fewer rolls for a lesser price.

Honestly not the worst but not the best sushi I’ve ever had super forgettable. Rolls aren’t really creative or different in taste. I got a spicy California roll........ which was literally a normal California roll with a little sriracha on top. Not worth it unless your desperate!
Not the worst sushi in San Francisco.
The staff doesn’t know their menu. I asked for a hand roll and the waiter didn’t know if they served. Very small portion. The hand roll was $1 more than the roll. With all the other sushi spots in SF, I do not know why you would go here.
Cute place. Nostalgic. But the sushi left a lot to be desired. The edamame tasted old, the fish tasted fishy. We wanted to love it and unfortunately, it's just not like it used to be.
This cuddy spot is a cozy and peaceful place that is well-maintained and has a welcoming atmosphere. While the service was pleasant, the food did not suit my personal taste. The shrimp tempura had an unappealing texture and was overly salty, but they did offer a great bargain on a meal that included seven pieces of nigiri sushi, two hand rolls, miso soup, and mochi ice cream for just $50. However, the fish did not taste too fresh, although the mochi ice cream was particularly delicious and they had hot sake for $7! Despite my own reservations, my son thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
This place used to be good, back when it was Japanese owned. Every time I've been since the ownership changed it's been worse and worse. It's the most basic of rolls, not very well done. It's sushi that might pass muster for people who don't want anything interesting or small kids. Non threatening for sushi newbies, and decent as a cheap lunch if you don't want grocery store sushi. I gave it two stars because it's never made me sick, so there's that.

Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed in the sushi here and I will not be returning. The sushi rice was undercooked, the seaweed was stale, and the fish was not fresh and difficult to chew. I hate to do this to a small business, but the undercooked sushi rice especially was extremely disappointing.
I've been going to Godzilla since 1997... And I haven't seen the service this terrible since 2001. Waiting for a table, write your name down, ok no prob lem lo. Table clears, no one speaks to you about sitting. You Sit down, no menus, no water, nada for 12min. You flag him down, and he takes our order. Food arrives, super delicous, still no requested water, or check in with our table throughout meal, thank God for Sapporo. At the end, she ask, how was everything? We laugh, and leave a hefty tip. Its 2018 Godzilla, just talk to you customers, we'll work together.
Their food is ok but their service is terrible; extremely slow and they forgot some of our orders (but still included in our bill until we corrected it). I think they get a lot of pickup orders that automatically deprioritize the dining in customers. If they keep doing this, they gotta just stop getting any customers eating there and get the pickup or delivery orders only. I was very disappointed.
Fish was good service was terrible, not a busy night and we ordered drinks and sushi when drinks came th here was no Sake we were confuse and ordered it again pointing to the bottle on rhe menu , they served 3 tables that came in after us before we got our meals and when we got our orders piece meal we figured out what happened to out first Sake order cause we had an extra order of Salmon, sake negei . Fish qas good but can't recommend this place which I used to think qas the Bomb. :-(
Ordered togo of course, food was left on the counter at pickup and upon checking -room temperature when i got to my car- I figured I had some time that it would be safe if just made. Also, I was exhausted from work and had not eaten anything for over 18 hrs, I just took my chances: Big mistake! I was vomiting violently for the rest of my evening until I passed out and next morning experienced other food poisoning side effects.
