Lively ambiance - standing / bar room and tables and booth dining areas. Delicious strong cocktails, great bread and olive oil. Lasagna was a tad salty but big and flavorful!
We had dinner here for our daughter's 15th birthday dinner prior to seeing a show on Broadway. The staff was so kind to her and really went the extra mile to make her feel special! This was truly a highlight of her trip. I cannot thank them enough for making her day that much more special. Highly recommend!
After eating here, I cannot imagine finding better Italian cuisine on the American continent. I had the spaghetti carbonara, my wife had penne a la vodka with shrimp, and sis-in-law had lasagna. I was not fully prepared for the excellence of this food. I knew it would be good, but it exceeded all expectations. The restaurant itself was perfect in its decor and feel. The staff all were friendly and we never wanted for anything. Also, get the limoncello!
Just had lunch there yesterday. Our waiter was so attentive and friendly. The food was amazing too. My friends and I were still talking about the food a few hours later.
Great place to sit outside and people watch. Angel was a GREAT server and offered good wine suggestions and provided excellent service. Good wine list with reasonable prices. We only had the cheesecake to eat (made inhouse), which was good. The food coming out of the kitchen smelled wonderful. Highly recommended!
One of the best and oldest in Little Italy. Since it was the last ‘hot’ summer evening of the year, we chose to sit outside. It was spacious and other guests were in good manners (not loud or smoking). We ordered a couple of frozen margaritas and moscato, which were so appropriate for the day! They gave us some complimentary yum bread with olive oil. After that we ordered pizza with prosciutto and seafood risotto. Portion was generous and taste was very classy, just like what you have in Italy. Price was good for such amazing outdoor space and friendly service. It was a lovely evening seeing people walk and enjoy their time. Would definitely recommend this place.
This is hands down, the best restaurant we were at. NYC has such great service, but these guys were great. Drinks, fantastic. Atmosphere, fantastic. Food, fantastic. Service, phenomenal. I personally recommend the lunch fish with penne alla vodka. I can not say enough. The cheesecake was fabulous. I will come back to NYC just for this.
Went there this past Sunday. 12/5/21…I had filet of sole and hubby had rib eye … very delicious food; amount was plenty…my fish was made with butter and white wine… the steak was super!..Staff was friendly. The only thing (to me only.. it’s a personal preference) they don’t give nothing on the house (you know like chips in a Mexican restaurant?) but didn’t matter cause prices were ver reasonable. A great experience for us… I also had the “smooth criminal” drink 🤭 really good if you like smoky mezcal…as you can see we cleaned the plates🤣🤣
I went here for brunch, but their whole menu sounded delicious. I got their Eggs Benedict with salmon and it was so good! Most of my friends got the breakfast pizza which was my close second choice and they all looked amazing. Drinks were good as well and so was the service. I didn’t even realize how long this place had been around until I looked it up. I loved the old-style look of it all. I’ll definitely be going back to try more!
As a local, I love this restaurant! The service is amazing and the lunch special is amazing - get the chicken franchase and garlic oil pasta - $19!!!! Everything is wonderful

Does not have all home made pasta. However the chicken parm was very good and they have a vegetable substitution option instead of pasta. Dish was very good. Fettuccine Alfredo was excellent. …
Great service and great food with a clean nice environment and ambience. Really service makes it stand out and the handmade pasta is authentic as it gets!
Charus and I came here for lunch. We were going to go somewhere else but we been here before and decided that we liked the food that we could come again. We took advantage of their lunch special, they had a happy hour going but they didn't tell us about until we asked about it. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and vodka pasta. The food was delicious and tasty. It came out piping out. I like the flavor of the breading of the chicken parm. I just wish the parm had breading on both sides. I like the flavor of the vodka sauce. The combo worked go together. Charus got the fish oreganata. The sauce was delicious and taste. It tasted so good, I kept sticking pieces of bread to sneak some sauces. The fish was tasty but a bit mushy. We got a few drinks and they were tasty. We ordered a white sangria and mezcaloma. We liked the mezcaloma the best. It was strong and had a good flavor. The sangria was a bit weak and too much. And the best part, they gave fresh warm bread for free!!
We decided to dine at Grotta Azzura Restaurant one Friday evening. Despite having a reservation for 9:15 PM, we arrived at 8:45 PM only to be informed that they wouldn't honor it due to the restaurant closing at 10:00 PM. It seemed more like a desire to close early rather than a lack of available tables, as the hostess suggested. However, we were offered seating at the bar, which turned out to be a pleasant experience. The bartender was exceptionally courteous and professional. For our meal, we ordered the pasta Alfredo with shrimp, which was exquisite. To conclude, we indulged in the chocolate mousse, which was also delightful. Despite the unfriendliness and lack of professionalism displayed by the hostess, I would still recommend this restaurant solely based on the quality of the food. It's advisable to arrive early to avoid any inconvenience, given that the kitchen closes at 10:00 PM. Overall, a worthwhile dining experience.

Food was very...average. Nothing spectacular. Fried calamari was one of the most crispy calamari I've had. But couldn't really taste the octopus. My pasta was light, not much seasoning. The pork risotto-like dish (can't remember the name) was tender. The complimentary bread and butter was the part. One thing I would like to note is the ambiance. Low lighting and good windows with a bar area made this place a nice spot for a dinner date.

Another place in New York with shitty food. Either the customer is so indiscriminate, or maybe I'm just too picky, but you know... such simple recipe as a Caesar salad with three croutons is completely dry, the portion is small, and the pasta is overcooked. There's nothing interesting about this food at all. No, I'd say it's probably more likely to be bad than mediocre. I can't say anything about the service because of busy day. I don't understand these admiration reviews. Guys, are you serious? even starting serving with these plastic cups of free water? Of course, I paid the entire bill in full and expressed my dissatisfaction to the waiter. And the surprised waiter tells me, " ..people love this place .." So it turns out that we, as customers , create this problem ourselves when we admire mediocre restaurants…!?
