A Historic restaurant in the middle of the country that should get a little more credit. This place is well known for their prime rib and that absolutely shows. If you are driving from Rochester to Niagara Falls and like meat, don't take the thruway go on ridge road and 27 miles down the road from Rochester you will find this. This place has some of the greatest food I have ever seen. The service was great, the staff was nice and most importantly the food was great. Just make sure you have a reservation because it can get really packed. Don't underestimate it's location. Gladly would give this a 5/5
Haven't been here for brunch in 3-4 years. What an improvement from then. $11.95 is a reasonable price for the many items with coffee and juice. Huge omlettes, nicely cooked bacon, sausage, delicious potatoes, eggs Benedict, soup, salads, yummy variety of desserts and MORE. All very good and pleasant staff..
Tillman's has the best prime rib around! I've been here with a size groups from small groups of four, to my rehearsal dinner for 30 people to a full wedding for my aunt. Great staff, great atmosphere and great food. Handicap accessible, kid friendly, kid menu, full bar, several banquet halls, moderately prices for a high quality meal.
Great food and service. New owners are doing an A+ job. Keep up the great work.
Great meal snd service by Allie last night. She is only 21. If she didn’t know one of questions, she went and checked. . She gave us time to enjoy our cocktails before salads arrived. Plus other positive service. Great Service Allie
I was fortunate enough to attend several events before they fully opened. The food is incredible and very affordable!! You will not be sorry that you stopped here!
Portions are huge. Personally I would rather pay less and get less food because I can't eat that much, but they let my husband and I share a queen size prime rib so it was a perfect solution and everything was very good. Server was so nice and my Manhattan was perfect. Great night.
Tillimans Village Inn is a beautiful old building with a classic steak and seafood menu. Service is prompt and pleasant! Pantries are delicious! Cocktails are perfect! Prices are moderately high, but a very good value. Besides the main restaurant the full bar is cozy with experienced bartenders to make that perfect cocktail. The banquet room is the perfect venue for a small or medium size event. At a recent event we attended at Tillmans, we and everyone raved about the incredibly delicious food and desserts. We live in Rochester, but we drive out to Tillmans as I don't know of a restaurant in Rochester that checks every box like Tillmas does and does well! Take the drive and check it out, you won't be disappointed!
Held my parents' 50th anniversary lunch in one of the event rooms. Mark and his staff were great to work with. The room was setup as requested, the food was good and all were happy. I would definitely recommend this place!
Stayed there on a fishing trip. Accommodations were excellent n staff was very friendly. I did eat there one night, and I will say the prime rib was outstanding. Service and atmosphere were awesome. Highly recommend a visit.
I had the Salmon Steak and it was cooked to Perfection!! 4 of us had a very nice dining experience. Compliments to the chef.👍👍 Also our server, Brittany ,was Very pleasant 👍
Tillman’s Village Inn is one of the good ones. This place is always on point. Like a well oiled machine everyone works together to provide you a great atmosphere with an even better meal. Polite staff that doesn’t miss a beat and double thumbs up for the entree’s. Their Chef really knows what she is doing. If you want to roll out of the weekend properly I highly recommend the Sunday brunch buffet.
Simply awesome fine dining experience date night restaurant and more...great staff..which makes a proper eatery...!!!!
Celebrated my Dad’s 85th Birthday with 21 of us and we had a ball!! The Service was EXCELLENT and the food was FABULOUS! Serving all of us within 10 minutes of each other and keeping everyone’s food hot was impressive! We WILL be back!!
The meal was superb. The prime rib melted in my mouth. The best I've had in a long time. Service was prompt and excellent. Dont forget the pecan pie to top off fantastic meal.
We had excellent food, price and service. We will definitely be back soon.
We held an anniversary party at the Tavern. Chad and Julia were easy to plan with and they delivered on a great event. Would recommend hosting events here.
Pleasantly surprised by this out of the way place. Historical building, good food at a great price. Portions were just the right size, not overwhelming for a change. The staff was attentive but not interrupting. Great atmosphere. Will go back soon for sure.
This is an outstanding establishment. Such a shining gem in a very small town. wait staff was outstanding. the aged prime rib....... so good itll make your toes curl up. hardly even need your knife. portion sizes are truly Murican! Honestly...if u like beef that someone truly cares how well they serve it...u gotta stop here... is it cheap? no. but nothing good is ever cheap. Treat yourself....you absolutely wont regret it!!!
I have eaten at Tillman's for both business/political meetings as well as personal nights out. Meals have always been very good. My steak last night melted in my mouth and the chicken french today was moist, tender and very flavorable. Service is always great and everyone is very courteous. I highly recommend stopping in and the investigate the cobblestone museum next door.
A very unique dining experience at a historic place that once was an old stagecoach stop. Very clean and the staff are friendly and very attentive. Prime rib there is very very good. Other meal choice portions are very adequate so come hungry.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Tavern on the Ridge. Wonderful service, cozy atmosphere, and incredibly delicious food.
Never a bad visit. Only have indulged in brunch buffet and it's always a good selection. Well worth the $12/pp. celebrated several birthdays involving larger parties, staff was well accommodating. My next visit will be for dinner!!!
We have been going to Tillmans for many years. Last night we took our friends for their 1st time, they absolutely loved it too. My husband is in a wheelchair and the staff is very accommodating. The parking lot was full due to a wedding reception so we did have to wait for a handicapped space. We will be back soon to celebrate a birthday!
There were 3 of us for dinner but we were early for walk in seating so we went to the bar. My cocktail was delicious and the bartenders were amazing. Very engaging and helpful. The came and notified us when our table was ready. Two of us had the sherry crab soup. Amazing, you could taste the freshness of everything in it. I then had the fish special. So delicious. The other ladies had chicken parmigiana with fettuccine. They really like it. Service was outstanding. We will definitely be going back.
Had rehearsal dinner here for a party of 25. Atmosphere was wonderful. Classy with nice lighting and no loud music to talk over. Service was flawless! Waitresses went above and beyond to keep everyone happy. Food was absolutely amazing! Heard nothing but compliments for the salmon, steak, chicken parm, and polish sausage dinners. Also had a variety of appetizers that were equally delicious. Owners were delightful to deal with. Will definitely be back often. Thank you to the entire staff for making a special occasion for my family so enjoyable!
Great food! One of the areas best chefs! Great atmosphere, in one of Orleans Counties historic buildings. Very friendly, personable, and inviting staff! If you’re in the area do yourself a favor and stop in for some great food, drinks, and atmosphere!
The food was excellent! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Our personal favorites were the crab sherry soup, blackened shrimp, and the tavern burger! Service was amazing! Staff is very friendly and helpful! Atmosphere is very cosy and rustic! Highly recommend! ☺️
The Chicken Parm was amazing! The pasta for it was homemade, and the chicken was delicious. I definitely recommend it. Our waiter Maddie was very nice and quick with getting us our food. She was amazing.
Both of us had fish frys. They were excellent, even the fries, tarter sauce, coleslaw and bread. Delicious.
My husband and I have driven past this building so many times when it was for sale. Tonight was the first time we’d had the pleasure of dining here. We are staying on property for the weekend and were excited to see it open. My mother had The Blackened Blue burger, without bleu cheese crumbles-I know-strange. They allowed a substitution of cheddar. She loved EVERY bite. I had the Beef on Weck wrap. Never before have I had it as a wrap, but it was fantastic. My husband had the pork chop sandwich. He is a man of very few words, but did not mince them when it came to this sandwich. I also had the French Onion Soup. I try it at every restaurant we visit, and their French Onion is in my top 3. If you’re traveling the area, please stop in to try them.
This is restaurant a MUST! The spinach artichoke dip is a refreshing twist on the “same ol’ “ appetizer with their homemade chips, I also tried the Sherry crab soup and I have never had a more delicious, sweet, buttery crab soup in my life! The main entrees we ordered were out of this world too, and then we ordered dessert despite being stuffed just so we could try to HOMEMADE dessert. It was AMAZING! I am so glad this establishment is open again, the owners are visible and will check in at your table. When you go- ask for Kaleigh to be your server! She is so sweet and cheerful, she will make sure your experience is great!
The food was DELICIOUS!!!!! We celebrated one of our sons birthday there (6 of us) and all of us enjoyed. This is our 4th time there! We will be back again for sure! Andrea :-)
I loved my meal, I had the snitzel. The waitress was great. Our cocktails were also good
Delicious food at really good prices. High quality options with steak and seafood. Very helpful and friendly staff. Plenty of seating and parking. Cozy and modern.
My family and I had dinner at The Village Inn on Easter Sunday. We have frequented the restaurant several times as it is one of our favorites. It was extremely busy which is a good indication to me that others enjoy it as much as we do. The buffet selections were abundant and always kept neat, full and fresh. I was amazed at how efficiently the staff performed under what appeared to be non-stop customers coming through the door. They were very courteous and friendly even under pressure. As busy as he was, Mark(the owner)made time to stop by several tables, including ours, to make sure that everything was satisfactory. As always the food was excellent and reasonably priced. A great value. We will definitely be back.
I had the sirloin and my husband had the polish plate and both were amazing! Service was great also. We will definitely be going back!
This was our first time eating atdo Tillmans. The food was out of this world. The best steak that I have ever had. Out server was very sweet. She has been there for 32 years. Her name is Kim. So I'd you desire to go there ask for her by name. Great people. I hope you enjoy.
Tillmans is known for the prime rib. I had a queen cut, which was the perfect size and was also perfectly cooked. I ordered the stuffed pepper and ham soup instead of a salad, it was excellent! The meal came with potato or rice or vegetable, I had the broccoli as a side vegetable, again very nicely done, seemed just lightly steamed, really good. I only had water, and the waitress was very knowledgeable on the meal and all the specials and kept our glasses full as well as bringing a pitcher with ice for us. We started out with a shrimp cocktail that was fantastic, 4 huge so tasty shrimp. Overall experience was super! Great service, food and price. I have never had a bad experience when eating here...everyone always seems very friendly when visiting.
My wife and I really enjoy the friendly atmosphere and service. Dinners were outstanding and reasonably priced. The Sherry Crab soup is a "Must Try" for any newcomer.
Our huge group made a reservation and we had a great time! Attentive wait staff, great food, served pretty quick. Really nice dining area. Seemed clean and well maintained.
A great birthday dinner for my two dear friends! The polish platter was excellent, the roast beef wrap of absolutely very tender and the wrap was slightly crispen to perfection! The French fries that came with the roast wrap, were excellent! The beef wellington was delicious, very tender and done to my liking! The atmosphere was very pleasing to your eye, and very comfortable! A very extrodinary historic landmark, inside, and out! The service was very friendly, attentive, and very accommodating!
After driving 6 hours to stay at the inn, we were tired and hungry. We were seated within 10 minutes, just enough timeto get a drink at the bar. Food was great, staff friendly and efficient. We'll be back!
We recently held my father's 80th birthday celebration here and couldn't be more pleased with the accommodations. The food was appetizing and plentiful. The service was professional and courteous. As this was a private party, the restaurant was closed allowing us to have an intimate family gathering in a comfy atmosphere. My mom said that Julia was a dream to plan with and went above and beyond in assisting her with the party plans. I/we would highly recommend this venue for any type of event.
The atmosphere was semi elegant. Service was great and food was spectacular. Don't go by what you see on line. They have a little of everything. Food was plentiful for two meals and very very good with looks and savory.
We have been a few times and the food and service has always been very consistent and above average. So happy that this restaurant has been reopened and is better than ever. We had a friend visiting last month and decided to bring her to the Tavern on a Friday night. Madison was our server and she was the best. Thank you for great food and wonderful service. I know this review is later than it should be, but I did remember finally.
Beautiful, comfortable atmosphere, handcrafted drinks, homemade desserts, and excellent main entrees. Now added to the list of favorite restaurants!
If you like salmon this is the place to get your fix!! Can’t remember when or if I’ve ever had salmon cooked to perfection like this. Amazing flavor amazing service and great company! You won’t be disappointed with anything you order here. My husband had the chicken Parmesan and left nothing on his plate. Wish I could give 10 stars, next time I’ll make sure to get some photos.
Wife and I absolutely adore The Tavern. The first night we came in we were in pretty dire straights after recently suffering from a devastating loss. They were all so warm and inviting, which has only continued since that night. We have been back several times since and always leave happy. The food is fantastic, including daily specials which range from unique and inventive to good 'ol comfort food done right. The bartender Collin is a real star. Exceptionally talented and sure to impress with any cocktail you can think of. We're moving a bit further away soon but will happily make the extra drive to come back as frequently as possible. Albion is blessed to have such an establishment.
I had dinner there last night. Had the 8oz sirloin and it was outstanding. We met one of the owners and she was bubbly, accommodating, and extremely friendly. We will be back again next year when we camp at Lakeside.😊
We chose this place on a whim after a day of fishing. We were seated quickly and Madison (our server) greeted us right away. We chose two specials for ourselves and our sons had a burger and wings. The food was delicious, the beer was cold, and our server was awesome! She explained the menu and when she found our we were vacationing she had suggestions on local hikes and outings. This place is a gem!
Love the crab cakes , taste so fresh and tasty. Rice is perfect too also love the Cajun topping too. So original and a signature dish for this restaurant.
This is by far, the best place to eat in our small town of Albion. The food is amazing, authentic and home made. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The service is immaculate. Also the place is so nice and redecorated from what tillmans used to be. It feels so much cleaner and more welcoming. I love tavern on the ridge!!!!!!
The food here is fantastic. Better than anything else in Albion and rivals some of the fine food establishments in Medina as well. Between my wife and I, we get out of there with two dinners, 2 drinks each and tip for under $100. You'd pay way more at other locations. Give them a shot and thank me later.
Such an excellent dining experience. From the gracious welcome to the courteous and friendly staff we could not have asked for more. The dining area was warmly lit,, tastefully decorated and the acoustics were great - no uncomfortable noise and our party of four could talk and hear without raising our voices. The menu offered excellent choices for a variety of tastes. ... and our entrees were promptly served. The bottom line, the food ...? Was absolutely delicious. I passed on the dessert, but my wife and friend's wife did not ... and they were quite happy they didn't - "Super" to quote their description. I fully recommend TAVERN on the RIDGE ... great people - who will make your decision to go there, one you'll not regret. Tom Valley Medina
Wonderful to return to the location of a once famed restaurant, to enjoy the beginnings of a new restaurant. The facility is nicely cleaned, the improvements to the rooms, furniture, and decor are wonderful. We did not have reservations and seeing the frequency of people coming and going, we should have. Regardless, we did not have to wait. We were taken into the South side of the building, where we never actually sat before. The marble looking booth tables and padded seating was very nice; the floors were amazing, and the tables and chairs were very nice. Ample room and loved the window decor with hanging stain glass for enhancement. For appetizers, we ordered Bavarian Pretzels and the cheddar sauce somewhat resembled a humus grit but thinner and creamier; a texture and flavor some may prefer. The pretzels were very good. For our main plates, we ordered a Chicken Parmesan with House Marinara over Papardelle pasta. The chicken was tender and the marinara was fine, the pasta seemed more like a Fettuccine noodle than Papardelle, but it was delicious. We also ordered a handheld, Beef on Weck Wrap with Provolone and an A-1 Aioli in a baked salt and Kimmelweck Wrap (basically a wrap, baked with salt and a few caraway seeds on it). It was very good meat flavor with a large wrap. We took half of the sandwich home and used the meat in a breakfast omelette the next morning. The side of french fries were delicious and the pickle was a perfect touch to a beef on weck wrap. I especially liked that the Heinz was in a bottle! You don't see that very often, anymore! :D Over all, we were pleased with the staff, the server was a very pleasant girl who gave us just the right amount of attention. The new owners give the place just the right amount of class. Even the thought of sitting at the bar after dining, for a drink with a few friends would be a pleasant experience. We will return.
Food was good, but seating was compact. I felt like part of a herd of cattle. Plus the walls looked like a fence so it really felt like we were caged in. Other then getting bumped every time a waiter went by, it was a good atmospheric place to eat.
Mash potatoes were terrible. They had no flavor kind of like they were made with half the water or milk. We have been coming here for years and will continue to come but I won't get the mashed potatoes again. Please try to upgrade how they are made. The rest of the meal was great along with everyone else's meals.
For the Albion area it's a good place to have a reasonably priced dinner.
I've been going to the Village Inn since I was a child. It has a homey, rustic decor which reflects it's history as a historic stage coach stop. Many of the staff have been there for years & the service is always wonderful. The food is delicious, I love their prime rib. Prices are very reasonable. If you are in the area, you really should try it, if not it's worth a special trip!
Went here for dinner on a Friday a few weeks ago. Fish fry was pretty good. My biggest issue is that they charge $1.00 for refills on your drink. I’ve never been at a restaurant where they charge you for refills. The glasses are so small and they completely fill it with ice. Please change your policy regarding this.
Very good fish fry and baked potato. The cole slaw was not at all cold, didn't eat it. Good service, busy but seated immediately and served our food quickly. Nice atmosphere.
The food was very good, for the price point I was a bit put off by the plastic plates, but overall it was a wonderful meal. My medium rare Delmonico was closer to medium than rare and most of the table the steaks were equally cooked towards the more well done side, not a huge problem just something to be aware of if you like your steaks more rare.
Visited 3 weeks ago with family. The owner was not present (surprised) the chicken was overdone and dry. The rack of ribs were also very dry and covered in barbeque sauce still did not help. The waitress never told us the specials, and acted like she was being bothered. I asked for a second beer rather soon after I received the first beer. The waitress was going to say I just got you one, but after looking twice at my empty beer bottle, she just went off . Once I received my beer the waitress was showinly disgusted, and had nothing to say. My mother-in-law joined my wife and I for dinner, she tossed out her chicken. WORD TO THE WISE , ONLY EAT THERE IF THE OWNER IS PRESENT.The owner reached out and made this right, We will be back.Thank you Mark look forward to seeing you again.
The food was slightly overpriced for the quality. The service was good and accommodating.
So I was there the first Saturday of October, my Friends and I went for Dinner, my Friend and I both Ordered the Salmon in a Puffed Pastry which was Excellent, however, we couldn't finish it because we had an appetizer, plus salad, so we asked to have the reminder boxed up & asked for More of the Delicious sauce to accompany it, so it wouldn't be dry. The Chef absolutely refused to make any extra sauce even though we were told that he makes it individually for each portion. So what would be the big deal if he made 2 extra portions for my friend and I? I'm sure it didn't take forever to make a little bit extra for us! May I also point out that the Restaurant was by No means Bustling with customers! So if this is how he treats his Customers, with this review they're gonna get less! I would have thought he would have been delighted to serve his customers? Guess not?????
We decided to try the food here so we ordered take out. We ordered the Beef on Weck Wrap and the Tavern Burger. Both meals were very delicious. The Beef on Weck was missing some fries, and the fries we did receive were not fully cooked. They were limp and greasy, but we still ate them. There was no Ketchup in the bag even though I specifically asked for it. We had to wait a few minutes for our order so we sat at the bar and had a beer. The Bartender Colin was very attentative and nice! Next time we eat here we are coming into the restaurant for the full experience! Great job everyone!
I was searching for the biggest and best prime rib and found ourselves an hour away from home! Well worth the drive! Prices are great and food is delicious! Don't forget to ASK for the special of the day as your waitress will not voluntarily offer you that information. My husband really enjoyed the flights of wine for $8.95 and there are plenty of desserts to choose from. Three things I didn't like is that they sat everyone close to each other, so there was no privacy, even though the restraunt had plenty of open tables all over. Also, there was no dinner music on, which made being so close that much more uncomfortable. Lastly, the woman who took my reservation was way too eager to end our phone call. I didn't even have time to ask a question or tell her we were celebrating my husband's Birthday. 😞
I’m a bit torn on how to review Tavern on the Ridge. Overall, I found it to be just okay. The service was wonderful—attentive and welcoming—but the food didn’t quite meet my expectations. The appetizers were a highlight. We tried the Fried Provolone Wedges and Bavarian Pretzels, both of which were enjoyable. The Sherry Crab Soup was flavorful, with some nice-sized pieces of crab. However, the entrées and dessert left something to be desired. The Maryland Crab Cakes, while crispy on the outside, were overly mushy inside and lacked much crab flavor. The accompanying rice pilaf also had a mushy texture. The garlic green beans, on the other hand, were well-cooked and tasty. The Chicken Parmesan was just okay—the chicken had an odd texture, possibly frozen, and didn’t quite have the taste or consistency of fresh chicken. The pasta and marinara sauce were fine but nothing exceptional. For dessert, we tried the Valentine’s Day special lava cake for two. Unfortunately, the cake itself tasted microwaved and lacked flavor, though the chocolate lava filling was well-done. That said, I wouldn’t write this place off. There’s definite potential here, especially given its historic location and next to the Fair Haven Inn. With some refinements to the entrées and desserts, Tavern on the Ridge could become a fantastic dining spot. I’d happily return for drinks and appetizers, and I’d be interested in trying something from their handheld menu. While the entrees weren’t quite my “cup of tea,” I see promise in the atmosphere and service, and I hope to see this place continue to grow.
January 11,2015 My wife and I spent the night (escape getaway package) It included room for a night and a $30.00 voucher for dinner. We entered our room to find it was not very warm and there was no way to adjust the heat. There was a gas fire place in the corner of the room but there was no way to turn it on. I checked with the desk and they said there was a $10.00 charge for the remote to turn on the fire place. We decided not to use it. The forced air furnace cycled every 30 seconds but only keep the rooms cool not warm. (I think the filter is needs replacement or the furnace is sized to small for the amount it needed to heat). We showed up around 7:30 for dinner and was told there was a 20 min. wait even though there was many empty and set up tables in sight (at least 6 that we could count). Once we sat down (at one of the empty tables) Dinner was very good and reasonable. We also ate their brunch the next morning which I would recommend. I do not think I would stay the night again or at least not in the winter.
I've heard good things about the food at this rustic place. Everyone around me had good meals but mine was a dud.. over cooked and bland. Prime rib looked excellent though, so I haven't written the place off yet. Might have to go back for one.
Have been here a handful of times over the years. Service is usually hit or miss I think we have seen both ends of the spectrum with the service. The prime rib is definitely the way to go, awesome. Had a buffet dinner at a wedding there as well. Service for the wedding was very good, and the food was ok. I would recommend going for the prime rib, the service may not be top notch but the prime rib is.
My wife and decided this past Saturday to celebrate our anniversary with a trip to Tillman's. We normally eat there once a year or so and have always enjoyed the food. This time though what a waste of money. My wife had the prime rib, which had always been good, and it was terrible. No taste at all. I ordered the seafood platter and the crab cake was tasteless, the fish was tasteless and the scallops were breaded and cooked so long I couldn't even get my fork into them. I don't usually complain but when you are spending $30 per person for drinks and food you would expect better.
Satisfactory meal in an historic setting. The menu appears to be aimed at appealing to older patrons. Although the house speciality seems to be prime rib, we both had fish. We found the food to be reasonably well prepared if not overly imaginative. Service was good. We would go back if in the area.
Had a lunch sized prime rib. It's thinner sliced & does not include salad or bread. 1/2 of it was animal fat & it was only slightly warm. The parts I could eat tasted OK. Not their usual quality.
Brunch was disappointing. I thought it was mediocre. But my wife and kids actively disliked it. We found the food was cold and stale in some cases. Still giving 3/5 stars because this is not reflective of our previous experiences. In the past we have had nothing but great meals. We will update rating and review after our next visit.
Twice now the food has been terrible. This time asked for hot wings and got served just plain. Simple order that cannot be executed. Won't be going back to this local place.
I haven't been at Tillmans for over a year. Last time our food was over cooked (prime rib and strip steak). When we complained owner was rude to my aging mother. Went today and both steaks were dry and way over cooked. The bottom of my girlfriends medium was burnt black. My brothers seafood platter was overcooked. Must be the cooks were watching the game. My family has been going there for more than 50 years. Won't ever be back. $135 not well spent. I'm a cook. Should have cooked at home.
We ate here about a year ago and the food was excellent, so this year we had family from out of town here and decided to take the drive out once again. There were 6 of us and we did arrive a little later due to our work schedules it was around 6:30 they closed at 8. Upon entering there was an older woman who resembled Cruella and she greeted us as if we were bothering her. She informed us it would be about 15 minutes before we would be seated despite the fact there were empty tables all over the place. Part of our party was using a cane and had trouble walking and there was no place to rest while we waited. Then there were some other large parties that came in and were also rudely greeted. We finally got seated and the hostess informed me where I should put my children as if she knew they would act up. Our waitress was nice and the food was good. I can't imagine ever recommending this place to anyone after how we were treated and that awful woman needs to give it up and let someone else greet people as her people skills are horrendous! If people are bothering you coming in with children a little later in the day then retire, get a new job, close earlier, or don't have a children's menu!!!!
I would very much have like to give them a better rating. Unfortunately, the food truly was mediocre. We went a s a large group initially a few months back and we had a few issues. We figured perhaps it was because we were a large group... And thought we would give it a go with just the 2 of us. Unfortunately, the best thing on the menu was their fried pita a few months back, with the dip being underwhelming.
The service was horrible we had a party of nine we were seated after showing ourselves to the bar and didn’t have a server for a good 30 minutes the salmon was disappointing the best part was the kid food we will definitely find a new place for Mother’s Day the fact we got a check faster then a server is horrible
We have been here several times over the years and loved the food, atmosphere, and service every time. It was a very different experience today. We waited over one hour for our entrees to be served for a party of three. My wife's order was incorrect - waitress brought shells and meatballs after ordering filet special medium rare. Food was sent back and given to us on the way out in to-go containers since our other meals were finished for a while. A shrimp cocktail appetizer with 4 jumbo shrimp was 11 dollars. A shrimp scampi entree for 20 dollars was 6 shrimp in a butter sauce on a plate with a lemon slice garnish and a scoop of mashed potatoes on the side in a bowl. We were not asked how our food was while we ate, water was not refilled until the to-go order was brought to our table. Management walked around to tables around us asking how other diners' meals were and we were ignored. We had to flag down the manager to explain our dissatisfaction. He gave us 20 dollars off our bill. We won't be coming back again.
One word - INCONSISTENT! My wife and I dined here last Thursday evening and had a 5 star experience!! We returned last night (Saturday) hoping for the same experience and we're completely astounded at the meal we were served. While Thursdays and Saturdays were essentially the same meal (Wedge salad w bacon on the side and a medium 4oz steak add on), Saturdays was not served how we ordered it! The Wedge salad came with the bacon directly on the salad and the waitresses remark "that they picked most of the bacon off." When we saw the add on medium steak my wife's was beyond well done and mine was on the edge of well done!! Simple directions were ignored completely and the meal was a complete disappointment to both of us. This was our fifth visit here and I can say it will be awhile before we return, if at all!!! $16.00 in steak that was not anywhere near medium! Asking that the bacon be on the side to be served excuses not what we ordered!
I had heard great things about TVI. That's why I decided to drive over an hour one way to try them out. This proved to be a mistake. The new go to for poor quality service is now "we have staffing issues." When we sat down, we had a very nice staff member (server) greet us and tell us the daily specials. No problem there. My friend and I ordered French onion soup which came out in a reasonable time and was delicious. When the server came back to order our entrees is when it went downhill. I ordered the king cut prime rib medium with king crab leg add-on and a blue cheese salad. Also, we ordered another round of drinks. We waited and we waited and we waited. Eventually, flagging down the server reminding her that we awaiting our salads and drinks. Again, we waited and waited and waited. Lo and behold, the entrees came out. We have not yet received our salads. Nor our other round of drinks. This is not a staffing issue, this is a training issue because clearly there was a staff member waiting on us.TVI could not take the time to properly train the server that the salad comes out prior to the entree and not after the entree. Note that this was near closing time and the restaurant was mostly empty. Notified the server that we haven't received our salads and of course, she now brings the salads. Meanwhile, my prime rib is cooked rare and tough. I asked for a side of horseradish which I never received. The drinks still had not arrived and NO crab legs. The server forgot to order my crab legs. This is not a staffing issue this is a training issue. I took two bites of my tough prime rib and became so disgusted that I pushed the food away and didn't want anymore. Our drinks finally did come. This is a big time cue to the restaurant that a guest is completely dissatisfied and to remove the meal and comp it off the check. Obviously, staff is not properly trained as to how to handle this situation. I ended up taking it home and throwing it out. After, mind you, my trip to McDonald's for my dinner. Which by the way, came out hot and correct. They even remembered to put the salt and pepper in my bag that I asked for. We did get a free slice of pecan pie which I really hope doesn't put TVI out of business. If this was my establishment, that entire check would have been comped. I was prepared to spend big money there and I don't need anything for free, but when someone drives an hour to try your establishment out and the service is that egregious, you do what you can to save that customer and your reputation. Oh and by the way, you may be wondering why I didn't speak to the manager. There was no manager working that day. Now THAT, is a staffing issue. Where are the owners on a Saturday night with no management? Probably too busy doing something else to care about their customers. TVI is closed on Mondays. May I suggest bringing your staff in for a day of training. Proper service order, how to not forget items that guests order, time management, service pace, and most important, how to properly handle a dissatisfied guest.
Visited this past Friday for dinner. Ordered the clam chowder with the chicken dinner. Ate the clam chowder and took the chicken home. Got terrible food poisoning from the soup. The bartender wasn't very friendly or helpful with suggestions. She wasn't mean or anything, just her vibe seemed like she didn't really want to be there. Although watching her, she was very efficient with multi tasking. Maybe she could smile a little more and be more welcoming.
My wife and I have been to Tillmans many times in the past. Today was a very disappointing. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary. When I received my meal (Call cut) prime rib. When I tasted it the flavor was mainly fat tasting. I mentioned this and I was told by a man that of course it does it's beef. He then told me he could get me a different one to have in it's place. When they brought out supposively a different cut I believe that it was the same piece only that they had trimmed off all the fat. I didn't eat anymore of it at all. Then the waitress came back and asked me if I wanted a container to take it with us. I was fully charged for it even didn't take it with me. Very very upsetting time. There didn't seem to be any type of concern. I seen the response from the gentleman who commented on the prime rib. The second cut that they say they brought out looked exactly as my first cut other than having all the fat taken off of it. In reference to me putting it in my trunk. The reason I did this was that I was going to get FULLY charged even if I didn't take it with me. Very poor service 😞. I would appreciate a call from the owner. on anyone's behalf about my comments. I wouldn't recommend this place for prime rib.
Well, where to begin. Service was awful. Food was good. Glad they didn't shut off all the lights before we we're able to get out; it would have been terrible to get stuck there. The owner is very rude and had staff tearing down the buffet 30 mins after our reservation. If you want good food, but be treated like garbage, this is the place for you.
My husband and I live in the area and visited once. The food was unremarkable, but passably edible. Not what I would have wanted for the price, but we were there on a gift card we had been given, so not a huge loss. The dining room is very dated and it felt like we were eating in my Great Grandma's living room, I remember the carpet especially being kinda gross. We were seated at a very cramped table for two and mostly ignored. I would not recommend or visit again.
Very disappointing. It's such a beautiful place and I wanted my niece to see it and enjoy the prime rib. She is visiting here from Germany but it was nothing that I had told her about. We were the only people there today, the place was freezing and the rice and prime rib was nothing to ride home about. I asked the waitress to make sure the meal was hot, since we were freezing, the rice was luke warm and the meat looked and tasted like shoe leather. We had asked for medium. We drove over one hour to get there and I don't think I will ever take that trip again.
I ordered the fish fry to go on a Friday evening, it was 15$. Not only was it not worth 15$ but they also didn’t include one of my sides I requested. The beer battered fish fry was soggy and tasted weird almost like the fish was not good anymore or was frozen for a long time.... and the coleslaw was flavorless. The only good food item were the French fries, they were pretty good and tasted fresh. Other than that I would definitely not recommend the fish fry from here. Avanti the pizza place has better fish fry for a better price!
I was looking forward to a great meal and seafood buffet but was very disappointed. First off the host was a little rude. Not calling us when they started seating, then the food....ugh shrimp was mushy, scallops overcooked and no flavor, crab legs...soft, couldn't get meat out. Then there was the ck. They wouldn't give separate cks because of size of party, then they didn't want to take more then 2 debit cards....shouldn't they have told us that....very disappointed won't go back....coffee never offered...
We took my parents to dinner tonight for my dad's birthday. Very disappointed apps were good but my wife's filet mignon was supposed to be medium rare instead there were three dried out puces of meat. My mom's steak was so dry she had to saw it with a knife. They took the two meals off thank you for that but definitely not worth $158 and that was after the meals were deducted we'll just stay home and have a nice meal for a fraction of the price I appreciate you getting back and I understand that no one's perfect but when you go to a steakhouse that you specialize in in meat you would assume that the meat would be perfect every time that is why we came to your restaurant my parents live in lake placid they came all the way to visit us and we thought we'd treat them. Thank you for trying your best maybe someday we'll try again
Finally had an opportunity to try the newly opened restaurant. What a terrible meal and time. After a 1 hour wait for dinner most meals were so dried up they were not edible. The chicken dish a couple people ordered was passable but not as represented. Used dark meat when told a breast. The burger one person ordered was amazing. But my chicken parm and the pork dish were so tough you could not cut or eat. No management came out to see us. Just a very sweet waitress. They offers 50% off an inedible meal. Will not return. So disappointed as we were excited to have this option. .
