If you go to NYC and do not eat in an Italian restaurant, then you do not visit the city properly. Paesano is a great option for the experience. If the inside is full you can wait for ten minutes to get a table. The staff is high level and the service is fast. Have the pasta dishes and be happy. House wine is good, I recommend red instead of white. Great food and great experience !
This place was recommended to me by a friend who lived in NY. It sure didn't disappoint! My wife and I went around 6:30 pm on a Sunday. It was definitely busy but we were seated right away. I will say not all seating is the most private if that's a major concern. Other than that, it's a romantic dinner spot or good for families. The food is simply amazing. Both our dishes were bursting with flavor and we're piping hot. I would recommend my eggplant parmesan to anyone. The deserts were phenomenal as well. They do have a good selection of wine. Service was friendly and multiple servers bussed our tables to provide better service.
I wish that I could give this restaurant 6 stars because it was that good. The food was hot and delicious, exactly what I expected and wanted. The decor was charming and the plants were all real which I feel really heightens the overall vibe. Between ordering and getting the food it felt like it was only 10 minutes and the staff were quick to bring the menu, some bread, water, and delicious olive oil. Everything was perfect!
Great prices, great food, and great service! They give you free bread and a garlic dip that is good. We ordered the pasta carbonara and it’s was good! Very creamy, and portion size was filling. We were very impressed with how fast the food came out as well, it was less than 5 minutes after we ordered, and on a Sunday night! Alder (sp?) was our waiter and he was awesome!!
Some of the best italian I've had in a while and you MUST get the carbonara! We decided to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. They first provide bread when you sit down with herb oil. I was not expecting the subtle spiceyness from the oil. But it was more than welcomed, excellent. You would be missing out big time if you did not get their Spaghetti Carbonara with grilled chicken. Make sure you get their fresh grated cheese on top too! It is genuinely unbelievable. It is hard to find a place that does it right, but they absolutely smashed it out the park. (oh and their espresso martinis are incredible too!) Super friendly staff, great portions and delicious food, will definitely be back.
This place is a true hidden gem. The food is great and affordable (by NYC standards). The staff are friendly and generous. And the interior decor is just so pretty, homely and warm. Looks great in photos too. (Definitely a place to get luxurious pics on a budget lol). Can be a bit crowded and the tables are close together but I can't complain, it's already so good for it's price in New York.
We sat inside after a long day of walking outside in NYC, and the inside is absolutely beautiful! Atmosphere is out of this world, so warm and welcome and cozy without being too dark. Food was fantastic, I took a recommendation from our server (the lasagne traditional) and enjoyed it thoroughly. I left my purse by accident, which we realized a few minutes after leaving the restaurant! After we came back, we found that they’d stowed it safely behind the bar for us. Such an excellent place with such amazing service, and the next time I’m in NYC, I’ll be sure to come here!!
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Paesanos on Mulberry Street in little Italy NYC. It’s hard to choose as there are so many authentic Italian restaurants in NYC but this place did not disappoint! The ambiance is wonderful with lights, wine bottles. and grapevines adorning the ceiling (check it out on tic tock lol). . I ordered the manicotti and my husband ordered pasta puttanesca with sausage. Both were delicious. Our wine and prosecco were only 12-13 dollars a glass which is half the price of most beverages in nyc. The overall price for our meal was very reasonable for NYC standards and the service was superb. Highly recommend.
Such a nice find, coming from Toronto I was nervous we would find more american-italian restaurants as opposed to more authentic Italian ones. The interior was beautiful with paintings. Old pictures, twinkling lights and hanging wine bottles. The servers were working like crazy during the san gennaro festival, they didn't stop for a moment. They kept refilling out water and checking in. We had the gnocci bolognese, rigatoni alla vodka and lasagna Primavera. All fantastic. Drinks were good. We liked the house salad but the dressing was a little tartish. Not a homemade dressing. But I loved this place!
Been coming here for years. I brought family and friends and they loved it. My favorite dish is something I created and they always get it right ! Chicken parmigiana with fettuccine Alfredo sauce on my noodles 💪🏾
We spent two weeks in New York, the first week we randomly chose this nice Italian restaurant as our dinner spot. We were completely satisfied with the place and service. Towards the end of the second week, we went to an Italian restaurant again and sat down at the same place completely by accident. Everything was perfect, thank you very much! Niki and Gabi from Budapest.
Second time here. This restaurant had a really warm and cozy atmosphere. Our waiter was really friendly with a few jokes even. Place was clean. Prices were really good for the portion size. Got to take home leftovers. Food tasted great! The feel of the restaurant and taste of the food felt authentic.
Have been taking all my people here since 2023(?). Never a disappointment. Pasta is great every time and so is their wine collection. Its cozy, cute, perfect for any occasion. Even to go alone and have a meal by yourself. I love seeing the same guys who serve me, and their kindness never changes. Thank you always
**Delizioso Italian Dining Experience** The highlight of the menu was undoubtedly the fresh pasta, crafted with skill and passion. Each bite was a revelation, perfectly al dente and bursting with authentic Italian flavors. The menu showcases a variety of dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients that reflect the chef's commitment to quality. Our favorites were the calamari, rigatoni a la vodka, penne a la vodka, sole francaise, and chicken francaise. We were there for lunch and the lunch menu prices are very reasonable. Service was impeccable throughout our visit. Attentive and knowledgeable, our server Aldo guided us through the menu with recommendations that perfectly complemented our preferences. He added a warm, personal touch to our dining experience. He took exceptional care of our party of 10. Grazie Aldo! Prepare to indulge in exceptional food, enjoy a pleasant atmosphere, and be treated to outstanding service. Buon appetito!
First time in Little Italy! My sister told me about this spot because she paid less than $20 for her meal so we decided to check it out. I tried the chicken Parmesan which had really good flavor - 8.5/10! The chicken was seasoned and had a nice crust. This was actually $24 but it was a delicious meal and the service is pretty quick. You get your meal in less than 10 minutes. The sauce for the Fettuccini Alfredo was also delicious. It’s good food and good service. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty crowded in the restaurant but we were seated quickly even without a reservation. I would definitely go back!
Since 1911, in the heart of Little Italy on a busy block of Mulberry Street, this establishment is the original red sauce Italian restaurant, where some of us were first-timers and my repeat performance in 10 years for dinner yesterday. Reservations were easily made via Yelp. Upon entering Paesano, translated from Italian for fellow countrymen, my partner, visitors from out of town and I were greeted by the host, who immediately transported us to a table in an authentic Sicilian village with rustic wooden beams. The space was extremely tight, with tables very close to each other, so be expected to bump elbows with those around you when seated. The menu offers a long list of your favorite Italian specialties, including a wide variety of seafood, chicken, veal, and assorted pastas. As an appetizer, we decided to share the mozzarella in Carroza. For the main meal, we opted for Lasagna Primavera, Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimps, Gnocchi Pesto, and Calamari Luciana made fresh daily with sautéed in butter, virgin olive, white wine, shallots, garlic, and parsley. Served over linguine. Complimentary bread with olive oil started our meal. Every dish we tasted was bursting with flavor and served in a big portion. The best Italian meals are simple, with a long tradition of using the finest and freshest ingredients. Prices were very wallet-friendly. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the staff were great, especially our server, Alberto. Everything about Paesano’s hits the mark, so we can recommend this place.
We are from Orlando, FL. My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. The food quality and service has always been great. My wife's favorite is the lasagna primavera and for me, rigatoni a la vodka with chicken. Thanks guys. We'll see you next time we're back in New York!
Prepare to be enchanted by the sheer adorableness and charm of this delightful Italian restaurant! From the moment you step inside, you'll be captivated by its cozy and inviting atmosphere. As for the food, it's truly delicious, satisfying even the most discerning taste buds. The portions are wonderfully generous, ensuring you'll leave with a satisfied appetite. The service provided by the attentive staff is truly exceptional, going above and beyond to make your dining experience memorable. And the best part? The prices are incredibly reasonable, allowing you to indulge in a fantastic meal without breaking the bank. In summary, this Italian restaurant is a hidden gem that checks all the boxes: charm, delectable food, generous portions, outstanding service, and unbeatable prices. It's an experience you won't want to miss!
Wonderful spot in Little Italy. Went on a very rainy Friday night around 8:30, and surprisingly, it was super packed while nearby restaurants were empty. That speaks volumes! Food was excellent and though it took some time for our order to be taken (understandable, since it was busy), the servers were friendly! The decor was a nice touch too. Would recommend & return.
The best restaurant in Little Italy. Definitely try the rigatoni vodka or the pasta trio from their secret menu. Junior was a very attentive waiter, ask for him!
Delicious, cozy spot right in the middle of the action in Little Italy. We were lucky and were seated immediately, but reservations are nearly required especially on weekend evenings. The wait staff and managerial staff were great, and everyone at my table was very happy with their food. The chicken parmigiana was great- the cutlet was so flavorful.
This place is just phenomenal!! Food is unbelievably good, authentic Italian and is just perfect!! We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, Osso Buco and the seafood Cartoccio (this one is out of this world). Staff are super nice especially when you call to reserve, very flexible and accommodating! Definitely a must and will go again 😊
Best Italian food Ive had. Service was amazing. Atmosphere was great. We will come back here every time.
This cozy spot captures the heart of Italy with its great food. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making itan ideal escape from the pace of the city. Impecable service and decadent tramisu.
I’ve been coming here for years and it has always been top tier service , I love it here and will continue to bring my friends ! Don’t even get me started about the food if you want the Italian experience paesanos is the place to go . Also ask for Alberto as your server he is the best and took care of us !
Visited this place during the holidays and enjoyed the pasta trio they offered. Everything was delicious! We were very pleased with our waiter Gianni and his recommendations. I will definitely be returning again. The best restaurant on Mulberry Street!
Hands down the best restaurant in New York City. Amazing food, speedy service, GREAT prices and super friendly staff (especially Aldo and Cory!). It quickly became my favorite place to eat in New York City and I am filled with such joy every time I come here! Do not skip over this place!
What a great visit we had here when visiting the city. We specifically came for some early Christmas celebrations. After doing some research online for the best places to eat in little Italy, this was an option. We were sat right away when we came in. The waiter was prompt, and very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. We ordered the baked clams and the calamari to start. The reason that we came here was because I wanted penne ala vodka. And it did not disappoint! The noodles were al dente. And the sauce was delicious! My mom got the shrimp franchise, and my brother got the mussels. It also was very pretty inside. A little dated and a little on the smaller squeeze size. That would still not deter me from coming back again!
Paesano accommodated a big birthday party for my friends and I and we had the best time. The servers were attentive without being overbearing, very friendly and warm and created such a lovely atmosphere for the dinner. The food came out hot and fresh and all delicious( absolutely get the calamari, some of the best I’ve had in years!). The atmosphere and decor was nostalgic and gorgeous, exactly what you want to see and be surrounded by when eating in Little Italy. As a server myself, I know it’s not always easy to wait on very large parties but the staff did such an incredible job and made us feel welcome and cared for. If you’re looking for a classic dinner in Little Italy with great food, service, and vibe look no further than Paesano.
Paesanos is always a win. The rigatoni alla vodka is outstanding..creamy, rich and full of flavor..add grilled shrimp.. MONEY! Big shoutout to Gent, who seems to do everything in the place. Always working hard, staying on top of service, and keeping things moving. Highly recommend!
The fried block of mozzarella with white wine sauce and capers was delicious! The mushroom ravioli was VERY mushroomy. Highly recommend if you like mushrooms. Spaghetti carbonara was wonderful.
Food was amazing! We loved everything we ate. Outstanding service. We were attended to by server waiters who were all polite and helpful. They were impressive. As you can see from attached photos, the interior was decorated nice, it was comfortable, had AC-its was in the high 90’s and I lived the decor! If I ever return to NYC, I will definitely return!
Great little cozy restaurant in the heart of Mulberry Street’s Little Italy in NYC. We dined here for our family Christmas trip to NYC and it was perfect. The food was delicious, came out quick, and very affordable. We dined in with our 2 kids (10 &13) and they had a menu suitable for all pallets, which is why we decided to eat here. The atmosphere was perfect for Xmas with some nice lights dangling and decor. The only draw back was the seating was very tight and you’re on top of other tables. They do a great job fitting the tables into a small space, but don’t get up to use the bathroom during your meal. My wife and I both got the gnocchi bolognese, my daughter got Rigatoni a la vodka, and son got buttered spaghetti with meatballs. Portion sizes were on the bigger side. The pasta was definitely fresh and the sauces were delicious. Can’t forgot our fried calamari appetizer and house bread with oil and Italian seasonings.
This place is amazing and truly makes you feel like you are in Italy. Let me start by saying the appetizers are amazing . My go to entree is the chicken parm which is amazing. The service is always amazing , I have been here numerous times . Gent has always greeted me whenever I have went and the service is always on point. This place should be on everyone’s list even for a drink with some pasta it’s a perfect night .
We really enjoyed our meal at this place. Beware of the large portion sizes! The wine serving size was very good too! The house bread and seasoned oil were amazing. The ambience inside was nice but we chose to sit outside which was very nice too. My son loved the Ravioli and lasagne was nice too
Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can taste the quality in every bite — especially the fresh pasta and perfectly balanced sauces. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. This is the kind of place you come back to again and again. A true gem.
We walked through little Italy and the guy running the front of house here was amazingly friendly, not pushy, and assured us if we came back for dinner we’d get in without a reservation. The food was amazing and the portions were large. The pasta had to have been made fresh and the meatballs were amazing.
If you are looking for an authentic Italian meal definitely need to give this place a go! I am a traveler from Australia. I’ve travelled through Italy myself and can definitely vouch for the authenticity of this beautiful place. I had the meat ravioli for lunch and was very impressed with the size of the raviolis! Tip: if you are traveling this is a cheap place for a pasta lunch!
If you’re strolling through Little Italy, be sure to stop by this cozy little restaurant. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. While you wait for your order, you’ll be treated to some bread with garlic sauce—such a nice touch! The portions are huge—we couldn’t even finish everything. Even if something isn’t quite to your taste, the warm and inviting atmosphere makes up for it. Just a heads-up: the final bill includes an 18% service charge and gratuity.
If you're looking for incredible Italian food at unbeatable prices, this place is a must-visit! The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces rich and flavorful, and the portions generous. The staff was also fantastic—super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Despite the high quality of the dishes, the prices are surprisingly affordable, especially for NYC. It's rare to find such value without compromising on taste, service, or experience. Highly recommend!
I have been coming to Paesanos for at least 10 years. Every single time I am in the city, I must come! When I travel with anyone, I always bring them here. The food is AMAZING! My family, friends & I have tried every dish and everything has been incredible! Nicolo is always my waiter. He is so nice, and so attentive. He’s the best! The food, the atmosphere, the vibe, Nicolo. All of it is PERFECT! Paesanos is a MUST if you’re in Little Italy or NYC!
Picked this place out of all the Italian restaurants in the area and glad we did. Service was great and we elected to eat outside, even in March. Started out with the fresh bread and garlic sauce and it was delicious. Our server was very informative and helped us decide on our meals. I had the steak pizzeria and it was delicious, but the steak was tough. The pasta dishes were some of the best I have ever tasted. Overall we were well pleased with our meal.
We had a really good time here. We were looking for the classic little Italy experience and nailed it. The food was good. We got the spaghetti and meatballs, chicken alfredo, carbonara, and rigatoni alla vodka. All were good. We looked on reddit and it recommended this place as the best Italian food in Little Italy. We were pleased. The way the decorate the restaurant is great as well. All in all we were happy with the experience. Grazie Paesano.
I absolutely love this place, Ive been here 4 times and have always had the best service and food. The service is excellent, they treat you so well. My favorite is the rigatoni alla vodka. This past time I went I got the Combo deal (ask for it, its not on the menu) where you get 3 pastas and a salad for $25. I also had a Hugo Spritz that was amazing. Highly recommend. PS: if you do a birthday here, my mom called ahead and they did a nice dessert with personalized writing.
Paesano in Little Italy was excellent from start to finish. We ordered the calamari and the bruschetta, which was fresh and phenomenal. Then for the entrees we ordered fra diavolo, chicken parmesan, gnocchi, and linguini pescatore—and every dish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The fra diavolo had great heat, the chicken parm was crispy and classic, the gnocchi were soft and pillowy, and the seafood pasta was fresh and well-balanced. Consistent, well-executed Italian food done right. We’ve gone twice and we’d return again and again! Thank you <3.
We were a party of six with a toddler :) We ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad, two of their Pizzas and two pasta dishes :) Omg please try the Carbonara, it was to die for. Seriously. So tasty. The ambiance was very cozy and cute and our server Nikolas(Aldo) was super friendly and attentive. He gave us some great recommendations and he was kind overall :) Please order their Tiramisu and their Cannoli :) Jesus so delicious :) Reasonable prices for an amazing amount of food. We would definitely go back. Thank you all Thank you Nikolas(Aldo) ❤️🙏
I visited this place 7 years ago, it was my first time in NYC, and like a good tourist my dad wanted to visit little Italy, I remember that it was really cold and a friendly gentleman invited us to try the restaurant, the pasta was amazing, and since then every time I come to New York, I visit Paesano, it has never been a miss, and I have always been able to sit down pretty quickly, and the best part, the pasta is a amazing as when I tried it when I was a kid. If you want to eat great pasta, this is your spot. Their Sangria is also amazing and I recommend it. The only thing that could improve in this great restaurant is the texture and flavor of the bread, for a Italian restaurant this good, their bread seems to come out always cold and chewy.
A nice restaurant in Little Italy. The inside of the restaurant is really nice. I love the vibe in here. The food is pretty good overall. I really love their chicken parmigiana, lasagna, seafood marinara and they make good pizzas as well. Prices are reasonable. Great service as well.
Paesano offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a night out in Little Italy. The warm and welcoming decor makes you feel right at home. However, be prepared to wait in line, as it's a popular spot. The service is exceptional; the staff is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Unfortunately, the food doesn't quite live up to expectations. We ordered pasta, anticipating authentic and flavorful dishes given the restaurant's location in Little Italy and its Italian roots. However, the taste fell short, and we found ourselves wishing the food matched the high standard set by the ambiance and service. Overall, Paesano is a great place for the atmosphere and service, but the food might leave you wanting more.
My wife and I arrived from Los Angeles today for a week in the City. Our first stop was dinner in Little Italy. We had the Linguine with Clams in white sauce and the Gnocchi Bolognese. Both were tasty and the portion were excellent for the price. Service was exceptional and our water glasses were never empty. What a great start to the week!
If you're a pasta lover, this is the ultimate destination just for you! They offer unlimited bread and olive oil, which I have to admit, isn’t my favorite, but my friend absolutely adores it! We kicked things off with some appetizers that were decent, but not mind-blowing. However, the pasta itself was a delight—rich, flavorful, and definitely a highlight of the meal. If you’re in the mood for some amazing pasta, this place is a must-visit!
The lunch special here is amazing! They have a very good selection of pasta at a lower price then the regular menu. The bread and butter here is also really good. Something about that butter just makes me keep eating that bread. The service is also fast and the server gave good recommendations of things to do around the area after we were done eating. I would definitely come back to this place if I was in Little Italy.
Had lunch here on a weekend. The place was not very crowded, service was good. Spaghetti carbonara was not upto our expectation since the menu said they were one of first ones to make the red sauce, it tasted fine though. I loved the pesto sauce in Gnocchi. Veg pizza was also good in taste. I liked the whole atmosphere which kinda gave the little Italy vibe.
The food was alright! I liked the special kinda deal where you get 3 different kinds of pasta, salad for $25.99 I guess and also the drinks were good’ the place was super packed and I didn’t find the waiter to be too friendly. They were on rush to serve and don’t wanted to be bothered. But the overall experience was alright!
Ordered the lasagna and three pasta dinner special. Lasagna was a little heavy but overall very good. The three pasta dinner special represented a good value, the highlight being the linguine Alfredo. The salad was good but the tomatoes were anything but close to being ripe. Atmosphere was good but very loud. Service was good overall other than the excessive amount of times the waiters tried to push us out to free up a table. Alone, this took away from the feel of sitting down and enjoying a good meal without being rushed. I would recommend for something quick and within a reasonable budget but if you’re looking for that old world authentic feel, you’re just not going to get it.
We came to celebrate my sister's birthday. Since we arrived without a reservation, we expected to wait in line, but the wait wasn't long, about 15 minutes. They immediately brought us bread, filled our glasses with fresh water, and gave us the menus. They very attentively explained the dishes we were going to order and which wine would best complement them. The place was completely full, yet the bottle of wine and food arrived in 20 minutes. My sister ordered pasta quattro Formaggi, and I was given a bistec primavera. The pasta was perfectly cooked and smelled wonderful. The flavor was well-balanced; for my bistec primavera, the vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the sauce was good. Unfortunately, my steak wasn't good. I ordered it medium-well, and they gave me a well-done steak, which I have no problem with, but the meat itself was tough. I only ate the vegetables and a little bit of steak. To finish our meal, we ordered a slice of tiramisu with a candle to celebrate the occasion. When the waitstaff brought it out, they sang "Happy Birthday" to my sister, which was a lovely touch, and they do it regularly for everyone celebrating their birthday (don't forget to ask!). The bill didn't exceed $150, and we were very satisfied.
i came here with a friend and i’ve heard all good things about this place so i went to go try it! my friend and i got the lunch special house salad and fried chicken alfredo and both were good and filled us up rlly fast! their soft drinks are $3.50 but they do refills so it may be worth it to get it if you’d like. they gave us free bread and the only thing i didn’t like was that the chairs were a little wobbly and the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest, but besides that i liked this place and would return again, especially for their lunch deals!
Solid Italian spot in Little Italy 🇮🇹✨ Food hits the mark and surprisingly not heavy — rare for Italian places here. Started with Fried Calamari Marinara — super fresh, nice bounce, not greasy 🦑👌 Risotto Pescatore had plenty of seafood, flavors were clean and not overwhelming 🍤🍚 Osso Buco with risotto was great too — big portion, meat was fall-apart tender, still light 🍖💯 Service was friendly and efficient 🙂 Two pastas are more than enough for two people 🍝✌️ Perfect spot if you’re wandering around Little Italy, definitely worth a return 🌆❤️
One of the many Italian restaurants at Mulberry Street. Waiters stay out of the restaurant showing the menu to people passing by. Inside the ambiance is cozy and traditional. Waiters are patient and gentle. Many options on the menu. Appetizers, pasta, meat and more. I tried the lasagna. Not the best one I ever ate, but still good. I would consider it a good option if you are in the neighborhood.
Had been here on a weekend and it was super crowded. It was sometime before the waiter got to us. Complimentary bread was served which was hard and even a little burnt on the bottom. Wasn't fresh at all. We ordered rigatoni a la vodka with chicken and a chicken pizza with additional toppings. Food was okay. Pretty mediocre. I had high expectations but they failed to fulfill.
Very nice place. I loved the interior of the restaurant. I would not order there white wine, because I tried 5 different kind and went on beer . We had delicious tiny, crispy pizza. Also we had great pasta with white wine and calamari, the only thing I didn't liked to chew plastic, that was found there several times, but because I gave them a hard and unsuccessful time with wine I decided to leave it.
Would like to say something different, but the food was very poor, no flavor, no salt, no love. Came here because of apparently decent google reviews, but was a mistake. An Italian would be very annoyed to be eating that fettuccini Alfredo and average pizza. Restaurante inside looks beautiful though and it is cheap for NYC.
If zero stars was an option, that still would be to kind. We came in, got seated right away. The restaurant is small, yet cozy. The waiter brought bread and oil, however you'd think they would offer fresh baked bread.. but no.. it's like the grocery store kind you buy when you have a party of 100 people and you don't have time to serve the good stuff.. so your local Walmart is where you go for a baguette. Not good. Second, the menu. Asked the waiter for his opinion what would be better.. he recommended lobster tail francaise. It came out fast, I'll give 5 points for that. The rest..? The pasta was not good. They don't advertise that it's freshly made, which is whatever... but for an Italian place.. that has "excellent" reviews..? Makes me wonder if these people have actually been to a good Italian restaurant and tried true Italian pasta - inedible. The lobster tail, was so tough and tasted like fried fish. The entire time we were there, the service was slow, and it took forever for the waiter to finally come up and check on us. I did say I didn't like the pasta dish, he asked if he could bring something else out - I was already checked out mentally and declined. He did offer dessert - which, come to find out is NOT made in house, and he doesn't know where from. Maybe the food isn't either...? The check came... he didn't even offer to take the pasta dish off the check - which again, mind boggling.. when there was a whole plate of pasta untouched, and a fork bite of the fried fish tasting lobster. I understand this place is not fine dining, however I truly wonder do the people who go here... really know what good Italian food is. Needless to say, will not be coming back.
This is not authentic at all and I guarantee the noodles are not either , tastes like Walmart great value noodles that are $1. I have been to Italy and tried authentic Italian food so I know . And I’ve tried many Italian places that tasted way better than this in America. The lobster tail tasted like rubber. Super chewy couldn’t even eat it. Not sure how this place gets 5 stars . The service was terrible as well.
One would imagine Italian American cuisine in Little Italy to be edible pleasure. Es and I share the same birthday which we celebrate together every year. This year, I persuaded Es and Allan to try a new restaurant. Out of four names, Paesano of Mulberty Street was chosen hoping that our evening would be enjoyable. This was not the case. No aroma of cooking greeted us as we entered. While the restaurant was full, most of the customers looked like tourists. The garlic bread, Chamomile tea and the cannoli were the only foods that were tasty. Our dinner was dismal in flavor from Es’s eggplant parmigiana to Allan’s steak and my lasagna. The steak did not look like a steak but a ball of indescribable meat. My lasagna was small and tasteless. I struggled to eat it and finally gave up. Rao’s frozen lasagna is far superior. Both Es & Allan were given a mound of spaghetti with red sauce as were countless other patrons. Allan’s cheesecake was not as tasty as Veneiro’s. This was a total waste of money which we will not be repeating. Next year, we will once again go to John’s of 12th Street which consistently has delicious Italian American food.
