Great place
Welcome to the neighborhood!!
Delicious pizza and poutine
I really like this brewery! The staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is great. I also love the selection of drinks.
The food was great! I expected the beer to be good, but it was even better than I expected; I was still pleasantly surprised by how smooth it was. Try it out!
Visited Albany for a weekend and by far the best beer we had. Nice variety of beers, and I especially liked the snowy night double stout.
The side room is so bright and airy! I highly recommend the Citra Session and pepperoni pizza.
Tons of different beers/styles on tap. Can get flights! Both pizzas we tried were great
Loved their beers and food! We love their other location so very happy they opened a location closer to me!
This is our go-to spot every time we go to the MVP arena. We absolutely love it here, the beer is delicious, and the service is fantastic!
Space is still beautiful and the beer selection is expanded with Common Roots in the building
Great people, nice atmosphere. And great beer
Great place highly recommend!! Great business very personable
Awesome place. Great beer. Wish I lived closer.
Great food, great beer, and super nice and friendly staff.
Nicely redone. Didn't have food just a couple of beers, which are always good.
Great beer selection and awesome Pizza.
Food was good. Beer was great!
Love the outpost, so spacious and comfortable
Some of the best IPAs in Upstate
Love the beer and the ambiance
If you like stouts or porters this place has (at the time of our visit) 7 options, and all of them are good. For this area, which seems flooded with IPAs, this is a welcomed change. The other varieties of beer are vast. They do flights, so you can try them. 5 stars for the beers , 3 stars for the rest. The food was ok but not great, and the service is walk up and order yourself.
Way better than Pump Station in the waning years. Great selection of beers, good music playing in the background, friendly bar atmosphere. Don't skip it
Great Beer on Tap. Double Cup all the way, followed by a Snowy Night...
Highly recommend spending a Saturday or happy hour here! Awesome beer selection, great food and service, and love both inside and outside seating options. Looking forward to visiting again!
Had a great experience at Common Roots Albany Outpost! The flight of beer delicious and Patrick's extra special customer service and shared tasting of Double Cup, much appreciated. His conversation and passion for beer was second to none!
Awesome atmosphere and great beers! I got a hazy IPA and my buddy got a flight. Id love to go back with a board game and spend some more time here.
So nice they came to Albany. Great beer, some of the best. Menu good. Stop by.. slowly bringing great beer from Glenns falls.
To the guy who talked to the cook and had him make me the Drunken Chicken sandwich with the Nashville chicken - thank you! Thing was absolutely delicious, albeit almost too spicy for me
I've been coming here for a while now even back when it was the pump station. I've always loved the ambience of the place. And common roots is keeping up with that tradition, the same vibes, with equally delicious beers on tap. They also give you a little bit of a deal if you're heading over to an event at Empire live which is just a cherry on top.
Came to enjoy happy hour with a few colleagues last Wednesday. It was a stellar experience! The staff are all fantastic - we especially enjoyed talking to one gentleman, Patrick. It's clear how much he prides in delivering exceptional service! The drinks are great, the food delicious, and it's easy to enjoy in large groups! Most definitely recommend to anyone!
food and atmosphere were wonderful, I will definitely come again, thank you.
First thing worth noticing - bathrooms are really clean and nice. That stood out to me. Beer was delicious. Had 2 stouts and tasted 2 NEIPAs from my wife. Coconut pastry stout was wonderful and by far my favorite. Beef was delightful. 4 beers overall I would say are 8/10. Had the brussel sprouts with grilled chicken and tasted the balsamic vinaigrette pesto pizza from the wife. Food was delightful. Really enjoyed my experience here. Highly recommend. Make sure you use the bathroom.
Common Roots Albany Outpost is such a great spot. They graciously helped us to throw a celebration party for a large volunteer group and they were wonderful to work with. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is really beautiful and overall it's just a great spot to hand out! We will be back many, many times!
Wonderful afternoon sampling seltzers and beer. Try the 3 B's knees pizza...highly recommend. Our bartender was both attentive and friendly, as was the rest of the staff. Plenty of parking, which is pricey and NOT controlled by Common Roots.
Stopped in a few weeks back on a whim when some family was in town, thought it was risky going to a brand new place with them but came here anyway and it ended up being great. We enjoyed every beer that we tried in our flights, which is rare, and the Buffalo chicken wrap met our western NY expectations! Also had the pleasure of meeting Patrick, never met anybody more passionate about their work and knowledgeable about beer than him.
This is a really cool space. The back room is amazing for parties. The food is so good. The brussel sprout pizza is to die for. Lots of beer choices. You must visit when in town.
Food 10/10!! Must get: poutine! It was sooo good! Beer & cider also fantastic (cider donut cider is amazing!), atmosphere and staff super great. Shout out to Andrew! ☺️ 🍻
Although I submitted a review for this place over a year ago (even got a response from the owners) Google keeps asking for another. Great space with a wonderful selection of really good beers. Haven't tried one I didn't like. The menu is standard pub fare but with some really interesting and delicious interpretations. This will be a regular stop for us whenever we're in, or passing through, the Albany area.
I wish I didn't live up the northway in Clifton Park, cuz I would love to come here more often. Parking is the only annoyance in that you have to use an app. But food and beer are wonderful and very reasonably priced. The owners and their staff are wonderful. Service is always great.
We attended a 50th birthday party here with a murder mystery theme. Seated with a small group of about 25 people to space was lined with Breck and adorned with 1920s era paintings on the walls and an open industrial layout within a brewery space. Balcony overlooked a more traditional restaurant Eatery down below but are catered area felt like Upper Room Penthouse royalty. Server staff was warm welcoming extremely professional and wildly proficient. The service and attention was top rate and not a detail was out of place. We had a mashup of delicious salads some kind of a slider burger with great toppings like pickles crispy onions and mushrooms with an array of delicious sauces. A few Pizza options were all spectacular and the drink menu was vast. I personally had an in-house brewed non-alcoholic beer. Actually I had a few, they were enjoyable and In every way and indistinguishable from adult beverage brethren.
Came down for the Big Gay Market (fun, cool) and stayed for the beers. Great service at the bar, very patient and helpful. The food was fresh and FAST, and quite tasty! Highly recommend
Went before a show at the palace theater so of course it was utterly packed and slightly chaotic but overall great. Food was on point and servers were friendly and attentive. When you go in you order at the bar/order area then take your number and find a seat... That's the hard part on a night like tonight! Of course they just open so I am sure they will get the hang of faster kitchen orders soon but again food was fresh, great, and all came out correctly. We will definitely be back!
Lots of craft beer here. Great space. Service was great. Took a client here for lunch. The menu is basic. No real standouts here. A good variety of meal options that come out quickly. I ordered the Nashville chicken. Overall a good sandwich. It was not spicy at all and could have used a little more seasoning. I would try it again and add hot sauce. My client had a smash burger. He said it was good, but a little dry. Possibly cooked a little long. Overall a good experience for a place that is new. I will update on the next visit.
The decoration of the building is totally industrial, wonderful, the service and the food were excellent, we loved the taste of the IPA beer, the burgers and the pizza, I will visit you again with the family, congratulations. The person who served us was very special in helping us select the beers with his recommendations.
Was thrilled that one of my favorite brewpubs finally opened a location closer to home. Came here on a Friday and lines for food and beer were incredibly long. If you didnt order food by 530 you didn't get it till 8pm. However, the food was the same quality and flavor I've come to expect from common roots. Im also happy the coconut snowy mounds was FINALLY AVAILABLE in cans! Keep up the good work, hoping to visit again once you get used to the Albany pacing.
Saw this spot coming off the freeway so we decided to stop. Nice spot. Service was good. Can’t wait to come back in the summer.
Had a great lunch visit. The beers are fantastic and the Supreme pizza was delicious. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend giving it a visit.
Had a delicious Not So Common burger and fries. Great selection of beer. Good service at the bar. Snowy Night Coconut beer was delicious.
Easily found a seat at the bar as soon as I walked in. The bartender Nick was super friendly and knowledgeable about the beer menu and the 4 beers he suggested for my flight were all perfect. The food was also very delicious and I will definitely be coming back soon.
It’s a cool place with delicious Common Roots beer and the tasty food you’re familiar with at their home restaurant.
A nice phoenix birth of craft brewery in downtown Albany. Does flights with pub cuisine of higher quality. Staff is friendly and informative. Parking issues that need to be addressed.
Came here for a date night. Sat at the bar. Haven't been here since it was the Pump station a few years back. It's awesome! Great customer service. I tried poutine for the first time and it was delicious! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and staff.
Great food, extensive beer selection! Also, hard cider and coffee available.

Cool brew pub type establishment that has another location in South Glens Falls. The tacos, burger and chicken crispies were fantastic fare before the Lettuce show at Empire Live! Our server was cool as a cucumber, he appeared to be filling multiple roles that night, he did a nice job. We did not have any of their beers so I can't comment on them, but they sure looked delicious. We'd go back again for sure!

Hot day there was no AC, my friend was not happy. But other wise is was great . The beer is awesome
The food was much better, however the picnic tables are a total turn off. Hope that booths and real tables return
Wow The menu looks really cool; wish it opened til 11pm at least. Hopefully in the near future maybe?
dark beer for men lol not this hippy dippy west coast ipa b.s
Be weary of parking... Cause there is none. Seriously, there's no parking
The food is ok, however the fries are very oily, the hard seltzer they have on tap has been very flat now twice and was long to pour. My friend didn’t really like a Pilsner that she had. The space is beautiful though and the staff are all very nice.
Love the space, location, and variety of beer. From there, for me personally, it goes downhill. No dedicated parking so expect to pay the meters or get a ticket. 98% of their beer comes in 13 ounce pours. I asked and was given a vague answer about experience and smell/tase rather than the normal abv differences. A 5 % beer should be a pint. I fully understand imperial and high abv's. Just seems like a money grab. Cannot comment of the taste of the food but rather the lack of offerings, specifically for vegans. The veggie burger has egg, the fries and chips are vegetarian not vegan, and even the mustard for the pretzel (which I'm assuming has butter) has egg in it! Why does mustard need egg?!? Really want this place to work and last as it's close to work for me and downtown albany and love the vibe...but not sure how often I'll be a patron because of the lack of food offerings and other options in the area.
I always did like common roots beer and the Glens Falls location. But what really irked me was paying for parking, even on a weekend day. Other than that, it's a cool place, and the food menu did get a little better.
The only reason we didn’t give it a 5 is because the burger was a thin patty. Service, atmosphere, beer, and other food were fantastic!!!
The beer was great! Had to send the pizza back, it was raw on the bottom.

Mid food from what I and friends have had. Prices are fine, service is good
The only thing dragging down our otherwise fun evening was the quality of our food. Beers and service were excellent.
We were so excited to try this place but the parking situation was ridiculous. Walked in just to see if it was worth the effort. The bar staff was friendly but it was a very low energy vibe. We may come back and park on the street but ended up at Fidens. Hoping for the best for this place as Albany needs more cool breweries.
As expected, the beer was great. However, the kitchen fumbled the ball. It took 60 minutes for the food to arrive, then it was cold, so I assume it sat out for 50 minutes. On balance, I’m glad a cool place is in the neighborhood. Lots of potential though. Hopefully they iron out the kinks.
Underwhelming experience. I miss the Pump Station. Common Roots menu is small and very limited. Food is not impressive. I'm not a fan of counter service, eapecially in a reataurant this huge. Beer is good.
Bartenders were great, miserable server with the bandana was rude because of another server taking our order number flag off the table before all of our food was delivered.
The vibe was cool. Shared a couple flights and some food with friends. The beer and food were good but the food came out cold. Beer was reasonably priced but food was priced higher than expected (burger + fries = $20). The parking lot is also owned by someone else and requires payment (not sure how much). There is free street parking in the area if you are willing to walk 5 minutes.
The place is nice but the menu is small. I got a burger and it came as a smash burger which it did not say anywhere on the menu, $20 for a smash burger and french fries is a little high. My wife got a chicken sandwich that she didn't like and didn't finish. We would not go back. The waitress also said all their burgers are smash burgers. Don't go there looking for a juicy burger.
The pizza crust was like cardboard. I paid 3 extra dollars for cauliflower crust, and it's always good when I get it elsewhere. Also you will have to pay for parking. I would not go back. The atmosphere and staff were nice.
Chicken bites were cold. Pizza soggy. Beer good. Could have bought common roots from grocery store and made my own meal. Would have saved money.
Beer is really good, but the food menu is small and of mediocre quality for the price. The table vs counter service is confusing - they need to pick one. Overall wish it was more like their Glens Falls location in terms of vibes and food quality. It feels like they’re not trying as hard here. I’m glad they were able to continue operations in this building but don’t expect the same table service or food substantialness as the pump station. PARKING NOTE FOR OTHERS: the lot under the bridge in the back is only free on Sundays! (Yes, Albany would like to collect money, deter city visitors, and charge on Saturdays)

Great selection of beers but food offerings are poor. Buddy and I both ordered the Brussels sprouts bowl and it was the blandest dish. It was a large quantity but quality was sub par. Zero taste and it seemed like they were simply boiled with zero crispness to it. Wish they had a more dynamic menu for brunch / lunch since I left disappointed food wise. Also it’s ridiculous that parking is $5.45 for two hours.
Unfortunately not what the Albany Pump Station used to be. If they list they're open until 9pm you'd think food would be served until at least 8:30pm, not the case, 8pm cutoff. Limited bar accompaniments, which I understand beer is their specialty but the lack of other options was disappointing. The parking situation is atrocious, which I know is likely something they inherited but it was definitely disappointing to have to pay to park in a half empty parking lot on a slow Tuesday night. Lastly, no one we encountered was rude per se but we definitely didn't receive welcoming, hospitable energy. For the first time at this "new", rebranded location we will likely not be returning.
The most bland meal I’ve ever eaten outside of a hospital. The world’s most tasteless fried chicken sandwich. The coleslaw had zero seasoning. Did they run out of pepper?
I will not choose to go back in spite of the atmosphere and beer which was fine, much like the old Pump Station. The reason is that they want you to pay for a parking spot before you go in. The additional fees each business comes up with are getting insulting. This is an old industrial area with plenty of parking and I have never paid for parking in this large restaurant parking lot before or anywhere else for that matter. Not right at all!
The beer was decent. The food was okay. We were there at 9:00 p.m. on a Friday night, and there were several mice running around the dining area.
You have to pay for parking, so stupid given the location. Fidens is just down the street and has better beer and free parking.
Beer was excellent and food was awful. Got a buffalo chicken pizza and it was overly salty because of the Asiago cheese/blue cheese. The chicken on it was dark meet with no buffalo flavor. Will not be going back
A very nice, warm place…much cleaner than its predecessor. A very limited menu so you would think those few options would be excellent. The food was overwhelmingly greasy. We had a smash burger and a chicken sandwich. Both had grease running down our hands and arms with the first bite. The smash burger was unevenly cooked-pink in some areas.
Had a luncheon there on a hot day, place is like an oven. AC is non-existent. Not fit to be in. Food was OK, staff was excellent. Poor chef in the kitchen must have been cooked it was soooo hot! Pricey too, over $900 for 14 adults and 3 children. Pizza, tacos and a few drinks!
I have never been to a restaurant that didn’t have onion… For the hamburgers. Server said we don’t carry that. Then we ordered a cup of tea… We don’t carry tea. Blue burger was inedible and thin on a ridiculously big bun. Will not be going back.

This place is no Albany pump Station. Chips and dip is literally potato chips and some kind of dipping sauce. Total disappointment. Drive on by.
Thos should not be on food pantry, or this place will be shut down
This place is totally different since they changed and went so down hill. Menu is horrible, service is bad, and you still have to pay to park. Also they got rid of all the booths
Honestly place wasn’t bad, the one thing that really ruined the night was the server with the short blonde hair. Her attitude towards my group was just terrible for no reason. After asking a few simple questions she started getting all disrespectful towards us and that just ruined the experience.
We never got a chance to even taste the food as the waitress “Savanna “ the short haired blonde with an edge, I mean her hair was cool but her demeanor left ALOT to be desired. She was incredibly rude and disrespectful. Just because we asked about different toppings on pizza ! She obviously, was having a bad shift. I do understand that this does happen, however, I was not doing anything to make her day any worse. I honestly could not believe I and my friend were treated this way at a restaurant where you want to relax, enjoy food in a non toxic environment. Savanna is a toxic person who needs to find another profession. I will never go to this establishment again if they hire people who treat rhe customers this way. It doesn’t help that you have to pay 5 dollars to park there.
I am a big fan of Common Roots Beers but this location is not going to last long. Albany Pump Station was an original spot with solid food options and traditional restaurant flair including full service. Common Roots has removed that flair by removing full service while prices have not gone down. The food is mediocre at best. Add the fact that parking is a disaster. After $65 for a Pizza, sandwich and 2 beers, we found a $40 parking ticket on the car. While that’s not in Common Root’s court, it is a definite detractor from going there on a weekend. Mayor Kathy Sheehan must be desperate to charge for parking after 7 PM on a weekend. Ridiculous to the 10th degree! Sad to see another reason to avoid Downtown Albany.
Walked in, shown to a table and ignored. Waited 10 minutes.... walked out. Nice Pub next door. Was greeted and my order taken almost immediately. ----------------------------------- You asked for a response, so here it is... I was at the Hyatt next door on Fri Oct 11th and wanted dinner & a drink. At about 8 PM, I walked into your establishment and was greeted by the hostess.I remarked that it seemed very noisy so she placed me at a table on the right side near the kitchen window. It was not busy in the dining area. There were only a few occupied tables between the tanks/bar and the kitchen window. She gave me the menus and left. After making my selections for a drink & meal, I put down the menus and waited. Nothing. No staff except for a lone waitress who made a few trips to the kitchen window next to me. The hostess walked around, spent some time at the bar but did not approach me. I looked for a waitress but there was nobody. After 10 minutes, I spotted the hostess, made a sign that I had been waiting uselessly and walked out.
I was looking forward to eating here based on the great reviews, but was majorly disappointed. We stopped in after the CrossFit Games, fully understanding they might be busier than usual. We ordered three pizzas—two cauliflower crust, one regular—and waited an hour and a half with no food in sight. When we checked in, multiple servers told us they had “no clue when anything was coming out.” Since we had a long drive ahead, we decided to pay for our drinks and cancel the pizzas. Unfortunately, the female bartender’s rudeness, hostility, and snarky remarks were shocking. We approached the situation calmly and apologetically, but she escalated it, arguing as though we were inconveniencing her for simply canceling an order that likely would’ve taken two hours to arrive. I understand places get busy, but two hours for food with zero communication is unreasonable. What could have been an easy, respectful exit turned into an unprofessional and unpleasant experience.
The food was ok. However, the server with short blonde hair was extremely rude and disrespectful toward me and my group. I understand everyone has bad days but doesn’t excuse this. I asked a question regarding the seating and was treated assaulted with passive aggressive/overall rude remarks. She then followed up later in the night by not serving us at the bar meanwhile staring right at us and giving dirty looks to me and my friends. Overall not worth the hassle. The food is not worth the way you will be treated!
We have been sitting here for 50 minutes with 4 kids waiting for our food. We're supposed to go to a hockey game at the MVP. We froze and were greeted by a very disagreeable male host. We will never come back.
