Beautiful cafe! Even the dishes are part of the design, everything this eye candy :) the food was decent too. Be careful with the noir latte because your lips become black as ash
There was a quick detour from work which changed my mind to explore the new area. My time at Vert Frais was splendid. A lot of different cuisine to available to try. The burst of flavors were lovely and as perfect as it could be. The serving size was manageable and the dishes were beautiful to appeal to my taste.
Great food, bright beautiful space and great service, but a bit pricey for what you get. I got the salmon bowl this time, it was simple, fresh and delicious. Last time I got the vegan ramen and it was a bit bland for ramen. Their hot chocolate is randomly the best I have ever had in nyc. It's very rich and chocolatey. It was too much for my 7 year old brother, but I was happy to take it off his hands.
We had the following Omurice - it was tasty and was a lot of food for one person so you share this for sure. Karaage (not pictured) - very well Seasoned and tasty as well. Katsu Don - great taste and tender meat as well. Matcha pancake - just the perfect amount of sweet. And very fluffy as well
Vert Frais has a beautiful and cozy atmosphere with thoughtful décor that makes the space feel warm and inviting. The hanging plants, soft colors, and artistic details give the café a relaxing vibe that stands out from typical brunch spots. Even though there’s no Wi-Fi and it’s a laptop-free space, it actually adds to the experience — you can sit, enjoy your meal, and be present without distractions. The food was flavorful and well prepared, with a menu that offers a mix of creative drinks, brunch dishes, and desserts. Everything tasted fresh, and the presentation matched the overall aesthetic of the place. It’s an easy spot to enjoy a slow meal, take pictures, and appreciate the design and atmosphere.
Visit Vert Frais if you're looking for an aesthetic food/drink experience that caters closest to Japanese taste profile. At the times we visited, we noticed it was a full Japanese speaking house staff and they were extra friendly and very kind, which got us further excited for the menu offerings. Please note that the place does get very busy during normal lunch and dinner hours so keep that in mind if you try to come during then. We'd recommend coming during off-hours to fully soak in the clean floral atmosphere. If you're used to Katsu Don being overly sweetened for no reason in the US restaurants, you won't find that here. Instead, the sauce is more savory as it should be like how we've found back in Japan. The drinks in general are also not overly sweet either, which allows the different flavors to be experienced more so than being overpowered by sugar. This was our third visit and we've tried a different items during each visit as we are often around this area. So far, we've had three of the souffle pancakes, Salmon Ikura Bowl, Katsu Don, Shoyu Ramen with side of Pork Cha Shu Bowl for food items. For drink items, unfortunately we didn't take picture of the one new paper menu but if you see the pictures they do look exactly alike. There was a Lychee drink, Citrus drink, Rose Latte, Rose Matcha Latte, Lavender Lemonade, Berry Bliss. Highly recommend this place for people who want to watch their sugar consumption in general while still getting their sweets & food fix. *Edit* For fixing some captions attached to photos & spelling.
I visited this beautiful Japanese-style café for a collaboration and was blown away by the quality, flavors, and aesthetic of everything I tried. It’s the perfect spot for a chic brunch that feels like a mix between a dessert café and a brunch restaurant, depending on how sweet your mornings are! I had three incredible matcha souffle pancakes: • MATCHA SOUFFLÉ PANCAKE with house-made matcha sauce and seasonal fruits — fluffy, balanced, and beautifully plated. • VERT FRAIS MATCHA SOUFFLÉ PANCAKE with white bean paste, heavy cream, and more matcha — this one was so creamy and rich. • MONT BLANC SOUFFLÉ PANCAKE with chestnut purée and sweet white bean paste — the most comforting fall-winter vibe! I also tried their FONDANT AU CHOCOLAT, which is a warm chocolate lava cake paired with vanilla ice cream and berries, an indulgent dream. And not to forget the OMURICE, a savory touch to balance the meal, made with bacon fried rice, mushrooms, and a flavorful demi-glace. Their latte art is next level! I had a Lavender Latte, Rose Matcha Latte, and a Noir Latte. Each one was smooth, aromatic, and heart-topped with love.
Got the Matcha Souffle Pancake and the Omurice and both were absolutely delicious!! This place is so aesthetic but small. This place is popular and gets pretty busy on the weekends. There is typically a small line outside the doors on weekends (even before they open), so be prepared to wait a little or get there early. I am definitely visiting again!
Vert Frais in Long Island City is such a cozy find. It perfectly blends Japanese-inspired flavors with that relaxed New York café feel. I tried the Lavender Latte, Rose Latte, and their signature Vert Frais Matcha Souffle Pancake—light, airy, and full of flavor. The Ramen + Salmon Ikura Bowl was comfort in a bowl, and finishing with both the affogato and matcha affogato was the best decision. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and the space had a calm, welcoming vibe that made me want to stay longer. If you’re looking for a brunch or dessert spot in Long Island City, Vert Frais deserves a spot on your list.
I came here for brunch on a Sunday morning, and my friend and I loved it. If you are also interested on coming on a weekend for brunch, I highly recommend coming 15-20 minutes before it opens to guarantee seating as soon as it opens (otherwise, you might be stuck with a 30 min-1 hour wait. The interior of the space is bright, floral, and very cutely decorated. Service here is pretty quick and they're kind. They are a Japanese fusion menu, and everything looked so good. My friend and I opted for one of their matcha souffle pancakes (which they are known for) and their omurice. Both dishes were phenomenal. The souffle pancakes were so jiggly, soft, and the cake wasn't too sweet so it paired with the matcha creme well. The omurice had mushroom, bacon, and other toppings in the rice so it added so much depth to the dish (as opposed to just traditionally white rice). I highly recommend this dish. I would love to come back and try some of their other menu items
I went for brunch with my partner and had a wonderful experience. Upon walking in, I noticed how the sunlight lit up the restaurant. It created such a warm and inviting atmosphere which highlighted the instagram worthy decor. I could tell that the owner put a lot of thought into the interior design with the color scheme. The food was amazing! Not only was the presentation exceptional, it tasted just as good as it looked. I would highly recommend: matcha soufflé pancakes, omurice, and the omelette (with cheese and vegetables). For drinks definitely go for matcha latte, citrus blossom, and lychee blush. They were well balanced and not too sweet (which a lot of cafes seem to). Just take a look at my photos to see how beautiful they are. The service was exceptional as the server was very attentive and catered to our needs. Please check out this restaurant whenever you’re in the mood for Japanese eats and flavorful drinks!
Went for brunch with the girls and had a lovely time here! We came around 2PM on a Wednesday and it wasn’t busy at all - plenty of empty seats. The food & drinks are a bit pricey (add ¢50 for iced bevs) however the presentation & taste as well as the atmosphere make up for it! I ordered the lavender latte and it was delicious and so well balanced. My friend ordered an iced matcha and hot cocoa and it tasted great. The matcha was excellent (not milky at all). The food was pretty good. Overall, this is a great place to catch up with friends / family and snap some aesthetic photos. Definitely coming here again.
Japanese inspired brunch restaurant with beautiful hanging plants for a romantic yet casual environment. We came for dinner, and enjoyed the katsu don and omurice, which was flavorful and delicious. I don’t recommend quinoa salad, because it tasted bad. The entire restaurant is small, and the tables are quite close together, typical for NYC. The tables are quite
Cutest café aesthetic meets seriously good food 🫶🏼 I know this place is known for the pancakes and omurice (which are great), but the ramen was unexpectedly delicious too — such a pleasant surprise. Our only complaint is that the cocktails felt too weak for the price.
Aesthetic Japanese brunch cafe. Omurice was quite good; matcha soufflé pancake was fluffy but only ok. The food came out kinda slowly, and portions were small for the price
* The omurice (substituted the demi glace which is not halal for ketchup 🍅) was very memorable. I will think about it for a long time. * Montblanc soufflé pancake was only okay, though we’ve tried soufflé pancakes several times and haven’t found a liking to them yet so maybe it’s just us * It’s good service
Inspired by both classic Japanese flavors and modern techniques, Vert Frais brings the essence of Japanese comfort and culinary tradition to LIC. This restaurant offers a wide variety of drinks and dishes that reflects a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary flair. Vert Frais offers popular delicious Japanese dishes such as Omurice, Hamburg Steak, and Souffle Pancake. While my friends and I didn't have the chance to try the Souffle Pancake, we were able to try the Omurice and Hamburg Steak. The Omurice was perfect, a nice blend of flavor between the rice and egg and ketchup. The ketchup added a good depth without overwhelming either the egg or rice. The Hamburg Steak was cooked perfectly, letting the knife cut right through. The demi-glace sauce was also beautifully made to balance the flavor. I highly recommend ordering a drink from here to. All of their drinks are aesthetically pleasing and definitely photogenic! A note of advice: mix the drink very well! You have to make sure the drink gets fully mixed otherwise it may taste overly sweet. It was like that for the Lavender Lemonade, Berry Bliss, and Blue Moon Latte. All tasted sweet despite the "mixing", but after mixing much more thoroughly, it becomes a nice blend where you can taste all the flavor.
Went there for brunch with my family. give it a 4/5 Got the edamame for apps 8/10 ( good cant go wrong) Rose latte 10/10 (hot and cold are both delish and beautifully presented! Matcha Martini 10/10 (strong but delish) got the OMURICE 8/10 with the hamburger steak it can easily feed 2, the demi glaze made it a bit heavy and was on the sweeter side Ramen + Salmon Lunch Special 9/10 Salmon very fresh and good portion Star of the show has to be the MATCHA SOUFFLE PANCAKE 1000/10 It was fluffy and airy and sweet but not too sweet. Everyone loved it!!! Service was a bit slow. got some of the food before some of the drinks which is a bit odd. One of the main dishes didn't come out till the end of our meal (it was JAPANESE HAMBURG STEAK maybe due to the temp of the meat it took longer but felt a bit odd to eat while the other waited for their meal) (not sure about rating because it was another person trying this not myself but they enjoyed it. Over all 4/5 stars. The servers was great at answering our questions on the cuisine and and the food was good. Decor was nice!!
My wife and I went here because of their fluffy pancakes and tasty drinks. The interior decor is very appealing and a great way to forget about the concrete jungle outside and noise. The host and the server are very accommodating and overall very polite! Though pricey, it's a great spot for brunch or for a date.
Ordered the omu rice and pancakes to share, hmmmmmmm the ambience is absolutely beautiful. We didn’t order any drinks but since we were sitting next to the counter we saw how the drinks were made and they were definitely very popular. The omu rice was ok, had bits of bacon in it but nothing that stood out. The pancake on the other hand took a bit longer to come out, but the flavor was a bit on the blander side, and the texture as if it were sitting out for a while, come here for the aesthetics and you won’t be disappointed but in regards to food and for the price you’re paying, maybe not yas too much expectations. The service was great! Went on a Saturday noontime, and it was pretty busy! There was a wait of maybe 10 minutes for the counter top, they said 30 for a table.
My husband and brother in law initially brought this restaurant to my attention as they planned a Mother's Day Brunch for me and my sister. This is a very popular spot that's gone semi viral on Tiktok thanks to some foodie influencers who have highlighted their signature dishes. They don't take reservations on the weekends or the Hallmark holidays such as Mother's Day/Father's Day, which I don't think is fair to customers. We're forced to wait outside in outrageously long lines, for hours. You're able to reserve a table during regular weekdays. Mother's Day line was insane, we were waiting for 1.5 hours. There's no area for waiting, you just queue up along the building. You can't leave your name or number with the front either. You're either physically there or you lose your spot. Staff or manager, is not well trained to handle bigger parties. If you have more than 5 people in your party, good luck. The server kept letting everyone that was after us in the line sit at tables that were freeing up, while not saving a table for our bigger party. I get that it's hard to save 2 tables side by side when diners are actively coming and going and chances that two tables near each other clear at the same time is rare, but you should save a table free table if the one next to it appears to also be wrapping up. My brother in law had stop the server before she let another group behind us in. He pointed out that she's not even scoping out where to seat our group, she's just letting groups of two and 4 in because it's easier. We're like 4 adults, 2 teens, and a baby. They also don't have high chairs btw! Not family friendly in the least. In the end, we physically scoped out the diners and tables where we could likely sit and told her which ones and she reluctantly paused letting new diners in so we could have two tables combined. This was really irritating, after having waited so long and then to feel like a nuisance to the staff, having to secure our own seats, left a very bad impression on me. Onto the food, the viral pancakes were hit or miss depending on what you ordered. My personal favorite was the creme anglaise souffle pancake, my husband's favorite was the french toast. The hamburg steak was also delicious with nice crispy thin fries. The blue moon latte was also really tasty! However, serving size was quite small, less than 8oz. I wish they offered a bigger size for this. Matcha pancakes took a very long time to make during Mother's day, it was the last plate to arrive after 15-20 minutes of everyone else's pancakes and was not as delicious as expected. Overall, the interior is super cute, cozy and elegant and I'd come back. However, I really don't recommend if you have more than 4 people or if you try to come during a special holiday. It's really inconvenient due to their reluctance in taking reservations for busier times. Either way, if you want to truly enjoy this restaurant, take some PTO and come midday on a weekday! This place is packed solid pretty often, I just wish and hope they implement a better system of reserving a table when it's busy because it's just severely inconvenient if you're elderly, disabled, or with a baby/ toddler just standing outside in the weather. Please keep that in mind if you're any of the latter and you choose this restaurant as your place to celebrate an occasion. If they could fix this issue, they'd have 5 stars all the way.
