This location has been around for a long time, consistently providing tasty boba drinks.

Hard to believe that I’ve been going to Au79 for close to a decade, and they are the only place I know that serves a topping that goes well with their fruit teas and regular teas. That’s the rainbow mix. I really enjoy that topping. Their drinks are good and the staff is friendly. Sometimes though the rainbow mix can be a hit or miss. Sometimes they’ll add boba in it and other times they won’t. Also sometimes they get their drinks out fast, and other times it can take a bit of time, but normally they’re on the quicker side of things, but overall I don’t believe that those few and far occasions should lower the overall score.

I got a jasmine milk tea it’s really good better then ten ten tea time. It doesn’t give you that artificial sweet flavor it taste like honey. And the boba is nice and soft and fresh. But they should make the menu simple.

Nice boba shop with many kinds of boba and Taiwanese snacks

The OG of Arcadia... still great boba and appetizers. The popcorn chicken is very good and pricing hasn't really climbed like others. The outdoor tables could use some replacements and more tables, indoor seating is extremely limited due to covid (just 2-3 tiny tables for 2 people each). Mostly seems to be to-go or use the 3-4 tables outside.

Nice cozy spot. Love the food. I've almost tried everything on the menu and not once was I dissatisfied. Especially the boba options! Met one of the workers there name "Leena". Very friendly person who actually asked me how my day was going. During this COVID19 pandemic, she made it feel like we werent robots programmed not to socialize and to keep 6ft away from each other! Thanks "Leena".

Love Au79! Great outdoor atmosphere for hanging out and chatting with a friend and they get their drinks out fairly quickly. Good variety of drink options, and their boba is always perfectly chewy!

Over the years, Its obvious that the quality of the Milk Teas i always order here have improved. I remember around the time that Pokemon Go got really popular (theres 3 on this block) their teas really didnt seem that... tasty. It felt watered down at the time which was about 3 years ago. Now, i thought of revisiting this place, and even trying out their food this time- This is happening more and more often now because I work late, and they're open late, too. They have more flavors now, also have more options for toppings and their drinks actually taste like what you ordered. They often have special deals at this shop. They have deals like buy one get half off, they even have a special now for mother's day of buy one drink and meal get a drink another drink and meal for half off (even though you're getting both for yourself). You can choose between sitting inside or outside. The outside has a canopy and is shaded from the sun, and the inside has air conditioning and music. If you intend to stay for a long time and order more than once, i recommend sitting inside because you can get refills on certain drinks. *wink wink*. You dont get the same offer when you sit outside. So, If youre up late, and want something sweet and or a snack around Arcadia, stop by.

Boba is nice and soft, hot drinks can take longer than cold. Given I guess? Nobody really orders hot boba drinks in socal.

Great spot for some milk tea. Lots of cool restaraunt in the plaza and tons of space for outdoor activities. Staff at AU79 is super friendly and orders came out quick even though they were understaffed!

Great Portion for their popcorn chicken and they always give reasonable boba to drink ratios. Not to mention their overall amazing flavor.

Boba Milk Tea tastes exceptional...however, the french fries are overpriced for the small amount they provide...they dont even taste that great...overall, 4.5 star experience.

Au79 is our favorite teahouse in the SGV! I implore you my foodie friends to prepare yourselves for a life changing experience before you try the Crispy Chicken at this amazing place. My wife and I are new to the San Gabriel Valley having lived our whole lives in Washington State. Not long after moving here a new local friend took my wife to try Taiwan style popcorn chicken for the first time. As I said, life changing. The bite sized pieces of chicken thigh are super juicy and tender, covered in crunchy cragely perfectly fried batter that is very well seasoned with a complex spice blend. I recommend getting the heat level at medium or higher to balance the sweetness in the seasoning. Sweet and hot, just like we like our partners. Right guys?!? Pro tip: Ask about their dipping sauces and extra flavoring powders. I don't think they are listed on the menu. The tea beverages are outstanding. My favorite is the House Fruit Tea w/ green tea. It has crazy bright exotic fruit flavor and pieces of fresh fruit inside. Perfect for refreshing the palate between bites of the mind-blowingly flavorful popcorn chicken. My wife tries something different every time. Once in a while she will say that she likes my drink more than hers. Practical stuff: Ever since COVID they have no indoor seating. They do have a few tables outside of the storefront under a big sunshade. Update 8/30/22: We visited Au79 today for a treat after a doctor appointment in the neighborhood. Dining in has partially reopened. About half of the interior seating space is now available and the AC is working well. We tried the Meal Box Chicken Cutlet with green curry sauce for the first time. Wow! Its so comforting. It brings up emotions like the ones you feel when you get a loving hug from someone special like mom or grandma; or feel the love from your favorite pet dog when they greet and you pet them. The the bright non-spicy flavor and texture of the curry sauce is perfectly balanced with with the crispy crunch of the chicken. Its a heavenly bite of food. Bonus, they serve the curry in a large cup on the side so you can add as much or as little as you like to the chicken. There is plenty of curry sauce to pour onto the large portion of sticky rice under the chicken. It also comes with two small vegetable sides. I highly recommend that you share this dish and pair it with an order of Crispy Chicken. Its a delicious combination. Fun Facts: Au is the symbol, and 79 the element number, of gold on the periodic table of elements. Aurum = Gold in Latin. Taiwanese popcorn chicken was originally found in night markets around 1979. One legend says that it was accidentally created by someone who was trying to make chicken nuggets like the ones at KFC. Bubble Tea (Boba) was invented in Taiwan in 1986 by Tu Tsong He. He simply added large tapioca balls to cold milk tea which was also invented in Taiwan in 1949 by Chang Fan Shu. If you say you want boba in Seattle people will think you mean that you are attracted to Boba Fett. No one calls it boba in the northwest. We call it bubble tea. So, if you are looking for a life changing experience, do yourself a favor and give this place a try soon.

Quick service, tasty milk tea. The ambiance is super casual - a great place to grab a drink with friends. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good tea selection. Their boba is a nice consistency and sweet. I had their food for the first time last night: chicken curry and rice. Obviously not the most difficult meal to make, but it was delicious.

Delicious and affordable tea— and they accept cash!! I got the Blue Fizzy peach and the Kumquat lemon w/ green tea, and I must say it was delicious and refreshing! Genuinely some of the best tea I’ve had in the area, I’ll definitely be coming back! The place is clean and the atmosphere is friendly and the staff were very kind! I don’t usually feel the need to comment, but as someone who makes a hobby of going around and trying different tea spots and restaurants, this place really made a good impression!

I ve been coming here for a long time. They are reasonably priced and very consistent. I notice they include more fresh produce in their drinks: using real passionfruit in their passionfruit green tea. Sometimes finding what you want on the kiosk can take longer time than you'd hope. Great teahouse overall .

The drinks here are amazing and the prices are the lowest I've ever seen in Los Angeles or San Diego. Getting a 24oz is only $0.50 more than the 16oz and the employees are always very courteous.

This is one of my favorite boba place. They are located in a convenient location that I can always come by after I am done with my grocery shopping. Mango slush with rainbow jelly is my favorite drink at this place. The drink was very refreshing on a hot day. It was not too sweet with 100% sweetness, and the rainbow jelly is just a flavorful addition to the drink. Customer can place their own order on the monitor by the entrance. This store also offered loyalty program in point system, which loyal customers are able to receives perks. There are tables and chair inside and outside of the store for customers to use. Parking is very easy. Will continue to support.

The drinks here are pretty good. I usually get the Honey Green Milk Tea with Crystal Boba and 50% - 75% sweetness. I recommend getting the less sweet options because their 100% sweetness is pretty sweet. The service is usually pretty quick so you don’t have to wait long. This place can also be a study spot if you need to study. There are both inside and outside seating as well. Overall, pretty good experience and will come back soon.

I actually forgot about this place until I came in today. I’ve been here a few times in the past, but since I live closer to the San Gabriel and Pasadena locations, I went there instead. Now both of those have closed, leaving us with just this one spot for Au79 drinks. I like that they let you choose as little as 15% sweetness. Since I selected that, the drinks weren’t as sweet as I remembered them being before. The workers were also able to give me Splenda when I asked for it. Their honey lemon and lavender milk tea were both tasty! I would come back!

I asked for a mild milk tea with boba, and the young lady taking my order gave me different options to match the sweetness level I was hoping for. She was kind and helpful, such a great smile! my green milk tea boba was pretty good. the line was < 5 minutes on a friday night around 8:40pm. service was good and the drinks were made well and quickly. there are some tables (inside and outside) where you can chat, play games, or study (though it can get loud). keep in mind there is a $10 credit card minimum charge. and parking is not difficult in the large plaza lot. the pink boba is fun (just tastes like regular boba)!

The inside of Au79 was a little run down. Like nothing fancy. The food was good and the tea was great. I would have liked bigger portions for the price (food wise). But, the flavor was great. By far my favorite popcorn chicken. If I find myself in the area again, I would definitely go back.

This is my go to spot for some hot almond flavored soy milk! This place brings back lots of memories for me, and has definitely stood the test of time! This location is often filled with high schoolers, vapers, and other Arcadians! They offer seating outside, which is usually filled up with the vapors and smokers. Often a rowdy bunch! The interior is quite small with seating along the walls and some booths. Here you will find a mixture of studious people and the ones who simply like to chill and hangout. Their menu consists of a variety of tea drinks as well as some slushes. Most of the tea is offered in both hot or cold. As I said before, I always get the almond flavored milk. The aroma of the almond that wafts out of the cup is simply irresistible! It’s a great drink to get on a cold day! Personally don’t enjoy their slushes too much, feels to artificial and icy.

It's boba. I'm not a big fan of boba, but it was alright. I had the coffee milk boba (or something like that) and some fish balls, I could've passed on the fish balls. Seating is tough to come by since most tables are occupied by millennials on their laptops "working". A decent option for boba if you're in the area.

I tried their honey milk tea with boba at 75% sweetness and it tasted good but was still a bit too sweet so I would opt for 50% sweetness next time so I could get more of that tea flavor. The boba was nice and chewy as well. I’d also try their pink boba next time because I’ve never seen that anywhere else and I’m curious to see how it tastes. Service was quick and employees were friendly; the doodle on the lid was a cute touch!

Overpriced Asian teahouse that probably caters to the rich local kids and yuppies. The cappuccino was big and good, but over $7 bucks for a cup of coffee is kinda ridiculous. One good thing about the store is its open late and also, the staff are accommodating and polite. The store is rather small and does not lend itself to a large group. It does feel very ethnic and cool to go there. Hopefully the prices will come down.

Ordered a crispy chicken and some of them were cold. Yes, cold, not even warm. It was not a takeout. This is the 2nd time I've experienced the same issue. And the 1st time was not too long ago. Seems like their kitchen has a tendency to mix up the food with leftovers if leftovers are available. It's not right and is gross. I've been going this place for years and it is very disappointing. However, good boba drinks and friendly staff.
