Great taste, zucchini excellent, french fries tasty and big portions , 1/4 pound burger better that the other famous chains out there, dressing well made . All the employees have excellent customer service they go the extra mile for service you well.
Good food available, and a selection broader than that of nearby InNOut. Clean both. Friendly service, especially if you are a regular- various customers were greeted by first name. The only draw back that I could think to claim was that is was a little cool inside.
I've been going here since I can remember coming with my dad and brother. The food here never disappoints and is always fresh and delicious from breakfast all the way to dinner. Great vibes and excellent service. Call in advance because it can get packed at times.
One of my favorite Burgers! Always made fresh to order, fries are real potatoes, I don't care much for season salt, but it is popular. Zucchini fries are good too! Portions are good size and prices are reasonable for what you get.
When you think "American Burgers" this is it! These guys have the most badass classic shop in the area, they accept cash and card so dont even think about not having money. THE BURGERS are FAT!!! LOVE THIS PLACE MAN! this place has been open a long time, and they have the most classic menu you can think of, cheeseburgers, jr cheeseburgers for the small stomachs, fries, sandwiches, burritos, pop, milk, juice, tea, coffee, water you name it, Breakfast. I mean these guys have a traditional "burger shop" and im really grateful their still in business, God bless these guys and their and food. They add a ton of avocado to your Avocado burgers! Large fries are a meal all its own, and the burgers are so big!
I've been going there since I was a child. What makes it so special is the family atmosphere.. it's family owned.. price's are great, food is awesome.. portions are huge, always packed and that's a good thing . Highly recommend..great location
Five starts cause every time I come here to eat wether I’m doing laundry or just to eat. Never disappoints!!! My always go to option is cheeseburger or steak n eggs sandwich because the taste never fails as for the fries! Yes they have other options to eat but I haven’t gotten over those two meals and will continue come here cause it’s bomb af and customer service is always friendly and straight up!
The best burger spot I have ever been to! Breakfast, lunch, dinner doesnt matter the food is always spot on. Been going here for years and NEVER a bad meal or service. The owners Toss and Bill (toughguy :) ) are super cool dudes!
Simple but good. A regular burger joint and etc. The service was also good.
We had a great experience here! My friend came here for more than 20 years and told me about it!best pancakes, omelets and steaks! No only the good but the owner is so kind and spread his lovely positives vibes.Thank you!
Great staff, very tasty burritos
I stumbled on this place after getting gas in my truck. As soon as I walked through the door, I knew it would be a great place. I had their Patty Melt with fries and a Dr. Pepper, uumm good!
Best burgers and fries in town. Great family owned hamburger place. I’ve tried everything on the menu and never disappointed. The food is fresh and made to order.
This restaurant has one of, if not the best teriyaki plate in Los Angeles. It's a huge freshly made extra juicy chicken plate and I very much recomend it. Price is high but worth every Last penny. Also like their fríes.
I have been there for both breakfast and lunch. In both cases I have found it a very good place for a quick meal. Food quality is high and service is very accommodating. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I have had pancakes and burgers there. They refill drink such as lemonade. They have everything I asked for including sugar-free syrup. The staff is very friendly. That they are only a block away from in and out and still have customers says a lot about both the quality of the food and the service. I find it a very good place to go.
Forget that dumb line across the street! These chili fries are great!
I lost my favorite local burger joint years ago... I couldn't find anything after that was delicious. I love visiting Alhambra/ S. Pasadena area and have seen Pharos countless times. I finally tried it for the first time last month and I have already been there four times after. It's definitely delicious and a neat place to enjoy your meal solo or with people. The staff are very friendly and assist very professionally. Not too many of the original burger places out there anymore that are good but Pharaohs is DEFINITELY a place to enjoy a delicious old fashioned burger! I look forward to trying more things on the menu!
This is the best burger anywhere. If you like a simple burger from the 80's with that thousand island flavor and crispy seasons fries, this is the spot. Chili cheese fries are bomb too. Loads of cheese. Sometimes I add bacon and avocado if I'm extremely hungry, but if not it's too much. It tastes like the burger joint I grew up with and I absolutely love it. Screw Flanders.
I live in the area and stopped by for the first time on 4/20/21. Place was busy, yet got my food quickly. A burger and a zucchini side. Got it to go and was home in about 5 minutes. Food was still nice and hot. Very good food, generous portions and reasonably priced. Clean place. Friendly staff. I'll be back, probably this evening :-)
Don't let the negative reviews fool you..try it for yourself and you be the judge..the food is good love the mushroom burger but overall good quality food
This place is awesome! The burgers are charbroiled and delicious. The owner was there and he and the staff are very nice and quick. I got a triple cheeseburger in a lettuce wrap and the taste is second to none. If your tired of waiting in long lines at IN and OUT (I like In and Out but they fry their burgers) and want to remember what real beef burgers taste like, slide into this place. You will not be disappointed.
This is a great place with a very simple menu and relaxed atmosphere. The parking lot is tiny and shared. I like going here instead of similar places nearby because of the service. There is more of a mature feel here. I know my business is appreciated. It's a feeling that's tough to put into words, but you know it when you see it. The food is hot and always good. It might be a little hard to find a spot at certain times, but it's worth the effort. This is an example of the small things that a business does going a long way.
Hospitality that they showed my kids n myself was excellent. The manager makes you feel comfortable upon entry to the restaurant, immediately engages in conversation. Food was decent.. love their French toast breakfast. As well as their Bacon Cheeseburger. Yummy.
I have been patronizing this business for almost 2 decade's! I have never once had an order messed up here! The business is family owned and they appreciate your business no matter who you are, what you look like, where you coming from! They will treat you with the utmost respect and give you the best service!
Great service! Burgers are really tasty. There every time I work in the area. Highly recommend this place
Great burger joint! Been coming here for going on 12 years now! Burgers are big and the combos are a great portion size (not like the other guys). The owners are there sometimes and they actually get down and work with the crew which shows great leadership👍🏽if your ever around this area I would HIGHLY recommend this over their neighbors in n out or any other burger joint around. Keep up the good work guys 🤙🏽🍔
The fried Mushrooms made me so happy. Glad I found this spot. The parking situation is a little tight but definitely worth it. Customer service and food quality is top notch for a mom and pop burger stand. The lunch crowd gets in and out of this place quick cause everyone is on top of it behind the counter.
First time going there & was pleasingly surprised at the good food there! I ordered a Club Sandwich with avocado & was hefty and very satisfying! Club sandwich was fresh just like I like it with an order of fries hit the spot! The restaurant is clean and there’s outside tables with umbrellas & they allow your furry pets on the outside patio! I will be definitely going again! To go orders are popular there! Nice little place! There’s parking available too!
Some of the best burgers in alhambra IMHO. I especially like their 1/4 pounder burger with a soda and a side of fries which are rather tasty not greasy nor salty and a nice generous serving. When I place my order, the staff is very friendly and attentive from the time I place my other until I receive my meals. So, if you're looking for a nice meal at a nice price, then head over and grab yourself a burger at this establishment.
Randomly stopped here after leaving the doctor. I don't know how to describe that "classic" burger joint taste, but this place has it. Fries were soft and hot! The burgers come with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and chopped white onion so if you don't want any of those make sure you say so. I didn't think to ask, but luckily the onions were in big chunks so it was easy to take off. It comes with a thousand island(?) sauce on it but after adding ketchup and mustard it became that really old school burger that you need a napkin with every bite (RIP shirt). A couple of regulars came in and the owner knew their orders right away. He speaks fluent Spanish too.
Since they opened up after the fried chicken place was there , Pharos has been a staple now of the neighborhood. Their bacon avocado cheeseburger to me is the best in all Southern California …. The teriyaki chicken is so delicious.. top grade food .. the best !!!!
Good service, good seating and good food. I got the gyro and it was packed with meat.
Love this place! I will always choose these delicious authentic burgers over in n out across the street anyday.
First time trying the tuna sandwich and I wasn't disappointed. It so good!
Pharos is seriously solid. The fried mushrooms were crispy and delicious—definitely worth trying. The turkey burger was on point too, juicy and packed with flavor. I snagged a bite of my son’s breakfast burrito (he had it for dinner), and I totally get why it’s a favorite. It was super tasty and hit the spot. The food is really good, the place is clean, and the service is quick. Plus, it’s owned by a super nice family, which makes it even better. Pharos is a spot I’ll definitely be coming back to.
This place is no hole on the wall. Don't let their competition (InNout-across the street) fool you. This place has great meals for all ages. It's a great place for families, couples or just your hungry joe. I go there with my son, he and I are satisfied when we finish eating.
I tried their garden burger for the 1st time, and it was the best garden burger since I went vegetarian almost 20 years ago! If you pass by and see them, get a bite, you won't regret it! My bf got a chicken salad and orange bang, and it is like we went back to the 90s to have their meal. It was pretty impressive, and it seems like the food is done with love. If you ever wonder what to eat, give Pharos a chance! Enjoy! 😁
Drove by this diner randomly I’m not from the area. The name was cool Pharos and I saw gyros on the sign. I just got back from Greece in September for our honeymoon and wanted a little nostalgia. Ordered the lamb & beef gyro and was spot on! Delicious! If you want a quick taste of Greece for a weekday lunch come here
Burgers are very tasty. This place is a Gem 💎.
Everyone here is wonderful. Local owners who've been running this restaurant in the most friendly way for many years. The food is also excellent. Made fresh and with great ingredients. This is my go-to location whenever I'm in Alhambra. Always support local businesses. Highly recommended!
ABSOLUTE GEM! Best Burgers in town. Hand battered onion rings, zucchini, mushrooms. Best Chili of any known and unknown establishment. Breakfast items are delicious. Owners Bill and Toz and super welcoming and friendly. One of those spots where they remember their customers and are genuinely happy to see them.
Stopped by from out of the area. Just finished knocking out a tough workload, we we're starving before our hour and a half drive home. Grabbed a few double cheeseburgers and some fries. I wish this place was closer I would take this over any of my local spots. The Joint was clean, food was great seasoned well and we didn't have to wait long. I'll definitely make this a regular spot when I'm Cruise through.
After a long day of traveling yesterday, the hubs and I were ready to hit the town and look for a good breakfast spot. We came across this place and the breakfast burrito did NOT disappoint. Staff was friendly and the kitchen was quick! Thanks for a great opening experience for these Texas travelers. :-)
Great portions, Huge menu, Great tasting food, cash incentives, owners are kind. Highly recommend 👍👍👍
First time we come and the double cheeseburger was amazing. The service was exceptional. Great experience for me and my son.
I tried the Mushroom Burger at Pharos Burgers, and wow — it was absolutely fantastic. From the first bite, it’s clear that every component of this burger is carefully crafted. The patty is juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The mushrooms are sautéed to perfection — earthy, savory, and rich — and they pair beautifully with the melted cheese. The bun is soft yet sturdy, holding everything together without getting soggy, which is more important than people realize in a great burger. What really sets this burger apart is the balance of flavors and textures. The mushrooms add depth without overpowering the beef, the cheese adds creaminess, and the seasoning is just right — you can taste all the ingredients without anything being too salty or too heavy. Every bite is satisfying, indulgent, and keeps you wanting more. The portion size is generous, and the burger is hearty enough to be a full meal, but it never feels overwhelming. Service at Pharos Burgers was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for grabbing a great burger without fuss. Overall, the Mushroom Burger is easily one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time — flavorful, perfectly balanced, and just downright delicious. If you’re a burger lover, this one is not to be missed.
Everyone was so nice!! Friendly & Welcoming!! And the Cheeseburger I ordered was exactly how I liked it, with thousand island sauce! Best of all was the chili cheese fries!! I requested a large size with half chili. They even asked me if I wanted cheese all over which made it even better!! Fully stocked with a self serve of those yellow chili peppers. I will definitely come back.
Had my first burger here when I was a kid literally 20+ years ago. Moved away and never had it again. Came back during the pandemic and it was still so good. Finally came back yesterday and verdict is it’s still bomb!! Got the chili cheese burger and bacon cheese with zucchini fries. Love that this place hasn’t changed and price is still excellent. Pls don’t ever change I love this place and will keep coming back now that I’m closer 🥹
We didn’t eat in, and the restaurant is clean & nice. I love small profile places like this. I feel like I’m supporting local vs. the chain next door. The food was UHMAZING. Timing from order to grab and go, really good. The staff was really nice. First time here, we’ll be back
My sons and I tried Pharos for the 1st time. We had fries, fried zucchini, 1/4 lb burger, bacon double cheese burger, pastrami sandwich, coke, and raspberry iced tea. We all said it was the best we have ever had. We used to go to another famous pastrami place but this tops them. I'm telling my other family members and will bring them here.
Love their sandwiches, burgers. But, Ordered fried chicken, don't recommend. It's beautiful to look at in pictures, but It's odd. Texture underneath breading is questionable. I don't know how to describe it. Love their other stuff on menu tho. Ranch, buy it as a side for those fries.
Classic family owned business. I like there fried zucchini, which are thick cut. The burgers are a good size and taste well like a burger should. It's a good local spot and I'd you're in the area a lot it is worth a stop, but wouldn't go to far out of my way to come here
This was one of my go-to lunch place when I used to work near there for many years. They have consistent quality after all these years. My favorite was the cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink. The burgers here are one of the best tasting burgers around. Their fries are seasoned with season salt and it's golden on the outside and fluffy inside. Don't even need ketchup. Their drinks are not watered down with too much ice either. And you have to compliment your meal with the pickled yellow chili peppers! I also like their chicken teriyaki plate.
Family vibe business. They always make to feel welcome. Food is great and reasonably priced.
Very satisfied with the pastrami burger; excellent pastrami. Would recommend and would order again. Nice staff, even though they lost my order during the lunch rush. Bumped into a couple of LA detectives while waiting, so if you go watch your P's and Q's
Excellent burger. Great seasoned fries. However, like most of these types of burger joints, surfaces are a little sticky. Parking is limited. I'd probably eat here a lot if Iived closer.
Nice little mom and pop burger joint. Located in an awkward intersection area that make ingress and egress a little tricky. Burgers really are flame broiled and are pretty good. Fresh veggies on top and a nice soft bun. Fries are thick cut and well seasoned. Prices are about what most burger places are these days. Haven't tried anything else on the menu, but I'm sure we'll be back.
After years of driving by, I finally enjoyed a meal here, on a recommendation from a friend. He was correct! The food is great. The chorizo breakfast burrito is a winner. I'll be back to try their burgers soon. Parking can be limited so carpool if you can help it. The prices are fair. The only thing I would not recommend, and I'm not holding it against them, is the coffee. It's your classic over-roasted and watered down stuff. You're better off grabbing a cup from 7-Eleven next door.
Place is clean and food is good. Cashier got order wrong and tattoo girl behind counter didn't seem to like her job. Tattoo girl had a don't care attitude. Other than that everything else was fine.
The double burger with avocado is good but not as I expected for the price of adding avocado. In overall the quality is about a 3.5.I will return to try another item the future.
I went to Pharos Burgers around 5:30 pm on a Friday and was surprised there was no line. However, parking was pretty full at the time. For seating, there were plenty of options inside and outside as well. I like this spot, since it has an old school diner vibe. In my recent visit, I got the double cheeseburger with bacon and a side of the fried zucchini. Once ordered, it only took a few minutes before my order was ready. The burger was something I got before and the quality held up. It was definitely juicy, but the drawback was the buns got soggy. I recommend to eat it asap if you get a burger. As for the zucchini, it had a slight crispiness on the outside, and a mushy inside. There was a ranch that was for the zucchini, which helped saved the taste. Once I ran out of ranch, I felt it was hard to finish it. I personally wouldn’t recommend that nor get it again. American Express is accepted at this store!
Food is typical diner food, just a bit cheaper quality than I am used to for something with such great reviews. It's a good spot for a quick bite, but no real flavor or anything unique. I came here in search of a good club sandwich. My kid wanted a burger. The burger was alright. Club sandwich was absolutely horrible. I don't know what I expected, but it was just loaded with thick cut deli meats that had no flavor. The sandwich just had an absolutely terrible mouth feel - all meats and weird texture. I was actually quite disgusted by the place and really don't know why I didn't just ask for a refund and walk out. As I was paying, a cockroach scurried in front of me on the counter. I flicked it on the ground and killed it, but another came out right behind it. Clearly, there's a problem with pest control here and it's not being addressed adequately. I the employees had good sanitation practices as I watched that make the food and I'm hoping that everything was sealed and containers and in refrigerators and safe from insects. Thankfully I didn't get sick. Neither did my kid so I'm guessing it may be an isolated problem. Definitely not going back and would recommend to anyone they look elsewhere for quick and cheap eats.
First off, their food is amazing. I have tried everything on their menu, and never been disappointed. As for their owner, and I'm talking about the one who works the AM shift, he is a bit of an arrogant/ jerk. I try not to go there during his scheduled shift. His brother, who I assume is the PM watch, is way better to deal with.
For many years, I'd been passing by this place and told myself to try it someday. Well, today was that chance. The double bacon hamburger I ordered was huge, but overcooked and dry. I do think it needs more sauce. On the other hand, I liked the French fries as they were also decently sized and crispy. This place isn't as good as The Hat or In-N-Out IMO, but it is worth trying if you haven't been. I know they have other items like breakfast burritos, which you can't find at the other two. Probably wouldn't come back; I was glad to help support a small business in my community.
The food was ok. My pastrami burger’s pastrami was a bit dry and looked and tasted a few hours too old. I was so hungry I just scarfed it down anyways. My wife’s mushroom burger did not please her and she didn’t feel well after eating it. The cashier was nice but the place was on the dirty side and also, the cooks don’t wear gloves so I really hope they wash their hands.
Wide variety of menu items that let's everyone find just what their in the mood for having. A bit tough with In-N-Out virtually next door, but they seem to try hard and do have their loyal customers. Prices a bit on the high side
Maybe it’s just me, but I wasn’t impressed with the pastrami sandwich or the fries. The pastrami was extremely dry and seemed to be missing something—maybe more mustard or seasoning? It just didn’t have that bold, flavorful taste I’ve come to expect from a good pastrami sandwich. As for the fries, I ordered a small and noticed there was definitely seasoning on them—it was all over my hands—but somehow they still tasted bland. Overall, it’s a no for me moving forward. This place might be popular with the locals, but honestly, the food feels like it’s lacking.
Fast food. Handsome guy at the counter, not welcoming, no eye contact. Only filled the small drink that came with the meal halfway, and he knew it, capped it anyway, and handed it over by making me reach over a large counter. Weird attitude for no reason. However, the French fries were crispy and fluffy. 5/5 The gyro (one of the most expensive items on menu @$16 ) was actually good with only the clunky chucks of tomato falling out...good ratio of tzatiki sauce and onions. 5/5 I'd passed by for years but always wondered about the place bec it always seemed busy, kinda like a truckers stop busy. There was an extensive menu suspended above the grill...I saw that hamburgers and hot dogs all reasonably price under $7. There's even the throwback of Orange Bang on the menu. Too bad the buff guy taking orders was so ugh. Back to the gym, dude. Put someone nice and welcoming for front of house. Place was busy tho at 1 pm on a weekday, nice and clean, with ample seating on patio. And small two and four person booths that make it perfect for singleton dining. I had fun stopping by for my fast food culinary adventure, but won't be back. Not that this establishment would care.
Pharos has always been good but I’m getting very tired of ordering combos advertised with a drink and I still have to pay for a drink extra on the side. Also if you guys can please update the pricing, you have items on the menu that are actually 2-3 dollars more than their listed price on the menu and that’s a big difference for a lot of people.
Good food but don't like the older white man who works there, somewhat rude! Also a creeper, you get paid to take orders not give weird comments or opinions.
Stay away at all costs: Picked up a burger and fries. Threw up after eating less than half of it. Called the restaurant and Owner called me a liar. I’ve been going to Pharo’s for years. Years. I love supporting my community and especially small businesses. After I placed an order for a Jr Cheeseburger and fries, I found myself feeling really sick after. I’ve never had this experience before, let alone with Pharos. I found myself throwing up everything I just eaten. After washing up, I decided to call in and let them know what had happened and to maybe check their ingredients or something. Anything. The kid who helped me immediately passed me off to the owner, who I’ve known for years. After hearing what I told him, he responded with a very dismissive “okay?”. He then told me that it couldn’t have been their food since everyone else had eaten a cheeseburger and was fine. I told him I’d like a refund and he straight up told me no. After I told him fine and hung up, he literally calls me 5 minutes later to scoff at me and tell me that my story was implausible and continued to call my story a lie. He still denied my refund to which I asked why he even bothered to call me in the first place, and he continued to repeat himself over and over about how my story was “so implausible”. I’m sure if I delivered a bag full of my puke he would have still called me a liar. No sympathy, not a hint of customer service at all. This is a place that puts profits before people. Stay away. Edit: if you want further proof how this guy treats customers he doesn’t like, check out his comments to the other bad reviews on here. They speak for themselves.
Customer service was rude! I genuinely did not hear the lady tell me there was salsa in the breakfast burritos over the phone. I’m sure she did, but Management did not have to keep repeating out loud where everyone can hear that I did not hear it. Unacceptable! On top of that I ordered a sausage burrito, but went home with a bacon one. Will not return!
I went to the establishment on Friday March 14, 2025 around 10 am to 11 am approximately. The white hair man working at the register was very aggressive in his vocabulary towards me as soon as I walked in. I walked in very happy and ready to ask if I could get a Dr. Pepper soda and my mother to use the ladies room. The man at the register makes a comment saying how strong she is and I got confused as I was walking towards the register and flexed my arm because I thought he was talking about me being strong. Then he says “oh not you”the other man he was talking to who was a customer that his daughter is strong because she does jujitsu. Then I say oh. Then the cashier starts to say that I need to go to the gym. I told him that I actually go to the same gym that the other man’s daughter goes too. Then he was asking me what gym I go to and the location. Then I try to change the subject and I ordered the soda and my mother went to the ladies room. Then he gives me my soda and continues to say I need to go to the gym. As he is saying this out-loud in the establishment. So I waited for my mom while drinking my soda. Then my mom comes back and gives him the key. As we are both about to leave he says out loud to me “Don’t forget to go to the gym.” I turned and said I’ll come back and eat breakfast here because I was left speechless. I think for him making comments about my body, that I should go to the gym really did not sit well with me because I felt I was being body shamed. Now it is no one’s right to be speaking of another women’s body especially in a public atmosphere. I tried to laugh it off but it didn’t sit well with me. In conclusion, I’m not sure if he is the owner or a cashier but he needs to be well trained in customer service and over all policies of harassment. If he is doing this to me he might be doing it to others. Please make sure this becomes further investigated.
We came as a group of three, and after having lunch here, all of us ended up with severe and very unpleasant diarrhea. Something was clearly wrong with the food. This was a terrible experience, and we definitely won't be coming back.
I was shocked and surprised how bad the food was . That was literally the worst pastrami I've ever had in my life . The staff are super friendly and nice but the food was not. The atmosphere is super old and outdated and it feels like the mid 70s. The pastrami was so dry and old and chewy and thick and full of fat that it was dreadful to take even a couple of bites. Extremely over salty . The chicken salad that we ordered was very dry and over chewy. The salad was chopped rough with big pieces . The burger was okay but nothing spectacular. I don't like giving local businesses bad reviews, but I'm sure the food is not meant to be this low quality and can be much better. But sadly it's not a place I would come back. . At the end of the day, we spent almost $35 and walked out of their hungry.Food is a passion full of love, Please pay attention to the quality and respect people's money and time. People spend time driving to places that are supposed to be five star Google reviews. Especially for us reviewers that we're trying to support local businesses. I'm very disappointed and I had wished I didn't have to write a review like this. Hopefully it's a wake up call and we hear about your improvements and future success.
First time here, pretty busy which was nice to see. I ordered the gyro combo and soda pop, fries. My expectatins were real Gyro meat and I received some strips. The flavor was good the sauce was great, needed a bit more onions I thought. I ordered for dine in and needed the tables to be cleaned, over all one star..will have to try another item..
I went here on a Friday about 5pm and ordered a chicken dinner , that came with chicken that's double dipped in the oil and a salad that just had romane lettuce with no tomatoes or cucumber very plain. It was very greasy and very dry chicken inside. Please don't order this for almost 17 dollars save your money. Disappointed.
