Great brewery, awesome beers, staff, and patrons.
Good beer, fun games, great atmosphere.
Best peanut butter stout I've had anywhere! If you like dark beer, you have to try it
Loved the atmosphere! Family friendly, great beer!! Awesome friendly staff! Cant wait to go back!
Very good beer. The ipa’s are local favorites, but the stout and light ale were even better.
Stopped by with the wife and very much enjoyed the place. Amazing beers and atmosphere. Definitely going back again.
Good atmosphere and great beer. What more could you ask for..oh yeah, food was wonderful too
Great place for some great beer! People were friendly and they had a great food truck!
Great beer and a wonderful, family-friendly vibe and atmosphere. Love the idea to “beer it forward”. 🍻

Great bartender. Rhi was really busy but served with a smile!
Great people and great beer!! Will be coming in for some cans soon!
Nice brewery. Great service. The craft was delicious!
Great beers. Good service. We have been back over and over.
They're doing as well as they can in the i|mediate post-quarantine world, with lots of spaced out tables out front. They're definitely trying to do good on that front.
Awesome beer, great atmosphere, and fantastic people!
We always enjoy the beer, and the owners are wonderful.
Such an amazing Atmosphere an amazing staff. We will be back soon thanks again
Lots of fun, can bring kids and the beer is outstanding!
Checked it out on opening night and, I must say, it was one of the best beers I've had in a long time! I've been raving about the beer to anyone who will listen. By far my favorite was Mo-Mentum! The space is great too -- lots of tables and a place to belly up to the bar. The servers behind the bar were great and knowledgeable too. Great place -- great beer -- highly recommend! 5 Stars!!
A new favorite brewery. Stopped in on a drive through Albany and was very pleasantly surprised by this brewery. Delicious IPAs, lots of variety, smooth and well balanced. Also had a tasty peanut butter stout that smelled so good I thought it was a jar of PB. The space is great, friendly staff and you can try all 10 beers in one flight!
Dog friendly place with an industrial vibe. Good selection and variety of locally brewed beers in downtown Albany.
Great service and brews. Had the orange sour which was exceptional. The fruit infused IPA was ok, but the NEIPAs are worth coming back for. They had outside seating with a food truck as well as large tables and a bar in the tasting room.
It was a fun brewery and service was good. The bartenders were very friendly and made our visit more enjoyable. The beer was also very good with plenty of options.
We went to the brewery for a private event and we were so impressed. The beer selection was great and they had a local vodka cocktails available as well. Clean brewery, clean bathrooms, and very friendly staff. They even had cards on hand for us to use.
Not being a big IPA beer drinker I have opened my horizon to give it more of a chance. Honestly, I am enjoying lots of different kinds and always look forward to trying new ones. I have made my way over to Fort Orange Brewing a couple times and am hooked on a few of them. Moving on to what's really important, a family/friend ran operation. These are hard to come by these days! My family and I will be there Thursday night, myself a couple beers while we play some board games with the kids. Atmosphere is perfectly geared in the right direction! Keep it up!
Great beer, great atmosphere and great people. My husband and I enjoyed our visit to Fort Orange Brewing. The beer was great with the Fort Orange IPA being the favorite. The place was filled with kind and very courteous people. Definitely will be returning.
Fun atmosphere, really nice staff, enjoyable brews. The lucky Mrs G, Johnny Mo and I split several flights so we sampled all the brews. I'm not an IPA guy but they were eagerly downed by J(Mo) with top reviews. My favs were the red, which was similar to (but better than) Killian's. I also loved the stout, which was wonderfully more complex than most. I'll be a regular here!
Fort Orange has been our go-to laid back Friday night hangout spot throughout the pandemic & gave us something to look forward to when much was closed. New beers weekly, open & airy, & dog friendly - can't beat it! Make sure to visit when Rhiannon is bartending - she's the best!
Great atmosphere and delicious beer. Every beer has its own distinct characteristics and I have enjoyed each one. Prices are decent and the people friendly. Great spot to spend an evening.
I am not a beer person but went with friends on opening night. I tried a flight with 5 samples. My favorite was the Goldie. If you aren’t a beer person, this is a great one to have. I ended up having 2. They have a really cool thing called “Beer it forward” where you can buy someone a drink and leave a message for them on a big chalk board - really cool.
The chocolate peanut butter stout is excellent. lighter and more flavorful than i expected. I stop by every time i'm in albany and take a 4 pack back with me. would highly recommend
Wonderful place, great beer, friendly staff, games for families to play at tables, fair prices. Couldn't ask for anything more, glad they are local!! Beer it forward chalkboard for your family and friends. Great idea!!
I love it here! Beer is great, and they always have new stuff on tap. Popcorn is amazingggg and staff is the best! So happy there is a place like this in albany.
Held a 40 person event at the brewery. Staff was accommodating and helpful. Price was reasonable. Great event!
Beer was awesome! Great atmosphere with a ton of seating. Bartender was super friendly. We will definitely return.
Breweries opening night. Great atmosphere and more importantly the beer was excellent. Looking forward to when the Stout is available in pints and not as a part of the flight, was top notch.
Great bartender and nice variety of beer genre's. The Oktoberfest was a 9.5. Very pooch friendly. Worth a visit 2 be shure...
I always have a great time here for trivia! I love the vibe of the place. I'm not a big beer drinker so I love that they do have a few other options. It's nice to be able to bring your own snacks/food. Can't wait to go back!
This is a nice little brewery. Friendly staff and great beer. We were only there for a quick stop but will definitely return. The growlers we got are chilling now! We've been to a bunch of breweries and they all feel like a warm community. This one, too. However, I'd suggest a fire pit out front with some "landscapting" and maybe benches/couches. I'm stealing all of these ideas from other breweries we've visited but it'd really put the atmosphere over the top. Definitely recommend!
From the minute I walked in, I felt such a good vibe in this place The owners and staff were so welcoming, not to mention, the beer is fantastic. I was thrilled to see a stout on tap as it is my favorite. It did not disappoint, it was one of the best I have had! I've visited breweries up and down the east coast and I think Fort Orange has what it takes to be very successful. I'll be visiting again very soon.
From the time you walk through the doors, you can appreciate the time and effort that was put in to making this brewery comfortable. From the hanging lights, the comfy picnic tables, to the historical mural painted on the wall every detail has been attended to. In addition, the very family-friendly atmosphere makes it a unique spot in downtown Albany where children are welcome. As for the beer, delicious! Whether it’s a pint or two, or a flight served in their uniquely designed Fort Orange trays, you will be pleased. If it’s the rich flavors of an IPA that is something you’re looking for or the smoothness of a stout, all palates will be satisfied. If you haven’t had a chance yet, get there quickly and check this place out, and plan on returning over and over again. I know I am!
Love this Brewery!! They always have great beer and such a good atmosphere! Whenever I go Rhi is working, and she provides excellent service, girl is literally the face of for orange! If you haven’t been to this brewery is strongly recommend d
Had a great time here! The bartender Rhiannon made us feel right at home. We tried almost all the beers and they were all super quality! Make sure to get the Galaxy hops and the DIPA. Cool venue, it’s one big open room, with the brewery visible in the back. Kid friendly, pet friendly, seemed like all the locals were in and out. Tv was on to a baseball game, which was nice. The flagship Fort Orange IPA was a little underwhelming. Check out the ‘Beer It Forward’ Initiative. Will definitely stop here again on my way through the area.
The atmosphere, beer, and people here are excellent. It is a wide open space with 10 beers on tap, all made in house. Bright colors and nice lighting love up the place while you can sit at the bar or at picnic tables throughout the space. Bring your own food, or most times there's a good truck outside. Also, bring the kids.
One of our favorite spots. Kid and dog-friendly with N/A and GF options for everybody. Sometimes have food trucks or events. You can also bring your own food making them a budget-conscious spot for friends to gather as well. My favorite beer is their Nipper. Great bartenders (special shoutout to Chris, Janine, Connie, Jen, Andy, Sarah). Def worth a visit on your trip to Albany!
Just had a fundraiser cornhole tournament there and it was amazing! Sara and Jeanine bartended and were great !!
We went for a Saturday filled with a taco truck (Buenos Comida I Think) tacos were crazy good. A girl and her guitar, she was above average. The staff actually appreciated our business, rare to find nowadays. And the beer. The beer was outstanding! I’ve never been here. I have hit up a lot of the new and some older breweries in the Capital Region. They have an IPA called Patroon Island. I would put this up against any local IPA around here . Something like 8.7% with hints of orange and pineapple. I ordered 2 and bought a 4pack to bring home. Next time you are in the warehouse district of Albany , do yourself a favor …stop in. You will thank me later.
Had a great time playing Cornhole! Bartender was super friendly. And the beer was tasty.
Good beer, great service and a fun night of trivia.
A ever growing and diverse array of brews. It has grown since its opening and combined with the friendly staff merits a visit . They do flights and the various beers deserve a taste. The decor is still industrial in its feel but is welcoming and is no way feels corporate or slipshod. It’s the way local brewpubs used to feel. Food is by food trucks and they music occasionally.
Wonderful beer place - they have decent wine options too! Best part of this place is they play the actual European football matches on their television! You can borrow the board games and can have a fun time with friends and family!
I was here on a Tuesday night for a 90's themed trivia night. We had an awesome time. Their flight gauntlet was a great way to try all of their beers. They have a passion fruit and mango sour that I loved. They have lots of options so there is something for everyone (wheat beers, IPAs, stouts etc). My husband liked their Peanut Butter beer and Fort Orange IPA which had some citrus undertones. There was a food truck parked outside selling burgers, fries, hotdogs, fried dough and churros at very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back.
What's not to like? Great beers brewed 20 feet from the taproom, friendly proprietors, corn hole and board games (including old school Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots for the kiddos!) and a brewery with a sense of old Albany history. (Ask why their beer flight rack and logo look like that) The Local Stout was flavorful and roasty good, their namesake Fort Orange IPA was a straight-up NEIPA with citrusy nose, juicy flavor and just the right amount of hoppy goodness. I also sipped on their Irish red, Whistlestopper, easy to drink in the Smithwick's vein, but with a dry note from a bit more aggressive hopping than most reds. Open just since October, this place is already brewing gems and has great potential. Ask about the way-cool "Beer It Forward" chalkboard wall and buy your mates a brew for a future visit!
Great atmosphere, and great beer. Such a unique place to grab a bite to eat when a food truck is out front, or bring something to eat while enjoying a pint, or two... Or three. Started off with a flight to test several of the brews, and each impressed me in its own way. I'm not the most knowledgeable beer drinker, but the owner guided my selections based off what I knew I did like. Very helpful, as were the descriptions on the menu. Looking forward to getting back soon, and trying some of the options I didn't get to taste during my first visit.
Went to an event there it was pretty fun but it's a small place
Nice space. Owners are friendly and seem concerned about your experience. Kid friendly. Great beer.
Good beer & nice atmosphere. Friendly service!
The beer is fine (the stout is nice and dry, and the IPAs crisp and refreshing) but the service is a tad brusque (e.g. ripping tasting notes away to give to the next customer, while I was still reading them). Maybe the bartender was just having a bad day, but it was more off-putting than welcoming. Also, the flights could be cheaper. But the beer is solid.
Ten beer taps: six IPAs of various sub-styles, two fruit sours, a pale ale, and a milk stout. I like IPAs, I like hops. These are not bad beers. But please, it’d be so nice to have a crisp, light, sessionable beer or two on draught, especially in the summer. A kölsch, pilsner, saison, anything, please!
Opening night. I have a bit of brewing experience, but mostly I've worked on judging for brewing competitions in clubs. Mind you commercial beer doesn't always mean it meets BJCP guidelines, which is often my baseline. I wanted to take time to write this, because I think a one star warrants an explanation. That being said, work needs to be done, but that also means Fort Orange has room to grow. The first beer I had was one of the IPAs. Modern brewers love this style because all malt flaws can be hidden in dry hop. The thing about scaling is that less hops are needed proportionately in the boil to reach a certain bitterness. This beer was bitter without redemption or balance. My first shot at improving would be to up the caramel malt content and increase the dry hop with less IBU. My girlfriend had the bold red. Again, it was over hopped in the boil I think making it too bitter for the style and very close to the IPA. Distinctive malt aroma and color were the only give away for the style difference. The golden ale was sour and I'm worried it was from possible infection. We couldn't finish it. The stout was one of the only beers that piqued my interest but that's because the chocolate coffee flavors finally covered up what I think was an underlying issue in each beer. Every beer has the bandaid/spicy swimming pool flavor which is almost ubiquitous for chlorophenol. This means either untreated chloramine from their water source or bleach based sanitation. I've seen it before in NY. Broken Bow is constantly serving beer with this flaw. But at the end of the day, all this is fixable, if you want it to be fixed. I hope things will get better and these issues (which I'm happy to discuss) addressed, but given the stock of home brewing experience among the owners, I think it's going to take expert advice from someone who has experience on the larger scale to turn things around. At the end of the day, I can only use my knowledge from beer judging to suggest what the flaws are and where they could come from. It will take work to find a good solution. I look forward to changing my review to 5 stars someday. Edit: Okay! So they figured it out! Much better. Beer is now mashed at the correct temp fixing the DMSO issue. Nothing mind blowing, but on the right track. Some styles are done very well.
It was a nice set up, I went for a benefit, my only downfall is the beer, I'm strictly a Coors Light girl! However, I was fine without a drink.
Fort Orange is the only brewery that you can hang out with the staff and feel like family. We love the joking around and comradery we have experienced since they opened on day 1. We love to bring our friends and family to this local brewery due to this feel. Please don't change. It's like a "Cheers"! The beer is very good too....
Good fun and great beer. They had a corn hole tournament going on so it was a little loud but over all a great selection of beer and nice people
Really cool location with great staff. The beers were good, not much variety though. The food truck they had was highly disappointing, but that's not on them. I would recommend if you are in the area and want somewhere to hang for a little and grab a beer.
Came on a whim here and glad I did. To get the downsides out of the way first, I came on a trivia night so the place was packed, service was a bit slow, and seating was at a premium. Other than that though, I'm glad I came. Every beer I had was great and despite the bustle the bartenders were still welcoming. Would love to come back at a quieter time to reevaluate.
5 stars for the staff and beer. 0 stars for the dogs barking inside.
Nice place for a fun fund raiser. Beers were something for everyone.
Cool space and great to have a brewery space in Albany that focuses on just beer without an attached restaurant. However this brings me to the big point; the problem is the beer still needs some work but is getting better. The styles and execution are both elementary. It is a brewery, and the primary reason people visit is for the beer. Hopefully it can get dialed in. In the meantime you'll find friendly staff in a relaxed environment with plenty of games to keep you busy.
First time coming here with some friends. asked for two samples and the bartender gave me a smart remark about it and attitude. It’s a brewery? How am I suppose to know what beer to get it without trying it to see which I like. Never had an issue before any other place about a small beer sampling. Not the best experience and the atmosphere wasn’t too great.
Great beer, but they encourage narcissistic pet owners to bring their attack animals despite most of the planet wanting to eat and drink without listening to them howl at each other and wonder how long until someone gets bit.
Nice little brewery that has something for everyone. The sours to me aren't really tart and don't hit the flavor profile, they are more like a lager. The Stouts and Porters are on point. The PB Stout is one of my favorites. Definitely worth trying.
Was there for an event yesterday, cool spot with good selection of beers. Only gripe is the lady bartender was rude and off-putting to my friends and while I was waiting for drinks could hear her yelling at other customers over the event announcer. Just wait for the other bartender to free up if you don’t want to be scolded while ordering
Went there for the vegan bbq event. Inside female bartender was rude, I left and went to Lion Heart on Broadway, where I experienced better customer service.
When we arrived @715pm on Saturday night there were 3 other people in the whole brewery. The bartender thought it was more important to finish his conversation with another couple before coming over to help us. Like cmon. Tell them to hold on for a second. Then the beer we had was super mediocre. Won’t be back.
I paid in advance to go see comedy show and you could have just walked in, not only that but the staff was extremely inconsiderate of the comedians chatting it up like there was nothing going on I couldn't hear and was distracted buy them totally ridiculous I felt bad for the comedians!!! It wasent the product I enjoyed my beers but ended up having to leave , out if frustration! Have some respect
