Happened to pass by walking into Little Italy and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try some pancakes. The place is a bit divey, but really delicious and inexpensive. Service was great too.
Perfect balance of a diner experience in the heart of New York City. Love their food! Belgian waffles, eggs benedict, Italian omelette, corned beef hash and french toast are some of the things we've had. All amazing! Come here for a great breakfast or brunch and you won't go leaving unsatisfied. To top it up, refills of hot, piping coffee on the go for ya.
A great diner with traditional spirit. Meals are cheap, fast, and delicious (breakfast is priced VERY reasonably). Regulars get their home treatment, newbies are treated with a bit of an attitude, but it just provides for an authentic American diner experience. A local gem of a restaurant indeed.
Place was very welcoming, great service, and prices were decent for the amount of food you receive. The food was normal breakfast food that you can find in a diner, you can see right into the kitchen and the food comes out relatively quickly. Overall it looks a little run down and small, but I think that's part of the charm of the place XD
I am a bit biased because I've been going to this place for years. They are very friendly here and the food is solid. It's a cramped out place and it's old and rundown, but still feels very cozy and the food is good!
We walked around looking for breakfast food and came across this place. It's a tiny place but the service was incredible. And the food was so delicious and fresh. They made the food super quick too.
Old school. Affordable. Delicious. Their breakfast is one of my favorites in NYC when I'm missing the diners of NJ. It's not fine cooking, but for the price it's damn good. Service is extremely efficient, and they'll watch your coffee cup to make sure you don't run dry.
Awesome place for NY sandwich/deli classics. I had a turkey sausage, egg and cheese on a roll. Came out fresh in 2 minutes and was delicious. Woman who waited on me was delightful and entertaining. Highly recommend.
We are here from England and wanted a good american breakfast. We went here for after i had done some searching of places online and couldn't recommend it more. Yes it's a little old diner but the waitress was so friendly, the service quick and the pancakes absolutely delicious. The bonus to this place is it's cheap too. If you are in the neighbourhood, definitely check it out, you won't be disappointed. I am sure we will be going back before the end of our trip.
been coming here for years. it’s always good, and everyone’s food smells great. right now i smell some french toast and it looks amazing but it’s 2:19 pm and that’s lunchtime. the service is fast as hell and she is focused
We, a family of three, spent a week in NY in August 2023 and were lucky to choose this place as our regular breakfast shop right from the start. We never moved elsewhere as it simply does not get any better and more authentic than this. The staff is professional, quick and very friendly. Hard shell with a very soft core. After three days we were greeted like locals and got our known choice of beverages directly after entering without having to order. The food is delicious, nothing for people on a diet, and gave us strength to explore the city. This diner looks like being straight from a Scorsese movie. If you like posh places with ironed tablecloth do not go there. If you want to eat in an authentic diner mostly frequented by local people this is the place to go.
This is our go-to place for a great breakfast. We’ve been there every morning and the food is always hot and fresh. The folks who run the diner are great!!
Cozy with very straightforward service and zero frills, but everything's delicious and well worth it (and not too expensive for a modern diner). There are two waitresses that seem to show up but it's only one at a time so be kind to them! Once they get your order, it'll be there before you know it - you didn't know restaurants still served food this fast. Don't come with excessively large groups unless it's an off hour - you'll be pushing your luck for seating with more than 6 people. Always tip well!
Very good food. We went for breakfast and had nothing but a great experience. Highly recommend.
I liked the pancakes, eggs and potatoes! The server was really nice too. You’d be hard pressed to find a better value for a sit-down breakfast in the city!
Service is excellent you get your food within minutes, authentic diner experience, don’t expect luxury. I loved it as it was fast and convenient and food was good too.
Quick service and great food. One of those small places you can hit up and be satisfied every time. Highly recommend
This place is a great diner! I got the two eggs on a roll with bacon and cheese for less than $6, which was refreshing price-wise. The waitress was so nice and she was fast with our order. 11/10
Mom and pops joint. The Lady that was our server emits mother vibes ☺️ she was cheerful she joked with us a little while she dashed passed us to sit and serve other customers. The food was delicious and the cook was quick with it as the orders came in the orders came out. Quick! It was Very welcoming and I’ll definitely be back!
I’ve been coming here since I was a kid growing up in Chinatown. Local spot with great service from the Chinese Aunty. The Coffee is good for diner quality. I’m sure everything is good on the menu but I always get the same. Two Eggs sunny Side with sausage and fries. It’s slower then usual. I hope they survive through this pandemic
If you’re looking for an original “New York style” breakfast diner, look no further. Randomly stopped by for brunch and was taken aback by how charming and old school it was. There was one server, she was amazing. Very cheerful and quick as can be! The food came out quick and was just what I needed to continue walking in the cold winter city! If you’re in the area, don’t miss this place for a quick midday lunch/breakfast.
This no frills old school diner transports you back in time to a 90’s era Seinfeld episode. In some ways it’s a classic diner, in others it’s beautiful and unique. The food is all good, but the real charm lies in the simple details and the welcoming nature of the place. I ordered the bacon and pancakes, and the cheeseburger deluxe. While the burger was good, the breakfast was special.
This place is like I went back in time to the 70s/80s. It’s small, but cute and charming. The food was very good and very affordable. The waitress was nice and very personable. I had the pancake lumberjack meal. It was a huge portion and oh so satisfying. I definitely recommend this old New York style diner.
I love the food and the waitress...she's been there for years!
So I finished my overnight shift and got a call for extras downtown. I rushed down to Chinatown to wait for a callback or confirmation. I was wandering semi-aimlessly, wishing for a Westerm omelet. I told myself I would wander into a random Chinese restaurant and order one, to the chagrin of whomsoever may be in there. But as I wandered, I looked up and saw the Landmark Coffee Shop. I thought, "No way!". But yes, yes, way. The western omelet was delicious, and the service was extra exceptional. It's a small, real New York City diner, narrow as a bus, but twice as long. The windows give you a view of the busy street and the classic French architecture of two buildings across each street. It's what you imagine Bogart might have stopped in for a rainy late night coffee. Please give this lovely place your business. We have so few diners left in New York. This one needs to survive and thrive!
This place is a classic neighborhood corner diner! The atmosphere is great, the lady at the register is a big personality and makes you feel like a local as soon as you step inside. The service was exceptional and the food came quickly. I heard the chef has been working here for over 40 years and it shows! Everything was excellent and I will definitely be back!
Exactly what you want out of a New York breakfast spot! Good pricing, great no nonsense food. A true gem
The food was great and the service was perfect. It was a perfect spot for me to enjoy my breakfast after wandering around the city in the early winter morning.
it's just a basic diner, but it's always fast, food is good and I don't have anything to complain about, prices for Manhattan are also hard to beat!
Truly a slice of old NYC. Old-style eggs and burger menu. They also do have salads various parmigiana. Highly energetic Asian waitress. You will pay less if you pay in cash. This this place isn't going to win a Michelin star, but you will get a good meal cheap. Support these Mom and Pop independent businesses or they will be supplanted by soulless corporate mediocrity.
It’s a classic diner experience. I remember it fondly from my last trip and it’s still just as good. I had pancakes and sausage this time because it was one of my favorites from before. Unfortunately, I got too excited and ate them before I took a picture. This is a great place to fuel up before exploring a lot of cool neighborhoods. Also, the bathroom here is a real New York kind of place.
The place is really good, the waitress was so kind, efficient and helpful. The food was delicious and the prices are fair for being Manhattan. It’s a convenient location for those staying at the hotel across the street. Thanks for saving our lives during new year’s eve! 100% Recommended.
Best old school diner in lower Manhattan! Looking for a place with solid food at reasonable prices in this part of town is tough. Landmark offer a service you might find at a roadside diner on a dusty highway. Amazing omelettes and pancakes with crispy bacon. The portions are perfect and the prices are even better. The bottomless filter coffee is served at your table. Service is fast and efficient and the place is very clean. More details on our Sling Adventures website
Great little diner with huge menu. Husband loved his corned beef hash and my grilled cheese was simple and tasty. Haven't seen crinkle cut fries for years!
Wanted to go to the brunch places around the area, but the waits were ridiculous. So my friends and I decided to go to this little old fashion diner. The service was quick and the food was solid! You can't go wrong with their omelettes and pancakes. Portions were perfect!
Giving 4 stars because the waitress is amazing. She has a very friendly personality, was quick to wait on and serve us with a cheerful attitude. This is a classic greasy spoon with a huge menu.
A good place with good ambience to hang out. The coffee is good enough but not great. The service is great.
No frills classic diner experience with good enough food. Service is eclectic and a bit hectic with being shuffled around to squeeze people in but it’s all part of the charm. Pricing is line with what you’d expect for the area
Everything good, the food was delicious! The waitress was also really nice and at our service. Familial ! Only things disappointing it was a bit dirty
I had some decent breakfast here and the staff is really kind, especially the server lady. So if you’re looking for breakfast, this is definitely more than ideal. Hope to be back!
Perfectly decent diner food. Very attentive staff. But be wary: staff adds a 20-25% tip to the check, but will remove it if requested so you can add your own tip. The restroom is straight out of a horror movie. Not perfect, very authentic; I eat here every time I’m in the city.
One of the best options in the region for a good breakfast or brunch. Locals are regular customers here, which is a good sign. The menu is not so cheap, but the food is well served. I loved the gyro, I recommend it. Pancakes with bacon were good as well. Bad point is the charge when you pay by card.
Landmark Coffee Shop is not just a coffee shop, it’s an awesome place to eat at reasonable prices, there is so much choice, it only a small space inside but the service is quick with a lovely lady who takes your order and makes your wait is not too long. The food is prepared right in front, the food is freshly cooked, the portions size is generous and it’s tasty, nothing is burnt, and did I say the price is very reasonable
I had the pastrami on rye and it was smaller than I expected for the price. I expected a large portion like a traditional diner style. The price also was more than it was listed on the menu so choosing a diner over a pretty restaurant to keep costs down wasn’t the best idea. It was tasty and came with fries but it’s not a place to relax and enjoy the ambience. It’s in an out, very quick and expect to pay more than it says.
Landmark is pretty much mediocre. The service is pretty much one Asian lady running around the place trying to seat people, take orders, and put out food. The decor is drab, clean enough but nothing too great. Food was ok. We just stopped in for some quick French Fries and coffee. The French Fries were pretty good, but had no salt. The coffee was a little weak and watery.
Get a taste of NYC 50 years ago! Grungy and tiny, this corner diner smells and tastes of old timey food. Pork roll, pastrami and corned beef and tolerable coffee instantly transport you to the days of yesteryear. Service was instantaneous and atmosphere reminds you of a set in a multiethnic Scorsese movie.
Food can be more up to par. They dont serve grits and cheese eggs never really seasoned well I like mine with a taste of salt. Pancakes taste like your eating flour to thick to be so thin. Hot chocolate watered down. But overall nice service always paying attention.
My friend from Germany wanted to have a New York diner experience. He found this place and I met him there. the food was fine I suppose you would say unremarkable but fine. the service was fairly typically Brusque but efficient. They have no wifi and most of the electrical outlets are broken. To get electrical power while we did our work we had to sit near the door and Fries every time a new guest came in.
Food is freshly prepared. Service is good, the cook is very nice, but one of the ladies working there tends to over charge if you don't pay attention. Place needs mayor update. Every time I go, there are always tourists, place needs to look better. Prices are OK. For me, the 3 stars are for how the place looks and prices.
Very friendly staff, opens early, takes credit cards and cheap but but but their food taste like meh. I had chicken noodle soup and it was pretty bad. Scrambled eggs had no seasoning whatsoever. The home fries was pretty decent. I really wish I could give them 5 stars cause they so nice but honestly I wouldn't go back there to eat.
Reasonable breakfast specials are available before 11:00 AM, accompanied by a complimentary choice of coffee or tea with refills. Please be advised that substituting or upgrading the coffee or tea to an alternative item will result in an additional charge. I had requested orange juice, which was priced at $7. I recommend reviewing your bill carefully, as ours was erroneously charged an additional dollar due to the waitress’s recollection of the price as being “higher.” Credit card payments will incur a 4% surcharge. Additionally, we were requested to provide additional tips after being informed that our payment was deemed insufficient.
The service lady was friendly but screwed us on the bill by scribbling unreadable numbers on it. When asked about the bill she was seemingly annoyed and mumbled something about New York taxes. She overcharged me around 10 dollars. Coffee was OK if you like american coffee. Grade would possibly be one more star if the lady didn't trick us.
I started going there for the past month and a 1/2 Is the waitress were nice the food was very good but the old man behind the couple was a miserable piece of dirt. I was spending $25 to 50 per day until the old man became disrespectful. Now I will never step foot inside and alos the prices changes all the time. I caught the old man changing the prices and this is the real reason I will never step foot inside.
A run down diner, but perfect for a tourist that want's a genuine (and quite lousy) American breakfast experience. The coffee is also "American", if you what I mean... As expected, but the nice lady also successfully overchargeed us on the bill, so I am deducting a star for that.
Food was decent, service not-so-much. 2 out of 3 in our party got a different meal than ordered. And then they added their own tip (around 20 %) to the check, without us having any say in the matter.
We went a couple of times to this place most things were okay the first time except that my pita bread was burnt, but the service of the lady was good (she was sweet). After two more times that we visited this place there was another lady who was serving. At the end of our visit she ended up charging us 10$ dollars extra than the actual total. She ended up saying that it was the city tax that was 10% which did not make any sense for a an order under 50$, on top of that we had to tip for the rude attitude she had when I asked her in a very polite way. Just because you are a tourist I don’t think it is right for this woman to snatch money from you this way when other restaurants give you a clear check when it comes to paying.
Been wanting to try this spot for a while. Huge disappointment. Food - chocolate pancakes were barely edible. I recommend they try to use a pancake mix for better results. Philly cheesesteak was on stale hero, with two dried up slices of beef. Cleanliness - I give them a D minus-minus. Not sure how they paid off the Dept of Health for their A rating. Dirty cups. The bathroom looked like a scene from Hellraiser. Service - I give them a solid B+, the waitress was the best part of the experience.
The absolute worst diner to eat at! Customer service was so bad. We bought two set breakfast’s for $10 and was charged $49 for not eating our French toast ( because it didn’t taste great)!! But yet we are paying customers. Never again. I would advise not to eat here.
A really Bad experience, Where do I start? The food was terrible and really small portions for the quantity that they charge. The waitress was really Racist and rude. She got my order wrong and when I told her she got mad, then she proceeded to sit 2 strangers on my table with out asking first. If you are in lower Manhattan. Please avoid this place at all cost you are going to have a Horrible experience and bad food.
The worst experience I have ever had. First let me say if you are from out of town don't go ,The lady throw down our menus ,she had an attitude and I don't know why their was a gentleman ordering him something to drink I think she was rude to him as well . If I ever vist New York again ,that would not be stop .
DO NOT GO HERE! The hostess/waitress is EXTREMELY RUDE! While I was there, I noticed that not one party received their order correctly, including me. And when I told her that my order was wrong she completely dismissed it. One couple, who sat down before me, still had not even received their food by the time I was walking out. It wasn’t even like the place was busy. 30+ minutes for some eggs, toast and hashbrowns? Get out of here. Not to mention, the food was completely tasteless. Plenty of other diners within walking distance that even if the food isn’t a whole lot better, at least the service is a lot more comfortable. Place doesnt even deserve 1 star.
Charged me $8 for a small coffee, insane scammers be cautious!
Waitress was rude, tell you to make your own egg cream, and gave us her own prices not what was on the menu. They also dont tell you theres a big charge if you use your card. Almost $90 for some eggs, omelet and a salad! Scam place
The coffee was worse than instant coffee and tasted moldy. Pancakes were actually excellent but the rest of the food was mid. We got eggs and potatoes. The the waitress rung up an extra $15 over what the items cost. Complete scam.
We were sat and promptly ignored. After a few minutes we even went to the counter to ask if we order there and the waitress said she was coming so we apologized and waited. After more waiting we noticed other tables come in and get coffee and still no drinks for us. We left and no one even looked our way, don't waste your time. I would give zero stars if I could.
BEWARE SCAM: My subtotal was $31 and with tax and"service charge" it came out to$42. This woman adds a "service charge" to the bill without asking if we want to add a tip. She is essentially tipping herself. The service was terrible. I asked her for Sugar Twin twice and was told to use the regular sugar on the table. I asked for egg whites and she rolled her eyes and walked away.... Then served me a regular egg omelette. The woman is gruff and unfriendly. The French toast is an unnatural bright yellow . My daughter asked for strawberries on the toast but was given slabs of bright red jelly on the side.
The food was okay, nothing special but also not that bad (wouldn't recommend the Roastbeef though, it was way too thick). Worst thing: they automatically add 30% service charge. The lady was friendly, but we paid about 50 $ for two people and the food was definitly not worth the money. Wouldn't recommend. Also, the restaurant looked very used up, mist of the chairs repaired with duct tape...
Food was overpriced for what you get. I added a side of ham to my waffle and it was the cheapest lunch meat ham. The waitress has my kids add lots of extras to their plates.
They force you to tip for satisfactory service, in my experience it was less than acceptable. If you do not tip, the Chinese waitress will publicly call you out on no tip. And after she thinks you left she starts chatting up to everyone about how you didn’t tip. If that’s the experience you want when walking in for a meal. Here is the place for you. If you want a quiet comfortable experience. I suggest you find a more appropriate place.the waitress was also prejudice and extremely rude.
i was also ripped off and overcharged here. My bill should have been less than $10 but the waitress rang up $26. I was tired and not thinking so i actually tipped her $4 too ! It was only after I left that i was thinking it was a lot and i should've properly checked the menu. I'd say this South American waitress is making a lot of money with this scam. She probably owns the place or else she'd have been fired by now.
Never again. They are like a robbery place. Tax is in this shop is 20 $ without receipt just on a dirty paper.
Good food, deceptive billing (total was 40$ we were charged 57$). Avoid, especially if you are a tourist.
They scam your bill, our bill was $51 than they add “taxes” and they asked for $66… when asked they said is the “coffee and taxes” even though there was coffee at the bill… don’t go there if you’re tourist!!
Illegal and deceptive billing practices This place uses handwritten, unclear bills and does not provide receipts, which makes it impossible to verify charges. Based on the menu, our order should have been around $35. We were charged over $60 with no transparent explanation of prices, taxes, card fees, or service charges. Despite paying by card, no itemized receipt was provided, which is not acceptable and not compliant with basic consumer protection standards in New York. After reading other reviews, it is clear this is a recurring issue, especially affecting tourists. Avoid if you expect legal, fair and transparent pricing.
Be really careful as the prices rise dramatically after 11. Breakfast special (scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns) was $17.88
I am from Chicago and visited NY. Just had a breakfast this morning (the No. 3 on the menu, 3 pancakes and 3 sausages). The menu on the wall says $9.95 but my credit card was charged $17.88. I asked for receipt and stuff, and they said I was paying for "machine fee". I am a Japanese and was carrying a luggage and it might made me look like a tourist who doesn't know that paying for machine or equipment is NOT normal (been living in the state for 11 yrs). I understand the tipping culture here and I tip. They might assumed I wouldn't. I confronted them and gave me a dollar back, though. It looks like a small family business and I would love to support it but NOT coming back for sure.
