SO fresh and delicious. Casual but you do get a waiter (who was so great—intuitive, kind, magically there whenever you needed him). People popped in from the street to have a quick meal, a lot of solo individuals too. Great area with lots of restaurants, shops, and good coffee. Cheap! About $12-14 for entrees. Highly recommend imperial rolls. Amazingly good.
I love Vietnamese food and am glad I found this place. Their garlic noodles look simple but are oh-so flavor packed and worth coming back here for! Their pork and chicken options are very savory and soft. Delectable till the last bite! Their dishes are slightly more expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants across the bay, but their huge portion sizes make up for the cost! Their servers are polite and welcoming as well. This restaurant is a must-try for sure.
Perilla on Irving Street is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The food is fabulous! They’re famous for their garlic noodles 🍝! But you can’t go wrong with pho or barbecue or a rice plate. Super clean and courteous. I keep coming back over and over again. It’s especially convenient when visiting Golden Gate Park. I’ll pick up some takeout and it’s a short stroll to the Botanical Gardens or Polo Fields or Stow Lake. Can’t go wrong when the food is good and you have a perfect setting in nature!
Got the garlic noodles with 5 spice chicken and imperial rolls Noodles were cooked well, but quite bland. I would have liked to see an option for saucier, more garlicky garlic noodles Imperial rolls were solid, very taro forward Chicken thigh was excellent. Crispy skin, moist cook. Excellent service. I wouldn't go out of my way for this, but with their reasonable prices, I'd stop by if/when I'm in the area
I usually come here for the garlic noodles. Many proteins to choose from, I just go with the chicken which is cooked to perfection and add it with the imperial rolls. Service is great and welcoming, food is cooked to order which I prefer, so I don’t mind the wait. Family owned business at its finest. Definitely will be back!
Not the cheapest but definitely one of the best Pho restaurants in California. Let me tell you why: 1. The rare beef is so fresh 2. The beef brisket is tender than the one in any other Pho restaurants. 3. The basil and bean sprout are also very fresh 4. You can always pay credit card. They don’t have minimal amount requirement for using credit card. 5. Service is better than most of Pho restaurants Highly recommend Pho #1
Great neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant within walking distance to GGP. Generous portions of consistently good food and a friendly, responsive staff. We always recommend Perilla to friends and are happy to support small business!
My friend and I ordered the brisket pho and veggie combo beef broth pho, which were both delicious. The dishes came promptly—they have sizeable portions, with reasonable prices. Besides the food, the restaurant interior is small and simple but clean. Service was also very warm and friendly.
I love this place. Lots a good food for the price; I love the chewy garlic noodles. The owner (I think) refilled my tea and encouraged me to take my time. All the staff were very nice. Will be coming here for lunch in the future!!
We are visiting SF and stopped here during lunch after visiting the park. They were so friendly and welcoming and the food was so good we had the imperial rolls with chicken garlic noodles it was a very generous portion. We also enjoyed some shrimp rolls and had iced Viet coffee. All were amazing, our bellies were full and happy. What a great stop for lunch. Thank you!
Me and my family are vacationing here in San Francisco and found this restaurant while walking and wanted to eat and found this amazing Vietnamese restaurant with delicious pho! The chicken was so tender & tasted delicious! The restaurant is clean & waitress are courteous. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good restaurant on Irving st !
We stopped by after the SKECHERS Hot Chocolate 10K, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. We arrived a bit before the restaurant had officially opened, but the woman working there warmly welcomed us in and quickly brought us glasses of water, which was much appreciated. I ordered the five spice chicken garlic noodles, and overall they were excellent. The chicken and imperial rolls were especially amazing. The noodles themselves had a slightly unusual texture and flavor (almost a bit soapy), and I wish they had been a bit more garlicky -- but everything else more than made up for it. Overall great service and decent food, I can see why this is a popular spot amongst my local friends in the city.
One of the best Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco. We will come back to try other food in the menu. The service is excellent. Very friendly place
I love this place. Right away when you walk in you get greeted by really nice people and the food portions are really big which is so worth it. It’s also really yummy! I would definitely come back again! Enough for three petite girls 🩷
Great service and food! Loved the friendly and quick service we received. The restaurant space is large enough for couples or families. Saw a ton of Togo orders being picked up. We tried the Garlic Noodle Five Spice Chicken with Imperial Roll and the Garlic Noodle Beef with Imperial Roll plates. Both were excellent and the portion sizes were generous. Definitely hit the spot and we were very pleased!
What we ordered: - Beef Garlic Noodles - Garlic Noodle Bowl - Grilled Pork Rolls - Chicken Vermicelli Bowl I’ve never ate at Perilla before but have walked past it many time. I really loved the beef from the garlic noodles, it was super tender and flavorful! The chicken from the vermicelli bowl is super good as well. I’m not a huge fan of garlic noodles so I wasn’t a huge fan of it.
This place is my wife’s favorite in the inner sunset. She loves the vermicelli and beef which is one of my favorites too. The seasoned veggies and rice is also a family favorite. I particularly like the plates where curry is the main spice, however, the consistency of the chicken is still odd to me. Although tender, it does not feel like I am eating real chicken but one of the plant-based alternatives. Still, worth visiting if in the neighborhood.
Great food on a rainy day. Very generous portions! Friendly and nice staff.
For San Francisco, the price is very reasonable for the amount of food that you get and the taste of the food is excellent. Our server did a great job as well.
Incredible garlic noodles with pork, the curry chicken soup was also delicious. Great restaurant.
Great food and service. The kids ate everything even after the power went out. Nothing like a lunch time blackout across SF to keep it interesting.
We ordered the Pork Garlic Noodles, and the portion was really generous! It tasted good, especially the pork. The staff were also really friendly and welcoming. The price is reasonable, and you can get this quality and amount of food, I think it’s perfect.
Super friendly service with decent food. The flavor is sweeter than usual vietnamese places but the portion sizes are amazing. The best part are the eggrolls here which uses rice paper to wrap instead of the hard dumpling wraps. I enjoyed it a lot and the chicken is also delicious. Papaya salad has a bunch of protein on top as well but the marinade is a little sweet for me.
I'm currently sitting in the restaurant taking my last few bites and slurps of my meal. All I can say is, you can feel the love in the meals. I'm from NY and I would come back to SF just to experience the love from this food.
Great meals and aoofrdable price. Awesome restaurant in SF!
The food is excellent! Everything is well seasoned, flavorful, and clearly made with love. The five spice chicken is exceptional. The skin is crispy, the chicken moist. The garlic noodles are perfectly cooked and not overly dressed with garlic. Even the Cabbage salad is amazing. The sweet sauce included on the side of each dish is well balanced and adds an excellent flavor to the dishes. Service is fast and friendly. Food comes out quickly! High recommend if you're in the area.

Tasty food, large portions, reasonable prices, friendly service. Unlike many restaurants in this area, they are open in the afternoon as well as lunch and dinner.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful Last-Minute Find! We discovered Restaurant Perilla the day before Thanksgiving, just as other places were closing. The servers welcomed us warmly, and the food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Excellent service and great taste made this an unexpected and memorable surprise. We’ll definitely be
I love this place so much. Popped in by chance about a year ago and now I come by almost every time I’m at GGP. Other places kind of skimp on the veg in their vermicelli but here they got that fresh herb mix that’s sooooo good. My favorite vermicelli bowl in the city. Garden rolls are also to die for, prices are good, not to mention how nice the staff is. Hope to be back many more times!
Very nice Vietnamese restaurant with reasonable prices and a family atmosphere. My house pho was delicious and so was my friend’s garlic noodles. Both portions were generous. Looks like a neighborhood favorite with many patrons greeting each other. My first time there but will go back.

Good vibe and noise level for talking. Stocky, generous food portion size. Food comes out quick. Hot tea is nice. Fair price.
During my time in San Francisco, I decided to come and try some garlic noodles. I came to this place because of there variety of garlic NOODLES! It was delicious for their noodles and meat, but their vermecilli noodles were not great. The egg rolls were not crunchy. The texture was soggy from the egg rolls. The noodles had some weird textures. It was bouncy but at the same time soggy after putting the sauce. Meat was okay on the vermecilli bowl. For the garlic noodles it had great flavor and nice hint of garlic. I do recommend this place for garlic noodles. After covid it might be different in taste.
lol- I come to SF for work and love Perilla. Because I’m only in SF a few times a year, when I order I forget there’s an extra choice to include silverware. So here I am- yet again- stoned- in my hotel eating delicious noodles with my bare hands because the option for forks isn’t obvious. If you order DoorDash man- remember to select silverware. Maybe next time, yall.
Perilla is a solid spot for flavorful and tasty food with generous portions. The garlic noodles with your choice of protein are a great deal at around $14, especially considering San Francisco prices. The service is very friendly and welcoming, which makes the dining experience even better. The only minor drawback is the restroom setup—you have to walk through the kitchen to get there. It’s not ideal, but it seems more like a space limitation of the building than anything else. Overall, Perilla offers great value, delicious food, and warm service. A neighborhood gem worth checking out.
Quick service; tasteful food, ample quantity - but quite buttery. We had garlic noodles, for which we had to take leftovers home and the oil/butter would smell a bit, not the best to consume, so we had to let go. Imperial rolls were yummy, but again, a bit too greasy. Meat/chicken was fresh, but noodles - not so recommended.

The service was very warm. Although they served Vietnamese food, it gave me HK vibes. The food was decent, didn't stand out too much as some of the meat were slightly dry. The noodles had good flavor and the clams were sauces so well.

Hi I can't recommend eating here. I didn't eat the food today b/c I saw the cook in the back come out of the bathroom wearing the same gloves he went in there with. The host was very nice and accommodating however and the food looked good. Edit: the person I saw had the bathroom door locked when I tried to use it, he came out, adjusted his pants and was wearing the same gloves he went in there with. I saw him handling food in the kitchen immediately after using the bathroom. Your solution was to ask him to change his gloves just because I saw it. It's disgusting and your restaurant has been reported to the SF department of public health.
