Good food, great service! We had the stuffed mushrooms, wings, and two different sandwiches. Everything was amazing!! Update: We just had dinner there again, and service and food were both amazing! We got winds and the loaded potatoes and everything we got was DELICIOUS!!

Last visit we asked our waiter to turn down the music and he walked off saying here we go. He was rude the whole visit.

Great food! We got wings, a club sandwich, a grilled cheese sandwich a steak salad a steak sandwich, fries and onion petals. Portions are huge. Always friendly staff. Enjoyed watching the games at the bar while waiting on our food. You gotta try this place!

So, I have lived in st albans for many years and have only recently eat here. And let me tell you, this is our own little slice of heaven. I have had two different meals here in the last week, the itialian sub, and the rib and fries special. The itialian sub was probably the best I have ever had. It comes standard with a side of chips which they make in house and were just generally dispointing. The ribs and fries were top notch, while I feel the fries could have been crisper, the ribs were absolutely amazing and hands down are better then any steak house ribs I have ever had. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff is super friendly. It will definitely be a frequent stop of mine.

This place every time I come here is fantastic! The stuffed mushrooms are amazing. I will always come back great for families and sitting at the bar! Also its close to little shops on main Street so when your done you can take a walk. 10/10 this place

Love this place. It was slammed during Yakfest. You wouldn't have known it. Was in a table within 20 min and had our food in another 20min. Food was great & the staff even though tire, was super sweet. I'd recommend this place anytime.

This is a great place for family and friends. You will have a table of friends eating dinner and having drinks, and the next table will be a family with small kids....very flexible. I've never seen any problems here as far as rowdy customers...nor would it be tolerated, great food and a great deal to choose from on the menu.

Following a funeral, several family members and friends met there for a drinks and a late lunch. The staff handled this rush with grace and ease and we certainly appreciated that after a stressful morning. Definitely worth another visit.

I've had their food at different functions and it was always so good and I decided today I would stop in and see what it was all about and I'm glad I did. I got the Cafe Nachos (which I LOVED) and I wasn't sure about if I wanted corn or flour chips and I asked if they could mix them well they did better than that they gave me two separate bowls which was entirely too much to eat, but I tried. I had an outstanding waitress too as she was so gracious and also got their wings to take home which were absolutely delicious I had some of those today and I'll have some of those maybe tomorrow, I Will be back!

I just checked for restaurants near the car service. This popped up top rated. Then I looked at the menu. I love me a Rueben Sandwich. It was challenging to find on a side street. They just call it "The Cafe". Kind of a sports bar setting. It is older and dated, busy, with a cheerful atmosphere. The food was fabulous! I see why people love it. Service was reasonable. She asked if I wanted chips? Trust me you WANT the Chips. They are homemade served with a delightful sauce. The Rueben was the best I have had in years. I say the decor is dated, but it fits, and I enjoyed the down home feel. I have been coming to St. Albans because Moses does such good service on my car. Now this will be a most stop addition before I make the 50 minute drive home. You will love it!

We were seated quickly within 3 minutes of arriving. AMAZING food. Everything was fresh and tasted fantastic. The ranch especially tasted immaculate, the boneless wings were the perfect crispy to sauce ratio, the cheese fries were loaded down, the Buffalo dip had just the right kick. We will most definitely be regular customers.

My first visit to the cafe was at lunch time and it was quite busy. That being considered, the service was timely. The server was young and kind. My date I shared stuffed mushrooms as a starter. They were delicious. I was very impressed with the salad,. It was arranged beautifully and the portion was generous. The name of the salad eludes me but I have no doubt all the salads on the menu would be amazing .I look forward to trying other menu items soon.

Great food! They are always busy so if you call for take out and the line is busy they have taken the phone off the hook. You will have to walk in and place your order to go as an alternative option. But it is so worth it!

You can't go wrong at The Cafe. We've never had a bad meal or experience there and the service is always great! I had a cheeseburger and my husband had a Club.

This place has the BEST wings we’ve ever eaten! We were in the area for work when we discovered this gem and even after being across the country for 2 years we still compare every wing to theirs and none compare. I was traveling through the area last week and adjusted my schedule to allow myself to stop for lunch and to get 3 dozen wings to transport back to my husband. Also, the pulled pork nachos are amazing..half order is massive!

Ordered the main street salad and they messed it up....? Missing mozzarella cheese and black olives, had banana peppers which I specifically asked not to have. I dont understand how you miss ingredients in your own recipe...? The cook was HALARIOUS when I brought it back. They did fix the problem with no issues but I cannot get my gas $$ back 😒 it's okay though, the food is always good when it's correct (99% of the time it's correct) at the end of the day it's still a 12/10 highly recommend- I'm just picky

Friendly, casual, rustic, local bar & grill where you seat yourself. I’ve eaten here several times, usually mid afternoon. Service has always been great. The many menu items I’ve tried have been excellent, the beer has always been cold and served in a frosted mug.

I was in St Albans for National Train Day and found this place. I love the atmosphere and the food was great! It was very busy, but still a nice dining experience. I will be back when I am up there again.

We also had an appetizer of fried pickles and hamburger with fried egg. The carrot cake was delicious too.

Please, oh please, if you are in the area stop by here. I have watched these employees work tirelessly, running in circles to serve all the patrons. The food is beyond DELICIOUS, the staff kind and courteous, and you seriously cannot beat the prices. This is an amazing place as a couples night out, GNO, or bring the babies.

One of the few places that the food is always consistent. Been eating there for over 10 years. The coldest beer around too. Wings are the biggest and best tasting I have ever eaten. Took a dozen home last night to eat while watching Moto GP racing today! Keep up the good work.

It was suggested by a colleague of mine to come and try River's Edge Cafe and I am so glad that I did. The location is nice, the food is really great, prices are reasonable and the service was also great. It was an excellent experience all the way around. I have ended up coming here several times after the first time and I couldn't recommend it more. They have a great fish sandwich too.

Went here for lunch with family from out of town. I had the Pittsburgh steak salad. It was delicious! My family all enjoyed their meals from salads to burgers. The server was very nice and made you tonstop by several times to make sure we had everything we needed. It's a little bit loud inside and the fans were blowing right on us so we had to keep hold of all our napkins, etc. It was hard to talk amongst each other due to the noise. They had a steady stream of customers at lunch on a Tuesday. Parking is limited. Prepare to walk a block or two which was not a big deal for us. I was able to stop in front and drop off my disabled family member without causing an issue.

This place is a gem, and the prices are incredibly affordable, especially for the quality you get! ​I decided to try the Build Your Own Burger, and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. I topped it with ketchup, mustard, mayo, provolone, and sautéed peppers and onions—it was one of the best burgers I've had in ages. ​My sides were just as great: the curly fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the cup of cabbage soup was warm, comforting, and full of flavor. ​Honestly, everything we ordered was amazing, and the staff was great—attentive and friendly. We absolutely love this place and have eaten here many times! We had ordered for takeout on this occasion and it was still killer when having a 20 minute drive home. There salads are my favorite and you have to get the house dressing which is a creamy French dressing with blue cheese crumples. I love the old main salad which is with ham and turkey and also their steak salad with french fries is amazing when topped with blue cheese dressing... it's always perfect! We always get their wings dipped and grilled which makes them fantastic. My husband had a burger and this is one of his favorite places to go. He loves to get an egg on his Burger which has been customized. You seriously can't go wrong with this place! Anything that you try on the menu will love

Great wings and good service. Have been placing pick up orders since this whole covid thing which is worth the drive. Overall one of the best places around. Only issue is that parking sucks at times. They never answer the phone. Think they leave it off the hook on the weekends.

This is definitely one of the best places to eat and hangout in the area. Burgers are great, most of the sandwiches are great as well. French fries are great depending on what day of the week you go. Look at what other people are getting, if they’re dark in color order chips, rings, tots, or curly fries. Their wings are awesome, grilled are the best. Personally I do not like their mild wing sauce though, I get hot. My mom loves Thai chili. My parents love their pizza but I’m not a fan. They use a pre-made crust that tastes like a cheep frozen pizza. Beer selection is minimal but adequate. I do have a major complaint about this place. They have a touch tunes, yet the old people that visit complain to the point they turn the music down so low you cant even tell it’s on. A bar with no music? Seriously?

It was a busy evening with college basketball going on, so I get why it was busy. However, if the servers were a bit more attentive, that would have gone a long way. Good food and usually good service. Be sure to go when it's a little slower.

Head the fish sandwich, which was good. Home made chips were over fried but they were ok. Atmosphere is local river rat, which you should expect from the name. People, both customers and staff were both friendly. Comfortable, non-pretentious place to be.

Only BAD THING I can say is we called ahead to ask specifically did they have handicapped entrance, they said YES, and once we got there, there were steps you had to go up, with NO HANDICAPPED entrance whatsoever! Luckily few guy customers helped literally lift me up stairs so I could get in. God bless those guys who helped me! This is why WV people are the best imo! Great food though!

Went in on Thursday this week 4.15 pm . Order prime rib dinner to go. Got the 18.95 special was nice prime rib, salad baked, potatoes, green beans and all the extra things that come with it. Did a top job on the dinner really really good food. Got everything to go just right. They have very good staff of people working for them. You must try their meals. 4 stars all the way. Friendly place. Very noisy! Beer was ice cold and served in chilled glass mugs. We had chicken wings. They were we'll done. Ordered 10 wings. All 12 were flats. I like the flats but my wife is a drum person and she was disappointed. Waitress said there were no drums because people had requested drums earlier and none were left.

Love this place--met my gorgeous husband here! But also very popular & we waited an hour and a half to be seated one night when we didn't call ahead for a large party last Friday night. We were celebrating my friends' engagement, and they had to work withing the confines of proper social distancing (so they WERE being responsible, at least.) Food is fantastic & atmosphere fun, even if the music is a little loud on the weekends.

I can only comment on takeout as it's all I've had, but the bourbon siracha wings have me wanting to dine in! A family member often orders them so we tried a large takeout order recently. I will say, the bourbon siracha is my favorite and the medium wings were a bit bland, so I'll ask for extra sauce next time The fries and sides portions are also quite large and the fries are very good. The online menu is out of date as far as prices (by a lot). Please fix that. But we'll definitely be back!

Wings were very good but the wait was a little long for a pizza. Only giving a 4 stars rating cause we waited for a long time at the front without any severs/hosts to seat us. No one even would look as us or even give us a brief “we’ll be right with you”. There were plenty of seats open at the time and clean tables so I wasn’t sure what the issue was exactly. Kinda weird. There was a sign saying “wait to be seated” upfront as you walk in but I kinda expected someone to come over and give us a estimated time or something at least. No one talked to us until we decided to go to a empty table ourselves. The waiter we had was very nice and fast to get our drinks and everything else. So it was overall a good experience once we got seated.

Placed order for carry out. The portions are big, food is good. They do need to update the menu online though. According to the menu, my order should’ve been $21 before tax. When I picked up my order, it was $34. I asked the bartender about the price difference, he said that no one wants to fool with to updating it. The menu really needs updated so that people aren’t shocked when the bill is at least $10 more than expected!

The food smells and tastes amazing! First time here and a must go from here on out! They have a fire brick oven and a bar section. And a great varieties of food and drinks. It is a little crowded and the whole place was bustling, however it was filled with laughter and a great place to relax.

The Mesquite Chicken sandwich and curly fries was excellent. Only downside was the very limited spirits and beer menu, just the basics.

Place is still one of the best for wings! Service has taken a hit lately, some new waitresses with little/no experience and was evident yesterday for wing special day. Will come back but will request NOT to be seated in her section.

The staff is usually very friendly. Their food used to be better. The hamburger is still very good!! The ruben was better b4 they changed it, it's now smaller w/less corned beef and the thousand island dressing is nothing special now. Their pizza was once great now it's just good. I would have preferred they raise their prices instead of lowering the quality of some of their food items!!

I wish I could give this place a higher rating. The food is good however they have the most RUDEST people working there. Everyone understands busy hours and wait times but the waiters and servers are down right ignorant. Today I went to place an order to go , when I asked for a menu a waiter threw literally threw a menu at me. Then when I went to tell the server what I wanted to motioned her hand for me to wrap it up (hurry up). Again the food is good but it’s not the wonderful for poor service.

Food is good. Best wings in the valley. Service though… this is the problem with the place. I understand that it gets busy and crowded. Sometimes people will have to wait for well over half an hour. But let me tell you. The wait staff has no reason to speak to customers with in the tone they do. There is one waitress that has been there for too long. She has no patience when there is a mistake on an order and instantly takes it out on the customer. It's a wonder she has a job. If this young lady worked for me I would fire her in a heartbeat and replace her with a person that cares for the customers. In short, if you feel the need to be ignored, abused, and generally treated like less than a person make sure you get a table in the section "serviced" by this person.

I’ve been here numerous times over the past few years. The menu seems to always stay the same :( The food is pretty bland and pretty much your run of the mill bar food. Nothing stands out. The atmosphere is what makes the place. It has a nice staff and seems to have a high energy to it. If you are looking for a good place with cold beer ( not much local or craft ) and a good atmosphere, it’s a good spot. Looking for dinner to please the pallet, maybe this isn’t the place.

I'm not saying the food wasn't good, but I am saying that the price almost doubled for the Pepper Jack Cheese Squares and the portion was way less than half the number. They were also much smaller. I won't order them again. Price was $5.95 and now $8.49.

Been going here for years. Drinks are great! Decided to order takeout tonight for a change. I ordered 3 frame salads and 3 orders of wings. $81! The prices on the menus online are blacked out but the menu I looked at to order had prices. I guess I understand why the menu prices were blacked out. Prices went up! Not sure why boneless wing prices are the same as bone in. And I'm not sure what is up with St.albans charging extra to use a card. And they charged us to go fees. I understand doing that during covid but not now. Our containers were covered in various sauces and finger prints. Disappointed.

Very average. Had the steak sandwich as a wrap. Not a Subway fan but subway would have been a better choice. Ordered the shrimp bangers and the crab stuffed mushrooms. Bangers were common frozen calabash style - just a bit bigger than popcorn. The mushrooms were absolutely amazing. Generally most places offerings are watery - not these. I am thankful for these saving lunch. The server was very attentive and service oriented.

Stopped in after long day working, to grab a bite before returning to work. Parked at cellar door and went up to dine. Unaware I had to check in. Waitress offered menu n drink. Before she could get back to me, I was approached by another person who asked if she could help me, she seemed a little agitated. I told her I had a server and thanked her. She quickly informed me I couldn't sit there because I had not checked in. Not sure what else to do, I left. The Waitress was sweet and understanding. Others were coming up the stairs as I left, so I warned them to be sure they checked in at the front door. I felt embarrassed and a bit dismissed. I would suggest a note on downstairs entrance asking folks to please check in. On a side note, I had never been there, had no clue, and probably will not return.

The food was ok but my food got cold & the slaw was warm. They thought we only ordered 1 meal but we ordered 2. So mine was just sitting there while they made my husband's food. If the food was hot & the slaw was cold & the fries wasn't hard or soggy it would've been much better. We wanted to try something different but I think I've already made my mind up not to be back.

Food was good overall, although a well done burger should be just that…no pink. Didn’t send it back to redo because it did take a while to receive food on a busy Saturday. Biggest complaint here is when paying the check. I paid cash due to fees being charged for payment with credit card. Total check with tax wound up being $33.33 so I put out 40 dollars. Problem #1 was server asked me if I wanted change back which should never be asked. I politely said yes and when she returned I was brought back $6.00 no other change (problem #2 kept .67) . I hope management sees this review and has a talk with servers about what to do and not when it comes to tips. I left an additional $5.00 and would have left a little more had it not been for the thievery that went on with my change. There was another couple with us and the server did the same with bringing their change.

There was no visible sign that stated we needed to seat ourselves, and we waited for a server to seat us for about 10 mins before a customer told us that we seat ourselves, even though multiple servers walked by us standing there looking and waiting. It was difficult io find a seat because people had sat themselves all spread out and not according to their party size, and when we found a one , we realized that two different songs were playing at once, one on the juke box and one over the main speakers. This was odd and off putting. Once seated a server came to greet us and was friendly. I ordered a Long Island but it was terrible. It tasted just like the cheap sweet and sour mix and liquor. I will say they didn’t skimp on the alcohol which was nice, just wish it didn’t taste gross. I ordered wine instead. The food took a while but wasn’t bad. I liked the friend mushrooms. Overall just okay. Has potential but disorganized and doesn’t seem concerned with quality food or drink.

The service is bad unless you bring a group, waiters don't greet you or even ask if need a menu. After 3 waiters passed my table I finally ask one for a menu, which he never acknowledged. The guy was a muscle head looking weight lifter. Finally, Josh who has waited on me before ask if I had been helped? And he took care of me the time I was there. Good food and cheap beer. But it's not self service....

Our server was very pleasant and apologized for each mistake, but she had a lot of apologizing to do. Four of us ate supper. My order was correct and it was the only one. My husband ordered a salad and pizza. The salad had the wrong dressing and she forgot the pizza. The other couple with us got the wrong sandwich for one and the wrong drink for the other. And no one got silverware until. I got it from the hostess. Very pleasant, just not well put together.

My wife and grandson wanted McDs but I wanted the Cafe. My wife and grandson got a better meal. My fries were soggy, my burger was burnt with an old bun and the stuffed mushrooms were dry. I paid twice as much for a meal that wasn't as good as fast food.

We had wings which were highly recommended by tons of friends. They got our order wrong but gave us a 3.00 credit off boneless wings. The wings were good the sauce wasn't all that. We probably won't go back, especially because they made me sick and to add the wings I had at bww the week before we're better. Very disappointed.

Had the steak salad. The lettuce was old and fries were soaked in grease. When I asked to talk to someone about it at first she was defensive about it but then corrected it by removing it from the bill. Don't feel treated very well by server after that.

Well, I didn't expect to spend over an hour at this place, but here we are...unapologetically slow. We sat waiting for nearly 40 minutes for two sandwiches while people around us ate within 20. I understand a lunch rush, but the waitress basically shrugged. There was no explanation and basically no apology given. Also their fries are terrible and they're apparently very aware of it. I like to support local businesses in my community, but we will not be back.

This will be our last time coming here. If you don't have 1-1.5 hours to blow, don't bother. Too slow !!! Wings were room temperature like they sat back there for a while before being brought out. Bacon on my burger was half raw. This place pretty much sucks. Try your luck if you dare. This is not a one time thing.

Everything was cold and barely edible. The cold fries were like next day reheated and my coagulated cold cheeseburger, which I thought couldn't go wrong, went straight in the box. Based on other reviews, my experience was an outlier, but for dine-in, we shouldn't get take-out quality P.s. No children's drink options for a 5 year old , despite 4 children's menu items. When asked about juice, milk, or lemonade, Sprite was suggested.

Had wings 12 piece. Wings were lukewarm. Waffle fries were soggy and not done to a crisp. Service here is sketchy. They can do a good burger and a few other sandwiches but their wings are a disappointment.

My Lunch was $33.69 Cheese Burger had no taste Ordered Chicken Tenders received 4 small kiddie size they call it. They were Hard as rocks. Reuben Sandwich bread soggy Fries, do not order their fries they were soggy with grease dripping out of them. I called this order in they answered promptly and order was right. Picked up order was serviced right away at the payment counter. Atmosphere could use a pick me up dull, dark, dreary. This was my order from a couple of weeks ago. Went in and placed order. Fish Sandwich didn't like bun Club Sandwich really good but a lot of it Ham & Cheese Sandwich good but too much of it. Homemade Chips soggy and clumped together. Would be better off buying a bag of chips.

3/15/24. The wait is too long. I watched people sit down and leave because nobody attended to them. I got the boneless "wings" and they greatly disappointed. They were actually chicken strips that they cut into pieces and they charge $15 for 12 cut up pieces. Also this greedy restaurant owner charges you a processing fee to pay your bill and don't even tell you until you see it on the final receipt after they bring back your card. The prices are high and then on top of that they smack you with a greedy fee. This fee might as well be a percentage of the electricity bill or property fees because that's what bank card fees are: the cost of running a business. Cards are a convenient for restaurants as well as customers. Cards enable customers to be able to spend more than a certain amount of cash they withdrawal from the atm. This is a BIG plus for the restaurant especially a bar restaurant like Rivers Edge where alcohol prices and expensive entrees can really stack up. Why make us foot your entire 3% card fee? Why not half and half at the most(1.5%) because you the restaurant benefit greatly from us having our banks in our pockets so we can do any time without going to the bank first and we don't have a certain amount of cash to use. We have the ability to say we want to splurge spontaneously and spend more than usual. And this restaurant thanks their customer by charging them a fee. Thanks but no thanks. Our family of 5 ate here this afternoon. This was our 2nd time. First time everything was excellent.Today was a completely different experience. The hostess was very friendly when she seated us. It took our waitress a little while to come take our order for drinks and an appetizer after we had been seated. My seat was facing the door and could see people coming and going. The wait time for our appetizer was unusually high. The waitress never smiled or seemed friendly. We ended up waiting way over an hour for our order. I saw people who had arrived after us, get served and then leave before we ever got our meal. We didn’t have an opportunity to ask about the excessive wait time because our waitress did not check on us regularly. The food was good. The service was really bad. I doubt I will ever return. I have read several reviews on this restaurant. There doesn’t seem to be any response to good or bad reviews. That’s a shame and a missed opportunity to make it right on the bad reviews. I really enjoy giving local small businesses my business. Oh well.

Drove 45 minutes to eat here and was looking forward to trying it out. Food was decent. The service was not good at all. The server kyndra checked on us once or twice the entire two hours we waited, refills were hard to come by. Other tables with different waitresses came and went in the time it took to get our food with similar sized parties. She was not very friendly and never acknowledged the long wait. We even saw another table she was supposed to take care of, get seated and they never were even asked for their drinks and left due to the lack of service. Very doubtful we will come back. Experience would have likely been much better with a different server

Went to eat here this afternoon with my family and after placing an order we wait over an hour to receive our food while people who came in at the same time or after us were served and left. A large party came in at the same time as us and they were all served and boxing up leftovers before we got our food. Our waitress Kyndra checked on us once throughout and was not friendly. We had to ask another waitress for refills because our waitress never came back until the food was ready. We were not apologized to for the long wait and were told the kitchen was backed up despite other people continuing to get their food. The food was good, the service was terrible. Very disappointed as I was so excited to eat here.
