If you don't want to pay outrageous prices at the pier, this is a great stop to grab some delicious, fresh burritos!
This place has grown immensely in popularity. The reasons are simple. High quality fresh ingredients, prepared well. Great steak, real asada. Sometimes I make a mess with the burrito, but have never left this place disappointed. The consistent high quality is why I’m reviewing.
Love this place. Still shocked to this day by the portion size. incredible amount of carne asada goes in your burrito. amazing flavor all around great place.
Whomever created the playlist has fantastic taste in music. Food was delicious (a little over priced for tacos), seating is somewhat limited. Guacamole was probably the best I’ve had at a fast food spot.
I had the panko fish burrito and was thoroughly impressed. The location is great for taking your food down to the waterfront and eating at one of the many benches. Food was excellent and at a very reasonable cost. They happened to run out of rice when I ordered but it didn't impact the burrito in my opinion.
This review may be biased by the insane 60 degrees weather I got to enjoy my burrito in during the middle of February. Amazing spot to stop by to grab something quick, fresh and tasty to bring to the pier and eat. I loved it. Will be back again for sure during the warmer months.
What a joy it is to have a place like this nearby. Food is stellar and the portions are phenomenal. Would absolutely recommend stopping here for a beer and a few tacos. All the meats are well seasoned and you can tell they care bout the food they create. Great place to go in the summer.
Great little place in South Street Seaport with tacos and burritos and chips and stuff! The beans have a good flavor and the Cajun shrimp had a tasty grilled flavor. Nice, quick service. Outdoor seating only. Beers also available.
Amazing service, good selection of drinks and variety of food. I would highly recommend the horchata and their Mexican grilled corn. It's the best I've ever had in NYC. During busy times the food can take up to 20 minutes, but it is always worth the wait. Plenty of outdoor seating, on colder days it'd be best to get it to go with the limited indoor seating.
Love this place. Outdoor seating only, so it’s great for a nice day, but in my opinion not an option if it’s raining. Amazing small form factor tacos with really great sauces. Meat is always fantastic.
Underestimated this establishment based off the fact that the tortillas weren't homemade. But man the flavors, the tender meat, the spicy salsas, and the perfectly seasoned guacamole humbled me. I like the fact that they don't try to be authentic. The panko fish taco had a nice flare to it, and the carne asada was prepared way better than some "authentic" taco spots I've tried in the city that tend to dry out the meat. It was pretty obvious how much we were enjoying our food that the guy sitting in front of us at the benches kept looking back and eventually asked us if the tacos were really that good haha. Yes, man go get yourself a taco and enjoy!
I recently discovered Luchadores, and it’s my 3rd time coming back. I work really close to them and even on my day off I came to get my tacos. The carne asada, short rib, and chicken are my ultimate favorite. Very well seasoned. The staff is really friendly and attentive. They have made it a point to remember me. Kent and his wife are incredible and I’ll definitely be coming back and telling all my friends about it! CHECK THEM OUT! Thank you Luchadores!!!
Have loved this place for years! I went back this week for the first time in ages, and was both glad to see that it’s still around and that the food is still good. Really appreciate the vegan option (veggie tacos/burrito without cheese)
Fish tacos were on point and the shrimp burrito was amazing!!
I had the pleasure meeting Kent and he prepared all my food in front of me and my god everything fresh very delicious definitely help support this small business 😋 they deserve it xoxo 😘 food delicious
This the best taco place in the city! The owner and staff are lovely and want to make your order how you want it. The tacos are so favorful and filled with amazing meat and veggies as you request! 2 tacos filled me up and I would tell everyone about this place. Highly recommend!!
We tried the carne asada, pollo asado, cajun shrimp and panko fish tacos and they were delicious! The panko fish was fresh out of the fryer, crispy on the outside and juicy as soon as you bite into it. The shrimp had a nice kick to it. The pollo and carne asada were char grilled and lightly seasoned. It is a popular spot in the neighborhood. Good food at great prices across from the wavertree ship.
Looking for good tacos or burritos then I highly recommend this place. I especially enjoyed the panko fish tacos and carne asada burrito with a nice cold side of coke!! It’s right by the imagination playground and across the street from the east river. It’s right on the seaport. Friendly staff and clean place.
This literal hole in the wall Mexican place serves up delicious tacos, burritos and bowls. Some of the proteins are carne asada, pollo asado, panko fish, and shrimp. Toppings and dressings are included, although you will pay extra for chips and guacamole. It's a small space with very limited seating, but the waterfront park across the street more than makes up for that with great views and people watching.
Omg, we came here by mistake, and wow what luck we had!! Best tacos 🌮 we ever tasted, and the personnel was patient and kind, though we were skeptical of what to order. The place looks cheap but after the first bite it felt like 5-star restaurant!! If we get back to NYC I am definitely gonna come and eat here! Keep it up!!!
Walk by this place multiple times a week and the line was always out the door. Finally got to try this place today and man it was amazing. Ordered the tortilla soup with a pollo asado taco! Both were amazing! The soup was filled with chunks of chicken and the taco flavoring was on point. I eat lots of tacos and these are very good. Love the luchador theme. This place has a rustic charm to it. The staff was super friendly and nice. Will def be back.
Luchadores NYC is fantastic! The atmosphere is outstanding - vibrant and energetic. The food and service are both very good, making for an excellent overall experience. Highly recommend for a fun meal with great vibes!
I haven’t been to this spot in years and as a taco connoisseur, these tacos still slappp. Super quick service, the guy behind the counter has the coolest energy, and the location is just lovely. Loooove coming here when I’m in the area. Check it out!
We had a big dinner party here and everything went smoothly. These workers know what they're doing. The team's friendly nature is consistent. My taste buds were dancing with joy. I recommend trying their full menu.
I went to this place yesterday for lunch, they had a line as the place is small, however it was worth the wait. I ordered the shrimp and grilled chick an tacos with everything on it. The protein was so fresh and the taste was amazing. I’m editing this review because I just tried the chicken tortilla soup, and it’s the best I ever had and only $7 for a big portion! Definitely a must go!!!
Decided to try something different for lunch, been meaning to try Luchadores NYC not too far from my office. Took a stroll and it did not disappoint. Had the Pollo Asado and Panko Fish with everything on it and Sriracha Mayo taco 🌮. Yum 😋. I’ll be back. Maybe Burrito next time.
Fast service and excellent food. I don’t know how they season their meats but everything is so good! My favorites are the fish, chicken, and shrimp. The seating is outdoors so keep that in mind. Sometimes birds fly by the tables but that’s no big deal. I’d eat here every single day! Highly recommend!
We first discovered LuchaDores in 2022 during our first visit to NYC. Their chicken tacos - with popcorn & cilantro, lots of “red” sauce and a few drops of green sauce - are my favorite. Their guacamole is very good, too. Everything is fresh and assembled right in front of you. The building is small and there is no indoor seating, but they’ve erected a shelter in their patio where you may sit at one of 3 picnic tables.
Delicious mexican food with a seaport twist. Absolutely delicious burritos, quesadillas, guac and chips, and more! I have come to Luchador on many occasion, bringing friends, family, and frankly strangers too. I enjoy basking in the Seaport sunlight, as I absolutely devour anyone of their many delectable burritos.. I spill small crumbs of chips that dangle off my chin and make their way into the lowly harbor below. But I sleep well at night, knowing that I once again plowed into Luchadores and they fed me.
Good food, service, and prices. Enjoyed the carnitas. Thank you. They make giant 🌯 burritos, taco bowls etc. nice little dining zone. The employees are really kind and generous, they gave us free guacamole. Caronas are available. Go great with their awesome food. This place was really poppin at lunch time in the summer. Gracias!
A fabulous, reasonably priced Mexican restaurant right by the Seaport in FiDi. This hole in the wall place has delicious burritos with large portions of nicely seasoned proteins and superior cooked rice & beans. The vegetarian burrito, which has large pieces of mushroom, is the best I have had. The shrimp burrito is also recommended. The chips & guac are also great. There's a large covered seating area. Highly recommend for Mexican in FiDi.
stumbled upon this place while my friend and I were at the seaport. we wanted something authentic but not expensive. at first glance, don't let the appearance fool you. We were immediately greeted and served. We tried a variety of things made amazingly by Kent and the team. the food was spectacular. I highly recommend u coming to this place. Definitely try all the tacos, corn pop(elote), and the guacamole and chips amazing!
The prices are a little higher than I'm used to, but it's about average for Manhattan. The food itself is very good. And you get your food very quickly. It's kind of set up like if Chipotle was a decent restaurant and had actual Mexican food. Pretty good overall. The lunch special is a burrito and a soda, and the have Jarritos so I'll probably be coming back soon.
These are ok burritos. Nothing special in my opinion. Just probably a little bit better flavor than chipotle.
Great tasting tacos, burritos, and bowls for dining in or take out. I'm a huge fan of the diablo sauce and the chicharron is wonderful. Ordering individual tacos can get expensive - three tacos and a water ran me $20, but the burritos cost under $10; if you want value, get the burrito.
The food is good but the price is not justified.
Got two burritos, one carne asada and one fish. The meat one was really good, the fish one was good, but not great, though still a solid meat alternative. The place is a no frills place to get tacos. While it's not a hopping place, location is great and has plenty of seating room. It certainly beats the taco trucks where you have to eat your $10 taco standing up in the middle of the sidewalk! (Tacos here are $5, which is decent for the area; burritos are ~$15 but are solid, about the size of a parakeet! 🦜)
For a carryout Mexican spot, I was quite surprised and impressed by Luchadores! Well, I would’ve loved to see more vegetarian, protein options, the Veggie Quesadilla was actually incredible - I tend to not go for quesadillas because they are often pretty bland, but there was a ton of flavor here from the mushrooms and onions. I also really loved the nachos, which are vegetarian and come fully loaded. The prices are also very reasonable and service is quick. The only reason for one star off is because while service is quick, it was NOT very friendly on the day I was there. Although I was very polite and upbeat, the cashier didn’t seem to want anything to do with the customers. Oh well.
After a long day out on Governors Island and walking down the piers, came across this little summer hotspot. I had a chicken Taco and a carnitas quesadilla both of which were awesome. The tacos were small but super tasty and the quesadilla was STUFFED to the max. It was super busy when I got here and the one start I took off was due to the extra long wait - but other than that, definitely should give it a try.
Subscribe to my youtube channel ABoricuaLifeinUSA and Instagram. This is a hard review..it's the little things that make me give it that rating. The chicken tortilla soup was great except that it was slightly cold. It needed to be hotter in temperature. Flavor wise was excellent. Large chunks of chicken and the tortillas was crispy. The taco on the other hand was nothing special. It was good, but not great. It needed maybe a spicy sauce. I asked for the spicy sauce and it was mild. Customer service was good. Price was about 12$ for soup and taco. I might go back again..give it a try..
New to the area, we ordered lunch at the recommendation of a museum employee. There is fabulous food all around the Seaport. Unfortunately, we wasted our time and money at this charmless counter-service cafe with mediocre Mexican food.
The food was alright, but the cost of eating at this place is not justified. Three burritos and jarritos for three people, plus tip, ran around $65 for a meal that was comparable to what one can get at a Chipotle. The sitting arrangement outside by the port area may seem quaint but those tables looked like they had not been cleaned for a while. Too much to pay for a food truck experience, even for Manhattan.
Luchadores NYC is a decent spot for a quick bite if you're craving Mexican food, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. The tacos were flavorful, especially the al pastor, but the portion sizes felt a bit small for the price. The atmosphere is fun and lively, with a cool lucha libre theme, but the seating is pretty limited, making it tough to find a spot during peak hours. Service was friendly but a bit slow, even when it wasn’t too crowded. Overall, it's a solid option, but not necessarily a must-visit. Food was definitely good though.
Kitsch place just off the water in Financial District with a very non-New Yorky vibe. For the price, not the best value for money. Happy hour special from 11am - 2pm for 3 tacos for $11.95 plus tax. Kind of pricey ($15 after tip) for nothing spectacular. Food isn't bad, but you can get better takeaway tacos elsewhere for a cheaper price.
Pretty good burrito but nothing crazy. Good selection of ingredients and pretty filling. Price was decent too. Staff was not too friendly when i was trying to ask questions but maybe they were just having an off day. Would recommend if you are in the area but i wouldnt go out of my way to come here.
Convenient location. Right off the pier where in the summers can be very busy and congested. Food is good but not excellent for how much it is worth. $10 for 2 tacos. Ok, as a Mexican we are used to having a traditional balance with meats and condiments. Don’t get me wrong. Food is good. Not bad. But too expensive. If you just got paid or don’t worry about your wallet then you should be ok. Otherwise don’t say I didn’t warn you.
I would go back for a burrito. I had a carnitas & a pollo asado taco. It’s a cute spot for lunch for sure. Staff was real nice. I’m more of a flower tortilla guy over the corn I got. The carnitas were really tasty. There’s some stiff competition downtown for tacos. That being said, I’m spoiled with the toppings bar at other spots and will prob go elsewhere for a taco next time.
Recent change in ownership. Burrito went from a five star to a two. Was basically half as large as before and the quality clearly wasn't the same. For the same price obviously. Pretty disappointed. Hope they get it together cause it's a great spot.
I got the steak / carne asada burrito. The steak was so tough it made the burrito inedible. Kept having to pick the meat out to eat. The meat should be better quality for the price.
Over priced and under portioned. I ordered the Cajun shrimp taco. It only came with 2 pieces of shrimp (for $8). The shrimp was cold. There was no Cajun flavor at all. The spicy salsa wasn’t spicy in the slightest. The worst Mexican food in nyc by far.
If you want to eat worst taco in the town then you definitely should come to here. Don’t trust the points guys. workers attitude was awful. I do not recommend here
The food had no flavor. It was so bland, not even with jalapeños, did it give the food good flavor. the server said the seating area was warm and walking into the little room was like walking into a freezer. There was a little portable heater but didn’t heat much.
12/30/2023 6:30 PM RUDE! DIRTY! Shredded chicken was sitting in 2 inches of grease/oil. It looked like it hadn’t been touched/stirred in hours. All the food in the metal bins looked old. Counter and glass and the lucha masks were filthy. We waited 5-10 minutes while the counter person stood and watched the cook make guacamole, never even acknowledged us. Finally came to the counter and I said Hey, how’s it going? and he just frowned, scowled and looked like he was mad at us for being there. (Like this. 😡) Never said a word. So we left. Never tried the food but it didn’t look good or fresh. We’ll never go back! So many other nice places in NYC. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS PLACE!
THE nastiest burrito I’ve ever had! I ordered a plan bean, cheese, and sour cream burrito. I got something DISGUSTING with LOTS of mushrooms and other stuff that I did not ask for. First and last bite was a very long & cold mushroom. To top it off the burrito was not only cold but the tortilla was freezing & stiff! THIS IS NOT MEXICAN FOOD!!!!!! Tried to call their phone number (3) times…no answer! Now I’m hungry, grossed out, and frustrated. 0 stars if I could. Take you $$$ elsewhere.
Had my suspicions about this place with how run down it looked. To keep it short, my whole family became SICK in the stomach with diarrhea after eating here and it wasn’t rocket science to figure out this place was the culprit. Burritos never get me sick but this place got all of us in and out the bathroom…a very unpleasant experience. I have suspicions that the food isn’t kept well hot since it is outdoors and the employees seemed to be touching everything with the same gloves. Worst of all the burritos were very average and the tacos were laughably small for 6 dollars. Definitely will never ever come here again
