This Chamorro Restaurant in The Mission is superb and delicious! The staff and chefs are so welcoming. My mija (daughter) and I shared CHICKEN KELAGUEN & COCONUT TITIYAS, BEEF & POTATO and TINAKTAK with homemade egg noodles. We savored each bite, I was in Guam food Heaven. I will definitely be returning with my hubby who served 2yrs at USMC Base Camp Blaz, Guam, USA.

Easily one of the most satisfying meals I've ever had. As someone who grew up in Guam, this restaurant captures the nostalgia that you'd expect from a Guamanian restaurant with a surprisingly elevated twist. I had lunch there on a Wednesday and the staff was attentive but relaxed, which was so fitting for how things work in Guam. Nobody is in a hurry and it gave me a chance to just relax and enjoy the cozy outdoor patio. I had the corn soup, koko wings, beef tinaktak, chicken kelaguen, red rice, and the banana donuts with fresh whipped cream. Yes, I ordered all of that, and yes, it was just me. Mind your business. Every dish held a wonderful surprise twist that elevated it beyond my expectations. The corn soup was actually served chilled, which is SUPER non-traditional. Even in Guam's humid heat, we eat corn soup piping hot in a crunchy, edible cup. This corn soup was refreshing and exciting with fresh corn and basil and a super crunchy topping that brought an insane texture juxtaposition. The wings were crunchy and super juicy. The tinaktak was served over house made noodles, which is also not traditional, but it was delicious. The banana donuts had a crispy exterior with a gooey center and were served with fresh whipped cream. Honestly I'm still reeling from this meal. This is a MUST-TRY if you're in San Francisco.

Phenomenal food, plenty of options for meat eaters and vegans alike. The staff are the absolute sweetest folks and I love to hear “hafa adai” when I come in! Their food is a little on the fancier side and not exactly fiesta style so be prepared for smaller portions but the flavors are fantastic. I love the bereghenas, sweet potatoes, iceberg salad and tamale. Friends love the kelaguen and I haven’t had a single complaint when I have brought people here for dinner. Sometimes they have live music and events as well.

Ah, this island girl truly felt the hospitality at Prubechu. How did I end up here? Let's just say a lot of last minute decisions and plans that I normally would not be on board with (I am very type A and also an INFJ personality). I was out with a friend and although I was so tired, I wanted to go and try Prubechu as he said he could not make his first reservation. And he kept raving about all the things that he has heard about this place. Now let me tell you, this experience overall - not just at the restaurant but overall was a good time. But I'll save that story for another day. Back to Prubechu. I tend to look at reviews and photos of restaurants before I visit a place but on this occasion, I decided not to. When we arrived in the Mission, I was excited to see that the space was outdoors. We were almost 30 minutes late and luckily D called them and let them know we were late and they were so kind. Right from that phone call I knew we were going to a great place. Now back to the food. Everything on the menu looked amazing. Lord knows how picky I can be with foods sometimes but nothing here gave me the ick. As we were deciding on what to get, it was so hard because all the dishes that came out as well smelled amazing as they passed our table. On a whim, I said we should do the fiesta table and he can order the wines. Done deal. The team shared that the fiesta table would include items that were not on the menu so of course we said heck yeah. I could not even remember what we ate that night (and by this I mean I cannot describe to you what the dishes were) but I can tell you that they were amazing. As someone who isn't in love with certain flavors, Prubechu surprised my tastebuds and shook me with how each dish was served with intention. One of the team members saw that I had not touched my glass of wine after 20 minutes and was so kind to offer me another recommendation and I was very impressed by this. I extended my thanks and shared I was caught up in the conversation but that she was very kind in doing so. We cannot wait to go back and try items on the menu as well. Until next time!

Came here with a friend and wow this place impressed! Good: - The noodle dish was amazing - the tinaktak was so good and the portion sizes were incredibly generous - I liked how savory the whole dish was - The rice was simple, yet it was so good even by itself - The rolls were sweet and the butter with it made it even better - Service was great, we were checked in on quite a lot throughout the meal and asked about how things were tasting. - Nice ambiance, really good for catching up for a friend Bad: - Pork belly dish was a little dry but I had to add the sauce and it was much better after - It's expensive...but I wanted to try everything. Overall such a good experience! It's packed for a reason

Foodie At Heart

A popular restaurant in the mission area with exceptionally delicious food. The ambience is simple but great. We ordered chicken skewers (very strongly recommended), chicken kleguan coconut tacos, whole fried fish (banzino), do not forget to add your fav sauce. We had garlicky hot sweet sauce and it enhanced the flavor of all dishes significantly. The service was quick. And the staff very courteous indeed. Must visit for Guam food in SF area

Everything we had the couple times we were here was amazing! Lots of vegetarian options as well! I loved the eggplant, empanadas and the tamales. The banana dessert is so worth it!

Delicious food, excellent service and an extremely well paced meal. This was a Friday evening meal so I normally expect a quicker pace to the meal but that was not my experience and the change was well welcomed.

First time visit was amazing! The food is so good, wanted to order everything in the menu. The ribs are a must order along with the empanadas. We also had a shrimp dish that was like ceviche and was so good. The iceberg lettuce wedge had a wasabi dressing that is amazing. The service was top notch and our server suggested on of the menu own of lamb neck. If you like lamb you need to order this. Can't wait to go back and bring friends.

One of the best meals I've ever had in San Francisco. The entire serving team was very kind, warm and welcoming - truly a family-style restaurant. The food was incredible. The koko wings were by far my favorite, and probably the best chicken wings I've ever had. Was a great place to reunite with a friend who I haven't seen for a few years, over great food and in a great setting.

10/10 amazing experience! We accidentally made a reservation for the wrong night, but they were able to squeeze us in anyway. Every person we interacted with was so kind, and our waiter gave us great recommendations. On top of the friendly service, the food was amazing. The brisket was so tender, the side dish with cassava was insanely good, and the tinaktak was another winner. Highly recommend!!

Because what I was tasting was really good until I would be overwhelmed by salt. I would keep my eye out for this cuisine again and I really wish the food wasn't so salty. The only thing I could really eat happily was the tinaktak and red rice. And the roll.

Food: The menu items that provided that most ‘bang for your buck’ are Thrice-cooked Brisket (best item) and Crispy Sweet/Sour Pork Belly. The KoKo wings were also quite good. Order black or white Finadenne as a side and any other side dish for that matter. Everything was good, but do know that the portions are slightly smaller than what you might expect. Koko, Thrice-cooked Brisket, Crispy Sweet/Sour Pork Belly, Black Finadenne Ambience: Pruebechu has indoor & outdoor sections. The outdoor section is much larger, but both are well-decorated with Guam/Pacific Island-decor. The outdoor patio is canopied and there are plenty of heat lamps. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant dining environment. Service: The service was satisfactory. No problems there. Overall: Recommended. A pleasant dining experience - unique food (although smaller portions) and a nice environment.

I came to prubechu not knowing much about guamanian cuisine. A friend and I did the tasting menu and were impressed with the range of flavors. We shared ~10 dishes and left very full. It’s one of the more affordable tasting menus for how much food you’re getting at $90 each. Service was a little slow and the cocktails were nothing special. Would definitely recommend for a date night or if you’re looking to try a new cuisine in sf.

I hate to say this and I very rarely feel this way about a restaurant, in fact I don’t even remember the last time I felt this way, but this was by far one of the worst dining experiences I have had. I will preface this by saying that Prubechu was at the top of my list of restaurants to try while visiting SF. I heard great things about it and was very excited to come here with my husband for our anniversary. Unfortunately, that excitement was met by the biggest disappointment. Here’s why: After checking out the menu, our server explained to us that the fiesta table (tasting menu) is where the “chef brings out the best of the food” in 10 courses. It’s $96 per person for this option. We compared the regular menu items, which by the way already seemed unreasonably expensive ($25 for 5 chicken wings, $32 for a potato dish, $10 for pickles, etc), and we decided YOLO let’s do the feast. We were excited to go all out (it was our anniversary) and to try their cuisine. First course was a creamy potato soup. Very mediocre, and I was concerned at the decision we just made to spend $200 on dinner with this being the first course. Then a “Caesar salad”. Idk in what world that was a Caesar salad. Not that I care that it wasn’t a Caesar salad, but why are we calling it that? It was large chunks of tomatoes, very large pieces of frisée, corn, and a creamy dressing. Caesar? Also it was very lacking in flavor. Then they brought us a cheesy focaccia with super crispy edges (this was the best thing we ate there but how is that even Guamanian?) Then they brought one small shrimp tostada. For the two of us. It had an avocado cream base and cold shrimp on top. Very basic, kinda bland. At this point we asked the server for hot sauce, he brought us a (tiny) condiment cup of hot sauce and told us to use very little because it’s super spicy. He wasn’t lying, the entire dinner we consumed probably half of a teaspoon of the hot sauce (this is relevant for later). After that they brought us two tacos with cold meat and grated coconut. Again, not flavorful, and cold. Then the entrees: short rib and chicken wings. The short rib was surprisingly tough, we had a hard time cutting it. And the chicken wings had a nice crispiness to them but extremely overhyped. By now, we are absolutely shocked at what we had been served for the price they were charging. But I figured dessert may just fix all of this. Wrong. A scoop of vanilla ice cream with a little nut crumble topping sprinkled on top. That’s when I really felt scammed. $96 per person and you’re serving us a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert? That felt extremely lazy and disrespectful. And then get this - we get the bill and they charged us FOUR DOLLARS for the hot sauce. WHAT?!! We couldn’t believe it. We already felt the tasting menu was way too expensive for what they served, and then they can’t even give us a complimentary spoonful of hot sauce?? I have never felt more scammed in my life by a restaurant. My husband and I go out often and don’t mind spending money on nice meals, but this was beyond disappointing and the biggest waste of money. I genuinely have no idea how people are leaving such great reviews. I truly wish we felt that way because this was no cheap dinner, we only got 9 of the 10 courses for some reason, portions were small, horrible value, and just not good food. The only good thing at the restaurant was the service, the guys who served us were nice.
