Ba Le Sandwich Shop is known for its affordable and delicious banh mi, especially the BBQ pork. Customers praise the fresh bread and generous fillings, though some find the filling inconsistent. Cash only and service can be inconsistent.

I love this small family owned place. They bake their bread fresh daily and make their deli meats and pate in house. I like their number one and number two but I also really like their bbq pork sandwich. I also love the viet coffee, fresh sugar cane drink and avocado smoothie. This is my go to place for a simple casual fresh breakfast/lunch during these hard times! FYI, if you buy 5 sandwiches, you get a 6th free! Great for families! ❤️
Really good sandwiches and the best French bread anywhere. Right amount of crunch and still chewy. Expect crumbs in your lap if you eat in the car. Iced coffee is bomb too. All sandwich shops should buy their bread here.
Best BBQ pork sandwich in town. They don't use the highest quality cuts but they marinate it in the sweet red sauce that gives it a more delicious flavor even when compared to higher end shops like Mr. Baguette.
Always come here for Vietnamese food because their quality is pretty good, and it has very good prices. Their chicken pie is very delicious that I recommended for lunch or snack because it is $1.50 each. Also, their drinks like milk tea and orange juice is good for breakfast so I recommenced people to come here for quick bite.
Woowee! I found a Banh Mi restaurant that actually knows how to make legit Vietnamese sandwiches. They don't cheat you on the meats and veggies or give you mostly bread. Eating their sandwiches does not leave a guilty and greasy feeling. I recommend their BBQ pork sandwiches or cold cuts. While you're at it, they have great Vietnamese iced coffee (sweet and strong). They accept CASH only.
Each year we come to the US and stay in LA, we make a point to visit this shop. The food and drinks are wonderful and the staff is always so friendly and kind even when we make a mistake with the order. Great place!!!
Outstanding baguette, shatteringly crisp crust, generous helpings of banh mi fillings, with well-marinated meats. Highly recommend
Ba Le is not only tied for my favorite overall bahn mi spots, it has THE BEST vegetarian bahn mi (14. bahn mi chay). While most places offer a meat substitute like “vegetarian ham” Ba Le makes a delicious sautéed tofu with veggies. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
The bbq beef on a warm french roll is a must try. Fish cake sandwich for the pescatarian. The vegetable bang mi with everything on it for the vegetarian. Less than $5 per sandwich you should just try them all! Don’t forget the $2 boba drinks.
Still one of our favorite Vietnamese sandwich stops. The banh mi is terrific, so are the spring and egg rolls! Love the coffee, too. So strong and so good.
Ordered a tray of summer rolls (shrimp with avocado and BBQ pork) for nurses week and my coworkers loved them! The tray was empty before the day was even over. Their sandwiches are also great! They make their bread in-house so it's fresh everyday. Friendly service on top of great food and great prices 👍🏼.
I love this little sandwich place! The prices are quite reasonable and there is a huge selection. My favorite sandwich is the Special Sandwich (#2). I always get with the veggies on the side as I don't like my sandwich getting soggy. Parking is sometimes hard to find but so worth it! They are also cash only so please be mindful before you get here. Though there is a Chase bank in the same plaza where they are located.
So delicious! I always order a few extra for later. Crisp and soft bread I usually get the tofu and the chicken they have just the right amount of meat an sour veggies and fresh veggies. Fresh sugar cane juice is amazing! Very friendly staff quick service I will be back.
Bread is soft yet crunchy and won't hurt your mouth like other baguette places. This place has been around for at least 20 years and food quality is still superb! Parking can be difficult to find since it is sharing with a Starbucks. I recommend the special #2 with additional fried eggs.
This is one of my fave banh min spots. The price is good and I always get the number 1 cold cure sandwich and sometimes their pandan bread. Cash only.
Our favourite bahn mi sandwich shop for years. The perfect combination of protein, marinated veggies and freshly made baguettes. We also often pick up flan and vietnamese style coffee bc they are that good. Highly recommended.
Have been coming to this place regularly in the past 10 years. Small place, really good banh mi and spring roll and.... Basically everything. Good price. They made their bread in house and daily; Crispy and light, and perfect for banh mi. Spring rolls are light and refreshing. Vietnamese coffee is strong.
Ba Le can not and should not be missed for an outstanding Banh Mi at a great price served by the sweetest staff! I stopped by not knowing what the menu items were since the menu inside the restaurant has the Vietnamese names. SO I asked which was just the "pork belly" sandwich and the girls informed me of the #12, so the #12 is what I ordered! And for only $7?? I was afraid the sandwich would be tiny but wow this thing is bigger than most sandwiches you'll find at the likes of subway or other gross chain spots. The bread was so light but crispy and crunchy. The pickled veggies were so crunchy and flavored nicely while the fresh veggies were so, well, fresh! The pickled jalapenos weren't too spicy either. There was plenty of thinly sliced but flavorful and tender pork with a good spread of mayo and the pate. It all fit perfectly together and it was such a delicious sandwich
I could not eat a lot of the meat from this meal but it was good and soft. It was ok for my digestive system. I could not finish it. Lately I noticed i need to eat more veggies. I appreciate the service here 🙏.
This is my go to for banh mis because I prefer easily chewable baguettes 😂. One of my biggest complaints with banh mis is how tired my jaw gets after eating one but I rarely have that problem here. I’ve had most of their menu but I really like the pate, nem nuong, and bbq pork/beef. They also sell other snacks and desserts. They only accept cash. There’s no seating inside. They’re located inside the Alhambra plaza so they share a parking lot with Starbucks and Asia supermarket so parking can be a pain sometimes.
Delicious banh mi & so cheap! $4 for a big sandwich!! Definitely coming back for more. Update: tried more dishes. Yummm so good! $4 for spring rolls & $6 for chicken rice!! So cheap & delish!
The banh mi was really skimpy on the inside. It’s all about balance and although the bread is fresh and perfect, it was most of the sandwich. I wish there was a more meat, but it was also low on the pickled vegetables! Pate flavor was great though.
This is one of the best Vietnamese sandwich shops in Los Angeles county, offering up freshly made food items and drinks. Everything tasted authentic and flavorful. This is where I go for lunch and a quick snack. BTW, they only accept cash.

Delicious banh mi. Crispy bread, they give you a good amount of pate and mayonnaise. Their desserts are also great. Cash only, worth the drive from los angeles.
Ba Le sandwiches are so much better in taste and quality then Lee’s sandwiches. Ba Le fills sandwiches with meat. ( Where Lees barely puts some in there’s) . We usually get BBQ Pork with a fried egg added. Bread is always soft and taste good. Yum! you can’t go wrong. It’s not a dine in place. But all sorts of other goodies to choose from while you wait. Shrimp rolls &spring rolls- delicious too. canned sodas, chips, deserts to go. My husband and I have been coming here for over 7 years.
This is my favorite Bondi place in the San Gabriel Valley. I would get this multiple times a week if I was a little closer. It’s cash only but the prices are extremely reasonable, especially in 2024. my go to is the barbecue pork. My wife gets the pork belly and adds barbecue pork. Also, I really like the green pandan bread they sell. There are no seats or anything. It’s just a takeout place but they do a great sandwich. The bread is baked fresh and it’s not stale. The meat is good. The veggies are good. I definitely recommend.

The employees are friendly, and helpful. I ordered the special and the pork belly sandwich with an Avacado shake. The special, was tasty and the avocado shake was on point. I'm going back for the those two. The pork belly didnt taste to fresh. The service was fast. It's dark in there and I like that there is only 4 ppl at a time allowed in.
Food: 4/5 stars I can't say they're the best since there are so many good choices around here. I am so blessed when it comes to VN food in this area. The taste will hold its own to any other sandwich places. That's a pretty tall order right there for this neighborhood. Atmosphere: 3/5 stars Nothing to dream about. Hole in wall with counter for ordering. To go only. But hey, it's great for grab and run when you don't have time. Service: 4/5 stars Order at counter and pay for food. The women there were very helpful and make sure you know they'll take care of your order. Expense: 5/5 stars Cheap. Cheap. Cheap. Did I mention cheap? I did? Well it's cheap (price wise not quality wise), but cash only. Return: 5/5 stars Solid and cheap VN sandwiches, coffee, juices, side dishes; what else can you ask for? No, don't answer that... Just come and enjoy the food. Return? Do you have to ask? ;)
Ba Le makes one of the better Ban mi sandwiches in the San Gabriel Valley, and it is because of the higher quality baguettes they use. I find some of their pickled vegetables a little lacking, but their rest of the ingredients used is well put together. In addition, they do put just enough of their manonnaise spread to make a very tasty sandwich. At $3.50 for their basic and 4 bucks for a Dac Biet, they are exemplary for a fabulous cheap eats. There are other fillings such as chicken, pork, and beef too. Their fried egg rolls are made well, but lack much flavor. There are many other places that do a better job. Ba Le is a Vietnamese deli, thus you will find many other traditional eats here too. For sweet coffee lovers they also make a delicious Cafe su dá. Starbucks, just outside the parking lot, should be very jealous. Everything is Cash Only, and there is no restroom nor tables. They are strictly a grab and go joint. P.S. excellent play on a creative name.
Food: I got three banh mi bo la lot (beef rolled with betel leaves) with separated veggies so the banh mi don't get soggy. Nice flavor of the beef and peanuts. Service: Cash only shop at this time in age. Friendly cashiers and greeted me with a smile. Atmosphere: a small banh mi shop, not a place to sit and eat -- mainly order and togo shop
Really good sandwich with decent coffee is a good way to enjoy an early Sunday afternoon. ITEM'S ORDERED: Chicken banh mi w/ egg added Vietnamese Coffee TASTE: I've had a fair amount of banh mi & this was one of the better ones. Bread & veggies were fresh, chicken was tasty & a solid portion of it as well. Decided to add egg which just made it even more of a meal. I enjoyed how it wasn't just drenched in mayo, but rather had the right amount & went well with the light soy sauce flavor. Vietnamese Coffee was pretty decent. Not the best I've had but also not the worst. Really just a little too weak of a coffee flavor for me, but imagine most would be fine with it. SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING: Service was friendly & it wasn't too difficult ordering in English as I've noticed at other places. They are cash only FYI. They are located in right off Atlantic & Valley in the Starbucks/Chase plaza. Pretty easy to find a parking spot but just FYI sometimes really busy because the Starbucks drive thru. There's so many different banh mi places around but I'll say I was impressed enough with this one so I'd go back here.
Grilled pork banh mi has a different flavor due to the thinly sliced chilled onions and the bigger peanut crumbs they use. Never had banh mi with onions before. Bread, meat, veggies are thumbs up.

Started getting banh mi here in the late 90’s. Their bread is always excellent. Better than other SGV places I know The quantity and quality of filling varies some but no complaints 80% of the time Like everywhere prices have gone up quite a lot in the last four years Still an excellent sandwich value Try it if you haven’t

Overall: 3.3/5 (take out) We came on a Saturday around 4:30 PM so it wasn't busy. We were craving banh mi so we did the buy 5 get 1 free sandwich deal. We wanted la lot but they didn't have anymore. The sandwiches came out pretty quickly too but there's a clear difference between which ones are good and which ones are bad. Ba Le Special - Dac Biet ($7.50): This was clearly their best sandwich. Everything was really good and tasty. BBQ Pork ($7): This was a close second. The pork came with peanuts, green onion, & house sauce which made it so flavorful and different from any other BBQ pork we've tried. BBQ Beef ($7.50): This was okay. It was more dry and less flavorful than BBQ pork even though it had the same marinade. Pork Belly - Ba Chi ($6.50): This was the third best banh mi. The pork belly was really thin and looks like xa xiu. Sweet Meat - Xiu Mai ($6): The sweet meat was so gross. The texture was like baby food so I can see why they call it the "Asian Sloppy Joe". We only took 2 bites. Pork Lemongrass Sausage ($7): The sausage was flavorless. It's the 2nd worse one. Would not recommend either. Crispy Chicken Jerky ($8 for 4 oz): Not a fan of the texture. Flavor is meh.
The difference between this spot and the competition (Bahn Mi) it's the BBQ beef/pork sandwich which is very good. Parking is plenty and the prices are cheap of course.

Cash only. Banh mi is okay, spring roll is good , good price. Coffee not really my taste. Nice people.

Prices have doubled in a few years. It's $8 for a banh mi now. And the women who work there are so rude. Not a greeting or smile in the dozens of times I've been there to support their business.
Warning ⚠️ Be aware! They charged me different prices every time I came, I'm aware that there's a lady, I believe she's the owner did charged me less than the others. So I think the others who work there are trying to steal the extra money for their own pocket, I hope the owner reads my review and does something about it. Just a little advice, don't buy anything that is not priced or they will say whatever the price they want.
Sandwiches and food are perfect except the customer service is nonexistent to sub par. The girls who work the front counter wouldn't know customer service if it slapped them across the face. The medium build Asian girl in the mornings; Asian girl with glasses; and short Asian girl all have a mean scowl as soon as you enter the store. They will even talk about you as if you're not standing in front of them. I usually spend $70-$100 for togo for family and friends. They had the nerve to serve another customer who was behind me first. I go to this shop because my uncle Ngo's relative is part owner of this place. I am a manager of a large retailer and service like this would result in firing. Make these girls clean in the back for 6 months until they learn customer service. They speak a little broken English and act like they own the world. I've shopped here over 10 times; but probably won't be back. There's Viet sandwich shops all over the 626 within blocks of this place. Saigon by San Gabriel Blvd is way better.
Ba Le has been our favorite sandwich shop for 10+ years. However, when we opened our three barbecue pork sandwiches with everything on it, we were surprised to see very little pickled daikon, parsley or peanut crumble, but tasted the over-powering white onions and not much more. The pork was bland and the rolls seemed to be slightly smaller and spongy in spite of the prices increasing over the years. It's a big disappointment and if they don't return to their original proportions, we'll have to find another shop.

Ordered chicken sandwiches and bread tasted not fresh and chicken was big pieces with no flavor. Quality and customer service are going down while the price going up :( Sad as it was out go to Vietnamese sandwich place!
The food was good, but the Vietnamese guy at the front desk had a bad attitude — he looked like he was at a funeral.”
Called about 6 times never answered, I called during business hours too , will never eat here again
When I came it weren’t busy. Cashier was just stood there and watch t.v service was extremely slow. Sandwich weren’t the best lack of flavor. Penny worth was just average. I asked for recommendations cashiers responds were it depends on what I like because everyone different. Cashiers too busy communicating with each other about non senses about what they are instead of helping customers. Not as attentive as any other banh mi shops in o.c. If this shop were to be in o.c. Can’t compete with thh, or banh mi Saigon
Poor communication skills. I had asked if they still had meat ball rolls they said yes. But charged me for a full on plate dish. Told them this is not what I ordered and they said i asked for that. Charged and given something didn't order. Never recommending this place or coming to this place. First and last time I go there.
Really mid banh mi in the area. Got a dac biet w extra pate for like 11 bucks and a side of ATTITUDE and it’s cash only.
Worse tuna sandwich ever. Low quality tuna with after taste. Nothing vietnamese just lettuce tomato. After a bite and a half I tossed it in the garbage.
