I had been wanting to try this place for quite a while and I’m sooo happy I finally got a chance to have dinner here the other night!!! Fresh and delicious are the first things that come to mind when I think about my meal here. So many options of things to cook in your own hot pot! I’m fairly new to this kind of restaurant but the staff was super helpful explaining everything to me which I’m very thankful for, I’m looking forward to many more meals here!!!

Located in the heart of Koreatown on Wilshire Blvd, Bon Shabu is a popular spot for Shabu Shabu lovers. It boasts a great location, minimal wait times, a wide variety of food options, and excellent service.

wow the quality of meat here is top tier!!! highly recommend the wagyu selection menu with ordering the first 4 on their menu. I loved the endless toppings and sides and their desserts were so good. the service was so great with several checkins to make sure we needed another round of meat, refills of the broth or anything else. it’s so cute in here too!!! a great, elevated casual lunch and dinner spot for small groups. plus they validate parking in the back!! which came in clutch 🫰🏽

We came with my family for dinner. This is my favorite type of food. The price is 42$ per person. They have huge buffet for the soup and some ready food. Big choice of different broths and meat. Don’t leave anything on your plate. They have fine for it.

Such a great place for groups with all types of dietary needs. I came on a weeknight and was seated right away. They have reservations for parties of 3 or more. The buffet has so many options you can literally eat a different meal every trip to get more add ins. Don’t forget to bring your ticket from the garage so your parking can get validated. I will absolutely be back, especially with my vegetarian friends!

Went on a weekday and they had the standard option for $42 only. I thought it was a bit pricey, but the food was awesome. We got two soup bases, sukiyaki and the original spicy. We got 4 plates of meat and it was good enough for the two of us. There were a wide variety of self serve options and they were all very good. This is my first ever hot pot experience and it was great. Highly recommended if you can afford this one.

Clean, lots of parking, service is fast and good selection of beef.

IG/TT @eatwkris it’s all you can eat $34 for lunch and $42 for dinner. They have a Wagyu option for $58. Don’t think you need to upgrade since the regular cuts are honestly very delicious. Super tender, no complaints about the meat. -1 star because Service is very slow but good thing the extensive buffet full of veggies, seafood, and cooked Korean dishes like fried chicken, bulgogi, and japchae can keep you busy! I love using perilla leaf as a wrap and my favorite is the sukiyaki broth.

So many side entry options to go with their large menu of quality cuts of meat! Their wagyu selection contain over a dozen meat options itself. The service was also very accommodating to add extra flavor to the two selected broths per pot. Overall, not too expensive for an AYCE shabu shabu experience with so many options of meats, sides, and attentive service.

I’ve been coming to Bon Shabu for a long time, but the quality and service have seriously gone downhill. The meat we were served had visible blood clots on it, and it was still brought to the table. Do they not do a quality check? One of the main reasons I enjoy hot pot is the sauce experience, but the sauce bar was completely empty for 20–30 minutes. The self-service bar was also poorly maintained, with vegetables and other items frequently empty.To make matters worse, for hot boiling soup they’ve switched to cheap plastic spoons, which makes no sense and feels like a major downgrade. Overall, the past few visits have been extremely disappointing, especially for a place I used to enjoy and return to regularly. I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Disappointing Experience… I was so excited to try this place with a friend for the first time, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. The service was underwhelming—they never checked in on us or asked how we were doing. We thought it would be around $35 per person, but when the bill came out to $116, we were shocked! The menu didn’t clearly show the prices, and only later, after searching online, did we realize the Wagyu selection was $58 each. We only ordered two types of meat (6 pieces each), so the cost felt way too high. Definitely not the experience we were expecting!

We ate here because it says on the poster outside that it is $28.99 per person on lunch time EXCLUDING SATURDAY and SUNDAY. We ate on THURSDAY LUNCH time, but they charged us the dinner price of $42.99 per person because it is a holiday. The sign says that the special price ONLY EXCLUDES SATURDAY AND SUNDAY; it doesn’t say that it excludes holiday!!! IT’S A REAL SCAM!!!! On top of that we ate during lunch time and why charge DINNER price just because it’s holiday. It doesn’t say anything about that on the poster and in the menu. So many people are SCAMMED, even the table beside us know it’s only $28.99 because that is what the sign outside says, but in reality they will charge you dinner price!!! Even though it’s only 11:30am!!! SO DISAPPOINTED ABOUT THIS PLACE!!!!

I visited this establishment on December 20, 2025 with a friend. We both ordered the tomato- and vegetable-based hot pot and filled our pots exclusively with vegetables and tofu. While waiting for our broth, we went to the hot bar to get additional food. I am a vegetarian and do not consume meat of any kind, including pork, chicken, or turkey. At the hot bar, I selected the fried rice, believing it to be vegetarian, and the japchae, which is typically a vegetarian dish. There was no signage indicating that the fried rice contained pork, while other items on the bar were clearly labeled as containing meat. For example, battered rings were labeled as squid rings, preventing confusion with onion rings. Because of this inconsistency, it was reasonable to assume the fried rice was meat-free. After eating most of the fried rice, I noticed pieces of meat in it. Initially, my friend and I thought it might have been minor cross-contamination from nearby dishes. However, when I asked the server, she confirmed—very plainly—that the fried rice contained pork. And then was blamed that I should have asked them if it was vegetarian versus providing me with a more clear explanation as to why the sign didn’t reflect what was in it. This was extremely alarming. I immediately thought about individuals who avoid pork for religious, health, ethical, or allergy-related reasons. Failing to label pork in a commonly vegetarian-assumed dish is a serious safety concern.What made this situation even more troubling was that the server informed me that the fried rice had only recently been changed from vegetable to pork, and that she herself was unaware of the change until weeks prior. If employees are not properly informed about ingredients, they cannot accurately guide customers—this poses a major health and safety risk. When I raised my concerns, I was told that the only accommodation available would require me to present a doctor’s note in order to receive a discount on a future visit. I made it clear that I would not be returning. Despite this, I was repeatedly told that I had to pay the full bill. I firmly disagreed, as I should not be required to pay for food that I could not safely consume—especially given that I have not eaten meat since 2008. In the end, the establishment only offered 50% off one item, despite the situation warranting a full comp for my meal. This restaurant is not safe for vegetarians, vegans, individuals with dietary restrictions, or those with religious limitations. The lack of proper labeling, poor communication, and dismissive handling of a legitimate concern are unacceptable. I will be reporting this incident to the health department. If it were possible, I would rate this establishment zero stars! Do not eat here!

Are they providing real wagyu meats? I don't think so, they should display what qualities they provide, and their utensils were unclean (smelled detergent on spoon and found dried stain). Foods in the bar was okay, i felt this place is more pricey than other real wagyu restaurants that provide real qualities. For my opinion i wouldn't recommend this place with their price for qualities.

Horrible service, never once came to see how we were doing or needed anything. At one point our broth ran out and it burnt our noodles. Gave an awful after smell, the lady didn’t once ask to change the broth out. She only asked once which type of protein we wanted and didn’t bother asking again. Didn’t offer what drink we would like, we had water the whole time. Very dissatisfied. This was today 7/17/25
