Amazing food so worth it and not a tourist trap. Service was fast and on point, our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Restaurant is beautiful and a great atmosphere filled the room. It is a nice spot during the feast to sit down for some good food.

The best and only the best restaurant is Little Italy New York !! Family owned for 40 years. All the others are fake Italian food. Trust me we have been there every time we are in New York. Trust me outstanding food and service

This was a really great experience for us! We wanted to eat some amazing food for our birthday celebration and this didn’t disappoint! We shared the penne pasta with vodka sauce and it was delicious. The red homemade sangria was also delicious

Great food and great atmosphere. The avocado bruschetta was amazing, we also had calamari which was hot and fresh. The wine was so good my husband and I took a photo of it. The pasta sauce was flavorful. Even the tiramisu and chocolate cake were divine. My brother and his wife actually dined here in Sept and recommended my husband and I to come here. Really great spot- will go again!

Omg a must go if in Manhattan! This place has a 50 year old menu for a reason the food is to die for! Such amazing throwback to real service the way it is meant to be! The whole meal was above and beyond!

We wanted the best food in Little Italy, and this may have been it. Aside from an extremely drunk customer at a nearby table (part of the local flavor), it was a great evening.

Delicious food, wonderful service, beautiful atrium, and really cool memorabilia! Also decorated so festively for Christmas. If you are ordering appetizers try the zucchini fries! We split the lobster ravioli and the penne vodka, both were fantastic.

A beautiful Italian restaurant with delicious food in Little Italy - NYC🗽🍝 We had an untraditional Thanksgiving dinner here, and it did not disappoint! Atmosphere: The space has outdoor seating with a canopy over the tables, indoor seating in various rooms in the restaurant, and an indoor courtyard area. They have a small, unique seating area when you first come in that really sets the tone for the space (in a good way)! The courtyard area is in the back and provides a more secluded space for guests. Service: Our waiters were friendly and made sure that all of our drinks were constantly filled. The food came out quickly despite the busyness of the evening picking up. Menu items: They bring out a fresh assortment of bread at the beginning which helps to accommodate different preferences for everyone at the table. I got their Capellini Piselli e Prosciutto Speciali and loved it. The two things that I liked the most about the pasta was that the portion size was large and the pasta didn’t feel heavy in my stomach after I ate (and I ate the whole plate, hah)! Il Cortile provides a great dining experience! If you’re ever in Little Italy, it would be my recommendation to you!

Came here and the staffs are so welcoming, place been open for 40 plus years. The staffs were nice and attentive. Place looks traditional and rusty feel, the menu looks huge literally. The bread was cold but could ask to heat it up. The food was big portion could be shared if you ate too much bread. Pasta was delicious and flavorful. Overall great place for pasta if your in little italy.

Wow. Really good food and service. This was recommended by our Lyft driver, Vito. Lovely outdoor seating on the street and a lovely indoor garden. We had the Spaghettini Puttanesca and it was perfect. Drinks - margarita and dry vodka martini were also excellent.

If I could give more than 5 stars, this place deserves it. The restaurant is located in Little Italy. Everything is cooked perfectly and delicious. I will never get tired to go back to this place and try different dishes. They have so many varieties of dishes on the menu. I’ve been to NYC so many times, but this is the first time I came here to celebrate my birthday. They sang me happy birthday in Italian (at least that’s what I think lol 😂) That’s so cool. I finally found ambrosia red wine at this place. It’s a little too strong for me, but it’s pretty good. All the seafood dishes I tried are so delicious. The calamari is very tender and delicious 😋 The Bronzini and jumbo shrimp in marinara sauce is perfect. The seafood linguine in white sauce is also delicious and the seafood was cooked just right! You can have it in red sauce as an option. The mussels is sautéed with tomatoes, jalapeños, garlic and white wine. It’s so good! It’s not too spicy but it has a little bit of a kick. Dark chocolate covered Pistachio ice cream is delicious. It has chunks of pistachios. I will definitely go back to this place. Highly recommended!!! 😋

Amazing experience. Most wonderful and generous staff. The owner even let us use his external phone charger during dinner. The wait staff was so kind and amazing. We had a band some in and play live Christmas music during our meal. The kids were entertained, the food was great, and the atmosphere was second to none. Highly recommended.

IL Cortile 125 Mulberry St. New York, NY 10013 Pollo Parmigiana In lieu of the traditional sauce, I substituted vodka sauce for the chicken parmesan. For the small upcharge, it was definitely worth it as I cleared my plate like a Hoover vacuum!

I had the scampi and soooooo good! The service was amazing, not overly in your face, but also very attentive. The food was flavorful, fresh and natural. I saw the garlic chunks. They deveined the shrimp. The seasonings were added in the right amounts. Also the vibe is great for an upscale dinner/lunch or just a casual stop in like we did with regular street clothes! Knockout Italian spot amongst the many on the street!

Wow! Went here for restaurant week and absolutely loved it. Got a beautiful bread basket that I wish I could’ve had more of. Started with a white wine sangria and moscow mule. The sangria was nice and flavorful, and not too sweet. Our appetizers were the baked clams and caprese. The baked clams were out of this world! They were tiny and delectable. The caprese was really good as well. I got the pepite de gnocchi which was good, but I didn’t like something about the sauce. My partner got the capellini special and he had raving reviews! To finish it off we got a ricotta cheesecake and a chocolate and ricotta layered cheesecake which was phenomenal!! The servers were very attentive. Excited to go back again.

While thier gnocchi is more like a manicotti shell, I had great time. The desserts were awesome, and great decor. Would recommend for a first date.

Went there today while at the San Gennaro feast. Date and I just decided to randomly just stop in. The food was 👌 🔥 And the atmosphere was amazing. The restaurant was huge, it had a lot of rooms. We sat in an area known as "the garden." Very romantic. Everything was super on point, including the wait staff. They were super accommodating, even giving me a machiatto espresso on the house because it wasn't brought out in time for dessert. The food was to die for, I had their pesto and I loved it. It's very hard to please me when it comes to Italian food, and this was fantastic. It really is award winning like they claim. 10/10 would 100 percent go again.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to! I went with a large group of 20+ people and the waiters dealt with our rowdiness perfectly by being patient and making recommendations for the large groups. It was very impressive. Additionally, the food was out of this world. I got the Gamberi Fantasia and it was both filling and delicious. I’d recommend it to anyone! We topped our meal with a stellar espresso martini. It capped a perfect night!

My first time here and the food, service, and atmosphere were great. I love Italian food and have been to Italy a few times. This was as close to being there as I’ve ever been. The flavors in the food were so good and delicately combined. I had the rigatoni with cream sauce and the flavors of the shiitake mushrooms, shallots, garlic, were so nicely balanced in the cream sauce it was fantastic. Meatball was also top notch.

I recently dined at this charming Italian restaurant in NYC, and it was an exceptional experience! The food was delicious, authentic, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a cozy meal. What truly stood out, however, was the owner—he was incredibly kind and attentive, ensuring every guest felt welcome and well-cared-for. Highly recommend!

Right in the middle of Little Italy on the festive Mulberry St - offers a classic NYC Little Italy dining experience. Nothing is out of this world (though the eggplant rollatini was pretty good!) and everything is a tad bit too expensive for what you get but there is something about being in one of these Italian American restaurants that's feels nostalgic NY. A tourist trap to some, and a fun NY experience to others. We had a good time.

The food was amazing, we were sat at the prime James Gandolfini table and shared with our waiter how we had been here accidentally almost seven years earlier! The service was phenomenal, it seems like everyone working there is at a party in the best possible way. My party accidentally broke a glass and the manager responded by bringing out an entire bottle of wine and a round of shots free of charge! Manuel was amazing and I really appreciated seeing his attention to detail and his supportive attitude towards the servers, even helping to run food and bus tables as the night progressed. This was our first night of vacation and they made us feel so special, I’d highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in the mood to eat delicious gnocchi and step into a little italian garden for the night.

We've dined at this restaurant before, and once again, the food was delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings. The service was exceptional; the servers, though I didn't catch any names, were incredibly friendly, courteous, and helpful. However, I was disappointed when a server accidentally dropped a glass of cocktail, and the owner began yelling at them. So dear owner it's important to remember that we're all human and make mistakes. Food and restaurant are everywhere but the only reason why we keep coming to your restaurant is because of the hard work and the service provided by your employees.

Some of the best Italian food in NYC! Atmosphere was incredible, staff were fantastic, and most importantly the food knocked it out of the park. We even met the owner, heard some stories about the wall they brought over from Rome and even an Easter egg about the Sopranos!

I've been to many Mulberry St Restaurants, and this is by far the nicest. True Italian (Not pushing the Chicken Parm), that is prepared perfectly. Service great. Compared to the others it's a little pricier, but worth it.

Loved this place. Ambiance was amazing. Food was awesome. Service was quick and staff was really nice. Really really loved the indoor courtyard area. And the pricing was good for what you got considering the area and just the fact it's in Little Italy

Aside from how beautiful and delicious the place and the food is, it’s the service that is beyond remarkable, our waiter (Frank) was genuinely kind and funny he was the highlight of our night. We will be coming back and hopefully we can run into frank again.

We randomly stopped in this restaurant for dinner while we were in NYC for the day. We were drawn to all the Christmas decor and were immediately seated. You feel like you are stepping into a little piece of Italy when you come in. The service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of seating, this place is huge. The meals we got were: Gnocci Pesto, the meat ragu special (only on Sat/Sun), and the Chicken Shrimp Franchise. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and it was very filling. Absolutely loved the atmosphere!!

I recently dined at Il Cortile Restaurant and had an exceptional experience. The beautiful atmosphere inside the atrium is truly enchanting, enhanced by lovely live music that sets a perfect mood. The portions were generous, and every bite was flavorful and delicious. The Veal Parmigiana I had was fantastic, and my partner's Cicale Linguine was equally impressive. The service was excellent, attentive, and friendly. I highly recommend Il Cortile Restaurant for an unforgettable dining experience.

We had our wedding at Il Cortile in October 2024 and everything was PERFECT! The ambiance is gorgeous. Almost 80 guests fit in the garden room which is illuminated with white lights and a glass ceiling. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Audio for the DJ and music was great. Service was professional. Signature cocktails and drinks were refreshing and special. Thank you Manny for all your guidance. Thank you to the pastry chef for an amazingly cake. Most of all, thank you, Mr Salvatore Esposito for taking the time to make every detail perfect. We could not have had a better wedding party. Our family and friends are still raving about the venue, food and service. You made our special day perfect in so many ways.

The outdoor seating here was cozy. Passersby allowed for people watching. Little Italy has some of the best restaurants. Here I enjoyed the cheese ravioli with some red wine. The staff here was friendly and welcoming. Not sure what I could add to this so I will let the pictures talk for me. If you are in the area try this place.

Best Burrata I have ever had. We shared at the table and everything was delicious. Beautiful dining inside. You can eat outside as well if preferred. Highly recommend reservations in advance otherwise you will most likely have to wait. Especially a Friday Saturday night. Delicious 😋

I came here for a work dinner, and WOWZA the decor was on point! Having a meal in a little Italy is always a treat, but especially during Christmas time! I honestly have no complaints whatsoever. The service was great, and the staff was very attentive to our table (we had a group of about 12), and the food was delish. Nona herself would be so proud! I tried a few of the appetizers, but my favorite was the Burrata (unsurprisingly, it was amazing and some of the best I've had). I had built my own pasta dish and ordered the cappellini with vodka sauce and chicken. It was definitely an interesting choice, as capellini is not the go-to for vodka sauce because it does not hold the sauce as well as something like penne, but I experimented and I wasn't disappointed! The drinks, food, and especially atmosphere all hit for me. I want to come back here for a date night!

C

The staff was very accommodating and the service was fast and excellent. Sitting outside under an umbrella kept us comfortable even with a slight Sprinkle. The food was very well prepared and seasoned, especially the lamb special, the chicken parm, and the stuffed mushrooms. This place will be going on the "favorites " list.

We arrived early and walking through Little Italy was a treat! The hostess was polite and genuine. She sat us upstairs and we had the homemade sangria. It was so delicious! Then we were seated in the courtyard. Table with linens and heavy silverware. They brought us bread! A man strolled and played the violin. We ordered an Italian salad. Chicken parmigiana with vodka sauce, the Ragu with spare ribs meatballs, sausage, and special Sugo. Our daughter ordered the seafood pasta with lobster, clams and calamari. Pasta was cooked to perfection and the flavors were outstanding. Our waiter was Angelo. He was very professional. At the end of the night he served us a 20 year old Port wine. They treated us like family. Salute!

Old school Italian food in the heart of Little Italy. Friendly and attentive staff, authentic Italian dishes. My family went traditional with pasta and pizza. I had a Haddock special that was fantastic. My wife’s parents used to take her here as a kid and now we get to bring our kids!

This Italian restaurant in Little Italy is a true masterpiece! The interior exudes charm and elegance, creating a cozy atmosphere that feels like home. The outdoor seating area is also nice, perfect for enjoying a meal under the stars. Exceptional service, delectable cuisine, and a perfect blend of ambiance – an unforgettable dining experience!

I’m a simple man of simple tastes but sometimes you have to go all out. This is probably the best Italian food I’ve had in a long time, and I’ve had all the Italian food all over NJ and NY. The owner was super friendly and super nice, stopping to greet us. The food is spectacular. Delicious and fulfilling. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. (I hear they’re gonna put a speak easy in the back soon). They also have an old school guy take pictures at the table and a guy with an accordion. You don’t get anywhere anywhere! All and all a wonderful experience and a delight. Don’t sleep on the dessert either.

Absolutely brilliant service with every need attended to. Whilst we never felt bothered, we were given great advice on meals by the waiter, and had fast service on both the food and drinks. We ordered the beef carpaccio as the entrée/appetizer which was a special. The lobster ravioli and rigatoni speciale were both melt in your mouth and filling simultaneously! Food overall was very tasty

D

The service was great. Nice but some young woman classic designer needs to remove some of the old school decor. The pasta was nice light but flavorful. The fruits de mar was large and full of seafood. We did the special shrimp app and halibut along with a chicken piccata

We had a wonderful dinner last night at Il Cortile in Paso Robles. The food was truly extraordinary — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The wine was amazing and paired perfectly with the meal. The ambience was warm, inviting, and made the whole evening even better. We had a fantastic experience and would gladly come back again. Highly recommended!

Timeless Little Italy gem—Il Cortile feels like stepping into old-school Italy! Food was excellent: veal parm tender and cheesy with great sauce, homemade fettuccine Bolognese rich and hearty, lobster fra diavolo spicy and fresh, tiramisu light and boozy for dessert. Portions generous. Service was warm and attentive (classic Italian hospitality). Atmosphere is magical—beautiful courtyard with twinkling lights, ivy, and that romantic, enclosed-garden feel—perfect for date night or celebration, though it can get busy/noisy. Special-occasion favorite—worth it every time!

Attended a party here and the entire experience was so special! The food was outstanding, the drinks selection was solid, the service was top notch, and the ambiance was welcoming. We particularly liked the Chicken Francese, the Rigatoni with vodka sauce, and the dessert was out of this world! Highly recommend!

I recently had dinner at Il Cortile on Mulberry Street and it felt like a classic New York Italian experience — rich in tradition, with big portions and warm, attentive service. This family-owned spot has been a neighborhood staple since the mid-1970s, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. The atmosphere is charming and a bit old-world, with a cozy courtyard room and a lively yet relaxed energy that works well for everything from a date night to a celebratory dinner. I enjoyed how the menu balances familiar favorites (like rich pasta and hearty lasagna) with seafood and classic Italian entrées, making it easy to find something satisfying no matter your mood. Dishes like linguine with seafood or creamy penne alla vodka felt generous and comforting, and the wine list brought the whole meal together nicely. Some folks note that prices can be on the higher side around Little Italy, but for what you get — flavorful food in a signature NYC Italian dining setting — it’s easy to feel that it’s worth it. Overall: Il Cortile hits that timeless, welcoming Italian restaurant vibe — rich plates, friendly service, and a classic Big Apple flavor that feels fitting right in the heart of Little Italy.

We had a lovely meal at Il Cortile, tucked away in the heart of Little Italy. The penne with red vodka sauce was rich and flavorful, and the Margherita pizza had a perfect crisp crust with fresh mozzarella and basil. The highlight was sitting in their charming courtyard — a quiet, tucked-away space that made the whole experience feel relaxed and special. A great spot for classic Italian with a peaceful vibe.

This was a nice little Italian restaurant with a great floral garden area in the back inside. Outdoor dining also available. Food was delicious for everyone and the service was friendly. I had the Gambine Fantasia (stuffed shrimp) which had terrific flavour — would definitely recommend that dish

Il Cortino is an absolutely wonderful! The bolognese and the chicken parmesan were both amazing, perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and served piping hot. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, making it a wonderful spot for a night out. The wait staff was extremely friendly and efficient, providing excellent service without ever feeling rushed. Their attentiveness made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!

We absolutely love it here!! We come every single time we're in NYC. The best Italian food you can find. Everything on the menu is fantastic. I had the white linguine and clams and it was delicious! Also, the sangria is some of the best I've ever had. ❤️

This is the perfect place for good Italian food and experience in NYC! We had the Burrata Mozzarella for an appetizer, Caesar salad, ravioli and the gnocchi, plus a pitcher of red sangria. Every bite was delicious! The service was great and the restaurant was decorated for Christmas - it was magical!

Lucky me I live very close to this restaurant, the times I have gone I have loved it, apart from the food, the service is impeccable and everyone is very friendly. If you are close, if you are in New York, you must have to stop here to eat. Btw don’t forget to also have a cocktail on the terrace, are really yummy plus the restaurant is super pretty and has a very nice garden inside. Btw, BIG solid 11/10 to the delicious host <3

Beautiful restaurant with wonderful service! The staff is amazing and the food is to die for. It’s perfect if you want to celebrate. The waiter offered to take our pictures. There is no wait time and make sure to make a reservation. Their chocolate lava cake is delicious. Price and portions are reasonable.

I decided to book here based on numerous reviews on NYC pages I follow on Facebook. This was by far the most recommended restaurant in Little Italy. This restaurant is huge on the inside and was decorated so lovely for the holiday season. Our server, Frank, was definitely the kindest server we have had in a long time, if not ever. The menu options are amazing and he was more than happy to help with recommendations. They were so accommodating and on top of everything. The food, especially the sauces were incredible!

Thanks to a referral from a friend, we found ourselves enjoying a phenomenal dinner. The service was stellar with multiple servers attending to us. Red sangria was a huge hit! Fruity and cold and simply delicious. The special beef carpaccio was razor thin with fresh arugula, bold shaved Parmesan and truffle oil. My favorite was the lobster ravioli. Homemade ravioli packed with lobster and a sauce that I couldn’t get enough of. Definitely get a side of sausage and sauce! Il Cortile is probably as good or better than eating in Italy……I’ve done both and would recommend this place to anyone.

My friend and I visited this place to celebrate her birthday, as we both love Italian food. We were impressed by the excellent service and delicious food, and we especially appreciated how the staff sang a birthday song for my friend. Francisco V., our server, was amazing. He answered all our questions, provided great recommendations, and made our experience more enjoyable. I’ll be recommending this place to others!

We had lunch at Il Cortile and we loved every aspect of it. We arrived on time and our table was ready outside, as we described in the reservation. Service was impeccable. Food was the best Italian we’ve ever had in NYC. Everything tasted deliciously fresh. We finished up with their homemade Tiramisu and we don’t regret. Amazing place with great food, service and affordable. A perk in Little Italy.

Came here on multiple trips to New York City and both experiences were very similar. The first time I came without a reservation and luckily they had a corner table ready within 10 minutes. The next time I made reservations a week in advance. Service is impeccable as servers are always very prompt, courteous, and helpful. There's also never a rush on the meal. Each course is graciously spaced out and they let you enjoy your meal. Even after the meal, you can enjoy the dessert or after-dinner drinks without a rush to close out your tab. They let you simply enjoy the overall experience. Food is outstanding and has many different pastas served with different sauces, so there's something for everyone. For appetizers, I've ordered the Mussels, Baked Clams, and Eggplant Rollatini. For the meals, ordered the Rigatoni Special, Ragu Del Macellaio, Linguine Cicale, Capellini Piselli, and Rigatoni Napoli. I personally preferred the Rigatoni Special, but tasting every dish I'd say it's all personal preference. Overall, great experience. This place is on my go to places every time I come to NYC.

Looking for an old school Italian restaurant with great service? This place delivered. A few notes: 1) The service was amazing. I don’t think my water cup ever hit half empty. 2) The drinks were solid. Try the coconut martini. 3) Food was excellent. Wife had the lobster ravioli.

Family went on a trip to NYC a few weeks ago (first time for kids in NYC) and I did a lot of scouting to find a good place in Little Italy to bring them for dinner. Glad I decided on Il Cortile. First impression, the restaurant was very nice inside sitting in the atrium/garden area. Great lighting, not noisy. Second, the service was 2nd to none. Attentive at the right times. Accommodating - offered more "kid friendly" items not on the menu, but hey what is more kid friendly than Italian? 3rd, food was great. The fried cheese, clams in white sauce, veal, and the dessert was amazing (super cheesecake). Would recommend!

We did a welcome dinner for our 40+ out of town guests at Il Cortile. Manuel, the manager and Angelo, the maitre de, went out of their way, to make sure that each and every one of our guests was well looked after, the wine was great and the food - this is where they truly excelled!! From the family style appetizers, to the individualized pastas and main courses to the variety of desserts - top notch quality and way too much of it!! Thank you Il Cortile. And congratulations on your 50th anniversary!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏🙏🙏

Came here for lunch on Christmas day and the experience was incredible. The place looked so cozy and the food was very good. Servers were a bit clumsy sometimes with their movements but tried to compensate it with positive attitude. Dishes sizes varied. Some were large (penne, spaghetti) some were quite tiny (ravioli or gnocchi). All in all a great place

Spending Christmas at Il Cortile, in the heart of Little Italy, was a magical experience. From the entrance you are enveloped by a unique Christmas atmosphere, cared for in every detail, capable of making you feel inside a fairy tale between tradition, warmth and authentic holiday spirit. The food was simply delicious, full of authentic flavors and prepared with great attention to quality. Each dish tells of the real Italian cuisine, the one that warms the heart as well as the palate. The impeccable staff, professional and always smiling, contributed to making the evening perfect. A special thanks goes to Tommy, the owner: a true gentleman, present, welcoming and passionate, capable of transmitting love for his restaurant and for every guest. The Courtyard is not just a restaurant, but an experience to live, especially during the Christmas period. Absolutely recommended ✨🇮🇹

We absolutely love this place. So much that we had our wedding reception here. Manny and team made our special day wonderful and a year and half later our guests still talk about the food and the service. So much that it has become a tour spot for their friends and family visiting NYC. More recently, we went there for dinner on Christmas Eve - the place was done up beautifully affording many photo ops and the food and atmosphere were top notch as usual. What I appreciate the most about this place is the consistency - we've been here over 5 times in the past 18 months and it's always great. Highly recommend their courtyard/patio seating. Our favorites are their spaghetti al pesto, frutti di mari salad and espresso martini, but anything you eat here will be delicious.

An absolute gem in Little Italy! This family-owned Italian restaurant was nothing short of divine. Every detail, from the warm, attentive service to the thoughtfully curated menu and inviting atmosphere, was impeccable. You can truly feel the love and pride behind every dish, and the flavors were rich, authentic, and unforgettable. The attention to detail made the entire experience feel special, not rushed, and incredibly welcoming. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why family-run restaurants are so magical. Delicious food, exceptional service, and a perfect ambiance, 10/10 would recommend and can’t wait to return! 🇮🇹✨🍝

In our visit to little Italy this restaurant was everything we could’ve wanted and more our server was extremely knowledgeable friendly and accommodating, he even recommended a special that was not in the menu to accommodate our dietary needs, this restaurant truly has it all, amazing service, quality, and vibe. To make things even better, the food was the best Italian I have ever had. Truly an unforgettable experience, will definitely visit again when back in NYC! Thank you so much!!!

Food was nothing short of incredible. Even for a bulky price, you get a true Italian meal, and the service is incredible. My water never got to empty. The atmosphere is very pleasant, especially in the atrium.

First time dining at the indoor garden. As you walk in, the statues & decor offer you a glimpse of Roman splendor. 🥇🥇 The moonlight cascading down from the skylight is breathtaking. We asked for recommendations from Manny the head chef. Our meal was exquisite and the service was exceptional. Had the pleasure of meeting Tommy the proprietor and enjoying a glass of wine recommended by him. The Primitivo Riserva was so good I decided on a bottle for myself. Napa valley Caymus quality for 1/2 of the price. 👍👍 IL Cortile is the “Creme de la creme” of Mulberry st. Jan 2024: Returned with my Dad cause the dining experience was unforgettable on my previous visit. We both had an incredible meal & was again WOWED by the beauty of the venue 🏆 Sep 2024: Magnificent wine & steak 😊😊 2025 Update: Another wonderful lunch with 2 chefs ( my dad & uncle). 2 great Maitre D (Luis & Zora)

TLDR: Welcoming, airy garden room, simple classics done right. Get the meatball and penne vodka, add a Spritz, and you are set. Review Stopped at Il Cortile on a semi-rainy walk from Chinatown. Little Italy spots can blur together and some push hard outside. This one felt calm and inviting. Inside is cozy. The garden room in back is the win: high ceilings, warm lights, lively but comfortable. Service was on point. Friendly team, clear recommendations, steady pacing. Warm bread with olive oil and balsamic arrived fast. The meatball was tender with a bright tomato sauce. The penne alla vodka was al dente and balanced. Drinks were a Mojito and an Aperol Spritz, both fresh. Classic Little Italy feel without the tourist push. Good flavor, good people, and a room you want to sit in. I would return and bring visitors. Pro tips • Ask for the garden room. • Reserve for peak times. • Simple items shine: bread, meatball, penne vodka. • Or

Delicious! The ricotta/spinach stuffed gnocchi was the best. The penne alla vodka with sausage was delicious as well as the ravioli. The cheesecake was also great, very rich! The restaurant is gorgeous inside and our server was 10/10.

Great little place in little Italy, the atmosphere is quaint especially the middle of the restaurant under a skylight. The pasta is perfectly al dente and full of flavor. We got the calamari which was very lightly breaded and the burrata for appetizers with two pastas for the main. The rigatoni Napoli full of red sauce and tomatoes. The rigatoni speciale which has sausage and mushrooms and a delicious white sauce. A must visit in the city.

Food was extremely good, environment was great, service was some of the best. Service is friendly, food comes out fresh with high quality and well priced. They serve very good portions and all of it tastes good. Expect about $35 a person for a solid restaurant. Came here with a group of 5 and they were very accommodating. Definitely recommend penne alla vodka and will be coming back

This place is so cute during the holidays. The food is also good but expect it to be on the pricier side with small portions. Everything was delicious though except for the pesto burrata spaghetti-they missed the mark on this and then overcharged us by mistake. Be aware there’s a $35 cake cutting fee. No regrets though, coming during the holidays was such a fun and memorable experience because they have live carolers and really nice decorations. Call ahead if you have a big party; there’s no booking fee.

Love love love this place. We had been here for our valentines’ day dinner. 5 stars for the food 5 stars for the ambience 5 stars for the aesthetic - the garden greenhouse set up is just beautiful 5 stars for the service 5 stars for the friendly staff I’ve given this place 4 stars overall because we had reserved a table for 8:15pm and we had to chase the people at restaurant to get a table and we got it only at 9:15. So I assume they had overbooked their place for Valentine’s Day. Nevertheless, though the wait was restless, the food, ambience and the rest of the experience that evening made up for it.

Cute restaurant and a bit less touristy than the others around. Quite expensive for simple pasta dishes, tasty but not exceptional. We both had a stomach ache for a few hours after.

Classic Italian restaurant in the Last remains of little italy. Pity that the quarter is getting more and more overrun by little China but that is the dynamics of the city. Look out for the past-time famous actors etc what are honored with signs on the wall … good quality food, quite Americanized Italian dishes of course but good quality experience and at tentative service.

I had a great time at IL Cortile. The penne alla vodka was delicious and my boyfriend was very pleased with his dish as well (don't recall the name). Sangria was delicious! Service was fantastic and the restaurant itself was very cozy. My one and only critique is that the butter was super cold when it was brought out with the bread. My big back couldn't wait for it to thaw so I ripped my bread. 😔

A coworker recommended this restaurant. We were sat quickly and sat in back of the restaurant which has this cool window feeling so you can see outside. I had a salad which was very good. I also are the gnocchi which is made fresh to order. It was very delicious and I highly recommend trimming. We ordered the chocolate lava cake and a peanut butter icecream dessert and they were just okay.

A fine dining experience. The rear, enclosed atrium, appears to have been a small backyard in the past, which has been beautifully modified into its current form. In addition, the restaurant is actually larger than it's original footprint as it has what appears to be two, side by side retail spaces in the front and another third space which looks out the adjacent street. The rear atrium area ties all the spaces together wonderfully. The combination of these spaces creates a dynamic eating experience, as one can select which area to dine in. The pictured, little neck clams were not on the menu, however the manager was kind enough to accommodate us. Unlike other restaurants within Little Italy, coffee here is refillable and I found some unique items in the menu, like a pie made from sausages, artichokes and mozzarella cheese (appetizer section).

Cute Italian restaurant with amazing atmosphere and food tastes delicious and service was excellent! Went here recently to celebrate special moment and really enjoyed the overall experience. Started with a reservation and we still had to wait 30 min for a table. Service was subpar, we had to wait another 15 minutes just to get water's. Our waiter only came over twice the whole meal. The buser did more than our waiter did for the whole meal. We kept having to ask to get refils. Food was good but nothing spectacular. Maybee it was a bad night , but I am not sure I would go back for the price.

Somewhat disappointed in this iconic spot. Maybe they had an off night but this wasn't what I was expecting. I went with my wife and daughter and was able to snag a table outside which was perfect as the weather was top notch. Sadly the bliss ended there. For a top notch spot, I was somewhat disappointed in the tequila selection. I ordered a drink and a beer, beer never came and my wife's drink was wrong. I ordered 2 appetizers, only one came. My wife's meal was incorrect and while the waiter was super nice and apologetic, it just wasn't what I was accustomed to growing up eating here as a kid. In regards to the meal, it was good but wasn't mind-blowing. Maybe I'm spoiled being from NJ as we seem to have awesome food but nothing here really blew me away. Wasn't bad but wasn't great.

Il Cortile in Little Italy, NYC had the potential for a lovely date night, with the magical atmosphere of the neighborhood and a bustling ambiance inside the restaurant. However, despite booking through Yelp, our reservation didn't come through and we had to wait for about 10 minutes, which was handled efficiently. The Manhattans we started with were strong and enjoyable, and the fried mozzarella we shared was essentially deep-fried mozzarella toast. As someone who loves cooking, I found both the chicken parmigiana and spaghetti puttanesca underwhelming in terms of flavor and quality. However, the service was prompt and fantastic, the drinks were stiff, and the restaurant provided great opportunities for people-watching. Given its 4.3-star rating, I expected more from the food.

Experience the average turned exceptional at Il Cortile Restaurant in Little Italy, NYC. As a seasoned traveler who has explored every continent, I seek more than just a meal – I crave an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately, my recent visit to Il Cortile fell short of my expectations. While the servers were attentive, the absence of essential components like vinegar, olive oil, fresh cracked pepper, and salt for the bread appetizers left a void in the authenticity of the dining experience. Moreover, the oversight of not offering fresh Parmesan cheese for the main dish further detracted from the overall charm of the meal. Despite the stunning aesthetics of the restaurant, particularly in the enchanting garden room with its unique glass opening overlooking the cityscape, the lackluster drinks and subpar culinary offerings failed to impress. If you seek an unassuming spot for a decent Italian meal without the need to make a grand impression, Il Cortile may suffice. But for those craving a truly authentic and memorable Italian dining experience, the search for excellence continues.

I recently dined at Il Cortile restaurant and had a mixed experience. The food itself was okay, nothing particularly memorable. Service felt a little rushed, and there was no printed drink menu — instead, staff simply made recommendations. The drinks we ordered were $20 each, which felt overpriced. The biggest surprise came when the bill arrived with an extra meal we hadn’t ordered. While they did apologize and promptly removed it, it left a bad impression. Additionally, gratuity was automatically added (which I understand), but then after my card was processed, they asked for another tip. That’s not a good practice and felt pushy. Overall, between the mediocre food (overpriced), rushed service, and awkward billing/tipping situation, I wouldn’t return.

We had reservations for a party of 8 on Christmas night and after reviewing the menu and reading the reviews I was beyond excited for our visit. Unfortunately, our experience was a disappointment. While the food was very good, the service was a disaster. When our waiter came to take our drink order, we were told that the kitchen was busy, so food might be a little slow. No problem...we were in no rush. My wife asked for a Reisling and when her wine came she whispered to me that it was certainly not what she ordered ( note...she is not a wine snob and typically only drinks Reisling on the rare occasion that she orders wine ...but she knew immediately that her drink was incorrect ). However, before our drinks arrived ( in a slow procession of one or two drinks at a time ) the "busy kitchen " started delivering our appetizers. When we were halfway through the appetizers, the final drinks arrived to all in our party and we were finally able to make a holiday toast! As quickly as the food arrived...it was whisked away ...with food still on the serving plates. Several times we had to ask the bus staff to please put down the plates as we were not done eating. Once our meal was served, there was no check in on us, nor asking if we wanted more drinks. At one point, there was a man behind me, in a suit jacket, so I assumed he was a manager of some sort, and I asked if he could help with more drinks. We we ordered 3 red wines and a Reisling...and I was told they don't carry Resiling ! So I changed my wine order to a beer. Two red wines arrived...the last red wine and my Heineken never arrived....ever ! Finally dessert....we ordered two desserts for the table to split...and while they were very good...the bus staff removed our individual dishes and utensils from all members of our party while there was still dessert on the table. So for the rest of the evening sat the remainder of a chocolate torte that no one could finish as our forks had been whisked away, and at no point were we asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. So while the food at Il Cortile was very good, the service was abysmal. Perhaps it was due to the holiday and the regular staff was not working, or perhaps it was just an "off" night...I'd like to offer the benefit of the doubt...however I would have a hard time recommending Il Cortile to a friend, as my expectations of a wonderful Italian meal in Little Italy were crushed.

This establishment is not professional. My party of 5 came in for our reservation of 7:30, and were told (rudely) we had to wait in the back of the restaurant for half an hour because they were accommodating a party of 100! It was packed and uncomfortable. People with 7:15 reservations were also waiting. We took our business elsewhere.

OK food was very good. That is where it ends. We had a 8:15 reservation. We finally were showed to the bar at 9:15. We seated at 10. Reservation meant nothing at all and they did not care. Will never go back and have told everyone I know not to go there unless it is at 2 pm on a monday for lunch.

Stay away from eating in this restaurant and doing business with these people. I had a dinner party where I had to pay a deposit and they never returned money. They stole 2k from me. I gave them plenty of time to refund the money before writing this review but they just keep ignoring my emails and my calls. They are plenty of other restaurants in little Italy where you could enjoy good food without being robbed. Avoid this place at all cost.

T
Tony Lin

This is definitely the most I’ve overpaid for pasta at a restaurant. I thought this place would be good because of the reviews but sadly I was wrong. I got the shrimp linguine with garlic oil and it was honestly so bland. Even the butter had more flavor then the garlic oil. I can’t justify paying $36 for 5 shrimp cooked in pasta in garlic oil. The Chicken Alfredo was mid, I don’t think anyone can mess that up. The bread basket they bring out is also very sad. Cold hard bread and the butter was just regular butter. I would just save my money and go to the other Italian restaurants in Little Italy.
