Travellers, it is not easy to find a great bagel and sometimes nothing else will fit the bill. Brueggers bagels get the job done the breakfast bagel sandwiches are fantastic especially the Vermonter with maple syrup. It is delicious and easy to eat on the move. The atmosphere is pleasant and the menu is great but everything goes on a bagel. The coffee is really good and worth the stop. Check it out. We recommend. TLDR. Great great bagel sandwiches
I just love Brueggers Bagels. They are conveniently located in the center of town and their food is so good. I always get a bagel and cream cheese and its so good, my friends have great things to say about their breakfast sandwiches too. Overall great place for breakfast.
Delicious! So many different flavors and styles here. This was my first time trying the food at Bruegger's Bagels. I had tasted the Sriracha Honey Sunrise and the Smoked Salmon Signature. The staff was very accommodating to allow me to swap the peppered bacon on the first sandwhich with chicken sausage. The sriracha sandwhich was a bit greasy, so I wish they had double wrapped it since it was put in the same bag as the other sandwhich. There is currently no dine-in, but delivery is available with doordash. Everybody wears masks at this location, and social distancing is enforced. There is no sanitization between customers though.
It was completely fine, absolutely nothing wrong with it. I miss New York.
Came here from out of area for a tournament and came across this place for a quick place to grab some breakfast that was down the street from us. We ended up coming back every day for breakfast as the boys loved the food. I decided to try it since they were raving about it and it was pretty good. Twice baked hash browns, so good, wish they were a little bigger though for the price. I must say though, your staff could use a class of "they are the face of the company" and put a smile on their face. You really need some upbeat and personable staff. Very uninviting!
The bagel sandwiches were delicious! I highly recommend the Vermonter. The staff was cordial but the place needs a good cleaning, it's not a good first impression when you walk in the door and the floors are filthy looking and a few decorations wouldn't hurt.
The bagels are good, but this location has an unwelcoming atmosphere with no indoor dining. When I asked an employee where the tables were (thinking they may be renovating), she replied “in the trash”. I asked if they were planning to get new ones and was told no and that they no longer offer indoor dining following an unspecified incident at another location with a customer. If you’re looking for a great bagel experience that includes the ability to sit down indoors or outdoors, I highly recommend Tandem Bagel Company in Hadley.
Used to be one of my favorite places. Total lack of effort put in these days, place was dirty no selection of bagels employees were lackluster. The Works is a block up the road and is excellent i think this establishment is not long for the world unfortunately.
Most bagel varietiea were out at 10Aam on Sunday. I got a five cheese "bagel" which waa actually just bread. It took 30 minutes to get my order, even though there were just 3 groups in front of me. The guys behind the counter were nice enough, but poorly groomed, and shoild have had hair nets. The place was in need of upgrading. I love Bruggers in general, cbitvnot this one.I
Ordered 2 bacon egg cheese bagels, no bacon. Sweet
Showed up during business hours listed on website and it was closed. No sign on the door or any notice online. Waste of time
Very odd encounter. Went into restaurant around 7:30 AM today. On approach store was dark. Register on, bagels, out, cold drinks where they should be. Only thing missing was staff. Called out, no response, went closer to kitchen and called out...no answer. Started to call Amherst police Department, as I worried something sinister or medical may have happened. My friend jiggle a door know and a surprised young man came out stating, "We're closed. Staff person no showed." I suggested he lock the front door to prevent others coming in. This is not the same Bruegger's that I knew and loved years ago. There food may still be great, but their days and hours of operation seem to change by the moment, which means I can't plan ahead.🤔😕
Yesterday I waited 30 minutes just to get a bagel to go during a non-busy hour because they didn’t know how to cash some people out with a gift card and they were really taking their time. While the cashier was handing me my tea she didn’t screw the lid on tight and spilled hot water all over and burned my hand. When I asked for a to go bag she just threw it to me. Their bathrooms and seating area are always gross and dirty. They occasionally make my bagel wrong and forget to put in some ingredients. The day before I got a bagel with a strand of hair stuck in the flour. Once they forgot to put sanitary gloves and just made my bagel with a dirty cloth gloved hand. The staff working there look miserable, tired, and underpaid. They are very arrogant and rude, especially if the customer is nice. If I didn’t get the bottomless mug I would have stopped going there with the horrible service they provided these past two days.
What happened to Bruegger’s?? This was the best bagel place for decades and since Covid they just let the place slide like crazy—the floors are filthy and the interior just feels incredibly run down, like there is no management, or no one who cares. I don’t see how they could pass a health inspection looking like this. Staff is friendly but the vibe is just low. After seeing the response from the owner, inviting me to update my review (glad someone is responding to messages, at least): The way to resolve the issue really has nothing to do with me, personally, but the state of the shop itself. I will add photos. Check them out and ask if this is a place you would want to eat. And compare these photos with the beautiful one you have up from years ago, with the black wall and tables in the same spot I photographed. The whole place needs to be deep cleaned, restored, and maintained. Have a designer come in or just look at your own old photos for guidance and put tables and chairs back, make it a place people want to be again. When I was there I asked the employees what had happened and they said the tables came out during Covid and were never brought back and the manager quit recently and they haven't been able to retain staff. So leadership is clearly needed or this place will close, which would be a loss to the neighborhood. It was a great place and can be again.
I went to this place today for breakfast. The guy who waited on me was very rude. I asked for two small coffees and two brisket bagel sandwiches. I asked if the bagels could be grilled? He replied "THEY ARE TOASTED NOT GRILLED!" I said same thing. He finally completed my order, then hands me my order. I asked where's the other coffee? He made a facial expression as if I was annoying him. I said I asked for a small coffee. He stated " WE NO LONGER SELL SM. COFFEE!" So why didn't he tell me that when I ordered? He is not customer service material. Upon leaving I heard another customer say in regards to the server that he must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Also, this place rarely have creamer/ milk. One time they were out of sugar. They need to get it together or get a job where you don't have to deal with the public!!!!! 🤨🙄
So disappointing. I haven't been to this Bruegger's in a while, but I used to go all the time. (I have an original Bruegger's refill coffee mug from 40 years ago!) Service was poor. Employee making the bagels greeted me and told me to let me know when we were ready to order. (There was no line.) I was helping my child decide what bagel to order when the employee at the register informed us we HAD to place our order there and NOT with the person who had just offered to help us. (No signage of the change in 40 years of company practice.) Rude. My bagel was made incorrectly. (I asked for a simple adjustment - split and spread the cream cheese on both (inner) sides of the bagel before putting it together. Was told this couldn't be done. Really?! Folks, you've been making my bagels for me this way for 40 years!) No chai. No tea of any kind. No idea how much the coffee was as no price list. (Only a small sign for the cold drinks.) Employee at register less than helpful. Add to this there is still very little seating. (Many of the seats/tables were removed during Covid. Now they are advertising as "take-out only" yet there is still some seating.) Overall, very uninviting, dark, dirty, and cold. One star because the bagel was OK. I'm really surprised this place is still in business. I won't be back. Sad. Adding edit - In response to the "Response from the owner" comment listed below, I did fill in their form but I never heard from Bruegger's. Unsurprising, I guess.
Seems like a common thread here, a lot of honest customer experiences and feedback, and a lot of excuses by Bruegger’s Corporate. You people need to mystery shop your stores. The customer service and food quality sucks. This new ordering at the register while someone in the corner looks at a screen and makes your bagels is totally impersonal. I’m not impressed at all.
Went back to Bruegger's bagels after a year of being gone a family tradition in our home and was thoroughly disappointed. Not only had the quality of the service gone down but the quality of their wants delicious bagels had as well. They gave us everything bagels with no seasoning and pumpernickel bagels that had holes in the sides of them. Also there was an up charge for majority of the bagels that used to be included with the dozen. The people behind the counter were very attentive and did not provide good service. They were rude, talking amongst themselves and not even listening to their clientele. Our family will now be switching to Tandem Bagel. The service and QUALITY of bagel we received today, after 25 years of loyalty to this company, was a huge disappointment !
I love bagels and this place is FOR BAGEL lovers..or so it claims. It is Sunday 10 am on March 17th. Our first time at this famous chain and as we entered the shop, we right away approached the cashier to place our order. The cashier that had a tag of "shift supervisor" acknowledged us, waited for us to start ordering and after I had already said Hi, asked him about his day and then said my order outloud , he (with a smirk on his face) pointed in the direction of the kitchen staff and said "yeah, you'll need to order it there first!" (I think he was getting off on the fact that we were bran new customers and didnt know "their system") Fine, he is basking in his "bagel supervising" role , didnt even let that bother us, went to see young/ very friendly kitchen staff to place our order. We ordered 3 different bagels, asked for all toasted w/ plain cream cheese. Now, when you have a bad experience from just walking through the door of the shop you've never been to before, you seem to just not even care about what happens next, you want to pay for food or services and just leave to never return. So we simply discussed our plans for that morning while waiting on the bagels. Order was completed, grabbed it, paid for it with desire to never come here again. Now, who eats bagels without TOASTING them? If you do, you're an animal! We specifically asked for TOASTED, and apparantly , warming the exterior part of the bagel equals to toasting them. Sad ! One and only good thing about this place, they didn't skimp on cream cheese, but when you have a soft bagel it really doesnt matter how much cream cheese you might schmear on that! Really, it doesnt! Lesson learned- if you get "great" customer service from the "shift supervisor" the moment you walk in- you should turn around and leave! Additionally, the kitchen staff complained the entire time about the big order they had just received for 38 bagels and how "tiring and "great"" it was. Amherst is a college town, i dont see why this bagel shop shouldn't go to college to better their customer service skills. Bruegger's Bagels, please start with your "shift supervisor".
