A real gem. The chicken agda (stew) was flavorful and spicy without the spices being overpowering. The complementary salad, soup broth and hot Yemeni tea were pleasant additions - to note, the tea is very sweet, one cup is plenty. The flatbread that came with the agda was enormous; be prepared to bring a friend or ask for a to-go container. Service was courteous and attentive. In terms of value for the meal and the flavor, few places in Albany compare as well. A delightful option if you're looking to try something different.
The food is incredibly fresh and truly authentic. The meat was literally fall-off-the-bone, and every dish was packed with flavor. The chicken Haneth was tender and richly seasoned, and the rice was excellent. Portions were generous, and they even include complimentary soup and bread. The fattah with honey was the perfect dessert, and the self-serve tea was spot-on. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is friendly. Delicious, authentic Yemeni food and highly recommended.
The food is authentically Yemeni and the taste is truly like non other Yemeni restaurants I’ve tried throughout all of New York. They have a huge variety of different foods throughout different countries and all at an authentic taste. I can’t help but heavily recommend this restaurant and I urge everyone in the area to try it.
"We recently visited this restaurant and had a wonderful experience! We ordered the beans and the liver, and both were absolutely delicious. The rshush was also amazing. The atmosphere was lovely, and my daughter really enjoyed it
Excellent food, had the lamb agada and the chicken saltah with generous portion of bread to eat with which was absolutely delicious. Our meal was so hearty and filling with plenty of leftovers for another meal. Will definitely be back
Food was fire, service was great. I got an order of fasah with malawah bread and it was incredible. We also had soup and tea that was off the hook. 10/10 would recommend.
Great food and services. High value. Definitely come back.
Great food! Chicken grilled on charcoal and hummus with bread was my favorite 😍
Food is delicious, will definitely come back again

Great food, great value. And they treat you well, too. First they bring you a bowl of delicious spicy broth, a chopped salad, and a small bowl of a spicy hot green chili condiment. I had a lamb liver wrap (they brought me some extra on the side in a tasty tomato dressing), my son had a lamb kebab wrap. They serve more side salad and a white garlic sauce with it. The food was excellent. I cannot wait to go back and try everything else on the menu. The price is very reasonable for what they give you. Good place to go for a cheap date, good place to go with a large group of adventurous eaters so that you can order and try lots of different dishes.
I’ve never had Yemen food before and I was delighted to find it so incredibly fresh, delicious, and stick to your bones hearty. I wish I took photos because the food looked as delicious as it tasted. I had a variety of appetizers and for my main meal I had the lamb agda. It was insane. The meat was so tender I ate it with a spoon! Also the bread they give you was the size of a small child! I can’t wait to come back it was a 10/10 spot.
I ordered the lamb kebab to go, and I stopped after my first bite to write this review because it was genuinely some of the best lamb I've eaten in years. The service was amazing, the complimentary soup was delicious, the tea was so so good, and they were perfect to warm me up on a cold day during my incredibly short wait for my food!
Went there today for dinner with my family. The service was great, food came fast and was delicious would definitely recommend going to and I’m definitely going back. Not just that the customer service was absolutely spectacular.
The food is spectacular. Very reasonable ,not fancy , the restaurant gives delicious "extras". Support them!
Delicious food, friendly and respectful staff, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home. The perfect spot to bring the whole family for a great meal together.
Our group of four was greeted warmly, and we were soon given cups of soup and a garden salad. The menu has a large variety of options, including some vegetarian options, which I ordered. Other orders, included chicken and rice, falafel sandwich, and another vegetarian dish. The two different Freshly made breads were delicious with plenty of extra to bring home. The accompanying spicy chutney was a nice addition to the dishes and the bread. We will have to return to try some of the teas and delicious looking desserts. This restaurant is an asset to the Albany food scene and to the neighborhood.
We had lunch there today after going to the DMV. First, the air outside the place smelled heavenly with the scent of charcoal-grilled meat and onions. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Our waiter (who is in this video) greeted us automatically with a small bowl of maraq (a flavorful and warming lamb broth), served saltah (chopped salad), alongside a spicy chili paste relish called sahawiq (or zhug). He was very pleasant and friendly. Then lamb Fahsa (a stew of super tender, shredded lamb and very tender diced veggies), with some Adeni tea (like chai). The meal was accompanied with a nigella seed topped Yemeni flat bread called Malwa. It's made per order, and our piece was about 18" x 10. It had dark bubbles here and there, and the edges were blackened and crispy. It was delicious. We also had Yemeni "sambusa" (like a samosa), which had a nice flaky, crunchy crust and wonderfully seasoned meat inside, and a crispy sampling of falafel. We ordered some basbousa (a rosewater-infused, simply syrup-drenched semolina cake) to bring home and have with tea after we landed (which we did), and a really wonderfully dense yet delicate baklava (not fluffy like some others). It is also very clean and the bathroom and hand washing facilities reflect a beautiful cleanliness standard. I highly recommend this place. I wish this place was much closer to where I live but I can imagine making a special trip to enjoy this place again. May the chefs hands be blessed.
My husband and I had date night there for the first time . We wanted some place different, married 38 yrs/ 7 kids ( all grown) weekly we try to be spontaneous.... Where do I even begin. The ambience is horrible and super bright that you feel like you’re in an operating room instead of a restaurant. Then the service is beyond horrible. No one came to take our order for over 20 minutes. When the nasty dirty salads with Italian dressing came out they were just nasty and they didn’t give us any forks to eat with. Then the food came out and they canceled one the orders and didn’t say anything. The food was so dry and overcooked and no sauce or condiments given. The restaurant is also super dirty and plain nasty. If you want a restaurant that has zero service, dirty, nasty food, horrible non existent service and just plain nasty and a health hazard then this is the spot. I can’t even describe how horrible this place is. Nasty!
Tried to order the lamb haneeth, but they said they were out. So I decided to order the chicken haneth instead. And to be honest, there was just no flavor or taste whatsoever. No salt, pepper, turmeric, cardamom, cumin ........ it was simply bland. I felt like I should have stayed home and just eat white bread. This was my first time trying Yemeni food so I have no frame of reference if this is what chicken haneth is supposed to taste like. I hope not. I would think anyone would prefer their food to have taste or a little bit of salt. Besides the chicken hanneth being very disappointing, the service was good and the atmosphere was nice and clean since it seemed like a new restaurant. I may give Yemeni food another chance, but will probably try a different place to see if the food is normally this tasteless
