Great, friendly, helpful service, and delicious sandwiches. The texture and light crispiness of a fresh plain bagel here is remarkable.

I had never tried their bagel sandwiches. O..M..G..I tried the brisket with peppers..it was delicious. I can't wait to try more. Very friendly staff. I called ahead and my order was ready in the time I was told !! Great service

I think this place has improved over time; the service and bagel quality are now both pretty good.

C

Best place in Amherst for bagels and breakfast. The coffee is pretty good and fairly cheap. The bagels are really good and I love the sandwiches. Not bad on price overall.

A place that focuses only on Bagels and sandwiches. I love it. And the prices are great!!!

Great bagels and breakfast options; surprisingly excellent coffee! Good for a quick bite or an informal meeting.

greeted by the staff when i came in, very welcoming. food was delicious

I really appreciate the effort they have taken to keep their customers and workers safe during Covid. It is a one way, there is a blockade to prevent you from getting close to the workers. There is a separate exit. I love the variety in bagels and cream cheese, and the food is delicious. My favorite is their salt bagels! The cinnamon sugar bagel is also divine. I've also seen their bagels donated to local groups, which I appreciate. The coffee is also reasonably priced, with the iced coffee on par with the hot coffee, an important staple in New England!

Bruegger's is a lovely little spot to grab a bagel or coffee, located conveniently in downtown Amherst. Service is always stellar, food is great, fresh & hot. Coffee is excellent, add your own cream or milk & sugar. They also have tasty breakfast sandwiches, including pastrami! Inside is clean too. Always a pleasant experience here!

C

Travellers, it is not easy to find a great bagel and sometimes nothing else will fit the bill. Brueggers bagels get the job done the breakfast bagel sandwiches are fantastic especially the Vermonter with maple syrup. It is delicious and easy to eat on the move. The atmosphere is pleasant and the menu is great but everything goes on a bagel. The coffee is really good and worth the stop. Check it out. We recommend. TLDR. Great great bagel sandwiches

I just love Brueggers Bagels. They are conveniently located in the center of town and their food is so good. I always get a bagel and cream cheese and its so good, my friends have great things to say about their breakfast sandwiches too. Overall great place for breakfast.

Delicious! So many different flavors and styles here. This was my first time trying the food at Bruegger's Bagels. I had tasted the Sriracha Honey Sunrise and the Smoked Salmon Signature. The staff was very accommodating to allow me to swap the peppered bacon on the first sandwhich with chicken sausage. The sriracha sandwhich was a bit greasy, so I wish they had double wrapped it since it was put in the same bag as the other sandwhich. There is currently no dine-in, but delivery is available with doordash. Everybody wears masks at this location, and social distancing is enforced. There is no sanitization between customers though.

Love Brueager's is good. But I would my hot cocoa not many people can't have coffee.

S

Very fast service, gives employment opportunities to young students. They work efficiently through impatient costumers and with a line flowing out the door.

E

Bagels are good and the sandwiches are tasty. Definitely get the honey siracha !

A
Amy Hernon

Amazing breakfast sandwiches. Good coffee. More staff needed.

C
Chris Davies

Simply the best bagels around, great taste and none of the preservatives that Thomas' has. The day ole' bagel bag is a staple in my house, pick one up whenever you're in town. The only downside to this place is the high prices, while filling, most of their meals and breakfeast sandwhiches will have you saying "did i really just pay that much for......... when i could have made it myself for $2?"

P
Paula Flint

Always great have not been in there for a while. Always fresh bagels, new flavors and delicious sandwiches.

W
W.Sabrina Jamison Keaton

Great selection. I had my first JALAPENO PEPPER BAGEL. Go there sooner than I did, it took me 40 years, sit & enjoy.

D
Daniel Reis

pretty good bagels and decent prices. they are one of the few places that still actually boil their bagels. a plus or minus depending on how you look at it is they're not too big. so you don't feel like you're bursting after eating for example a cheese bagel. but sometimes I find myself needing two.....

C
Corrin Krull

The food is delicious of course! Tons of variety, as well as a lot of drink choices inside. Staff is very friendly and moves quick! I’d give 5 stars but the limit of 5 guests in the store(due to covid) is a bit annoying especially because it’s cold out. I’ve been in smaller establishments with no limit, bUT to each their own, the cold is worth it sometimes!

It was completely fine, absolutely nothing wrong with it. I miss New York.

It was okay. The bagel I got was a little too hard, and the cream cheese was decent. The iced coffee was a pretty basic iced coffee, but it was good. There was both indoor and outdoor seating. Nothing to brag about, but I would try this place again.

Came here from out of area for a tournament and came across this place for a quick place to grab some breakfast that was down the street from us. We ended up coming back every day for breakfast as the boys loved the food. I decided to try it since they were raving about it and it was pretty good. Twice baked hash browns, so good, wish they were a little bigger though for the price. I must say though, your staff could use a class of "they are the face of the company" and put a smile on their face. You really need some upbeat and personable staff. Very uninviting!

W
Weaver Goldman

Good bagels and food, decent service, okay environment.

E
Emilia Nobrega

Not the best bagels I've ever had but the staff were really speedy and accommodating.

S
Sophie Simonsen

The bagels are small and the workers are honestly never polite. Sure the one bite you get is good…but is it worth it.

H
Haley Chupka

I love the food here, the staff can be very rude though. Was much better under the old GM but he seems to have left

A

Great selection but the bagels aren't the same as other brueggers , like they are skimping on the malt or something

S
Sana Shah

Smells really good but I ordered two egg and cheese and I got two egg cheese and bacon instead

J
Jusny Mackenson Louis-Jean

Best place In Amherst to get breakfast! Like the place and the service is good. They offer free wifi. Tried the Herb Turkey bagel today, would have expect it to be warmed enough

T
Tiffany Johnson

They took out all the tables and chairs. The person working was bad at cutting the Bagel and the Bagel was chewy. They used to be better.

E
Eve Ouradou

Quick breakfast options. Somewhat greasy and bagels were only half warmed through. Coffee was decent. Service minimal.

A
Anisha Pai

Usually fantastic!! But a small number of times the special bagels have been kind of sad.. the cookies are delicious though.

K
Karam Al-Kofahi

Depressed teens working here day and night until 1pm. Awful feng shui. Good bagels

B
Brian Sodders

Of course the bagels are good and so are other sandwiches, but my God, the employees are so slow sometimes i can't even imagine what takes them so long to butter a bagel. Slow service is the only reason I give 3 stars. The coffee is pretty good I should add. However, being in Amherst, parking is not free and usually hard to come by.

S
Stephen Bene

Some of their sandwich idea are neat and their bagels and cream cheese are good. That said it's all all a bit overpriced. In addition I also have major issues with how my local shop handles their coffee. There's always flavors empty, dairy empty, cold coffee, and or coffee grounds. If I'm paying more than 2 dollars for a self serve cup of coffee I shouldn't have any of these issues unless it's super busy.

J
Joe B

I actually really like Bruegger's Bagels. Great selections of bagels to choose from, I really like their Jalapeno pepper Bagel. Some of the employees are nice, but sometimes when I ask for the men's restroom key, they give me a look, that I don't like. Even when i order something. I think the shift Supervisor told them something that he wasn't supposed to by law. I will not disclose why. It's no one's business, to tell other peoples legal matters. Period. It is very Unprofessional.

T
Tya Buie

The food and drinks are great tasting, but we weren't impressed with the management. He stood facing me, but talking to an employee about their schedule all the while blocking the cream cheese case. I waited see several minutes, and was the only customer at the time, for him to move. I ended up reaching behind the employee for my selection. If he hadn't been facing me I would've understood, but since he was....I would say poor customer service skills here.

K
Kimberly George

Looks like they started to renovate, however it has looked almost the same for over a year. No tables, not very atmospheric. They changed how orders are placed and was a confusing chaos. The staff do the best they can with what they have but...

Pat Dery
Pat Dery

The bagel sandwiches were delicious! I highly recommend the Vermonter. The staff was cordial but the place needs a good cleaning, it's not a good first impression when you walk in the door and the floors are filthy looking and a few decorations wouldn't hurt.

Tim Schmoke
Tim Schmoke

The bagels are good, but this location has an unwelcoming atmosphere with no indoor dining. When I asked an employee where the tables were (thinking they may be renovating), she replied “in the trash”. I asked if they were planning to get new ones and was told no and that they no longer offer indoor dining following an unspecified incident at another location with a customer. If you’re looking for a great bagel experience that includes the ability to sit down indoors or outdoors, I highly recommend Tandem Bagel Company in Hadley.

S
Steven D. Brewer

I love their bagels, but I've had poor experience with their service — and when they run out of the kind of bagels I want absurdly

P
Patricia B

Service was fast and friendly. Definitely not a New York bagel and coffee was not good.

A
Alison Foelsche

The bagels have gotten smaller, at least the last two times I’ve been they’ve been very small.

j
jeremy Wilder

Rude staff. There clearly unhappy to be there. I only gave this place 2 stars cause the 🥓 scallion cream cheese is ok.

D
DeJa H

This place has gone down considerably. Ive been there and have gotten cold coffee during the day on more than one occasion.

K
Kurtis McKemmie

It would be 4 stars if they didn't close 3 hours early from their original hours. From 8-12:30 there is always a long line up to the door. The times when it gets less busy is around their "new closing hours". I'd figure that this location would be more busy since the Northampton location closed down. Why can't you guys be open longer like everyone else in town?

S
Sharon Rizzuto

Dirty and run down. To me that overshadows whether or not the bagels taste good.workers were rude. Hair hanging in their face. Absolutely unacceptable

K
Kevin G

stopped going here after they axed the bottomless mug also the employees blast the radio when people or should i say college students are in there doing work on their laptops and dont seem to care plus the employees are just downright awful they are just rude and have bad attitude dont make you feel welcome i'll go to any other location except this one.

K
Kai Stwosz

There are no better bagels this part of the state, the service, however, is often lackluster, desultory. The lack of seating and stand-offish service this long after the pandemic is frustrating and I have stopped going regularly. It's like they don't want customers anymore.

A
Aislinn G

It was just ok. I may be biased since im from NJ and we have the best bagels anywhere, but I was not impressed with this place. I came in one morning around 9:30 when I was downtown, and planned to order a plain bagel with ham, egg, and cheese. The place wasn't busy and the employees looked super bored. Nobody told me how the ordering worked, so I went to the cash register (which nobody was at) and the one employee rudely told me I need to go to the end of the counter first. I went to the end of the counter and placed my order, and the uninterested employee retorted that there were no plain bagels left. What?? Every other bagel place I've been to stocks plain bagels all day long. So then I asked for a cinnamon raisin bagel and they had run out of those as well. I finally settled for a pumpkin bagel with ham egg and cheese. This is where the bias may come in. When I received my bagel the egg was one of those egg disks you'd get at Dunkin donuts. Everywhere in NJ/NY if you ask for eggs on your bagel you'll get actual scrambled eggs. Oh well, I ate it anyway. It tasted fine, as I expected. The bagel itself was super bready yet flat, and was NOTHING like a NY style bagel (as their bagels are advertised to be). It felt like it was melting in my mouth as I ate it-- nothing like the hard outside and fluffy inside of NY bagels. I will not be returning... also unrelated but I once applied for a job here and was rejected with extreme backlash as well. I can safely say I'd never want to work at this place with utterly rude employees and mediocre bagels.

P
Peter Sikowitz

Good bagels. Everything else, not. Bagel bins are often empty, even in the morning. Often told to come back in a half hour. Understaffed so long waits often, even when no one else is in the bageleria. Staff often rude. In September, they ran out of dough claiming they were blindsided by returning students. That's like being blindsided by cold temps in winter. The place has become a running joke in our household. What next? The punchline: wait until tomorrow. Honestly, it wouldn't/shouldn't be too hard to overcome the issues.

Phil Nogee
Phil Nogee

Used to be one of my favorite places. Total lack of effort put in these days, place was dirty no selection of bagels employees were lackluster. The Works is a block up the road and is excellent i think this establishment is not long for the world unfortunately.

P
Patricia

Went downhill. Cream cheese tasted bad and the cashier was a grouch.

M
Mary Malmros

What a shame that this is almost the only place to get a bagel in the area. Pack a lunch if you come here because you will die of starvation or old age before you get served.

M
Mildred Martinez

The bagels are great but the service is he service is usually lousy. They need to get rid of their day manager.

J
J.M. Hardie

Gross bagels. Unfriendly staff. They dont heat the bagels thoroughly. Coffee tasted watered down.

E

Disgusting service and store. This place used to be legendary back in the day. Nothing is in stock, customer service is atrocious, and this place is dirty. Stay away.

Z
Zlatan Aksamija

Good bagels, though Works just down the street is better. "Service" is awful and the whole place feels very unwelcoming. They often close earlier than posted hours. All in all, never coming back nor could I recommend when there are better options nearby.

T
Thadius

Been frequenting both the Northampton and Amherst Bruegger's since high school and have always had a pleasant experience and decent, affordable, and quick fodder. Unfortunately had one of the rudest counter person I've ever come in to contact with (having worked in the service industry for 15 years I've met my more then fair share of entitled, obnoxious folks) kick off my weekend with an award winning, unnecessarily curt and condescending interaction. Starting to get used to these unavoidable examples of why the industry in the area continues to take a nose dive.

D
D. Reeves

I was there this last Easter Sunday and it was chaotic and I couldn't figure out where the line was, and I asked this young woman with two-tone hair, "Do I order here?" And was told, "No, the line is back there. You just cut in front of ALL of these people." I was sort of taken aback, and I waited until I got to the front of the line, and told her I thought that was uncalled for, talking to me as if I cut the line on purpose, and she said curtly, "Well, that's not the way I meant it." I walked out without ordering and never went back.

45 minutes for 3 bagels and try didnt even toast them. usually i empathize with other food service workers but this was absolutely absurd. get it together.

S

I tried ordering online at 11am and it was closed for online ordering so I went to the brueggers to order in person. There was a sign stating they'll be open 6am-1pm. BUT, they had chairs in front of the door and locked both doors and it was only 12pm .... So I'm not able to give a actual review

S
Sarah Huggins

The interior is filthy and looks like it hasn't been vacuumed or cleaned in years. The bagel was fine.

S
Shannon Ryan

Overall bad experience food is okay definitely a steep decline though. Staff were rude and very impatient despite the store being empty.

K
Keaveny Magennis

40 minutes for 3 bagels and served other customers who came 20 minutes after there are so many better options in the area. also notice how they don’t respond to the actual critical reviews. don’t go here

K
Knumzcul Thirteen

Just had the worst cup of coffee I've ever had in my life. The coffee dispensers were empty so the manager made a "fresh" pot; this somehow took less than a minute. The coffee tasted horrible, like old reheated burned coffee. I tried just adding lots of cream and sugar so that I might just power through it, because I had things to do and didn't want to wait for the manager to try again and most likely fail, I could only choke down about a quarter of my cup before I began to gag and feel sick. I'm writing this review while sitting on the toilet because it's running right through me. The sandwich was mediocre at best. After spending twelve hard earned American dollars I'm still hungry and want some real coffee but now I can't eat because my stomach and guts are killing me. One star for the manager being gorgeous and having decent tattoos, also there is no way to give zero stars. I will not be returning here ever again. Do yourself a favor and go around the corner to Black Sheep. I don't know how Bruegger's is still in business with such high prices and small portions of mediocre food alongside horrible coffee.

J
Josh Alpert

I’ve gone to this place probably 3 or 4 times since coming to UMass, and each visit I am increasingly disappointed. This place is glorified Dunkin. Maybe even worse. Couldn’t be more painfully obvious that they throw their ingredients in a microwave and nuke it until it’s soggy and rubbery. I’d rather throw 8 dollars in the trash than ever go here again. Absolute shameful food and quality.

A
Alex C

I was amazed by my experience. The workers there were disgusting, unprofessional, inappropriate, and inattentive. The place was filthy. I walked into the store and no one acknowledged my presence. After I ordered, I waited forever to pay at the cashier. Then, the only worker over the counter walked away and two kids came in to make my sandwich. While customers were asked to wear masks, the kids weren’t wearing one. After tossing my bagel in the oven, they walked to the side of the store chatting with their friends and playing with their phones, with the gloves on. With the same dirty gloves, they continued to make my bagel. WHILE they were making my bagel, another kid arrived and was showing them stuff on his phone over the counter and was talking loudly to each other. When I did receive my order after 15 minutes, items were missing. I recommend Tandem Bagel in Hadley- much better food and professional staff. Bruegger’s- I know it’s hard to find workers now days. But the ppl do have in there are rubbish.

j
julia

Not good. They have no process for ordering so we just stood there confused. They forgot one of our hash browns. When they remade it the kid handed it to us and the paper was covered in ketchup and avocado. To make it all better the inside of both of the hash browns were cold. I got a turkey sausage, egg and cheese on a plain bagel and everything about it was bland.

S
Spaulding Smails

This place has turned into a major disappointment. Two days in a row not open on time, rarely anything available before 7, and the quality of the bagels has gone way down. Sorry Bruegger's, been going to your shop for years but you lost a long time customer.

Most bagel varietiea were out at 10Aam on Sunday. I got a five cheese "bagel" which waa actually just bread. It took 30 minutes to get my order, even though there were just 3 groups in front of me. The guys behind the counter were nice enough, but poorly groomed, and shoild have had hair nets. The place was in need of upgrading. I love Bruggers in general, cbitvnot this one.I

Very odd encounter. Went into restaurant around 7:30 AM today. On approach store was dark. Register on, bagels, out, cold drinks where they should be. Only thing missing was staff. Called out, no response, went closer to kitchen and called out...no answer. Started to call Amherst police Department, as I worried something sinister or medical may have happened. My friend jiggle a door know and a surprised young man came out stating, "We're closed. Staff person no showed." I suggested he lock the front door to prevent others coming in. This is not the same Bruegger's that I knew and loved years ago. There food may still be great, but their days and hours of operation seem to change by the moment, which means I can't plan ahead.🤔😕

Liberty

Yesterday I waited 30 minutes just to get a bagel to go during a non-busy hour because they didn’t know how to cash some people out with a gift card and they were really taking their time. While the cashier was handing me my tea she didn’t screw the lid on tight and spilled hot water all over and burned my hand. When I asked for a to go bag she just threw it to me. Their bathrooms and seating area are always gross and dirty. They occasionally make my bagel wrong and forget to put in some ingredients. The day before I got a bagel with a strand of hair stuck in the flour. Once they forgot to put sanitary gloves and just made my bagel with a dirty cloth gloved hand. The staff working there look miserable, tired, and underpaid. They are very arrogant and rude, especially if the customer is nice. If I didn’t get the bottomless mug I would have stopped going there with the horrible service they provided these past two days.

Swan Keyes
Swan Keyes

What happened to Bruegger’s?? This was the best bagel place for decades and since Covid they just let the place slide like crazy—the floors are filthy and the interior just feels incredibly run down, like there is no management, or no one who cares. I don’t see how they could pass a health inspection looking like this. Staff is friendly but the vibe is just low. After seeing the response from the owner, inviting me to update my review (glad someone is responding to messages, at least): The way to resolve the issue really has nothing to do with me, personally, but the state of the shop itself. I will add photos. Check them out and ask if this is a place you would want to eat. And compare these photos with the beautiful one you have up from years ago, with the black wall and tables in the same spot I photographed. The whole place needs to be deep cleaned, restored, and maintained. Have a designer come in or just look at your own old photos for guidance and put tables and chairs back, make it a place people want to be again. When I was there I asked the employees what had happened and they said the tables came out during Covid and were never brought back and the manager quit recently and they haven't been able to retain staff. So leadership is clearly needed or this place will close, which would be a loss to the neighborhood. It was a great place and can be again.

I went to this place today for breakfast. The guy who waited on me was very rude. I asked for two small coffees and two brisket bagel sandwiches. I asked if the bagels could be grilled? He replied "THEY ARE TOASTED NOT GRILLED!" I said same thing. He finally completed my order, then hands me my order. I asked where's the other coffee? He made a facial expression as if I was annoying him. I said I asked for a small coffee. He stated " WE NO LONGER SELL SM. COFFEE!" So why didn't he tell me that when I ordered? He is not customer service material. Upon leaving I heard another customer say in regards to the server that he must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Also, this place rarely have creamer/ milk. One time they were out of sugar. They need to get it together or get a job where you don't have to deal with the public!!!!! 🤨🙄

So disappointing. I haven't been to this Bruegger's in a while, but I used to go all the time. (I have an original Bruegger's refill coffee mug from 40 years ago!) Service was poor. Employee making the bagels greeted me and told me to let me know when we were ready to order. (There was no line.) I was helping my child decide what bagel to order when the employee at the register informed us we HAD to place our order there and NOT with the person who had just offered to help us. (No signage of the change in 40 years of company practice.) Rude. My bagel was made incorrectly. (I asked for a simple adjustment - split and spread the cream cheese on both (inner) sides of the bagel before putting it together. Was told this couldn't be done. Really?! Folks, you've been making my bagels for me this way for 40 years!) No chai. No tea of any kind. No idea how much the coffee was as no price list. (Only a small sign for the cold drinks.) Employee at register less than helpful. Add to this there is still very little seating. (Many of the seats/tables were removed during Covid. Now they are advertising as "take-out only" yet there is still some seating.) Overall, very uninviting, dark, dirty, and cold. One star because the bagel was OK. I'm really surprised this place is still in business. I won't be back. Sad. Adding edit - In response to the "Response from the owner" comment listed below, I did fill in their form but I never heard from Bruegger's. Unsurprising, I guess.

Seems like a common thread here, a lot of honest customer experiences and feedback, and a lot of excuses by Bruegger’s Corporate. You people need to mystery shop your stores. The customer service and food quality sucks. This new ordering at the register while someone in the corner looks at a screen and makes your bagels is totally impersonal. I’m not impressed at all.

Went back to Bruegger's bagels after a year of being gone a family tradition in our home and was thoroughly disappointed. Not only had the quality of the service gone down but the quality of their wants delicious bagels had as well. They gave us everything bagels with no seasoning and pumpernickel bagels that had holes in the sides of them. Also there was an up charge for majority of the bagels that used to be included with the dozen. The people behind the counter were very attentive and did not provide good service. They were rude, talking amongst themselves and not even listening to their clientele. Our family will now be switching to Tandem Bagel. The service and QUALITY of bagel we received today, after 25 years of loyalty to this company, was a huge disappointment !

I love bagels and this place is FOR BAGEL lovers..or so it claims. It is Sunday 10 am on March 17th. Our first time at this famous chain and as we entered the shop, we right away approached the cashier to place our order. The cashier that had a tag of "shift supervisor" acknowledged us, waited for us to start ordering and after I had already said Hi, asked him about his day and then said my order outloud , he (with a smirk on his face) pointed in the direction of the kitchen staff and said "yeah, you'll need to order it there first!" (I think he was getting off on the fact that we were bran new customers and didnt know "their system") Fine, he is basking in his "bagel supervising" role , didnt even let that bother us, went to see young/ very friendly kitchen staff to place our order. We ordered 3 different bagels, asked for all toasted w/ plain cream cheese. Now, when you have a bad experience from just walking through the door of the shop you've never been to before, you seem to just not even care about what happens next, you want to pay for food or services and just leave to never return. So we simply discussed our plans for that morning while waiting on the bagels. Order was completed, grabbed it, paid for it with desire to never come here again. Now, who eats bagels without TOASTING them? If you do, you're an animal! We specifically asked for TOASTED, and apparantly , warming the exterior part of the bagel equals to toasting them. Sad ! One and only good thing about this place, they didn't skimp on cream cheese, but when you have a soft bagel it really doesnt matter how much cream cheese you might schmear on that! Really, it doesnt! Lesson learned- if you get "great" customer service from the "shift supervisor" the moment you walk in- you should turn around and leave! Additionally, the kitchen staff complained the entire time about the big order they had just received for 38 bagels and how "tiring and "great"" it was. Amherst is a college town, i dont see why this bagel shop shouldn't go to college to better their customer service skills. Bruegger's Bagels, please start with your "shift supervisor".
