Best Biryani in Houston hands down 🫶🏼 delicious flavor with melt in your mouth chicken. Also tried the chef’s butterflied whole chicken, and wow welcome to flavor town ❤️ to sweeten the deal, the kheer is the cherry on the top. Definitely on my restaurant rotation👍🏻
Goat karahi was the bomb! Chicken tandoori tasted very homely. Rice was great and the naan was delicious. I would definitely come back.
This is small little place some friends took me to (they order it all the time). I was definitely not disappointed! We got the samosas to start (aloo & beef), chicken lollipops, whole split chicken, beef shank curry, naan & roti. We all had a mango lassi. Everything had great flavor, the chicken was the star for me, the char was great on it. Perfect amount, NOT BURNT. Beef shank was so fall apart tender!! The samosas were super crispy! Highly recommend you check this place out, I don't think you'll be disappointed, either.
I stopped by Ammis Kitchen with my daughter about a few weeks ago and ordered the halwa puri. It came out fresh and warm, the kind of breakfast that feels like Ammi made it. While we were waiting, a kid who looked like he was still in highschool was at the counter started a bit of small talk. His name was Muhammad but told us to call him Dawood. He talked about simple things like the morning and the menu, nothing forced. But my daughter took to him instantly. She said that she saw him in her highschool and she kept talking about how nice he was and how he joked with her for a moment. By the time we sat down, she would not stop bringing him up. While we ate, I watched him work. He handled the register, greeted everyone who walked in, and still managed to move around the dining area cleaning tables and keeping everything in order. He stayed calm through it all. No attitude or shortcuts. Definitely made my experience at Ammis Kitchen 50x better. I hope people like Muhammad work everywhere because we love people like him.
I drive by this place often, but I have never tried it until 2 weeks ago. I tried the Goat Karahi and garlic naan. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted. Lots of flavor, tender, lots of meat, and no random bones from being cooked too long. Did I mention the flavor?! I even had enough leftover to eat from the next day. I am back again trying the Chicken Karahi & punjabi samosas. I can’t believe I waited so long to try them, but I can’t wait to try their entire menu!
came in sort of close to closing time, very clean and quiet restaurant. The staff was super friendly and had great suggestions for what to pick off the menu (it was my first time eating pakistani food). The dish we got was a beef karahi(?) dish. Extremely savory with a nice kick. would recommend trying this place out.
I've never had Pakistani food before and that's an error on my part. I had the half chicken and it was incredible. A bit spicey which is perfect for me. I'll most definitely be ordering from here again and can't wait to try other options!
Stopped by Ammi’s Kitchen & Grill for lunch — first visit. Ordered Dal and garlic naan — both fresh and flavorful. Naan was soft, perfectly made, and served hot. Dal tasted homemade, rich and comforting. Side of mango achar and paparr added a great touch. Clean, welcoming spot with fast service. Family-owned, and it shows in the quality. One of the best Pakistani-Indian Halal restaurants in Texas — highly recommend.
We absolutely love this kitchen and I'm surprised I haven't done a review for it already. We have catered from them before and loved their catered food. The pakistani Chinese fusions are always a hit in our house. We have dined in with them, and every time the food comes out in a timely manner. And even though they're pretty busy, they always seem to get out order, right away which is a big deal to us. We don't like waiting unnecessarily-- I mean, no one does, but we especially do not. We have done take out with them multiple times--we get take out more than anything. We love their Sunday brunch specials. My only complaint would be that I wish that they would do it earlier because 11am is pretty late for us, we want halwa puri earlier than that! As long as they remain professional, have a clean establishment, tasty food and good customer service--we will continue to support this business!
Ammis Restaurant never disappoints! Their zinger burger is on another level – crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. Honestly one of the best I’ve had, way better than the usual fast-food chains. But what really makes the experience special is Ali Bhai’s hospitality. He treats every customer like family, always welcoming with a smile and making sure you’re well taken care of. That personal touch makes the whole dining experience memorable.
The best Pakistani restaurant on the north side!! Everything we have tried here has been 10/10. Here are my top picks: Zinger burger, Malai boti paratha roll, tikka boti paratha roll, grilled butterfly chicken, malai boti, chicken seekh kabab, beef seekh kabab, chicken tikka, puri paratha. Basically, everything is amazing!!! Top notch quality food.
We went for brunch on a Saturday. Tried variety of items and we really liked the food. We had halwa poori combo, dum keema, and anda paratha. My dum keema and anda paratha were very good. Definitely try this place if your looking for Pakistan breakfast better than most Pakistani breakfast joints.
Good desi halal food. Their menu is updated everyday on Facebook. They serve weekend brunch which is quiet popular. I have mostly visited dinners and love their options. My favourite dishes are biryani, Nihari and pista halwa. We had their brunch option as well. Loved their chicken tandoori and vegetarian thali
We visited again on a sunday morning and the place was packed with only one server taking the orders, cleaning tables, managing the phone, taking payments and also serving food. I felt bad for her because it really affects their service level and she was running everywhere. Our food took 40 mins to come and with that Bun kabab was completely cold, no plate or spoon provided for haleem and the server was so busy it was impossible to get anything. Paying the bill also tried to talk to the owner but he was busy on the phone taking orders and processing payments. Very disappointed. And this is not the first time it has happened. The food is good but service definitely needs help with service. We are regulars here and they need to hire more staff. Update : we recently ordered catering trays of biryani, karhai, pakora, kheer, dahi phulki and chana chaat. Everyone loved the food and kept asking where the food is from. The quantity, spice level, taste everything was superb! Ali bhai is amazing and so friendly to work with. I am so glad we ordered.
Owner (Ali) is incredibly rude and unprofessional. I highly discourage supporting this establishment. I called in at 1:55pm to order 4 rolls to go - was told 15-20 min. Arrived at 2:15pm and was told 5 min; went ahead and made payment. Around 2:25pm once the owner is finished addressing others in line, I asked for an update, he goes in to the kitchen, comes out and claims my order is getting packed up. At 2:30pm I ask him to refund me if it's not ready. He goes into the kitchen and I hear shouts about my order. Clearly there's been some miscommunication in the back but he fails to admit it and seems like he starts working on the order since he avoids coming out for several minutes as I ring the bell or knocked on the door. Finally he comes out and refuses to give a refund saying it's now ready while uttering nonsense such as claiming I don't know how restaurants work and cursing at me. Ali's dishonesty and aggressive/hostile attitude was incredibly unpleasant; I will not be coming back. Note: I did not receive a refund and exited before the order was ready.
Update: I actually lived in India for many years and have eaten at many Indian restaurants. Your food is not up to standard. I did request butter naan with no cilantro and was told by the woman taking the order that the cilantro and garlic were pre-mixed. Your restaurant was almost empty...so good luck. The information about the location was merely additional. Your restaurant would have received the same review were you located in a nicer neighborhood. You're greeted by an industrial sized smell of musk room deoderizer. The front door loudly chimes and announces "FRONT DOOR." The staff was not welcoming. There was a woman bussing tables and I asked if it was counter service or if I should sit down. She told me to sit down, but then it turned out to be counter service. I ordered samosas, butter chicken, and garlic naan without cilantro. They pre-mix the cilantro with the garlic, which means they aren't making it fresh. The butter chicken was definitely not butter chicken. Butter chicken is a thick sauce made with yogurt and of course butter. It is a rich creamy reddish sauce. This was watery and lumpy and yellow. I ate a few bites and left. It is also next to a shady establishment, On the Rox, with trashy and rude clientele hanging out in the parking lot.
Unfortunately, my experience at Ami’s Kitchen and Grill (Louetta Road, Houston) was very disappointing. The food quality was well below expectations, particularly the catering items, biryani, and halwa poori platter, which were tasteless and seemed unhygienic. Customer service was another major issue. The lady at the counter was unprofessional and unwelcoming, making the experience even more unpleasant. This establishment needs to seriously improve its food standards, hygiene, and customer service. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place and feel it is not worth the money.
