I love their empanadas! The picante sauce has a nice kick. Plus, they were super patient with me when I did my best to speak to them in Spanish.
Found this place while waiting for the bus, glad I stopped in! Food is delicious, empanadas are awesome! They are quick, professional, and kind. Would recommend!
Delicious Colombian food. Simple and low key restaurant but the food and the service by one do it all girl is awesome. Wish there was a place like that xlose to my area.
I ate my food so fast I forgot to take pictures. The mondongo was amazing and you should try it.
Best Colombian Enoanada in Queens and the Chicharon/fried pork belly is so!! Good and crunchy. And the prices is what I like The most 😉👍🏻
Food is great I either pick up or get delivery the price for the amount of food you get is awesome and they always have what looking for. I recommend this place
Good solid breakfast diner (probably just as solid for other meals). Empanadas and chorizo were good. Skip the breakfast potatoes and either get plantains or an empanada
Great price and great food! It's good to have another choice besides just the usual food of the area.
Extremely fresh and delicious food. I recommend the chicken club sandwich or chicken on the grill with Huevos Pericos. I eat here almost daily.
Lots of food, their servings are full of goodies. Call to pick up, not much room for dining. But well worth the food
The food is always good at El Gustazo. Very friendly staff. I always recommend this place to all my friends and family.
Great empanadas, excellent service, can’t beat some great home cooking for all of your Colombian favorites.
This place has awesome empanadas. Swung by for 2 cheese to chicken. They did not disappoint
Location is Awesome not far from my job or house all ways good 😉 french toast special for breakfast or Roast pork meal for dinner Love getting food from here also ways friendly staff
Very good food we love it , and they start service really early
Delicious, authentic food and very nice service .. .. must try the empanadas .. can’t go wrong all very tasty ! Will be back.
Great place to go to before Mets games to fuel up. Awesome food.
The best empanadas I have ever had. Always fresh and made from scratch. I come from Manhattan to order at least a dozen to take home. The sauce is also great, in house... nicely complements the meal.
I love love love their empandas!! All of their dishes are always a hit, I especially go for their empanadas and fruit shakes. Everything is always fresh when I go. I fully recommend it!! a great location
The food is good . The prices are good and the service is good . It’s hard to find all three . I recommend the empanadas. I also really like their fried ribs or bandeja. Anything on their menu is really worth a try.
best food i always order bulk orders of empanadas and they always have it ready the same time you tell them and customer service is impeccable would rate a 10 if i could amazing food and great customer service
You can’t go wrong going here that only is it family owned business but the food as you thinking you’re back in Colombia. Super comforting and consistently delicious
they have the Best Colombian Empanadas !! on tri state area the food is always fresh right out their Grill !! and the service is 5 starts !!! No Complains i travel from LI to Queens !!!
The empanadas are so fresh , they don't seat on the counter all day as most of the places , empanadas are fried as you order , and food delicious very home made tasty , highly recommend
One of my favorite places, 10000% definitely the best restaurant around here 👌👌 Inhaled my Cubano after taking the first bite. Almost forgot to breathe. EMPANADAS SO GOOD🤌🤌
I don't live by these area, but every time I go there with my best friend, it's super nice, the food is so fresh, tasty and the service is amazing. 5000 ⭐
The food portion was huge and very flavorful. Ordered for delivery as well after our visit and it did not disappoint us at all. Hole in the wall for sure
empanada spot not a high class restaurant, good food tastes better if you eat it fresh at the restaurant instead of delivery but still tastes good. If you come in don’t be in a rush cause the employees are very busy working
Empanadas were even bigger than how the waitress described them! Excellent service, too.
Super great hawaii empanadas love them and recommend them, my family also love the meat ones. There's also regular cheese ones. The rest of the food is also good . Ate here about 2 times great ladys who work here. It's gets very busy so sometimes I order ahead to go..
I love their empanadas! Just make sure you tell them to make you a fresh batch since they have some already cooked and ready but for me I want them freshly cooked since I take them to go, they'll still be warm when you get home. The soups, including their chicken noodles is delicious especially in the winter!
Just real food in a blue collar setting served with genuine hospitality. Never been disappointed in anything ordered and always leave with some empanadas to go! Thank you for your service to the community!
Really awesome place to get some empanadas :), staff is very friendly and food is amazingly good. Definitely on my list to come back and try other dishes. Price was very reasonable as well.
Delicious, authentic colombian food. The BEST empanadas in Queens
I’ve been searching for a chicharrones spot in NYC for a long time and I’m glad I finally found a spot in Flushing! I got the chicharrones with rice and beans and potato salad (comes with half an avocado). Every aspect of the meal was delicious. The pork was perfectly crispy, the rice was soft and delicious. The beans also paired perfectly with the rice. The staff was also super sweet and friendly. I would definitely come back for more and for breakfast. I saw a lot of New York breakfast friendly options on the menu for a very reasonable price. They take cash, credit card, and apple pay!
El Gustazo Empanadas was such a satisfying meal. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and made with care. I ordered the grilled chicken with rice, a beets salad, and lentil soup — and each part hit the mark. The grilled chicken was juicy and flavorful, the rice was perfectly cooked, the beets salad was refreshing and balanced, and the lentil soup was warm, hearty, and comforting without feeling heavy. If you want a place that feels wholesome and filling while still tasting like real home-style cooking, this is it. I’ll definitely be back.
Affordable colombian homestyle food. We usually order in from the place. This time we sat and ate at the restaurant. They had TVs on with colombian news and then music. We ordered the daily special beef soup and some ribs. The soup came with rice choice of salad a slice of avocado. We ordered blackebery juice.
We ate here twice during a recent stay in the area for US Open. Very friendly staff and food was fresh and delicious. We tried their famous empanadas as well as chicken gyros. We would come back if in the area again.
Amazing Colombian food spot in Flushing, Queens. Great to see a classic neighborhood restaurant still open in this area! The food taste is delicious and good portions for a low price. Everything is delicious on their menu. I love the chicken cutlet, ground beef or chicharon is the best. Restaurant is comfortable and staff is professional. Food comes out quick, hot and fresh. Also available for take out. 10/10 on everything!
They take your order quick. Service is fast too and their empanadas taste homemade. They’re pretty big for their price and have different sauces available. Going to stop by here whenever I’m in flushing now .
Good is made fresh to order. The empanadas were full of flavor and delicious.
Food was delicious and the service was really good and attentive. Try the Mango juice (water) it’s refreshing!
Good food, but the tables were dirty and they just cover it with some paper
Had an issue in the past but they have definitely switched things up for the best , can't complain about anything, fresh chicken, meat , rice , salads .. price is good considering the options nearby , 2 people can eat with 30$ , I recommend the grilled chicken with rice ,plantains and avocado 🥑 . Great option in Flushing if you're looking for a Latin taste .
Delicious Columbia platters. The thick coat of seasoning on the roast chicken, the tenderness of the beef, the crunchiness of the pork. Top that off with some super soft rice and creamy beans. On to the empanadas! The chicken and beef were good but the cheese one though. It was ridiculous! The time spent in the fryer really made the crust insanely crisp and the warm ooeygooey cheese topped with a little salsa was perfection.
Came here for the first time during lunch. The dining area is limited. We tried the rice with chicken, platanos, and arepa con queso. Food was good, service was fast.
The entrance is small, you pack your self as sardines waiting to be called. It's actually a fire hazard. But the food it fresh and delicious, carts going past by stamp a card. And then pay after your done. This is best with party's of 4+. Chinese English, quite confusing not really a quite place to eat. Overall no 4 stars.
Empanadas are pretty tasty. I also tried chorizo, typical Columbian be entree dish, sweet plantain (maduros) and fried plantains (tostones). All authentic and yummy. I usually go here when I have cravings for empanadas. When I bought two tray full for my neice's party. It was the 1st thing to go. I bought beef and chicken empanadas. Chicken wins hands down. Price is reasonable. The decor is the only negative thing I would have to say. It's more of a take out place.
They always serve such good food. Although it seems spicing can be reduced sometimes, especially when they are packed. Anyway, still a much healthier option. Just wished they served tres leches.
I order from here quite often, they do a good job of always getting the order correct and their lunch special is a good deal. I typically go for the pernil or sobrebarriga. The empanadas are also good.
This is a small to go/restaurant with outdoor and indoor dining. I have only came here to take home enpanadas. They are great here (reminds me of my grandma's) and I love their pique (spicy sauce). The staff if friendly and the service is quick. While waiting, I seen a lot of deliveries being packed so I'm sure the rest of their food is great too. I'll have to give it a try next time!
Stumbled across this restaurant while visiting the Flushing area today. The prices were good, 10-20$ for a lunch special. The portion size was large and the food was flavorful and delicious. The staff were very friendly; I'm learning Spanish and I was able to practice with our hostess, although they do speak great English. It was a bit hot in the store, and the music they were playing cut out while we were there for some reason.
Ambiance is not great but the food is good and affordable. Our server Sorelly was awesome. They don’t sell fruit juices only coffee, soda and water. There is also additional charge for gratuity and credit card processing fee. Anytime I am in the area I stop in to get a nice bowl of lentejas.
Like the Colombian empanadas & hot sauce from this place been ordering for pickup for a few years now & always very satisfying.
Loved how they actually listened to how I wanted my Chorizo cooked well done & cut into slices. Usually Colombian bakeries & restaurants never want to listen so it was plus for me! First time having their arepa con queso and it was delicious! Their empanadas are definitely the best I ever had! Highly suggest coming here if you’re craving empanadas!
It is what it is. Empanadas are alright, but expect the oil they're fried in to be VERY WELL USED. Cheap and fast. Dinky little dining area with two tables. No decor.
Food is amazing they just need a new ventilation system you'll come out of there smelling like grease big F*&^% turn off .... honestly if that wasn't the problem It would've gotten a 5 stars ... just order for delivery honestly
Great food, delicious amd reasonable prices. Friendly staff ...Dont forget to order a Postobon apple soda with your food! Well be back !! ❤
Order mixup but bbq pork ribs were melt off the bone delicious
Ok, neighborhood place to eat breakfast, other food items are a little pricey, but their empanadas, cheese, beef, and chicken are good. I like the Sancocho too which is served on Mondays. Wish they would move to a bigger location, limited space to eat. They deliver too.
Empanadas are rightfully my 3rd favorite food. I had the beef, cheese, and chicken one. Chicken and beef were fairly good, but could have been more moist on the inside as well as the dough. The cheese empanada was not very great, as it had little flavor. However, overall not bad
Apparently, when it comes to breakfast, the cook will serve anything and that what you ordered. But I just found that out.Serve for me a hard egg when I ask for over easy and aint right. You obviously made a mistake. No, he made a mistake and still gave it to the customer.I grew up in a restaurant.I never did that ever he shouldn't ever do that ever. The staff is awesome
I walked past El Gustazo de Empanadas at first because the windows are completely covered with shades, making it easy to miss if you’re just passing by. The signage is subtle, so you really have to pay attention to find it. Inside, I noticed a “grade pending” sign—but because the shades cover everything, you wouldn’t know until you’re already seated. I lowkey regret looking up their inspection after we had already ordered 😩 On top of that, there were a few flies buzzing around, so we just prayed we wouldn’t get sick. As for the food: the empanadas were just okay, but the pique, chorizo, and chicharrón were all really good. Overall, we still enjoyed the food, but the hidden signage, average empanadas, and flies make it a bit of a mixed bag
Place looked clean....it was uncomfortably hot....food wasn't bad...I ordered the Carne asada with white rice, beets and avocado...I was about to finish my rice when I saw the hair...it was too late ...I did not say anything just paid and walked out ...I won't be going back ...that's a big turn-off...I went back against my better judgment and I shouldn't have...I waited 7 minutes to be seated and in the picture I'm posting of the 3 that work there you will get an idea as to why it takes up to 20 minutes for them to even come and get your order...talking all the time ....the 3 of them...lo que se pasan es hablando y coven una eternidad para atender los clientes...y para pagar lo mismo ...terrible no vuelvo mas ni le recomiendo a nadie que vaya...
Bad attention to the client! The food is good but it feels like is not fresh
Honestly I love their empanadas. Best empanadas ever…when they’re not damaged 😭 today was the third time they gave me damaged empanadas. I ordered 5 beef empanadas and they all tasted really bad. It was gross and just super disappointing.
Client until I order a full chiken when I got home what I received was a yesterday chiken orange akin from Las days it was terrible hard and seriously I need to buy other chiken on other restaurant I will not order food from here again and prefere restaurants that make fresh food 🙃 when a restaurant sell food from yesterday leftover those restaurant lose clients empanas ok but chiken on microwave Tham it's so bad. Them the skin orange like the sazon was the first to consume by skin 😩 dam I will not even eat soup again here I got pictures I will ad later
My co-worker and I went here for lunch and we were both disappointed with our food. The chicken was very dry and rice was not very good. The portions were great but the food was not to our liking.
First timer and I was excited to have some Colombian food for lunch but nope, empanadas were extremely greasy, the oil itself tasted old. He chicharrón wasn’t crunchy at all, the piece of avocado I was given was already browning, the potato salad was trash, the pernil had no flavor at all, rice was mediocre and the sopa de plátano was definitely not it. As someone close to the country of Colombia I was incredibly disappointed and sad to say i trashed me and my family’s food, Waste of $62
Some things are good some are not. The baked chicken plate, if you order it in the evening, the chicken is dry AF. It has obviously been sitting there for a while before I ordered it. The empanadas are good and that's why I give it two stars rather than one.
Just got off the phone with one of the hosts there and she was extremely rude. She made me wait on the phone for like 10 mins and then rushes me with my order. You can’t even ask a question because she gets bothered. I asked to speak to the manager and she kept saying he wasn’t there. I have dealt with this twice already. The food is good but the service is horrible. Please hire people that are more friendly and helpful
The service at this Colombian restaurant was friendly and attentive, which we really appreciated. The main course was okay, but I was surprised that the beans were charged separately as a side without being clearly explained in advance. That felt unexpected. I also ordered a Greek salad, but it wasn’t prepared in a traditional way. The cheese was not feta, and the salad included ingredients like lettuce and avocado. It tasted fine, but it felt more like a regular house salad with their own cultural cheese rather than a Greek salad as described on the menu. Overall, the service was good, but clearer menu descriptions and pricing transparency would really improve the experience.
Terrible service during Pandemic. Inadequate handling of food and money with the same gloves. No masks worn by employees. The order was incomplete and when I returned they spread the food all over the place. Could not eat it after.
Do yourself a favor, and don’t go to that place, you will regret it, the service sucks, plus they give you a small amount of food for the money you spend, it is outrageous. Please don't go there
Did not like this place at all the avacado I got was turning brown/Black and some of the rice was uncooked not edible. Place was pretty dirty... time for food inspection
This restaurant is likely to be involved in a debit card phishing scam. Letting scammers take out cash using stolen debit cards. They stole $400 from me 1/4/24 using a satiated card
I give this place 0 stars. Worst empanadas ever. I ordered the Hawaiian empanadas and had the worst taste. The cheese tasted old and everything else taste bad. When I called them to let them know, they didn’t seem to care.
The old lady who acts like a manager is so rude person. I'm not sure if she was the manager, but she was very rude and impatient when she answered the phone. After waiting for her for ten minutes, she spoke to us in a commanding tone.
I was hunger headache, kind of hungry. I was flushing the dumping shop I wanted to visit was closed so i decided to hold out until home. I saw this restaurant as I was driving by, decided to stop for 2 empanadas, did a quick review once over before heading in. Appears family owned and operated. Saddle the empanadas were NOT GOOD. I ordered one chicken and one beef. The filling, and flavor were not discernable. Both looked the same, and tasted almost identical. Too much potatoes was used to stretch the filling. Honestly, the best thing I had was the homemade sauce for the empanadas. Maybe it was an off day. Certainly, on my do not return list.
I went to a Colombian restaurant called El Gustazo Empanadas for lunch, and it was a complete rip-off. I ordered sobrebaŕiga with sopa de fideos and a lettuce, tomato, and avocado salad. The food was disgusting and tasteless. The avocado was rotten, covered in black spots. I called the waitress, and she took it away without saying a word. Only when I specifically asked about the avocado did she respond, saying all the avocados were in the same condition. I felt completely ignored. To make matters worse, while everyone was eating, the waitress was cleaning her teeth and making loud, unpleasant noises—it was truly disgusting. It’s clear these waitresses are only there to get tips. How do they serve an avocado they wouldn’t dare eat themselves and expect the customer to eat it—especially when we’re paying for the meal? This will be my first and last time at this place. Restaurants like this should be shut down. I felt completely robbed. Please stop supporting businesses like this.
Poor service. Will add extra to you to your food so they put one in a socially-awkward position as you only ordered one now you are left with extra food & dollars on your bill. Now, they did make sure to provide me with just one tiny sauce container despite charging n giving me one unordered item. Not cool. Tipped them adequately but will never return as honesty is the best policy. It was my first n last time there.
Bro this waitress wouldn’t give me a second to breathe and limited my choice options just because I got take out and then telling me at the end don’t forget to tip terrible service the food was weak very bland. And packed with rice and two small pieces of chicken like they were running out or something. Long story short don’t come here you’ll get better food for your money at sarku Japan, or McDonald’s not worth it.
