The bread was amazing, and the macaroni and cheese was awesome, and the sweet tea was terrific..!! The chicken was great too!! The corn on the cob was amazing!!

The Allen location is my favorite because they get it right every time. They are fast and accurate. Plus since I'm a gizzard guy, this is the only place I can get them cooked perfect; not hard and rubbery as if they sat under a heat lamp all day.

Ha. I'm not the person, driving this review ... it's my kiddo'. She loves their chicken fingers. Hands down, better than Canes, she says. Big fan of their yummy buttered rolls ... her words, not mine. Mac and cheese paradise, for your lip snacking. Lol. Also, she wants everyone to know, their sweet tea is great ... even though she always drinks water. They have a huuuge' stainless tank of tea ... so it has to be good. The mind of a 7 year old. Makes sense to me !

Excellent food. Fast, hot and friendly staff. Even when my 85 yr old mother tried to be a stinker the staff handled the situation very professional. I was very pleased. I apologize for her attitude but in the end she was happy. Thank you.

Exactly what I expected. Clean restaurant and fast service. I had a large order for 5 people and they had it ready in a few minutes. The quality of the food was good. No complaints at all.

The fish are large fillets and taste very good. The tea is the best I've had, and I drink tea every day. Also you can buy their tea by the gallon for a inexpensive price.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, The lunch special is $5.50 and you get two chicken strip tenders/one side/a yummy roll/white cream gravy and a large drink. With tax it's $5.96ish depending where you live. Not all the locations do this and some only do it for students.

Our last visit to the Chicken Express in Allen was awesome! I get fresh food every time, including fries, which is an area that most restaurants slack on. Junior and the rest of his team was awesome, as usual! The wife and I usually get the spicy tenders and they are always fresh when we do. Everything about this team is awesome and whoever hired them, keep it up! I definitely recommend this location as well as the Plano and Rowlett locations. If you’re looking for fresh, fast, and consistent service/food, this is where you want to go! Great job guys and girls!

Their fried fish with corn meal was the best I've eaten in a while and you can't beat the fa.ily meal $30.00 that's a deal ! Comes with a lot of fish about 4 people! Easily one of our new favorite fried chicken restaurants, which used to be Popeyes. I've always experienced great service with this location, whether it be dine-in, take out or drive through. Chicken is always fried and seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The seasoning is milder than most fried chicken restaurants, in my opinion, which allows us to actually taste the chicken rather than being inundated with seasoning overpowering every bite. We've never ordered any sides besides fried okra, so I can't comment on those. But their fried okra is on point and Chicken Express is pretty generous with the family sized box which we order with the family 8 piece chicken meal. I am not going to start with their dinner rolls and gallon sweet tea, actually, I will. The dinner rolls are absolutely fantastic, they kind of remind me of King's Hawaiian rolls, baked fresh and with a shiny splash of butter. The sweet tea is one of the best, I still think Golden Chick has the best fast food sweet tea, but Chicken Express is a close second, and they offer it in 1-gallon to-go jugs. $29 for an 8-piece family fried chicken meal and a gallon of sweet tea is not a bad deal at all.

I forgot how tasty Chicken Express was. They don't have it in the PNW. Well seasoned fried chicken, better than Church's Chicken and I love their country gravy with the mash potatoes. I came to this location because other folks said the chicken here is better and fresher. The staff did not disappoint. It's a clean establishment and the cashier was super nice. Plenty of parking. My food arrived hot and fresh. I can't wait to make another trip here before I leave.

I Love to stop by here every chance I get my wife’s kids live in the area and we get the family deal all the time which comes with a gallon of sweet tea great chicken tenders but I have yet to try there chicken but definitely good food and service

Ordered a family size 12 piece chicken . The potatoes and slaw were family size .. the gravy however was mini size . Maybe enough for 1 person . Probably won’t be back ..

It's a great place but everything is up in price. We always get #25 and it came to $72 ... Other than that we always love the food and their sweet tea is the bomb.

Only chain place that serves up freshly fried gizzards which is not everyone's face I know. Chicken strips are bland unless you order the spicy and be sure and get a pack of their seasoned salt. Gizzards cooked fresh all you gotta do is ask

I give 4 stars for several reasons. The last time I ordered from here was actually a decent eating experience however, the few times before were anything but. This chicken express used to be sacred to us back in 2008 walking home from high school, was the best in the west. Not sure what happened as of late but the quality has diminished immensely and the pricing is outrageous. Have had CE at other locations and they were how I remembered Allen CE to be back in 2008. I give 4 stars because this CE means a lot to me and the last experience was an improvement from the times before. PS, would be better if the chicken was cooked a little bit longer. PSS the Chicken Express in Commerce is doing it right.

There's fried chicken and then there's Chicken Express. Chicken Express has the best fried chicken in my opinion. How do they make that chicken so crispy yet so juicy? The rolls are great too, they are fluffy, buttery, and melt in your mouth. The Saginaw location is the best, but this one isn't bad. The price for a family meal is almost as much as a sit down restaurant though, and it seems like it costs more each time I go, which is less often now. Look for coupons in the mail though.

Food was really good. But, Chicken Express embeds DoorDash as their online ordering system but does not disclose that online ordering is up to 20% more expensive than in stores. Was not happy about paying $6 in markup fees.

Would’ve given 4 stars if I did not receive the leftover 30 pieces that might’ve been left stale for hours. They were not crispy like other chicken express locations.

I come here often and usually my experience is good but I was a little disappointed yesterday/today. I mentioned to the person at the register that I didn’t get any biscuits or rolls with my 3 pieces of chicken yesterday and instead of apologizing or acknowledging he was just looking at me like crazy. It was actually the same person at the register both days.

Just came by for the first time and if I’m going to be 100% transparent… just go to Canes or golden chick. Yes the chicken taste different here but after like 3 fingers it taste nasty. Kinda like the oil is burnt. Also the Mac n cheese was…. Yea no. And plus THERES NO SIGNATURE SAUCE! But overall place was mid.

Well I live in McKinney and my McKinney Chicken Express burned down so I traveled all the way to Allen to get some hearty Chicken Express. I walked into place my order the kid was friendly he repeated what I said to the kitchen but obviously they didn't hear what he said my chicken breasts were abnormally small almost like KFC nothing usual Hefty chicken breast. I ordered my gallon of tea my extra 6 rolls $30 worth of food from me and my wife upon driving all the way home to McKinney I got double gravy no mashed potatoes the corn was chewy and the damn green beans were soggy and well over done like it had been sitting there all day. I was slightly disappointed for $30 small chicken breast couldn't get the sides right and the sides they did get right or old slightly disappointed and sad.

When it's good, it's REALLY good. When you buy a family meal and receive half day old food, not so much. I live 3 min from this location and absolutely nothing was warm when I got home. We had to reheat everything, even the rolls. No plasticware, no napkins. Employees are friendly though! My personal opinion is that family meals should be made fresh. A customer that is spending nearly $50 on fast food should receive some type of priority. We probably will skip this as a fast meal option in the future.

Too much pepper in the gravy and too much salt on the fries. Hate that strong pepper taste.

My overall experience has been good, but some things have changed and not for the better, such as price and food quantity. I get food prices goes up over time, but didn't know that the food quantity goes down and on top of the fact that its in TX of all places. I ordered the 7 express tender meal, but still felt hungry afterwards.

I have always been a huge fan of this place but the last few visits have not been great. Seems like something has changed with the batter/fry on the chicken. It's darker and just doesn't taste as good. The batter has always been a light color and the taste was fantastic. My previous review even said that I had never received a bad piece of chicken before. But then a month or so ago I got some darker pieces that just tasted like burnt fry oil, I thought maybe they just got over cooked by mistake. But then 2 more visits and it's the same. Did something change? Tastes more like some gas station fried chicken now vs what was always a fantastic taste for so many years. What happened??

70.00 for a family meal with 2 extra sides is ridiculous! The management is rude and if you go thru the drive thru be prepared too wait and wait. We won't be going back

Food is ok. Place is clean. Service is good. Low star rating because these places are expensively priced for what lil food you get! Tenders kinda rubbery and taste ok but nothing exceptional by any means.

Some of the worst customer service in Allen. These kids have no customer service experience and can't even say hi. Chicken Express seems to be my guilty pleasure place to eat. The food isn't always wonderful but man I love their chicken and okra. This is the second worst location I've been to behind the Lumberton Texas store. The food is questionably cooked on occasion, chicken feels undercooked, okra is always overcooked. The service isn't very great which I'm learning seems to be a pattern here in Allen.

Everything except the rolls were served cold. Apparently "express" means it was sitting on the counter until someone ordered it. Hard to judge taste because I am prejudiced against cold chicken and cold french fries cannot be redeemed.

Hot food that's good but there has been one time out of at least 8 where I've been handed everything I've ordered in the drive thru. Always check your bags at this place because they do not make sure they got everything. Every time I have been in the inside every employee is having a good time talking and chatting to each other which I imagine is why they miss so much. It's fine to have fun but you have to make sure the customer is taken care of.

Ordered three 7 piece chicken tender meals, one spicy, one half spicy and half regular and a regular one. Paid 53 dollars. Got home had barely 5 pieces of the spicy tenders. Chicken did not seem fresh at all. Potatoes only half of a small cup, looked like someone ate the other half, soon chicken had skin off of it! We usually always go here! It was terrible this time, threw over half the food away because it was not good! Won't be going here anytime soon again!!

I like Chicken Express, but not this one. A while back I tried to order a family meal and they told me I'd have to wait 20 minutes. Nope, I drove off & left. Another time I got my meal & the chicken was greasy/soggy.

Do not go here I ordered 16 pieces family meal 2 family cole slaw And than 20 tenders it was all wrong they gave me 15 tenders 20 tenders plus for the two family order of fries they manager made me pay for it, there was a teenage boy that was there and he said it was a hole in his cup the manager looked transferred the ice from old cup to new cup and was upset helping the African American young man.no drink in it he gave him a hard time like something is wrong you need a new cup during COVID-19. He was treating the young man like he was stealing I will never buy from here again. No one here was wearing a mask that was cooking. Only one wearing a mask was a young woman in the drive thru. Do not go here they did not do right.

I have always been a fan of Chicken Express. However, today changed my mind. First, we waited at the window for over 10 minutes. Then, when we got home, we realized they messed up our order by giving the wrong sides. To top it off, half the roll was missing. Will not go back.

Craving the fish fillets, mashed potatoes and green beans. I ordered this from the drive thru, which anyone knows for “fast food” isn’t cheap! So when you’re paying almost $10 bucks for something, not to mention, you literally make the comment to the person; “sure hope this tastes great because I’m starving!” Well, you expect it at the very least to be warm, not congealed mashed potatoes, dry as a bone, luke warm fish and warm green beans! I’d understand any of the ‘warm’ temperatures of the food if I lived far from the restaurant, but I live less than a mile away. I should have said something right away when I noticed the guy brought the window server my food almost immediately, instead of the normal wait time for the fish to cook. Lesson learned from this location.

I've made it a habit of checking my order every time I visit. We usually order the 10 piece dark special which is suppose to be 6 thighs and 4 legs. When I checked the order I had 6 legs and 4 thighs (not the first time either). When I mentioned it to the server, she asked the manager who said it was 6 legs, 4 thighs. When I pointed out the card that listed the special she corrected the order. It was apparent, looking at the food trays that there was a large surplus of legs and only a few thighs. It looks like the manager was trying to correct the problem by screwing the customers. To make things worse, the server put the the two legs she removed from my order back in the serving tray after having been touched by my ungloved hands while I checked the order. The customer who received these legs should be glad that I don't have hepatitis or TB.

Service and quality have gone way down hill. I just sat in line behind someone that made a big order in the drive thru. It literally took 5 plus minutes for them to get her gone. In the mean time they had already boxed my food. I live 1 minute away from the store and when I got home my food was cold. Won’t be back

The service my family and I get here is horrible. You order one thing but they give you what they want to. The drive through needs to put more effort into listening to the customer. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to get orders correct. It's a shame I have to drive miles and miles to get my order correct. Someone needs to do something about the service. 😒😒😒😒

I love chicken express in general. I have been to the Allen location 5-6 times and I have been disappointed each time. I work in Dallas and I go to a chicken express near work and 9 out of 10 times it is excellent. This Chicken Express in Allen has given less than I ordered(3 tenders instead of 4), wimpy chicken, or cold sides( I got a soupy mac & cheese one time). The last time I visited, I went directly to the counter and told the person of my experiences and said if this one was sub-par again I would not come back. It was sub-par and I haven't been back. I live very near and often want to stop in on my way home from work, but I will just be disappointed again. One more minor issue is that the #1 is about $.40 more in Allen. The store in Dallas charges 6.99 for a #1

Don't waste your time at this place. I came in to pick up a to go order that was supposed to be ready at 5:08. I arrived at 5:22 and the man said they didn't have the order. So I showed him the order on my phone. I proceeded to wait another 25 minutes while other customers came in, got their food, and left. He was rude to me, telling me to move over because he had a customer. I said, "I thought I was a customer". He apparently doesn't like white people.

I arrived at this location twice so far to order from the window. Each time, the greeting was "order when you're ready" very blah .. whatever happened to being friendly and welcoming folks. If it weren't for the people ordering food, you wouldn't have a job. If you dont like the job your in, you should consider finding another one. if there was a rating of zero stars that is what I would give this location. Employees park in the spots in front of the restaurant to make it look as if they have customers, the customers then have to park on the other side, you go in and there are no customers. When asked about the employees parking in front, they all laugh. More than once I have gotten home with our to-go meal only to find that part of it was left out. Food is good but service at the Allen location sucks.

DO NOT EAT HERE - I ordered the 10 piece mix yesterday (3/14/21). I noticed they made a mistake on my order and gave me too many drumsticks and not enough thighs. I know this because I lifted up every pieces of chicken with my hand with my hand to count it while I waited in my receipt. I notified the young man that I needed another thigh because they have me too many drumsticks. I told him I normally get 5/5. He said they count just depending on who packed it. I am feeding adults, so the thigh count matters. Instead of just handing me another thigh, 1) they took my box back that had been on car seat being breathed on by me back inside the restaurant, 2) removed one of the drumsticks that I had touched WITH MY HAND DURING A PANDEMIC AND PUT IT BACK WITH THE CHICKEN THEY GIVE OUT TO OTHER PEOPLE. I am seeing all this transpire through the drive through window. I was in DISBELIEF!! I am very saddened by this because I loved their chicken, but now I question have I gotten somebody’s returned chicken before.

Normally this is a fabulous place to dine and eat but when there's different service between different shifts...it makes it hard for people to regularly dine here. I can't stand it when the workers "knowingly " serve you overcooked/overheated food that they wouldn't eat themselves on their breaks...this establishment gets a whole complete F as a grade towards their service and poor young management...👀

They serve old/dry COLD chicken that has been sitting out for SEVERAL hours & last time I went there was a long hair wrapped around 1 of my chicken tenders 🤢🤢🤮🤮 & they wouldn’t even give me a refund just a phone number to call & I called 3 different times & left 3 voicemails & nobody ever called me back. Food was old. I asked for mashed potatoes with no gravy they gave me one where the scraped the gravy from it. All paper towels and utensils, everything you put your hands on was inside the box of smushed to the chicken. Fries were literally old. It was giving unsanitary and unclean when I pulled in and seen who was in the back preparing the food but I decided to try anyway. Nw I regret because me and both my kids have stomachs after eating it. Never again. Shut this place down.

I just ordered 12 mixed chicken & gizzards and was really disappointment. Did not receive the gizzards luckily was not charged. Fried was stale. Some chicken was over cooked (not fresh). Food was not even hot. Poor poor customer service. Will not be returning back to this location for sure.

Worst experience at a chicken express ever. Ordered 3 pc chicken. A leg, thigh, and breast. Once I broke a piece of the thigh I started to see pink and blood. Return that piece for another piece and it was the exact same thing!!!! Manager asked if I wanted to try a different piece instead of a thigh and I agreed to swap out for a drumstick. Can you believe the drumstick was undercooked as well?!! I kindly asked for a refund because my entire experience was ruined and my appetite went away. The manager stated that he wouldn’t refund my money and offered tenders instead. SMH. You guys need to do better! People aren’t willing to spend money on partially cooked chicken. That’s bad for business and the safety of your customers!!!!!!! This is unacceptable

Horrible food. Quality definitely has declined. Our 25 count tenders was short 8 tenders … and each tender was about 4 inches in length and dried out and gross. They substituted 2 pieces of chicken for the 8 pieces shortage. The sides were just a pint and not full. Could not feed 6 people.

Check your order be for you leave they will not give you your complete order. My recipe is correct. Called the store and there is nothing they can do unless you drive pack there. Manger lied and said that he could not do a refund over the phone. Know someone that worked there for years and said that they can do a refund they just do not like to. Food is so over priced you think that keeping your customers would be important...guess not and you just lost me forever.
