Great Wall is a long-standing Chinese restaurant popular for its large portions, fast service, and friendly staff, especially Wei. Many customers have been going for decades. A common complaint is the inconsistency in food quality and that they only accept cash.

Always good food. My last experience, the food was bland. I contacted the owner and they took care of the issue right. Will still order food from them.
My kids and I absolutely LOVE Great Wall. We probably order takeout once a week. The staff is awesome and friendly and the food is always hot and delicious.
Reading these reviews, some of these people are delusional. The family/people that run this establishment are phenomenal and serve the best chinese food around. My girlfriend is a vegan and always find something to try here and raves about it still. 5/5 Amazing food, amazing service.
Really enjoy the food here, the portions and prices can’t be beat!
Great food, fast service friendly staff, and reasonably priced. One of only two places in Rochester that makes Kung Pao chicken correctly. Keep up the great work!
Food was tasty! Had custom items ordered and they did a great job. Even got extra fortune cookies!
Been going here since they opened like 15 years ago. Always great food and little waiting. How can any food be so consistent? Lol
The food is always very fresh with a short wait time. Have gone here plenty of times and have never had a bad experience with the food or people
The food is excellent and the owners are very nice and if you’re meal does reach you’re standers they take care of it and are super understanding
I've lived here for 17yrs in the Greece area and had Chinese food all over Western and Central NY and I can proudly say that the Great Wall in Hilton, has the BEST food around. The only down side is they don't accept cards. But I promise it's worth it. They are all wonderfully nice and kind and the food just TASTE. SOOOOOO. GOOD! Should I ever leave Monroe county more permanently, I will still do whatever I can to get my hands on food from this place!
Great food, fast and friendly service. Have enjoyed eating take-out from their establishment for many years. Anytime I order Chinese food when I'm home, it from the Great Wall. I'm glad to see that their facility is open to serve the public through these trying times. Never a bad meal served.

I dont understand how this place isnt at least a 4.5 at least. I can confidently say this place is highly underated for the quality of food they deliver. First time trying was greeted with smiles and friendly conversation. The smell was amazing and very enticing upon entry. Rich smell of cashew and those delicious fried wings filled the entire eating area 🤤 i ordered 3 orders of teriyaki chicken (my favorite) and was beyound impressed. Crispy, moist, flavorful and i personally preffer the dry rub over soaked in sauce. I also ordered an additional egg roll, sesame combination plate w pork fried rice, and wonton soup. Everything was at least a 4.4 or higher imo. Wonton was super flavorful and plentiful. Seseme chicken was tasty even after being late to pick up and having it sit. Pork fried rice was a little disappointing but still very good (im picky and I understand this) . Eggroll was standard. Overall the teriyaki chicken stole the show. I will continue to travel 3 towns over for the chicken on a stick alone. These 1 star review bombs are highly unjustified and mostly due to only accepting cash. Come prepared and its not an issue. Hope this was insightful 🙏
I remember when they first opened. The dumplings have changed a little but they are still worth the trip. This place is an under-appreciated gem in Hilton (I know what that’s like lol)
Been coming here for decades... Food is as good as always. I've always had good service, and on the rare occasion there was a mistake, they are quick to help and fix it. Plenty of places in town don't take credit cards, so I don't understand the outrage in some of the reviews.
I wish I got the name of the woman who took my order tonight. She went above and beyond. Not everyone is perfect especially in the food service business but she nailed it. I appreciate her. Food was great as usual. Will support The Great Wall always.
Been eating at Great Wall for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Food is always good, portions are big, and food always comes out fast, fresh and hot. Love the lo mein, Singapore noodles and Shrimp with Garlic Sauce. And Wei is always a delight!
I live right across the street so their location is very convenient. Some customers complain that they don't deliver and they only accept cash, which I can understand being a hassle. But once you know these things it shouldn't be a problem in the future. I usually order the same thing so my order is always exactly the way I want it. The young people who work there are super nice and friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you're happy. The prices are good too, at least for the stuff I get. I usually get food from here once a week.

Some of the best Chinese food I've had around Rochester. Service is always super fast and friendly. I've been a customer since they opened and my order has always been correct and the food always tasty. Only 4 stars though since they don't take credit cards...
Good food, friendly staff, decent atmosphere. I live down the street so it's convenient as well, just wish they accepted cards because having to get cash out when I want it is vaguely frustrating, but worth it!
Authentic Chinese food. Extensive menu. Food is well prepared and tasty. I recommend the Pepper steak w/onions. While waiting for takeout, I noticed some clutter that is within eyeshot. The restaurant could do well with some updated furnishings.
Been wanting to try this restaurant for some time now. I ordered fried chicken(4pieces) which comes alone no rice and garlic sauce which is really good. For the price it should include atleast rice like all other Chinese restaurants. Fried crab sticks which were really tasty and went well with the garlic sauce from the chicken. Crab lo mein I took a star away bc there were hardly no crab pieces I counted about 3/4 pieces and I got a PT. Same with my shrimp egg roll no shrimp inside. Also in my order was general tso’s chicken which my family enjoy with their pork egg rolls. I would return everything was tasty I would just advise to put more crab and shrimp in since I’m paying extra for that seafood option.upsetting they only take cash luckily I had cash on me that day.

Stopped by for lunch. Dumplings i thought were nothing special. I did enjoy the general tso chicken and wonton soup. Everything is to but you can sit down to eat . There are 8 tables, atm machine and bottle drinks.
01/02/23: The Friday night before New Year's, we decided we were hungry for Chinese food. After checking with at least a dozen Chinese restaurants in and around our area, and learning that none of them were offering dine-in seating, we called Great Wall restaurant in Hilton and were told they offered dine-in seating without full service. That was good enough for us, and it turned out to be a great experience. The gentleman who took our orders was so courteous, polite, and accommodating to us during our dinner there. Really excellent service. The food was served up quick, hot, and was very tasty. Our serving portions of Moo goo gai pan and sweet & sour pork were surprisingly large and more than enough food for each of us. Our two dinners with beverages totaled approximately $24. Based on our first dinning experience here, we would definitely dine here again. UPDATE 6/05/23: We stopped at Great Wall restaurant again for dinner on 6/03/23. They don't have full dining service yet, but you can eat your dinner in the dining room just the same. This was our second visit here and it went as well as our first visit several months ago. The man behind the counter who took our order this time was the same person who took our order on our last visit, and he was just as friendly, courteous, and accommodating this visit as he was during that last visit. Our food this time (our favorites Moo Goo Gai Pan and Sweet & Sour Pork) was served up fairly quickly. The portions were very generous and served VERY hot! In fact, the portions were so large, we had enough food left over for another meal. The food tasted delicious, and our host behind the counter made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal in the dining room. We saw a steady stream of take-out orders being picked up during our dinner there. Honestly, our dinner went as well as expected. There were no problems, and absolutely no complaints about the food or the way we were treated during our visit. Our two meals with sodas totaled a little over $26 before tax. I realize that everyone can have a bad experience at a restaurant. Based on our personal experiences during both visits to Great Wall, the food and portion sizes, we'll eat here again, and would recommend it. Thanks for reading this review.
I order from here all the time and 99.9% of the time, the food is Great. If they are very busy the food will more than likely not be as good, over cooked or very greasy. Again, I love this Place, 99.99999% of the time the food is Great the one MAJOR complaint I have is that they are very rude on the phone, both the son and daughter. I overlook it because they have good food and they are the only place in Hilton for Chinese but they really need to work on their personal communication phone skills. They are very pleasant when you are in the store but very rude when you call. Again, the food is very good.

It's been about a year since we last had their Chinese take-out. Mostly things tasted the same, but something was off with some of the crab sticks. The taste was inconsistent, and the texture was off-putting. Hopefully, they will do a better job with having fresher ingredients.
These owners/family only except cash for pmt. I suspect it's to dodge taxes. But who knows. They can be rude on the phone too. The food.. meh, good if you dont want to cook and the portions have gotten much smaller. They argue too. I feel bad for the young lady.. thanks. Here is a pizza🍕 no charge.
I have been here many times but it seems since the kids took over the food is not the same. Won ton soup bland not much flavor and hubby had sesame chicken with pork fried rice and the sauce for the chicken was gross I don't know what they did to it. Not going back, and the one in Hamlin is no longer open
These guys had great food, they stopped giving good food about a year ago or so… the thing that stopped me from ordering was this past summer, I called to order and someone answered and hung up, I thought it was a mistake and called back and it happened again, I waited a minute and called the 3rd time… the same guy who is always there answered and yelled “can’t you take a hint” and slammed the phone down again! I didn’t understand why he would do that but it was clearly his voice and I double checked the number dialed… so I waited 5 more minutes and called the 4th and last time at which point he answered, I asked what his issue was and he completely denied doing it, when I told him I’ve got phone record of the call out dialing his number he said “do you want to order or not?” I said NOPE and I won’t go back. The lady who owns the place is nice but this guy needs a long vacation
We've been coming here for years because if you want Chinese food, this is it. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. They don't deliver. The lack of any competition seems to have driven the quality way down. We ordered recently and ended up throwing most of it out. Chicken fried rice was rice with pieces of what appeared to be uncooked or undercooked chicken and nothing else, not even sure it was fried.
The food is very inconsistent of late. It's to bad too since we live less than a mile away. Hamlin food is more consistantly good. Suggest they check on the customer's requests, can't even get extra sauce on your order to moisten the rice. Food is very dry!!
The food here is okay. If you really love your fried rice the. Stay away. On occasion I have found cold spots in the rice which SHOULD NOT HAPPEN! The staff could be friendlier. The singapore noodles are awful and just tastes like chicken broth with spices. Their chicken on a stick seems to be all fat and hardly edible. Their egg roll are somewhat decent but if ordered, request them well done. It breaks my heart, as a kid I loved this place, but unfortunately I cannot see myself spending money here anymore.

Don't waste your time nor your money.. Food is incredibly inconsistent, sometimes really good but mostly poor, I would say 25-75% respectively. I have noticed that when the parents are there is when I get good food, the kids working there have horrible attitudes when they are there alone. I was told a 1.5 hour wait after placing an order with a young man that was incredibly rude....I will not be going back.
Egg foo young over cooked dry and crunchy Lomein noodles were mush Wonton egg drop soup was okay. Food in past has been great. This time maybe new cook. Will try elsewhere next
rip off, i chose this place cuz i wanted cheap chinese food. big mistake. all the prices online are way wrong. they've inflated the price to the point where it's more expensive than a classy asian restaurant. they also refused to print out an itemized receipt, so figuring out what the items cost was a nightmare. dont go here. if you want cheap, go to similar places in other towns. if you want good, you can hit up nice asian joints and itll probably be cheaper.
Food is good, but the customer service is terrible, and the "Great Win" restaurant on ridge road has basically the same exact food as they do. The main difference is "Great Wall" charged us for pork fried rice AND normal rice because the person making the order didn't understand we didn't order both. "Great Win" never would do that. The people at "Great Wall" don't speak English very well, and insist that they are in the right every time they mess an order up.
This my first time ordering from Great Wall in Hilton. I have to say this was the worst pork fried rice I’ve ever had. The sesame chicken might get 2 stars. Will never order from here again
called 3 times got hung up on all three times, was told there was a 2 hour wait. had my bf call. he got service i was not rude. will never order again if you dont want my money.
WORST fried rice i have ever had. So bland. Dumplings i couldnt even give a 1 star. I thought at first it was a joke. My first time ordering there and definitely my last. Was the biggest waste of money. I knew i should have went to mc donalds instead. So sad that this is the only chinese in Hilton
We will never go back... They got so cheap that it ruined the food.. My lo mein was half raw carrots..
DONT ever serve me food you have cooked in old oil you can definitely tell the difference I will never return. I will only go to Hamlin & yummy house on Dewey ave now!
Waited 45 mins for a pick up on a thursday. Went there to go pick up food, and the food was not finished. Then was told they only take cash , and checks. Which , I was never told beforehand. Now I waited 45 mins for food that I cant get when I have a hungry child at home. Thanks a lot !
The chicken and mushroom is not edible, the strips of chicken looks like the skin, I've gotten it several times and it never looked like this , no dinner tonight, very disapointed
It's 2023. Not too many people carry cash these days. Would make life so much easier if they took cards. But they sure point out their ATM, which is fees galore. Get with the times Great Wall. I'm sure you would have more sales if you took cards. And the food isn't always up to par either. Many Chinese food places out there. I'll go somewhere else, that does accept my card to pay for my food. Toodles.
Don't. Just don't. Drive to ANYwhere else. The food is not good. The beef and broccoli was made with steak ums, the sesame chicken was soggy and flavorless, the egg rolls were soggy, there was no salt in the wonton soup broth, no sweet & sour sauce for the sweet & sour chicken, the fried rice isn't fried, it's just fresh cooked white rice with a splash of msg. It's not fried, there are no vegetables in it. The worst customer service ever. The owner and cooks and phone guy are rude and they won't give you missing items that they charged you for but they forgot to include and it's your fault. Cash only, but they don't tell you when you order and it's not on the menu. And they don't know where there's an ATM. Just don't.
That’s sesame chicken just sitting next to the deep fryer. They all of a sudden only take cash and as I had to scrounge change I was short $.10. The nice man advised me there was an atm. I was about to cancel my order but it was already started. Don’t waste your time here.

Ordered takeout. Last few times I’ve been there food has been inconsistent and mediocre at best. This time Pu pu platter missing items and mostly burnt ( again) Soup flavorless . I’ll travel 5 miles down the road from now on.
So where do I start? The person who answered the phone was incredibly rude. After he took my order, I heard 15 or 20 minutes, and he literally hung up on me. They never gave me a total or told me that they only take cash. Then I tried to call back a little while later to add an item that I forgot, I got hung up on twice. The food was not the best, The only positive thing that I will say is that the boneless spare ribs were not covered in sauce. However, I did not order white rice I ordered shrimp fried rice. I did not get shrimp fried rice. Honestly, I will absolutely never go back to this place again. The gentleman who answered the phone was incredibly rude, and the food was really just not good. I'm very generous with the one star. You might as well just go to Chef King on Dewey because they're 10 times better.
I've gotta say, I've been coming here since they opened and I've never really had an issue, except maybe once in awhile they forgot to put rice in the pick up order. (We've always placed a big order for 4 people) You call to let them know, and you can pick it up on the next order you place. The only other issue was you couldn't get through on the phone line. After trying to call a few times we gave up. We didn't go in to order, because we had moved out of Hilton, so it wasn't right around the corner anymore. When I came into Rochester after moving to Florida, I always ordered from here. Gotta say, after placing an order late in the evening a few days ago and then having my daughter pick it up for me, by the time I got my food they were closed. I always get the steamed mixed vegetable (minus the green peppers and mushrooms due to an allergy) w/ chicken and shrimp. When I went to eat it, it had green peppers and mushrooms in it. I called the next day, unfortunately I had other things to do and didn't contact him till later at night, and he said, there is nothing I can do since you didn't call the night of. I explained that they were closed. He knows my family and my nephew, and he still wouldn't replace my order. I told him, I'm sorry to hear that, but I will NEVER order from here again. EVER. It's the principal of the matter. By the looks of the reviews I just read, I'm not the only one having bad service. It's a shame, we've enjoyed it here for years. Oh well. Times are changing!!
This Chinese place great wall in hilton ny. I am vert disappointed on what I ended up with when I got it home I ordered by phone for my husband and I E27 Sesseme chicken meal. 1No broccoli 2 No juice under the chicken there's always been juice under the chicken the chicken was so dry. 3 the rice was so dry and looked like yesterday's rice yuck. Ive gone before and for sure this will be our last spending over 30 dollars and getting it home and trying to eat it we gave up and put it in the fridge well it looked worse the 2nd time and threw it away. When the daughter took over everything went down hill from there. It was great loved it when your parents were in charge. So don't call me I forgot u did one other time and said our next meals on us wish I would of remembered now I'm out another 30 dollars. We're all done with your place I see your review are bad u have others that were unhappy also. U need to go back to your parents way or u won't last much longer sorry to say that but it's true.
Placed an order for 2 Szechuan chicken spicy combos. It was the worst Chinese take out I’ve had in years. It was ONLY onions and peppers with very little chicken and no flavor !! The eggs rolls were equally as bad. I’ve been recommending this place to everyone . Now I’ll tell them not to order from there!!
Every so often this place never picks up the phone. Like fix your phone system if your constantly having issues. I never seen any other take out place be like this! its ridiculous! If wasn;t that your the only chinese resturant in Hilton I would not order from you anymore. The food is not that good either again if there were other options in Hilton this place would shut down!
