I visited Kismet during a business trip in Burlington from southern Vermont. It happened to be the closest spot to us. I was impressed by how friendly everyone was, and the quality of the food. We didn't feel rushed, but we were still able to take our time, order, eat, and leave during a Thursday lunch rush within 40 minutes. The Turkish coffee here is excellent.

Kismet is a great neighborhood spot for delicious Turkish and Mediterranean food. It’s clean and pretty inside, the service is wonderful and the food is great. Don’t forget to order Menengiç (pistachio “coffee”) as a sweet end to your meal.

The braised lamb shank was so delicious, had to pause to enjoy it. Desserts are mostly homemade and also fantastic. 👌

The Kismet Mediterranean Grill was an amazing experience from beginning to end. We felt very welcome and the service was exceptional! We ordered Turkish tea and split the mixed grill. We've had two stellar experiences with Ray and the staff at Kismet Mediterranean Grill! The first one: staff seated us in one of the front window tables (a very fun spot, by the way) and we proceeded to thoroughly enjoy some of the great tasting menu items. Since we had just a little bit of room left after dinner, we asked Ray for a dessert recommendation. His suggestion -- the poached pears -- was simply exquisite. That taste sensation alone would have been worth the trip! The second one: the in-restaurant experience was so tasty, I quickly thought of Kismet to cater my wife's surprise retirement party. Ray and the team again rose to the occasion, and every aspect of the transaction was impeccable. From working with me to create a menu for all of our tastes, delivery to our site, support with setup and chafing dishes...and again fantastic, fresh and delicious food! Kismet is Simply the Best!

Beautiful cozy restaurant in a nice part of town. We forgot to take our server’s name but she was very friendly and helpful throughout and so were the other servers. You order anything and it’ll be tasty! Worth it!!!

Let’s start with the showstopper—I highly recommend trying the poached pear! It’s made in-house, and honestly, I’ve never had a dessert quite like it. I love when fresh fruit is the star of the show when it comes to sweets, and this one truly shines. The service was excellent. We came for lunch and ordered the lamb and beef bowl, as well as the lamb and beef wrap. Both were fantastic. I got fries with my wrap—they were simple, classic French fries (not battered or anything fancy), but still good. The sauces on the side were excellent. We also tried the cigar roll appetizer, which I highly recommend as well. Seriously, if you visit, don’t miss the poached pear—it’s worth the trip just for that!

We moved to Albany from Texas like a year ago and since then we were looking for a nice Mediterranean restaurant like back in Texas. Finally we found it! Great food quality and rest and a really nice sitting environment.

Me and my kids had dinner at Kismet Restaurant in Albany, NY, and we were very impressed! We ordered lamb chops, lamb shank, and the grilled branzino fillet — everything was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. They offer a great variety of Mediterranean dishes, including some authentic Turkish options. We really appreciated their hospitality. A couple of small things to note: I wish the dining area was a bit larger, and parking could be a challenge on busy days. Other than that, everything else was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Travel RN in town was looking for a good quality authentic meal. Kismet dinner did not disappointed. The well cooked meal. Worth every penny. They really bring the Turkish tradition to Albany. We were just looking for a quick bite off Route 90—nothing fancy, just something better than fast food. Totally by chance, we ended up at Kismet, a small Turkish/Greek place in Albany, and honestly, it completely surprised us - in a good way. The menu hit that spot between cozy and exciting. I went with the Greek salad with grilled chicken, figuring it’d be solid, but it turned out to be really good—like, surprisingly fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, flavorful olives and grilled chicken that was juicy. I got some dill dressing (I think it was dill) on the side, it was bright and didn’t overpower the rest of the salad. (Dressing that overpowers the flavor of everything in the bowl is a pet peeve of mine.) My wife ordered the lamb lunch bowl, (which I will get next time). It came with soft roasted eggplant, saffron rice, tomatoes, and a small side salad. Oh, and a healthy serving of lamb. Everything was super flavorful and felt homey, like a dish someone made with a lot of care. We also had the hot Turkish tea, which they serve in traditional glass cups and saucers. It’s the kind of thing that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. Turns out, someone on staff (owner?) blends the tea himself, and you can tell—it’s got a depth to it, warm and aromatic without being too heavy. The whole vibe of the place was relaxed and friendly. Service was thoughtful but not in-your-face, and the space had a calm, inviting feel. Prices were totally reasonable, and we found parking easily. It wasn’t a planned stop, but it ended up being one of those meals you keep thinking about. Will go back and yes, it’s one of those spots that makes getting off the highway totally worth it.

Lets talk food, so the menu does not mention a mix platter, I asked the waiter if they had such he replied I could pick from 4 items { I took a bit of coaching from the waiter}from the apps. great now I can sample how well everything is going to be. Did I ever score big on my platter, 4 perfectly platted portions of hummus,babaganoush,,falafel,tzatziki, toasted perfect pita triangles, I can not tell you when I had such (homemade) well made falafel, and the others were just beyond my expectations. I had the opportunity to try a sample of the dinner menu, a lamb and mushroom preparation and cannot wait to return for the full dinner menu to choose from. Don't miss this wonderful new full of life establishment, it wont disappoint you.

Wonderful Mediterranean restaurant, the food is authentic, great wine list, and the service has been excellent every time we come here. The owner and servers want you to enjoy your experience, and they are gracious hosts, they are never trying to rush you out to flip tables. The food is excellent and by far the star of the show, but the whole experience of eating here is what makes this a 5 star restaurant.

The restaurant Kismet is named appropriately. This place is amazing! It has an intimate "homey" feel and the food is Absolutely Wonderful! This place absolutely deserves a 5-star review. From the moment we sat down, everything was done with great care and attention to detail. Before the meal, they brought olives and dried tomatoes that were incredibly flavorful, along with fresh hot bread, which was the perfect way to start. I’m a big fan of Ali Nazik, and I have to say this was one of the best Ali Nazik I’ve had anywhere in the United States. Engin, the owner and chef, did an outstanding job. You can really taste the difference because the eggplant is grilled in-house, giving it that authentic smoky flavor that this dish is supposed to have. The meat on top was extremely soft and tender, cooked perfectly and balanced beautifully with the eggplant. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and carefully prepared. You can tell that real effort and quality ingredients go into the food. Engin was also incredibly welcoming and hospitable. At the end of the meal he kindly offered us dessert on the house, which was a very thoughtful gesture and much appreciated. If I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely come back. The food, the hospitality, and the overall experience were excellent. Strongly recommended for anyone who appreciates authentic and high-quality Turkish cuisine.

Passing through the Albany area landed upon Kismet and very happy we did. Started with the hummus and falafel both were excellently flavored fresh and cooked to perfection. I had the chicken bowl My husband had the beef lamb bowl and we both enjoyed our meals immensely. And of course a great way to end the meal was a cup of pistachio coffee which I had never had and I highly recommend and the most delicious blueberry creme brulee I've ever had. Highly recommend stopping in for either lunch or dinner You will not be disappointed.

Wow, what a find. The food is excellent - a little different for Mediterranean food, but very flavorful. The Ali Nazik was incredible - the eggplant puree was creamy and went beautifully with the lamb. The creme brulee with blueberries was the perfect complement of sweet and slightly tart. Can't wait to go back!

The food was 5 stars across the board. We started with the Mezze Platter, the Cigar Rolls and the Falafel. All were fantastic. The falafel were completely authentic and delicious. The pita was warm and soft and the cigar rolls were crispy! All of our entrees were excellent. The baklava and the blueberry crème brûlée were a perfect ending! Be aware it is beer and wine only, which don’t bother us but just be aware! Will absolutely be coming back!

If you like Mediterranean or Middle Eastern food in general, give Kismet a try. There has more dine-in space than you are able to see from the exterior, and it is carefully and pleasantly decorated, a good place to linger and talk. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. Food is delicious, fresh, carefully-made, and reasonably-priced. The quinoa and halloumi cheese salad is one of my favorite dishes of all-time. It comes with a savory citrus dressing.

I got catering for a baby shower from Kismet, which is my absolute favorite along with the mother to be. Not only was is absolutely delicious but so affordable. I had guests from all over the Hudson Valley and Albany area and they all said it was the best Mediterranean food they’ve ever had. From the build your own pita set up with meat, humus, the RICE even the baklava. So delicious. The communication and quickness in responses made it stress free. Visiting Albany and decided to try this little Mediterranean gem. We made a reservation, which is not required, and they put us in the window seat which was very cute with great views. We had the Mezze appetizer sampler - we chose hummus, babaganoush, cigar rolls, and taziki with diced cucumbers - every one of them was very good. We also had the grilled branzino filet (from Spain!), which also was excellent. For dessert we had the poached pear, which is homemade on site, which was divine. Highly recommend!

Meeting friends for dinner on a Sunday in early June we wanted a restaurant that had some vegetarian options. We picked Kismet Mediterranean Grill and it was a great pick. We decided to sit outside even with it being a cool night. After looking at the menu for a few minutes we ordered two Meze Platters which you pick any four of the appetizers from the list of eight appetizers and also comes with fresh Pita. So we got to try all eight appetizers giving us a great selection to share. A few had a glass of wine with the appetizers. For dinner I had the Moussaka, which came with a side of rice and a salad ($25) which was delicious and I took half home for the next night's dinner. My wife and one other had the Veggie Stew (eggplant potatoes, onion, peppers, green beans, tomatoes, feta cheese, with a side of rice and salad $20). Another friend had Grilled Salmon (29) and the other had the Braised Lamb Shank (30). For dessert we shared three Baklavas ($8) and two Blueberry Creme Brulee ($10). Four of us had Pistachio Espresso ($4) with our desserts. This gave us a great cross section of what is served at Kismet. The service was as good as the food. The server was friendly and helpful with us picking out what to order. Everything came out quickly. Eating outside was on the noisy side with it being a busy intersection. The restaurant has booths for four people and tables for two people which can be put together for groups of any size. For groups of over four I would make a reservation so they can pull tables together. If you like Mediterranean Food, you will love Kismet for the food, atmosphere and the service.

Last week, we were fortunate to discover this restaurant online. Although it took us an hour to drive there, it was absolutely worth the trip. The food was delicious and authentically reflected the cuisine of its country of origin. The food is nice, coupled with a beautiful ambiance. The service is also pretty good, they like to take care of their customers. The reason I am giving it four stars is, I felt the taste did not justify the price. However, I am not saying the food was bad, rather I expected a little more in terms of either the quality or quantity based on the price.

The restaurant has a great ambience. The food is delicious and has good aftertaste. The one thing to mention is smaller table size which makes it difficult to move dishes when you are with someone.

DELICIOUS soup! You have to try it even if you don't feel like eating (and are there just to tag along with a friend bc you have nothing else to do on a Sunday morning). The mint seasoning was chef's kiss 💋. Strawberry mimosa was light and tasty; great for a lightweight like me but may not be boozy enough for everyone else. 😂 I wasn't expecting much from the toast but the white bread was super tasty and definitely superior to whole wheat. Oh and the waitresses were super sweet. :) I was in Albany as part of a routine escapade from NYC and couldn't be happier to have settled on Kismet for brunch. <3

If you are looking for a quiet place to have a nice casual diner this is the place. Service was great and the food was very good. The lamb was very flavorful and the tzatziki was awesome. While I didn’t order the poached pear for dessert I was able to try it and would highly recommend it. No liquor for cocktails however they do have wine.

Food is good but it’s a bit over priced. I’ve been there thrice. I was never unhappy with the food. Everything tasted good. But it is definitely a bit Over priced. You get a tiny piece of baklava for $5.9. It’s ok once in a while since we don’t have a lot of Mediterranean restaurants around.

However service this time wasn’t the greatest, some things that you would think are obvious weren’t so obedient like not getting sugar for the tea or not getting a spoon or something to stir the sugar; by the time we got the sugar and then 5 or more minutes later a spoon to stir the tea, it was cold. You can also see the spoon we got to stir the tea with, doesn’t fit lol but again things that should be obvious, weren’t. Prices are a bit steep for the portions you get, but the taste makes up for it, maybe? We had the Meze Trio, and the portions of that were way too little for the price. We also had the chicken gyro pita wrap, shish kebab lamb, and the classic gyro plate. All were good and reasonably priced. Atmosphere is nice, but it can get super loud. It’s a small place and a lot of people. Regardless, it’s a good experience once in a while.

Great customer service , the food was good but I had better tasting middle eastern food before. Outdoor sitting area had great vibe . Also that Turkish / Arabic coffee was a misfire - it was insanely bitter . I’m an espresso person so when I say their Turkish coffee is bitter - it’s bitter. We tried their Chicken Kavourma and it was good.

The ambience and the service were great but the food was pretty bland and the taste did not match up to the price . The chicken was tough to chew, and there was hardly any seasoning. Really expected better.

Ambience is nice and clean. I just don’t know since when serving iceberg lettuce is called “salad”, absolutely no dressing too! Meat and chicken was tasteless, portions are too small for their pricing. Staff are not very attentive, waited to ask just for salt 15mins. After having dinner there, we had to go to another place to have a proper dinner since we were still hungry.
