Ok, I had to make a comment about their dumplings. It was THE most authentic and delicious Korean mandu i’ve ever had. Most korean food in southern california feels too salty or too sweet without complex flavor. This one tasted exactly the same as the Chang Hwa Dang we had in Seoul, Jongro. We ended up buying 20 frozen kimchi mandu(picture) and they taste just as perfect! Over the moon to find the BEST AUTHENTIC KOREAN food!!! BEST BEST BEST~~~!!!

This is my go-to mandu/Korean dumpling place, and everytime I come here it's always delicious and consistent. The mandu is soo crispy and light, paired well with the dipping sauce, and the tteokbokki is chewy and the perfect amount of spice with cheese. Kimchi fried rice is also one of my faves here. The prices are reasonable and service is fast. Parking is free with validation for lunch hours!

Absolutely enjoyed this restaurant. Every time I have come it has been slow. However they do get a good amount of pick up orders. Delicious Mandu or dumplings. I ordered shrimp and sweet pork mandu. They were pan fried and so good. I’ve also had their kimchi mandu. You get some yellow pickled daikon and a container of water, but they also offer soft drinks. Some of their tables are really cute. They have butterflies. They have a central communal table and some booths as well. Usually they play really good K-pop but since there aren’t usually many customers eating in they really don’t have much to offer if you’re looking for great ambiance. Meter parking and parking in a structure available. The structure is underneath the shopping center.

CHD was a great lunch experience! Service was quick and attentive. The interior is clean and well decorated. Parking underneath is convenient, although on weekends it’s still $5 after validation. The food was all very good. The menu is full of well-executed classics. Tons of kimchi flavor in the fried rice, and the Mandu were crispy and came with a selection of fun dipping sauces. The tteokbokki was very good, with cheese melted into the sauce and perfectly chewy rice cakes. I really enjoyed eating here and will probably return soon!

5/5! The pork and chicken was great and the servers served us until it was closed. Don’t skip out on this place, it’s 100.

Chang Hwa Dang is my first time eating at a restaurant in LA that specializes in Mandu (Korean dumplings). After hearing about how famous it is in Korea (and even featured in Hotel Del Luna Kdrama), I knew I had to try it. And it did not disappoint. This restaurant gave me a great impression of eating mandu in a restaurant, which I usually don't eat because I'm more focused on heavier stuff like Korean bbq. I suggest getting the Mixed Mandu, which is their special menu selection. It comes with various selections of mandu from kimchi mandu to their famous beef bulgogi mandu. The skin is perfect in its chewiness and the crispiness of the pan fry. It's some of the best mandu I've had. And I also liked their kimchi fried rice and tteok-bokki (spicy rice cakes), which are also some of the popular items in this restaurant. Overall, I would highly recommend CHD. It takes mandu eating experience to a new level. The ambience is nice here and the service is great. I shot a video of my experience at CHD, which you can find on my YouTube channel called Rockstar Eater.

This place seems a bit underrated! The restaurant didn't have many people there on a Saturday afternoon, but I was thoroughly pleased by the food. My friend and I ordered the rose tteokbokki and the mandu sampler, and we enjoyed both dishes! The rose tteokbokki was particularly unique and I loved how creamy and cheesy it was. I'm not in Koreatown often anymore, but I would definitely consider returning here for whenever I do visit ktown again. The prices are very reasonable and the food is good! Very convenient for a party of two.

Mhmm mmm! Such a fantastic Korean culinary experience. Hidden gem! Thank goodness we didn’t give pushback regarding no substitutions. The chef knows best indeed.

Food - 4.75/5 1. Mandu Sampler - $15 for 10 dumplings (jalapeño, shrimp, pork aka standard, galbi, kimchi). What a steal! We especially loved the kimchi (smoky, crisp, flavorful) and the shrimp (plump, juicy paired with pork). The mandu were wrapped in two ways and were crisp. If, however, you do not like pan fried mandu, this dish is not your cup of tea (they do have steamed option). The mandu comes with many sauce options - we liked the classic soy sauce the best. 2. Kimchi fried rice - $14 and comes with classic fried egg, bacon, corn, etc. Pro tip: mix more of the gochugang sauce into your rice if you like more saucy rice! Ambiance - 5/5 Chic decor, exposed brick, hanging chandeliers, white tiles, wooden booths. Very atypical for ktown but refreshingly clean and elegant. Service - 5/5 Waitresses were quick, attentive, and adept at answering questions. Other notes: 1. Parking - there is street parking (can be difficult to find) and a parking lot is located in the same plaza (after validation, $5). 2. Family friendly. Working professionals friendly (in terms of speedy service).

Truly the BEST mandu I’ve ever had!!! As good, if not better than many mandu I’ve eaten in Korea. All the fillings are flavor and texture sensations, and the fried dumplings have the perfect crisp. I recommend ordering the sampler, because it’s nearly impossible for me to say which is best. Their tteokbokki and kimchi fried rice are outstanding as well. The space is no-frills but very clean, and the service is quick and friendly. The only way CHD could be better is if they were open Sunday and served beer.

This place felt familiar right away—it reminded me of restaurants back in Korea. The meat and kimchi dumplings were both really tasty, but I wouldn’t recommend the veggie ones—the filling was too skimpy. I also tried the seasonal cold jjolmyeon, and it was delicious! The veggies were fresh, the portion was just right, and the space was clean. The only downside was the parking situation—not really the restaurant’s fault, but the plaza’s system. Even though the posted parking rules (like in my photo) seemed reasonable, once you drive in, the attendants at the entrance block access and say valet is mandatory—$20 no matter what. I ended up parking on the street instead. I almost reported it because it felt unfair, but I let it go since I was traveling. Still, it’s been bugging me. Just something to keep in mind if you visit!

Like a chain restaurant where things seem precise, modernized. Simple and decent tasting. Great quick casual dine-in. We weren't expecting much. It's not the best. Does not come with banchon. But quick, simple, hits the spot for a not so greasy/overwhelming spot. - $14.99 Mandu Sampler (10 variety pieces). I only liked the pork, and kim chi one. - $13.99 Kim Chi Fried Rice. Decent. Nothing extraordinary but SO liked it a lot. - $13.99 Spicy Cold Noodles. Not mild. And no way to make it less spicy. Was originally going to order the Kim chi cold noodle soup, but it's seasonal to summer only now. Parking: A) Street meter $1 per hour. B) Parking rates: (only validation accepted) - Mon-Fri 11am-2pm: 2 HOURS FREE WITH dine in of $20min purchase). Take out only from honeymee, boo's, 85degree bakery has 30min free pick up but will be $20 after. - Weekend? 10am-3pm: 30min free pick up to go. 31min-2hours is $3, with additional $1.50 for each 30min more. 3pm-12am: 30min free pick up to go. 31min-3hours is $5 with additional $1.50 for every 30min more. $20 MAX/Full Day rate. Sample plaza with other restaurants, desserts, and bar/activities.

Food is five stars. The flavor, the taste, the quality. They sell really great Mandu here, I had the chicken Mandu and the rose ttoekboki which was so good - they had cheese and sausage in it and it was delicious! Would recommend this place if you’re looking for something not pricey in ktown, with parking (it has a garage where you can get validation) and something light and not heavy. They have other dishes besides the Mandu if you’re not wanting that as well. The interior was clean and open, the seats are hard and not comfortable but overall the taste experience was really great. Also it’s pretty central ktown so you can also walk to hmart across the street or get dessert nearby.

CHD, which stands for Chang Hwa Dang. The Korean mandu franchise serves grilled and steamed dumplings with ingredients such as galbi, shrimp, kimchi and pork, along with dishes including mandu soup, udon and tteok-bokki. Easy parking located under the shopping complex 30mins free with a validation and/or metered street parking. If you're feeling brave just head over to H-Mart grab something then walk over. haha. Ambience was super clean and spacious and love the both seating in the perimeter. Food - Fresh dumplings with different varieties and a nicely sized portion of cold spicy noodles.

Not really impressed. Can't believe this place has high ratings. You can find better bunshik places in LA. 1. Get street parking. $5 valet after 2pm is not worth it here. 2. Ordered jeyuk rice (hot and spicy pork over rice)- it's okay. More white rice than pork or veggies. 3. Ordered half and half steamed mandoo. It was good enough but has MSG taste. I wish we just went to Hangari Kalgoosoo nearby.

Low key, no frills, mandu shop. You can get mandu here. As described. That's pretty much it. 👍

This place looks really cool and trendy in pictures but in reality… it’s pretty sad. I really wanted to like this place because when I saw it in Korea, I wanted to try it. You can tell the owners don’t really care about how the restaurant is run. The food looks really nice and pretty… but it tastes really… blegh nothing stood out about the dumplings… and the dukbokki was not that good either, they put all these filler ingredients like the fried noodle thing on top of it. All in all the experience was really disappointing. Would definitely not come back again

Highly disappointing Korean food. I’m very surprised about the rating for this place. Place came rememded by friends but was immensely disappointing. Food: had the spicy pork, bulgogi, and pork mandu and none of these were good. Spicy pork was not that flavorful, mediocre and full of MSG. The bulgogi was similar but my family member could not eat it so they tossed it. They said it was the worst they’ve ever had. This place was recommended for their dumplings/mandu, and I couldn’t eat more than one. It was the worst mandu I’ve ever had. Weird mixture of taste and had a chemical smell. Bad aftertaste too. Service: friendly, efficient; I did take out so not much to mention here Accessibility: located in a busy plaza with paid parking underneath. Parking for pickup is free for 30 minutes. The vibe of the place was clean and nice. Open and light.
