Excellent coffee and friendly staff. I also had an almond tart that was very good. I want to try the Brazilian cheese breads. I have had some before but these looked much better. It was early in the morning though and they are more of a lunch food.
I have over 20 years of experience in customer service and I will tell you: this team does their best! ver professional and supper attentive and supportive if you are ordering catering. Food is amazing! I
Brazilian Cheese Bread is delicious. Sweet pastries are pretty good also. Small place, and seats are usually full inside during popular times. There is outdoor seating during warm seasons. Friendly staff.
A hidden gem place. Love coming here for a quick bite and a drink. The little cheese pastries are amazing!
This is the most loveliest cafe in the area. The pastries are just delectable. I had 5 pao de quiejos which were split in the original flavor and the onion and chive. Mind blowingly GREAT. I'll be back to try more things! Also, service here is top notch. They're all friendly & welcoming with great smiles and energy. This place has so many people in & out! They have everything you could want - definitely a must try.
Love their coffee and many savoury breakfast choices. Pao de queijo fresh from the oven is their special and love it😋. Staff is super friendly, a very nice and neat coffee place. I would have given it 6 stars ⭐️ if possible
What a hidden gem! Cozy and delicious coffee shop! Had their pao de queijo and cake of the day. Loved everything! Their staff are so friendly and welcoming! It will be definitely my coffee spot in FiDi!
Visited here in early December. A cute and quaint little breakfast spot know for it's Brazilian breakfast options. Ended up getting the Broccoli and Cheddar Quiche and it was delicious. And you can easily walk to the pier to have an amazing view of the East river and Brooklyn Bridge while you enjoy your breakfast.
Best hot chocolate in town! Great service, food and location
Cafe Patoro is an amazing place for light food and coffee. Amazing Avocado Toast and the Dulce de Leche Latte is fantastic! Great, friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Hands down my favorite cafe in NYC. Exceptional coffee, friendly service, and the pastries are insanely good. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Had a wonderful brunch experience at this brazilian cafe! It’s glute free friendly because they use tapioca flour for most food items! Must try is pao de queijo. Chewy yet soft with the right amount of teeth resistance! They have 3 flavors — original, everything and jalapeno. Cornbread is impressive, with dense and crumbly texture, and the perfect coarseness. Do try the unique latte inspired by Brigadeiro, a traditional Brazilian chocolate ball. It’s heartwarming sweet, comforts you immediately. Savory items are good as well! Who can say no to tapioca crepe with runny egg yolk! The chicken tapioca is generously stuffed with flavorful chicken.
We didnt have food but ordered drinks, this Review is obly based on that (for now). We had ice brazilian brigadeiro latte and ice dulce de leche latte, AMAZING!!! Service is great, staff is super kind, coffee tastes amazing . I love the Spanish latte coffees and the dulce de leche one is very similar and even better than the Spanish latte from arabica. 20/10
Love this place. They need to have Cafe Pataros placed in every great city across the planet, numerous locations in each city at that!!! This is my go to while I’m working in downtown Manhattan, and it will always be when I’m here on weekends with the family! Thank you for warming my heart and filling my stomach Cafe Pataro!!!
The brigadeiro latte is something worth waking up for. And my companion said “this might just be the best banana bread I have ever had”
Great Brazilian pastry. Tastefully designed place. Nice people. Have never tried Brazilian cheese breads until yesterday, when I happened to be in downtown for work. Was impressed with the variety and multiple vegetarian options: Black Olives, Pesto, Original, Jalapeno and Roasted Garlic. All these cheese breads were super tasty and... light (rare combination:-). Also was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their coffee. Staff was super nice and helpful. One interesting difference from other coffees I have noticed. In an average cafe after you order at the counter, you usually wait until your name is "yelled". Then you usually go and grab your food/drink. These guys actually would bring the order right to where you are. Small thing, but makes a huge difference. Will definitely be back.
I love when I discover a nice place like this one !!! It’s a Brazilian coffee shop, very small but very gourmet … they have delicious coffee, Brazilian pastries, Pao de queijo ! And it’s on front street in the beautiful South Street seaport neighborhood ! I went 2 times and found a line, it went quick and I left with my coffee 10 minutes later
Stopped for a quick little eat-in breakfast. They have a small dining area that was perfect for 2. We had a couple of Lattes, the egg salad sandwich (2 snack size sandwiches with an arugula salad), the famous assorted cheese bread balls, and a blueberry muffin. All delicious, I highly suggest grabbing a dozen of the bread balls to snack on during the day at the office. A huge crowd pleaser.
Café Patoro is one of the best cafes in the city! Pedro is the best and provides friendly, efficient service. Please go here!!
Stopped into this little Brazilian cafe to try some of their Pão de Queijo - Brazilian Cheese Bread, and while the food was delicious, we also found that the atmosphere and overall vibe of the cafe was welcoming and relaxed. It's in a great location, seconds away from a decent view of the Brooklyn Bridge, and the staff were all extremely friendly. Despite being here in the morning there was no extreme rush, and tables would fill and empty at a leisurely pace. Most of the other patrons were happy to clean up after themselves and each other, which is nice to see. I'd definitely come back here, and maybe stop for some tea or coffee if I have more time. Great place, highly recommended!
I’ve been traveling to Brazil a few times a year for the past 8 years and it baffles me that in a country full of gourmet brigadeiro shops I haven’t come across gourmet Pão de Queijo before I stumbled into Cafe Patoro in downtown Manhattan of all places. Pão de Queijo at Cafe Patoro beats any I’ve tried in the cities of São Paulo, Santos, Socorro, Monte Sião (MG), Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba or Gramado. My absolute favorites were the Bacon & Maple PDQ and the Garlic PDQ. My Brazilian girlfriend and I came here for breakfast during our three day stay in NYC and ate at least 4 dozen PDQs and a few Chicken Empanadas which were amazing as well.
The plain Pao de queijo heated up are one of the most delicious things in NYC. Some things in life are never as good as you remember them, but not here. I've been coming here since they opened and they never fail.
Fav local coffee place in this neighborhood! Staff is always friendly, the coffee is great and you defs want to try some bites!
The staff was great and they made the best coffee. An ideal balance of latte and coffee.
Super yummy and simple Brazilian Cafe, wide coffee selection with excellent tasting espresso, very nice and attentive staff, chill vibes with seating though no charging outlets, small bite foods and larger bites as well, gluten-free, on first times, definitely should try brigadeiro latte (not too sweet 👏🏼) and original cheese bread, Nice low-key spot for meeting friends or sitting and doing work, there’s a dozen cheese breads for 10$ on weekdays from 3-4pm!
Great coffee and even better service. Thanks for accommodating our group today!
Visited this morning with my boyfriend whilst we’re in NYC - the latte was good, the breakfast sandwich was so yum, really good combination of flavours. But the caramelised banana bread - oh my goodness, I wish I could have this shipped back home to the UK. So so so good! Also really friendly servers and a nice place to sit and eat!
A great little cafe to grab something delicious to go. They have a few small outside tables and a long bench inside but better to take your food to go and sit by the water. Their chai is the best I’ve had. I tried it hot with oat milk - so delicious and I love their Pao De Queijo. They will heat them up for you if you ask.
Cutest Brazilian cafe we stumbled into after a boat excursion at the piers. Had the most amazing salad with boiled eggs and a lemon vinaigrette. Ate every bite. Also had the egg salad sandwich, delicious. The staff was so friendly as they were starting to close up for the day. They shared some of their famous cheese bread and it is worth it! And finished with a stuffed chocolate chip cookie, heavenly.
Since 2019, when I'm in NYC, I go by every Saturday for a coffee and some cheesebreads. The coffee has a very good taste and is strong. The cheesebreads are as you get them in Brazil also very authentic - there are none better in the area - you have to try these. The team is always super friendly.
Discovered this bakery while staying around the corner. Service is five stars, food is five stars, coffee is five stars. I have also had the avocado toast & went back multiple days in a row for the dulce de leche latte. Bacon egg and cheese sandwich is one of the best ever- hot, bacon bites off & the cheese is perfectly melted. Cheese bread is a must try too - 3 different kinds (everything, original and jalapeño). They do have a happy hour where you can purchase a dozen cheese bites for $10.00.
We were exploring the neighborhood by the pier while waiting for a ferry to the Statue of Liberty. So glad we stopped in for a small bite. The service was great, the establishment is small and spotless clean My coffee was excellent. The true hit were the little sandwiches. My wife and daughter enjoyed cookies too. We will be back.
Great service and flavorful drinks that make you want to come back. Their main attraction is, however, the cheese breads. These are delicious cheese breads with unique flavors. However, it would be nice if they would warm it up for you without request—as they are more often enjoyed in South America.
The food here surprises with every bite! Every team member is genuinely welcoming. Their meals taste uncommonly good. This spot gives a positive impression. I'll be back to this place without question.
Really enjoyed their waffles and PDQ sandwiches. The iced tea is very delicious and I would recommend it. Seating is limited but everything can be taken to go and enjoyed on the pier. The brigadeiro cookie sandwich is also really good, the cookies are soft enough that they don't crumble but sturdy enough to eat single handed.
Casual/cozy Brazilian coffee shop in Seaport. I stopped in for a late breakfast on a Saturday afternoon. It was a very chilly winter day so there weren’t too many patrons. I ordered a cappuccino and pesto chicken sandwich. The cappuccino was good, but I was really blown away by the sandwich. I love how they used pão de queijo as a bun! I just got back from Rio and can honestly say that the pão de queijo here was just as good if not better than the ones I ate in Brazil! Friendly service and the coffee/food came out quickly!
Me and a dear friend had breakfast here and the coffee walnut with oatmeal latte was devine! Also to mention the brazillian cheese puff was warm and delicious! Staff was amazing and service excellent. Felt such a local in New York City. Will deffinitely come back and stop over again when back in NYC. Must try? Everything ! all was made fresh daily and price was just right! Would recommend the all toping cheese puffs with the sesame seeds devine!!
The staff are fantastic - love Rafael and Eric especially but they're all lovely!!! Very nice drinks although I think they have changed their coffee supplier recently and the coffee is not as nice. Still good but the other type was delicious. Great baked goods! They have gluten-free goodies for those who need them. It's warm, inviting and comfortable. I go every single week without fail and have done for the last few years ☺️
If you're looking for high quality coffee and breakfast in the seaport/financial district area, Patoro hits the spot. The cappuccino is strong and tasty to kickstart the day. I love the bacon, egg & cheese sandwich with the noticeably delectable bacon. I'd honestly pay $20 (menu price is $15) for a few more strips in the sandwich. All the ingredients are top notch & you get what you pay for. The different varieties of pão de queijo were also a pleasant surprise with the "everything" (like a bagel), a personal fave. All are soft, warm, chewy. Staff is really friendly, and the Brazilian vibes is a nice change of pace from other generic cafes in the area and city.
It was not easy finding a solid cafe in the Seaport area. Thankfully a shopworker in the area recommended Cafe Patoro. It was an inspired suggestion. Service was friendly & polite. Lighting is bright. Tables & chairs are modest. Families were enjoying a snack. They have a vast selection of baked goods & savoury plates. They know how to make a very flavourful flat white & latte.
A small and cute cafe near Seaport. I usually walk my pup around the neighborhood and like to stop by this cafe from time to time (my pup also drags me to that cafe so she can pick up some crumbs on the ground). I always pick up a bag of Pao de Queijo. And this time, brought some to work to share with my coworkers which they really enjoyed. My fave is the original but they do have other options like everything bagel seasoning and bacon with cheese. They also have other Brazilian pastries and sandwiches which I have yet to try. Will be back to try their coffee and other pastries. But if you enjoy Brazilian cheese bread, definitely a must try.
A lovely Brazilian café with fantastic pastries. The Pão de Queijo is a standout, especially with unique twists like the everything and jalapeño flavors, which add a fun spin to the traditional flavor. Their sweets are also very yum - the almond croissant is buttery without being overly sweet, the cornbread is rich in corn flavor, and the caramelized banana bread is wonderfully moist and soft. Every pastry is a winner here!
Tiny little Cafe in this lovely area. Speciality is their little cheese breads which sold at 5 ball pieces for$6-. I can say they are quite delicious and came in traditional cheese, kalmata olive, and gluten free versions. The Bacon and Egg toastie was also delicious. The cafe is small.. seating a max of 15 people along a line of 5 small square tables but it seems to work fine with a large number of customers popping in for takeaway orders. The staff are super helpful, friendly and even though you bus your own table, there is a jovial, familial feel to the cafe that serves it well. Highly recommend pit stop if you're in the area.
Very nice little Brazilian coffee shop. The refresher drinks are great! Fruity and just what you need for the summer. The cheese breads are great too. The service was super nice - they explained everything, very calm, friendly, patient! Totally recommended for a quick drink and a few dessert/cheese bread snacks.
We stopped during a beautiful day for some Brazilian Cheese Bread, my wife is Brazilian and my girlfriend half Japanese and Brazilian so we all trotted day one fine Sunday. Needless to say, it did not disappoint; cheesy is an understatement. Soft and fresh, a bodacious savory snack while exploring the Seaport area. The second is Brigadeiro cake, chocolate is and understatement again!! I know now I love Brazilian women, they tasteful and magical people - one cannot go wrong with the food or culture.
Amazing coffee shop! The Brazilian cheese puffs are not to be missed. The pastries and sandwiches are all made fresh in house and of high quality. They have oat, soy, and almond milk for alternatives and whole and 2% for dairy options. The place is a bit small inside but full of charm and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend checking this place out on your walk around the seaport district.
Legitimately the best pão de queijo I've had in my life. If you come between 3-4 PM on weekdays, you can get 1 dozen for $8, rather than the $1/each price that they are usually. Beverages are fantastic and feel affordable, unlike so many spots in NYC. I'm so glad that we found it because after my husband and I went in to our hotel with my au lait and my husband's drip coffee, the staff at the front desk said it was the best coffee shop in the area!
Really great coffee - the best I got so far in NYC! Friendly personal as bonus!
This bakery is incredibly delightful! The Brazilian cheese bread and caramelized banana loaf are outstanding. The dulce de leche latte was also a treat. I can't recommend this place enough!
Good dark roast coffee. The pao were decent, a good addition to the coffee. The cake was also good, but what disappointed me was the cake serving. I had two, one at the table and one to go. The one to go was so small, nearly half the size of the one we had at the table. Was shocked when I reached home to have iI was
Loved the pan de quejio. I can’t say I’ve had an authentic one so I don’t have a good baseline, but on the relative scale of a good breakfast snack- this is up there. They’re fresh and they heat them up for you, and they’re perfectly chewy and savory. The pictures don’t do them justice, just try! Coffee was just OK!
This was a very neat cafe that focused on Brazilian flavors. I will say I thought the food may have over shadowed the beverages but I also don't drink coffee so don't hang on my word there. I got a matcha latte I've had better but obviously I don't think that's what this place specializes in so I think it can be forgiven. I had the a croissant sandwich and my lady had these prosciutto sandwiches (sorry I don't know the exact names) they we're both outstanding albiet maybe on the pricey side but you're in the seaport district so it's to be expected.
Breakfast was great! No flavored lattes, but the coffee was good! The croissant sanwhich is their “breakfast sandwich.” This sandwich has their house sauce, which has horseradish in it. Very good! The egg muffin sandwich is their “bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich.” The bread bites are a Brazilian specialty and have assorted flavors. Get there early, because the bread bites sell out! Indoor seating is limited.
We walked in and were received by glum faces. Unfortunately I didn’t walk right out and go to the coffee shop at McNally Jackson. Coffee served in takeaway cups was good. Cookie served in a bag was just ok. While we were having this, the blinds of the place were pulled down and at 4:01 we were told that they were closed. A group of three who were the only other clients said, what…you want us to leave right now? Yes was the blunt response. So we finished off our drinks outside. Perhaps a better customer service approach would have been to say as we arrived that they close in 10 minutes.
I’m not sure why everyone leaves such good reviews about this place. Yes it’s aesthetically pleasing to look at, people seemed to be enjoying themselves, but the brigadeiro latte I got tasted like water with some chocolate sprinkles. The sandwich was good, but isn’t filling for the price they charge. It was one small drink, and a croissant breakfast sandwich - for it to be charged total 20 something dollars is insane. Furthermore, I told the owner that I was running late and I would be there around 10:30 instead of my pick up time of 10 o’clock. So I’m not sure why I got a notification on my phone that at 9:30 AM my order was ready. I have attached a screenshot of the confirmation that my order was ready and the call log in which I had spoken to the owner that he told me my order was being made around 8:18 AM. I arrived a little earlier than expected, approach the counter cheerfully and asked for my order assuming it was ready because I got a confirmation. The owner was unsmiling from the beginning and says to me snappishly that I said 10:30. My order was still in the process of being made. I apologized politely and I said lost track of time. I was taken back by the hostility. I didn’t think to show him my confirmation text that it had been ready ahead of time. It’s strange because he said during the call that my order was already being made. So I said politely OK not a problem and I waited at the side for both my drink and the sandwich. I thanked the owner each time something was ready and he just averts eye contact with me and says nothing walking away. I was not impolite and really didn’t understand the coldness I was received. I understand they were busy for the morning rush, but I received a confirmation that my order was ready ahead of time, so I’m not sure if there was a misunderstanding in the kitchen, but I should not have received a confirmation, if my order was not even made yet because I had spoken with the owner beforehand coming to the café. There was no reason for the uncalled for hostility especially when I was polite, I had received a confirmation text ahead of time and was told by the owner my order was already being made around 8:18 AM, an hour before I had even arrived at the café. In addition, the price is too much for one small drink, and a sandwich. The drink as I said, just tasted of water with chocolate sprinkles.
Just ordered a cappuccino and they gave me warm milk and water because there was literally NO coffee in. I paid $11 plus tip for that and a pastry. This has got to be a joke to advertise cappuccino and not put coffee in it. When I got back to work and poured the drink out, it was only milk and cinnamon. I'm so mad and will never visit this place again.
