Great neighborhood spot and super underrated pizza and pastas. Spicy pepperoni pizza almost rivals Prince St. super friendly staff too
Great pizza, great service. My kids and I love this place!
My favorite slice in New York! Nothing like being served food that makes you feel like part of the family. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
If you happen to be in the Lower East Side area buying food at the upcoming Trader Joes, and looking for cheap $.99 pizza, don't bother going to Alphonso. I actually came into here looking for some cheap pizza a few weeks ago to hold over my kids hunger. Bad mistake, I have since been coming back regularly for regular slices, vegetable slices, pepperoni slices, pasta specials (meatball and spaghetti, and baked zitti. I've noticed that the ingredients in the $.99 pizza are totally different. After eating the $.99 stuff, I am tired, groggy, foggy. With Alphonso stuff, I am more energetic. Best of all my kids like them also. My kIds do not like the spicy pepperoni, they like regular peperoni. The kids also like to have paramsean cheese sprinkled on their pizza. The chef usually put some real parmasean cheese on the slices when asked. They had a specially made Prosciutto topped pizza that was out of this world. I wished I took a picture of it. Yes, I like Prosciutto. Apparently, it's only made every once in a while.
They have the BEST Pizza 🍕 in the area. The staff is always friendly I try to go in at least 3-4times a week for my Slice
Great neighborhood type pizzeria+. Best Lasagna to be found on LES. Danny always prompt and cordial.
The best Pizzeria in Lower East Side been going there since it was called Pizza Shack
The pizza is the best that I have tasted in a long time. It is worth driving there for it
Spectacular dinner experience with an enormous amount of care and detail in every single dish served, including the plates and cutlery. We had an 8 course tasting menu which takes you through a mix of unique sea and land ingredients from both Italy and Canada, all carefully cooked and presented. Everything was special from start to finish but the dishes that stood out more for me were the eel gelato, bison filet, triglia with scarola, and final course of dessert with asparagus-white chocolate, raspberry, and hazelnut semifreddo. Atmosphere and service of Michelin Star level to match the incredible food. Bravissimo guagliò!
Best pizza I had while visiting NY, can’t recommend it enough. Make this a stop when you are in the city!
I like my neighborhood pizza shop is good it's sad I wish that they took more pride in that food especially like the chicken cutlets chicken fries bag and they took more pride in it but overall he's a good place and the people who care
A long time neighborhood staple run by a friendly and neighborly team. I am always happy to support their business with my love of pizza!
Very good pizza friendly staff definitely would eat here again
Best eggplant parm heroes around. Really good pizza too. Everything is always fresh and clean. Never too greasy.
Long time neighborhood pizza shop. Very friendly staff. Great pizza. I suggest trying the spicy sausage it's really good.
Food is delicious and the delivery is extremely fast! Highly recommend them for pizza and pasta!
Amazing place. Great portion size for a slice of pizza and priced well too .
I have been there once in a while, and it has always been a pleasure. Their food is good.
Top Pizza in NYC. Real ones know
This pizza is the ABSOLUTE most delicious pizza in NYC. I always order from here as my go-to because of how YUM it is. The and one time they delivered me the wrong kind, instead of being a-holes about it, they sent over the right one so quickly and kindly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Very delicious pizza & the service is always good. It might take a while if you are ordering a whole pizza. So call them ahead of time to place your order to avoid the wait. (but in my opinion, it is worth the wait) Support local business!
We were in town for 3 days and had pizza almost every single meal, this was by far the best place we experienced. All 4 of the people in our party agreed that if we had one place to go to again, this would be it. Friendly staff also, we couldn't have enjoyed it more!
This is truly the best margarita slice and pepperoni slice that I have ever eaten in NYC! You will not be disappointed, in fact, you will crave it regularly!!!!! Im NYC born and bred and have eaten pizza in every hot spot and hands down, this is my fav!!!
I went in to try the pizza and i wasnt disappointed. The pizza was delicious! Staff was friendly and the place was very clean. It was worth me hoisting my walker up to get in
What an amazing find!! We searched for a place close to pier 36 and we were so glad to find this place. We got to eat delicious pizza, panini, and fries. Also got to sit down next to the producer and star of the "Lost Corvette" show. A charming and friendly place that didn't break the bank.
Great little pizza spot - fresh ingredients- this is not a .99 cent pizza slice spot. This is real sauce, cheese and fresh dough. Interior has been redone and it's a great spot to sit inside and enjoy a slice.
Super friendly delivery guy. Amazing pizza. Super tasty plum tomato. Me and the lady will definitely be walking down the street next time to sit down and order. This is real NYC pizza.
Ohhh so great! It’s real old-school traditional NYC thin crust. A place to quickly grab a slice and wash it down with a Coke. You can’t go wrong with the chicken parmigiana.
I LOVE their Pizzas!! I always order the same mini pie because I'm so addicted to it. Lol Nice place and beautiful people. I just came to the states on December because of hurricane María and returning to my beautiful Puerto Rico on July, and will surely miss ya'll 💚
Great little pizza shop that offers by the slice and whole pizzas. One slice is filling enough for a meal. Guys behind the counter are lovely. Definitely recommend.
Consistently good pizza every time. A great spot to have local to the LES.
I haven’t had pizza this amazing in such a long time 🤩
Been going here since I was 5 and trust me, the quality has not dropped a bit. I always order the chicken parm hero or chicken roll which they always freshly make and it’s such a delight to have no matter the time of the day. Always show my friends this spot no matter what especially if they’re coming out of state.
The pizza is so good I had to stop mid eating the slice because everyone needs to be blessed by this flavor god of pizza. I needed to let the people know whats good. If you haven’t already, come bless your pallets. FYI the vodka sauce with the hot honey is a must try!
Stopped in with my 2yr old for a quick bite. The people were friendly and caring. Got 2 slices of grade A pizza. The crust is great, the sauce was perfect, cheese and toppings made for best slices we've had in a while anywhere. Highly recommend this gem in the neighborhood.
They make a excellent pizza. Customer service is great. I still like the product they produce. Sorry to say that at the moment their food grade has been removed and they now have a "grade pending". My last two visits were not pleasant. One time I'm eating my pizza and all I hear from the employees is ghetto talking with plenty of profanity. The following viisit the cashier has no etiquette whatsoever. I am disabled and no attempt was made to accommodate me. Perhaps all they care is to sell pizza. I enjoy the food but I hope they can brush on the other things I posted. Best of luck. They recently got their "A" grade back. I'm happy about that. The food is fresh and tasty. Good luck in maintaining your Grade.
They been here for over 20 years must have done something right
Love, love all their food!! From appetizers to entrees and everything in-between, you can expect loads of taste. Just wish that they would offer single slices of their pizza's including sicilian on their app. Sometimes a pie is too much but you still want a slice of their tasty pizza, cooked to perfection.
Very sweet! Ordered two beef patties and added mozzarella cheese which got deleted somehow so we were sent two plain beef patties. Since they’re right across the street from me, my boyfriend went to buy two more beef patties with cheese and they gave them to him on the house free of charge and apologized for the mishap. Wonderful customer service, super friendly and love love love their food!
The food is good the service is Amazing Best Pizza shop if u gonna go to the LES
I love the veggie slice! Really fresh veggies, and a generously sized slice! They told me everything was made fresh there. Great service too. If this place was in another part of town, the line would be down the block. Get there before social media blows the place up!
It's a relaxed, cozy little LES neighborhood place that sneaks up on you. Not just good because its close. It's really good pizza. served by good guys. A definite cut above the other LES slice places.
The best service, the best pizza, I highly recommend this place, it's incredible and the owner is a very good person 🤌🏻
I visited April 8, 2017. Drove in from Reading, PA for my cousins wedding. I'm born and raised in Brooklyn. This was my first stop at 1pm and the wedding reception wouldnt start till 5pm. This was brunch for me and hands down the best slice I've had in years. Nothing beats, NY pizza, it's the water. ❤🤌😘💋
I've ordered the Chicken Marsala pizza before but this last time they really kicked it outta the park! Loaded with chicken and mushrooms and cheese and a delicious sauce and crispy crust, it was actually quite PERFECT. Fattening, yes, and perfect!
The BEST Eggplant 🍆 Parmesan in town ‼️Friendly service, low key atmosphere, affordable pricing !!
Always great to walk in and get a slice or place a large order. Appreciate the whole crew there and the friendly atmosphere.
I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad and they brought me a plain salad and they gave me a hard time to change it. The girl in Brooklyn in the counter kept on going back-and-forth with me told me I had to wait for her boss to go back in 20 minutes and I told him to come and get this salad because this was not what I ordered paying 1050 per hour. I would’ve paid whatever the price was the chicken Caesar salad.
Wow I've never had a Sicilian pizza I liked until I tried here. They made me crave it. The dough is flavorful with a perfect crisp. Quality ingredients. The same goes for the garlic knots. Wow. We ate them all. The eggplant rollatini was like a restaurant. Every layer you could taste. Everything was fresh. Danny and Tito and the other guy were great. Best street pizza in nyc .
I definitely recommend trying this place the pizza was amazing the staff make you feel like you’re right at home. The kids can’t stop talking about how amazing the food was…
The best slice in the LES. A rotating cast of fresh slices and options. It feels like thought and care go into all the choices. Even the days when I arrive potentially disappointed that a slice I was craving isn’t available, I always find a new and great option. Even the simple things like pinwheels are made masterfully. Limited space inside. Prices are only a little more than your run-of-the mill pizza spot, but the freshness of ingredients and quality is top.
Not that famous, but one of the best NY style pizza slice you can try. Their vodka sauce is too delicious and also the regular cheese slice. It’s on not so busy streets of NYC but don’t forget to try this place if you’re visiting NYC. Near to Pier 36, so if you are going nearby Pier 36 must have a quick stop and grab a slice for you.
Definitely the best pizza floating around the LES. The quality justifies the price. Craftsmanship at its best. The flavors...GREAT. Plenty of seats. Friendly staff. Plenty of options to choose. The best way to get to this place would be through Mass transit. Parking would be extremely difficult to find around here. Is it worth a second trip? Definitely.
Good pizza by the slice or pie in a clean, modern store front. It's easy to overlook with minimal signige but worth a visit.
Love their pizza but the chicken marsala pizza needs to come off the menu in my opinion
My favorite pizza in the neighborhood. Food is way better than it looks 😆. Their dough and sauce are especially good.
Really good pizza. A little on the expensive side. No drinks or a restroom. But still an overall good experience. FYI the pizza rolls are a little spicy
Bit of an unknown pizza place that I would highly recommend for their Margherita slice. Not easy to get to but Lower East Side dwellers should give it a try.
Walking distance so location was very good. Variety menu. My pizza, soup, knots were pretty tasty too. I would recommend and would eat here again. Have some time because it's not fast food, rt?
They typically have great NYC pizza. However my last medium pie purchase with meatball, pepperoni and sausage with cheese was received with a burnt crust the entire bottom was burned. I ordered for pickup and didn't notice till I got home and bit into. I was disappointed but paid for it and was going to eat it anyway.
Alphonso’s Pizzeria is a medium-sized pizza and Italian eatery. very casual dine-in as well as takeout. decent-sized space with plenty of tables. Alphonso’s also delivers. can’t speak to the pizza—never had it. i have had the Sausage & Peppers on a hero roll. it was solidly good: grilled onions and peppers, the right amount of sauce, and sliced sausage on a soft long roll. wish there was more sausage on it, so it was an overstuffed sando. however no complaints otherwise.very shareable. ~$10 the fries are the real winner here. crispy outside and soft potato insides. the fries have that double-fried/batter crunch. only $3.50 for a hefty portion. delivery is fast if you’re in the area aka Lower East Side. drops mic cuz food is life
**Update:** 01-Jan-22 Turned out that the fault was in the 3rd party they use to fulfill their online orders. I received a call this afternoon explaining and they asked if I wanted the food or a refund. I chose the food. It arrived promptly. The garlic knots were very good, the pizza was good, I really like the cheese they use. *************************** 31-Dec-21 I usually order from the same places, today I decided to try this place since they left a flyer on my door recently. I ordered online, I placed my order at 755pm, at 815pm I receive the text shown in the pic. Once 915pm came I began calling, no one answered. My food never arrived, I didn't receive any messages with any updates.
I have read some the negative reviews and find them BLAH. The pizza is the best. The employes very kind and helpful. Months ago I had the corona virus and when I could eat solids i ordered a pie. They lady who took my order was so kind when I told her of my getting over illness: she placed a get well and feel better w a smily face. Dont get that most of the time. The pizza pies are 1 of the best in NYC. Thanks guys
Ordered the chicken parm hero and broccoli rabe, both items were ok ... nothing incredibly memorable ... haven't tried the pizza yet, but once I do, will come back and adjust review as necessary ...
I asked for thin crust cheese pizza with heavy sauce, the pizza was good but I feel that they could have been more generous with the sauce
The pizza was average. A bit doughy in my opinion. It is extremely tough to find good pizza in NYC these days.
It’s alright. Too doughy and was full of sauce and barely any cheese. The entire outer edge towards the crust was all sauce no cheese . Much better in person than when delivered and delivery takes way too long. Cold pizza isn’t great. Places farther have delivered quicker. I’ve had better.
Nice neighborhood pizza restaurant the food is good, depending on who's making the pizza that day. Certain days it's better than good. a slice will cost you 3 dollars, it's a little pricy compared to the dollar a slice pizza shops, but if you buy cheap you get cheap. so spend the extra 2 dollars if you have it.
I just bought two slice of pizza and when I bit into the second pizza I gagged on a long black hair very much a turn off might half to give them some time off for that one
Nothing special. Taste was fine. Service was slow. Pepperoni was sparce to say the least. Mozzerella sticks were square, which was werid to me.
The staff bickered noisily and rudely during a recent half-hour visit, which detracted from the tolerable (but certainly not prince street quality!) slices. The redone interior lacks charm. Follow-up: I stopped in for a slice. One of the staff angrily berated another while I was trying to pay. This made the visit immediately unpleasant.
I ordered shrimp alfredo from here! And i spent $18 on the worst shrimp alfredo i have ever had! i opened the bag too find a peice of bread literally just thrown in the bag not even wrapped! This bread im supposed to be eating is just thrown in the bag ! The pasta was undercooked i was biting into hard pasta! The alfredo sauce was watery and tasteless! I literally had too throw this food in a pan and add garlic and a lil salt! Im sooo upset growing up on the Lower East Side i used too come here with my late grandfather and their pizza was pretty decent! And i think pizza is what they need too stick too!
I have to agree the pizza has become inconsistent I haven’t ordered from them in a while back in late 90 and early 2000 their pizza was off the hook but it’s not so good the crust wasn’t like before I ordered 2 pies spending over 50 bucks and I wasn’t happy with the pies asa matter of fact my family left almost a whole one we didn’t enjoy I wish I could have ordered from somewhere else the pizza has fallen off
Over priced, rude I miss the original owners when it was pizza shack. I do not recommend anymore .. hospitality goes a long way and this place does not have this..I rather go somewhere further and be treated with respect
Not that good pizza. Di Faras, Denino, Luie and Ernies, New Park and Bleeker street. Any other pizza are just ordinary.
I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe I wanted my burger medium well when I received my order my burger was gray from the outside and in. I was discussed I threw it away what a waste of money especially in times we living in now.
I placed an order and an hour later I called them because I had not received the order and I was told that I was next in line for the delivery. Which meant that I would have had to wait another 30 minutes. I will never order from them again.
Came in for a veal cutlet hero. Manager just wanted the money. Acted like he was bothered. This is not the first time. This is not the original owner who was great. $12.50 for a small hero with a few pieces of veal. Taste not bad. Cook is good. Half was gone in 5 bites. He packed it up to go and didn’t ask if it was to stay. I took it out of the bag and was disappointed. He grabbed the bag off the counter hard. This neighborhood oasis is now a desert. I will not return. I’ll go not a half block away where they are nice and the food is wholesome.
I used to order from this place all the time. Almost weekly. They know me. Tonight I call to place an order and someone new on the phone tells me that they are back up with deliveries so they are not taking any. This person told me they have 7 orders and only 2 delivery people so they could not take any more orders at the moment. I asked when they could. She said she didn’t know. I explained I’m a regular and she said she didn’t care. I then asked if I should just take my business elsewhere moving forward and she hung up the phone. If you have new staff and they can’t handle 7 orders with 2 delivery people in nyc, sounds like you need new staff. Also be professional and not sound clueless. EDIT: To response below. I never was told that information about delivery men getting hurt. Also, I never called again about a salad dressing later. I never called again after the hang up or placed an order from my phone (please check your phone records). This just shows dishonesty because none of that is factual. Also, why are you listening in to your employees phone calls when you are too busy to take orders? That does not make sense as well.
I've ordered from this place twice before, the food is okay but everytime the guy delivers the food I don't give a tip cause I include it in the total charge because I don't carry money. He always gives me a dirty look. While today I ordered and they cancelled my order. They claim they couldn't charge my card, funny how I can see the pending charge. Further more, the charge is now being reversed. I look Muslim to people but I'm not and that could also be a reason why I'm not getting my food. All I know is this place sucks.
The owner of the place is very friendly, I meet him once while passing by I didn’t get the chance to try the food that day. However I came back another day, and the the cashier girl, lady, and heavy set guy that makes the pizza, are very gh3tto garbage low live services. They’re very rude disrespectful towards me and my close family. I ordered a large plain pizza pie and it was burnt on the bottom. The place was unsanitary I didn’t want to eat there but I gave it a try. I also noticed a bum from outside picked up some leftover food from the garbage that was outside, and came inside sat down, and eat it. The chairs are out of place, tables were a mess with dried tomato sauce and dirty napkins. They use profanity in front of little kids. My advice is run from this place, it’s not worth the overpriced money. I also found out they where rated B recently for having rats in the basement. 🐀🗑 I hope the owner gets his staff disciplined. SMH...
pizza is below average. I also heard them saying they don't want nypd cops buying food. i live up the block and appreciate when i see the police around. hopefully the police will respond quickly when they need help.
I have been going here for years. This time I Ordered on seamless, got the food rather quick but they forgot my soda, the delivery guy apologized and said he’d bring me one. I said ok thank you. After 10 minutes I called the store and the guy one the phone rudely replied “ then send it back. don’t want it, send it back. Or I can credit you.” Being a little shocked I said “I’m just asking because it’s been a little while and the guy said he’d bring another soda” then he replied with “ well I’ve been working with him for 20 years if he said he’ll bring it he PROBABLY will”. Then I hung up because it’s completely ridiculous for him to basically laugh at me for asking for what I paid for and checking when the delivery guy would be back. The food is good but after that phone call alone I won’t be back. I don’t blame delivery guy mistake happen but the person picking up the phone was a jerk
Frame on the wall says paying too little is bad but this place charges an arm and a leg for pizza that tastes like it’s days old
horrible pizza and extremely rude staff. gave me a hard time when trying to order and yelled “finally” when my brother and i got up to leave after only having sat for about ten minutes to eat our slices. pizza was extremely undercooked and tasteless. i’ve been coming here since i was a kid and it’s only gotten worse and worse every time i’ve gone. makes sense now why it’s always empty.
Ordered Caesar Salads expecting to receive Caesar dressing with my salad but no, they sent Italian dressing. Fix your online ordering menu to default to Caesar dressing for the Caesar Salad. This has happened 3 times already.
Prices on the menu was not accurate. I was charged more than expected. When I mentioned it, they told me that the prices were not up to date. They should have at least informed me of price discrepancies before payment.
The food was decent, but the customer service was not that nice, although they did get my order in very fast. The lady at the checkout gave me a nasty look and said, 'Don't snatch the money.' I don't think I even snatched it; I was just grabbing it to put it back into my wallet. The lady was giving me attitude and almost seemed to be zoning out. I was not doing it intentionally, even if the lady thinks I was, she was incredibly rude to me. The atmosphere was ok, and it was clean. Other than the customer service, everything was great.
feels like this place has become a $1.50 slice spot in disguise. quality is hit or miss. sometimes im getting a pepperoni pie and there's missing pepperonis all over the place. for over $30 for a pie you gotta at least give me some pepperonis. staff can be rude too. i walked in to order a large pie and they looking at me like im trying to order sesame chicken from the deli counter.
I used to like the pizza here. But now it’s disgusting since the man with the dark blond hair likes to serve certain people old pizza that he has hidden under the counter. The first time I didn’t noticed what he done and I was served old burnt pizza, you couldn’t even see the cheese. But the last time I went there I watched him, there were fresh slices at the top and instead of giving me one of those he reached down under the counter and pulled out an old burned slice, I asked him why would you serve me that he said because I wanted pepperoni and the cheese will go all over that didn’t make sense to me. I had no problem with the girl and the other man with the black hair they always gave me fresh pizza. Thank goodness the other pizza shop opened back up down the block.
