I had the Faroe Island Salmon—my second time this week because the first was so good—and it was outstanding. I ordered it medium with a light, flaky Maillard crisp, and the chef nailed it. The dish is incredibly well-balanced: quinoa, perfectly cooked artichoke hearts with the spiny bits thoughtfully removed, fresh greens, and a light but flavorful lemon-butter sauce. If you’re a salmon lover like me, Wellington’s should be an Albany must-visit. A+
Our family of 4 visits Wellingtons 5-6 times a year, including last New Years Eve. It’s always a fantastic experience. We were there tonight and had Brett as our waiter, same as one of our other recent visits. He is one of the best! Food and drinks were perfect, as always. Price is fair for Albany. Highly recommend!
Food was really good, restaurant was super clean and well kept. Ordered the berry salad which was delicious and a burger. The burgher was a bit too crispy personally but still very good. Server had a great personality.
Wellington’s, located inside the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Albany, is a polished yet cozy spot that offers a refined lunch experience with a welcoming, relaxed vibe. Just steps away from the Albany Capital Center, it’s an ideal location for both locals and visitors — especially if you’re attending an event or staying nearby. The space is warm and tastefully modern, with comfortable seating and large windows that let in natural light while offering a peek at the city outside. It feels upscale without being stuffy, making it a great spot for a casual lunch, business meeting, or quiet escape in the middle of the day. The lunch menu features thoughtfully prepared dishes made with fresh ingredients, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. Whether you’re in the mood for a light salad, a hearty sandwich, or something more elevated, there’s something here for everyone. The food is flavorful and well-portioned, and presentation is clean and appealing. What sets Wellington’s apart is the balance it strikes — it feels special, yet comfortable. The ambiance is peaceful, the staff is friendly, and the location couldn’t be more convenient. If you’re in Albany and looking for a solid lunch spot that delivers both taste and atmosphere, Wellington’s is an excellent choice.
Alex, Olivia, Ian, Katie, Marco were fantastic people when I arrived at the Wellington restaurant. Super fun engaging conversation when I was at the bar enjoying myself. Loved the filet steak, cooked perfectly. Loved the cheesecake and the cosmos were perfect. 10/10 would come again if I was in Albany.
Natasha was our waitress, she made our entire experience awesome! We had Brussels for appetizers, cooked perfect and delicious. I had the Chicken Gyro Bowl, this did not disappoint! The chicken was cooked perfect, the Tazicki dressing was on point, olives were salty and yummy. Absolutely can’t wait to try Wellington’s on State St in Albany NY again!

Oh my goodness this place was so good! Everything we ordered was incredible. The Cubano Mac n Cheese was so flavorful with shredded pickles on top. If I had only one meal left in my life to eat, this would be it. Then we got the Cod and Shrimp and it was amazing. The sauce really set it off. We dug into it so fast that I only got a picture halfway through eating it. We loved the atmosphere and decor. It was a great place to bring my mom to.
This was a really nice place. I do not like alcohol at all, but their orchard cocktail is the only drink I've had so far that I can keep drinking without getting sick of it. The only complaint I have is that the service is really slow. I don't think we started eating until half an hour in. Other than that, I highly recommend this restaurant.
Had the pleasure of staying in the Renaissance and the attached restaurant is definitely added value. Good bar bites fitting for the atmosphere and looks like a place to catch up with the local elected. Can’t beat the views of the NYS Capital. Service was a bit slow but attribute it to the volume. I’ve been here a few times before for cocktails but enjoyed a lunch on this visit.
We had a great experience at Wellington’s, food was great and at a good pace. Drinks were fantastic. The ambiance was private and cozy even with a function for a large group going in at the bar area. We did have to ask for water a few different times but the service was so polite and attentive in other ways it made up for it.
Couldn’t walk in because I didn’t know where the entrance was, called and was directed in through the hotel. Walked in and was sat immediately. Breakfast menu was simple and direct and the options just right, price was a bit high, but like the normal diner high. Everyone was nice and the atmosphere was pleasant. I got a window sofa chair type seat and the view outside was serene and calming. I ordered a egg Benedict and green tea. Food was good. It was also the only place open on Christmas and it was warm. Quick tip, your water glass smelled a bit funky 8/10
Our server was excellent and very accommodating. She definitely gets 5 stars! Drinks were excellent 5 stars! Salmon was perfectly cooked and the quinoa was delicious! 😋 The NY strip was over cooked and bland the first time and the second time it was cooked medium well but was still tough . It was so tough that my better half tipped the plate on the floor and did not get to taste for flavor. The sticky pork had a great flavor but was fried too hard and a bit over cooked, but still good enough to finish it all and we were starving. Wellington is not nearly as good as they were when they first opened. The Marriott needs to train their managers on customer service. He did not know how to handle unsatisfied customers.
They literally canceled the reservation we made over a month ago a WEEK before Valentine's Day for an event they knew was happening prior. It wasn't posted on their instagram page, nor was it communicated. So now we're a week out and every nice place is booked. Thanks for nothing.
Thanksgiving. Lukewarm food. Very dry turkey. Mushy, bitter Brussels sprouts ( properly cooked Brussels are not bitter.). COLD dry cornbread. The pumpkin pie was terrible - over sweetened. I won’t get into the soggy overly sage-y atrocity the stuffing was. The apple pie was overwhelmed by lemon (lemon should brighten the apple flavor, not make apple pie taste like chunky lemon meringue pie). Service was lacking. Long wait for greeting and drinks after seating given it was a half empty restaurant when we arrived. Waitress had to be reminded to refill waters more than once. Didn’t check on us to see if everything was ok till well after the food was delivered - at which point there was no point in complaining. They hadn’t cleared the table before dessert was brought out and that person seemed surprised that there wasn’t room on the table for the desserts and annoyed with me for pointing it out when they tried to cram the pie plates amid our dinner and serving plates.
Overpriced and Overly Mediocre Experience I recently visited hoping for a decent meal but was thoroughly disappointed by both the food quality and the overall atmosphere. Even by Albany standards, the prices here do not match the mediocre quality delivered. The dining experience started poorly with the main course. I ordered the burger, priced at $19, and it had a distinct and very off-putting bitter, burnt taste. The char on the patty was completely overwhelming, making the dish nearly inedible. The appetizer was equally perplexing. The charcuterie board was strange and felt poorly curated. It featured odd components like pickled zucchini and squash, which certainly don't belong on a classic board. More critically, the meats tasted low-quality and old. The salami was reminiscent of cheap low-grade sandwich meat, the prosciutto was noticeably dry, and the selection felt confused with the inclusion of chorizo. This plate, in particular, did not reflect the price point or the expectation of fresh ingredients. The only saving grace was the buffalo wings, which were simply alright—nothing special enough to merit a return visit. Beyond the menu, the restaurant itself feels rundown. The furniture is in dire need of repair; the fake leather on the chairs was peeling like crazy, creating a noticeably worn and unprofessional look. Between the poor execution of the food and the tired atmosphere, this establishment is significantly overpriced for what it offers. I cannot recommend it.
Walked in and the place was already a mess. The bar sounded like a zoo. Just a pack of screaming hyenas turning the whole room into background noise you cannot escape. If you are coming for atmosphere, this one has plenty. Just not the kind you want. The drinks were worse. Heavy handed pours and sloppy mixes that tasted like regret. I was not sipping a cocktail, I was playing roulette. One drink hit like three and it was not fun, it was alarming. When your “signature” starts feeling like a liability, that is not a vibe, that is a warning label. Service was also all over the place. I was passed around between four different people including the bartender. No consistency, no ownership, no clue who is responsible for anything. At the end of the night you are not leaving a tip, you are donating to confusion. This place should be called Wellington’s because you will be well in time to leave. Not coming back.
Service and atmosphere were fine. But the food - my god, the food. Girlfriend and I both ordered striploin with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Steak was hard as rubber and unevenly cooked, tasted like steak you'd get in a school cafeteria. Broccolini was burned on the ends, and the stems were still raw and inedible. Mashed potatoes were grainy and flavorless. We paid $42 each for the same meal. It was quite literally the worst meal I have ever had out to eat, and the price made it so much worse. Management comp'd one of the meals, but it still stings. The food did not sit right in my gut and I was up until 130am that night unable to sleep, in and out of the bathroom. Beware of the food here. Do not trust the good reviews, I cannot comprehend how so many have rated this place 5 stars. The staff were all kind, considerate, and helpful. The food is the problem here. If you're just going for drinks, I'm sure it's fine. I wish I could erase the memory of that meal it was so bad, we each finished less than a third of our plates. Do not come here expecting good food. Do expect good service and a chill place to drink.
